Carrie exhaled pinching the bridge of her nose. "You are not turning out daughter's fiance into goop." She says sternly.

There was a brief pause in the air.

"dad says he's going to disintegrate tobey." Blu chimed giggling.

Wg Episode idea and possible future rp idea for you and @erraticeris Mindful Manners Summary: A new female villain dressed up like a Victorian nanny causes trouble in Fair City. She proclaims herself to be a "person of justice", but her actions only cause chaos and she is too stubborn to believe she is in the wrong. Her name Miss Manners. She has mind control powers that only affect kids under the age of 16. Miss Manners believes every child should behave like well mannered and responsible adults, like their parents. So any child she finds "misbehaving". She hypnotizes them to act more like their parents would. She stubbornly believes all parents are the best role models for their children. She targets the villain kids and hypnotizes them to act like their parents. ex. Tobey acting like his mother and Victoria acting like her parents. (Eileen is affected too, but I don't know who her parents are so that is up in the air.) Wordgirl and Amazo Lad try to intervene to stop Miss Manners because you can't mind control children lady! Miss Manners sees the heroes' actions as "misbehaving" so she hypnotizes them as well. "You two should really act more like your parents!" Miss Manners cackles. She and the citizens are stunned and shocked when Amazo Lad and Wordgirl start stealing their favorite stuff and committing other crimes as well. Miss Manners had no clue their parents were criminals. (Carrie is still a cat villain in this episode.) So Fair City is in trouble. Featured words: Behavior and Imitation

(so we're just gonna pretend continue from here ig?? I do remember Steven meeting wordman also throwing in some headcanons for my next gen au bc I keep forgetting to share em XD)

He just couldn't get the masked hero out of his head. Something about those cold blue eyes screamed familiarity to Steven. But he couldn't put his finger on it.

from his research of Lexiconians, blue wasn't an eye color that they had naturally. Usually reds, brown/hazel and yellow. He had done this after incident with Becky. Not wanting to be caught off guard for any possible other changes and misadventurers. While normal for his daughter's alien side, it was foreign and unpredictable for the boxleitner family.

Maybe the hero has been a hybrid like her. There was so many questions, the formal villain had. Judging from Chase's face, he could see his eldest was pondering about the earlier events as well.

"Let's just go inside and try to find out what exactly happened first before we do anything else kiddo." Steven stated. Chase nodded though he was still thinking about earlier events. Maybe it would be a good idea to clear their heads and at least hand Squeaky back to Blu before they could learn more about this "Wordman". Chase and Steven walked inside, ignoring the oddness of the unlocked door as they both figured it was either Blu or Becky who left it open. None of the men, not even Squeaky who was still in Steven's pocket, expected an all too familiar face standing in their living room. Alex was pissed at Steven right now. Extremely pissed. This was seriously getting out of hand. He knew Steven had issues with the mouse which were justified. He also had these issues with villains which were much less okay. Now he has gone too far. According to Lady Redundant Woman and the other freaked out villains he had visited in jail today, Wordman nearly went off on an odd citizen because they had brought up Wordgirl. Something that was considered taboo around the hero, but it was clear whoever that citizen was he didn't know. Alex sighed in reluctant acceptance. He knew their "conversation" would evolve into fighting. He just hoped Steven would hold himself back if Mouse was around. Alex didn't hate the man. No. He just hated what Steven was becoming. Steven was sometimes reminding Alex of a particular being that he truly despised. He knew Steven despised him too so he didn't bring up the monster's name. Though Alex wondered if that may help break the state of mind Steven was in right now. Alex shook that though out of the way and turned his head towards the door as he heard it open. Well it was time to get this over with. "Okay Steven we need to have a serious chat right....oh uh...hello there. Can I help you with something?" Alex asked, stunned and taken aback that not Steven, but two random strangers walked into this house. Though judging by their expressions, the two strangers seemed just as shocked to see Alex there as he was to see them.

Patrick and his two henchmen went to were Patty and Sam were held

"Today is the big day are yall ready to meet yalls doom" said Patrick

He led them to a room where a machine was in the middle, Nigel was there also

"im going to activtate this machine it will freez and my gaurds can invade without anybody knowing" said Patrick he began to cackel

"And you are going to spend the rest of your life in" Nigels good persona butted in "i should try and fight Patrick"

"Come on Nigel you can do it" said Patty

Nigel began to speak but his voice got more sinster with each word

"Oh no Patty this is me and soon the world will bow to us right Patrick"

Patrick nodded and actiavted the machine

Patty lept into the air and tried to get the scepter away from Patrick,he shoved her aside

"OTTO ERIC GET HER" Yelled Patrick to his cat henchmen

Otto and Eric began to chase Patty around the facilty

"Boss a little help here" said Eric

Patrick aimed his scepter at Patty but she moved and blasted Eric so he was an actual kitten

"Ive got you now" said Otto

Patrick was getting his scepter ready but he missed agined and struck Otto

Nigel was trying to fight his evil persona eventualy his good side was winning

"Give up now" said Evil Nigel

"No" said Good Nigel

Eventuly Nigel broke free from his evil persona

"Im good agine" said Nigel

"Now thers only one thing left to do Sam you know what to do" said Patty

"You may have deafted my henchmen but my army of cats and dogs are ready to march out and start the invasion" said Patrick but Sam hit Patrick abd knocked him out

Just then tje captine of the army apperd

"Sir arent we going to start the invasion" said the Captian

Sam went behind the unconces Patrick and pretend to speak for him

"Why dont yall just march back and forth for twenty minets i wiil let you know went to begin the invasion" said Sam doing her best Evil Patrick impression

"Sir" said the captine as he saluted and left

Patrick woke up

"What happend" said Patrick he was back to normal

"Pat" said Nigel he hugged Patrick

"Its a long story" said Patty

"Pat now its the time i ask you this would you marry me" said Nigel

Thoughts on Uprising eps9&10 Scars

Part One

- cold open: well this is all about Dyson from the start, huh? that dude has the pointiest possible chin, I’ve gotta say. also the scan results on his ship “highest security clearance; by sovereign order of Clu” like DAYUM somebody’s top dog, huh???? and why am I not surprised that Tron has a bug on the port scanners specifically for this guy??

- speaking of the port scanners: where the fuck even is Argon? what is the local geography? like there’s a big ocean like thing? and a mountainous snowy area??? the hell??? things I want/need: a map of the whole ass Grid!!!!!! damn!!

- for once our heroes and villains agree: Dyson fuckin sucks. can’t say that I disagree with that assessment; he is a smarmy bastard at the LEAST. love his VA, though; the voice has just the right balance of danger on the one hand, and whine on the other. and meanwhile Tron is……… not handling this well. Obviously. What with the torture and all. That said, Beck’s plan to get Dyson’s disc and spare his life is a good one, which… good for Beck, sometimes his plans kind of suck. Wish Tron was in a mood to actually listen to him, tho….

- flashback 1: okay even here Dyson feels like a bit of a tryhard/sycophant. I do love seeing a bit more of the tensions between Isos and programs. it seems like a really fundamental part of the whole story of the Grid; here are these programs without Users, without makers, without base functions beyond their own existence, and…. they just want to be a part of things. the Grid is their home, too. and programs don’t seem to like that, for the same reason anyone anywhere can be xenophobic. it sucks, but damn does it make for good storytelling. the riot is a mess, as riots usually are, but it’s damn good for story reasons.

- meanwhile at Tron’s place: nicely done on the simulation, Beck, you’re improving all the time!!! sucks that, uh, Tron is……….. not doing well… or trusting you………. and stuff………..

- flashback 2: so Dyson has gone from eager puppy to hardened bigot pretty damn quick, huh?? also nice to see that I have been hitting the mark on anti-Iso sentiments in some of my fics. Clu’s grandstanding on his lightcycle is painfully him, especially with all those Isos around… and then Flynn!!!! good to see you! wish you were a little more understanding about……… everything to do with the Iso-program tensions, tho!! like. for real…….

- then Beck tries to show Tron that he can get Dyson’s disc without having to capture him, and he does a damn good job!! I love that he is sticking to his principles here, good for him. it’s just a shame that Tron is…. not very receptive right now. UGH. PLEASE STOP TRON. I LOVE YOU. PLEASE STOP.

- then as Pavel and Paige are giving Dyson the tour, Dyson twigs on Beck’s trap and is…. a smarmy bastard as usual about it. Beck barely manages to get out unseen. (also I see Dyson using that tracking thing Rinzler uses in Legacy!!! What is up with that!!!!!!!!) love that Pavel is trying to get in Dyson’s good graces while Paige is protecting Tesler’s reputation—very in character for both of them!!

- flashback 3: WELP. love how we see a new perspective on what wasn’t shown in Legacy. also love how Clu has leveraged Dyson’s anger and turned him into an ally. there is that line about perfection, which is unsurprising, it’s Clu. and Clu is following his directive as he sees it, and there is no room for disfigured programs in a perfect system.

- and then Beck goes back to Tron and JESUS FUCK TRON!!!!! FUCK. SHIT. WHAT WAS THAT. HOLY SHIT. WHAT. WHAT. STOPPPPPPP

- (tho Bruce Boxleitner’s delivery of “I don’t need your permission” was fucking BONE-CHILLING. DAMN.)

Part Two

- cold open: Beck sweetie, you’re doing amazing, but the mere fact that Tron isn’t even talking to you is…. a Bad Fuckin Sign. the lightcycle chase here is really well done, though, love action sequences like this. (and they were probably trying to get more action sequences in this episode because the fights are few and far between this episode.)

- love that Tesler et al are (badly) trying to pretend that the Renegade is No Big Deal, though Dyson has cottoned on pretty quickly that the Renegade is a perennial thorn in Tesler’s side. Still, watching them all kind of flail around the facts is mildly hilarious, and I’ll take whatever levity I can get in this episode….

- flashback 4: getting in some psychological torture before the actual torture starts, I see! the programs in tubes thing while they’re repurposed is Creepy as FUCK and I do not like it. and they just put Tron in there to make him watch and it’s awful and I hate it and uGH

- Tron + Beck fight: fdsj;dajk;adgj;dfjk;dgj;kadjk; HELPPPPPPPPPPP THE GIRLS ARE FIGHTINGGGGGGG (AGAIN) (HELP) and poor Beck, he’s trying really hard to make Tron see sense and it’s not working and ugh, poor bb. also this feels like one of those plots that would be solved if everyone sat down and TALKED IT OUT, tho I completely understand why Tron does not want to. like. completely. still tho.

- Paige and Pavel scene: again, grateful for whatever levity I can get here. Paige’s loyalty to Tesler is kind of admirable, whereas Pavel is grasping for whatever straw of power he can find, even if it means deliberate sabotage. thank god Paige isn’t falling for his bullshit. (also Pavel’s “Maybe?” to Paige’s question fuckiin SENT ME, lol)

- flashback 5: buckle up kiddos, it’s time for TORTURE!!!!!! IN A KID’S SHOW!!! THAT THEY RATED FOR FLIPPING SEVEN YEAR OLDS!!!!!! I couldn’t believe it 10 years ago and I can’t believe it now. well….. um. what I want to know is HOW they got THIS past BS&P (aka the Board of Standards and Practices, aka the people who basically say what is and is not appropriate for a given audience). it’s torture. it’s not even disguised or called something else. it isn’t CALLED torture, but it’s torture. Dyson is hurting Tron in an attempt to get him to give in and change sides. it’s torture. the frickin guards outside the door even talk about how “why doesn’t he scream? everyone else does.” like seriously. WHAT THE FUCK. and Dyson destroying Tron’s face is just…….. eeeh. yikes, my guy. maybe stop. maybe you have a complex? about your supposedly perfect fixed face and the injury you got?? maybe STOP????

- Tron + Dyson fight: this was good fucking shit. just well made action, good cuts away to Beck’s dilemma (one edit where it cuts from Beck’s disc to Tron blocking Dyson was SO GOOD I EXCLAIMED ABOUT IT). and then Tron is totally bout to kill a dude, but Beck is there in the background and idk if Tron spots him or not, but fdsajk;dfasj that moment when he drops Dyson was just UGH. GOOD SHIT GOOD SHIT

- flashback 6: HO SHIT CYRUS!!!!!! I DID NOT REALIZE!!!!!!!!!!!! (seriously I only watched up to The Stranger 10 years ago and I don’t think Cyrus was named in that ep??? I can’t remember!!!) saying the same thing as Beck about not letting the revolution die before it gets started!! WHAT!!!!!!!

- the ending: Tesler’s glad Dyson’s gone, so yay for him, I guess? and then Tron FINALLY apologizes to Beck (doesn’t tell him shit, as usual, but I’ll take an apology) which made me feel good, and then—

- the coda: Dyson returns to Clu with a message: TRON LIVES. and just casually derezzes a guard so no one else knows. and UGHHHH WHAT MIGHT HAVE COME OF THIS!!!!!! I haven’t even finished the show and I am upset there was never a second season!!!! UGHHHHH

in conclusion:

THIS WAS GOOD SHIT. EASILY THE BEST EPS SO FAR. MY GOD. 1000000/10 WOULD WATCH AND FEEL ALL THE EMOTIONS AGAIN.

Suddenly Henry’s phone dinged. The man looked a bit surprised as he was engrossed in his conversation with Robert. Henry pulled his phone from his pocket and opened the device. His heart beat with relief and warmth when he saw that Dr. Two Brains had finally texted him back. ‘Hey Bright eyes. Sorry about not replying sooner. I was busy with some family stuff. I’m touched you were checking up on me. I love you and can’t wait to see you again.’ Robert saw Henry’s face warm and his expression transforming into fondness. “So I assume that text is from Dr. Two Brains.” Robert remarked, biting back a sour tone of voice. Henry looked back up at Robert with his cheeks now reddened from embarrassment. “Yes. Ah am sorry about that. Ah didn’t mean to get distracted from our conversation.” Henry apologized. Robert plastered on a smile. “It's quite alright. So what did your boyfriend say…bloody hell!” While both men were focused on their conversation, neither of them noticed Amber’s expression changing into a quizzical look. She lifted her head up as her nose caught a familiar scent. She sniffed the air a few more times before her confused expression turned into an elated one. Quickly Amber bolted, brushing past Robert’s legs and towards where the scent was coming from. “Amber!” Henry yelled out in a panic. “Robert, help me catch her before she gets hurt.” Henry pleaded. Robert gave him a determined nod and the two men proceeded to chase after the werewolf pup. Becky was extremely grateful to have friends like Violet, Scoops, and Rose. She felt bad about keeping them in the dark for so long though it was mainly due to fear of them getting hurt if they knew or their reactions. ‘Huh. I guess dad and I are more alike than we realize. Especially when it comes to trust issues and secrets.’ Becky surmised. “Hey, how about we go to the ice cream shop. Mr. Jones has some new flavors that he says are delicious and healthy.” Violet suggested. “Ooo yeah I’ll come. It will also make a great story for the Daily Rag.” Scoops responded as his eyes lit up with eagerness. Rose and Becky nodded in agreement. “That sounds great, let's go.” Becky exclaimed. Suddenly, a small blur ran towards the group of kids and stopped a few inches away from Becky. Becky looked surprised to see Amber appearing there out of nowhere. Amber gave Becky a confused look before turning her head and looking around. She then proceeded to sniff the air again and turned back to Becky with an even more confused look. “Why do you smell like Wordgirl?” Amber asked with curiosity. Becky and her friends simultaneously had mixed looks of shock and puzzlement. “Um what?” Becky spoke. “I smelled Wordgirl’s scent and followed it here. You smell like Wordgirl.” Amber stated in an affirmative tone. Becky and her friends looked at each other with panic and utter confusion in their eyes. “Amber, wait!” A familiar voice cried out. Becky soon saw her teacher and another man race towards them. Dr. Jekyll immediately grabbed Amber and picked her up in his arms. “Amber, ye  know very well ye  aren’t supposed to run off like that. Ah nearly had a heart attack because ah was scared of something bad happening to ye.” Henry scolded his daughter. Both he and the other man looked exhausted. Amber looked down in shame. “I’m sorry daddy. I smelt Wordgirl and I was trying to find her. I didn’t mean to scare you.” Amber spoke in a guilty tone. Henry let out a sigh and hugged his daughter tightly. “Ah no ye didn’t. Please just don’t run off like that again. Okay.” Henry exclaimed. Amber gave a nod. Henry smiled and then turned his head. He was surprised to see Becky and his other students here. “Oh hello everyone. Ah am terribly sorry about this..” Henry turned to Robert. “Robert, these are some of my students from Woodview. This little girl right here is Becky Boxleitner, Dr. Two Brains daughter. Everyone, this is my oldest friend Robert Lanyon.” Henry exclaimed as he introduced them to each other.  @unhingedexperimenter

Though someone this Miss Ito did know Henry Jekyll. Did his brother's new boyfriend get this woman to look into him? If so, why didn't this man just ask Dr.Two-Brains about himself? This raised more questions than it answered. Maybe Henry didn't have the courage to look into his brother after he gave him a little 'friendly' talk. Yet the thinly veiled threats Victor had made shouldn't have been enough to get the teacher looking into Dr.Two-Brains. There was also the fact that Henry had no idea that Victor could find out who was hacking. Perhaps the man was intelligent enough to have the heat on someone else just in case they were found out, but he didn't seem like the type to do so. Especially to someone he had entrusted The Society to. Victor was going to have to get a few agents to take a little trip to check out why they decided to hack like they did. Maybe Robert Lanyon had someone to do with Miss Itos hacking. It would be expected when the man's father had been murdered. Perhaps he wanted to make sure that Henry was safe. Maybe this man was protecting Henry from someone who was threatening him. This could've had the culprit retaliate against the doctor by going after Henry or Robert could be responsible for his own father's murder and for Mr. Carew's attempted murder. The reason both Mr. Hyde and Henry left could be because Robert was threatening one and framing the other. Victor felt a headache coming on. For now, he was going to find out exactly where Robert was. If he wanted to take over The Society, he would've easily done so. Yet he didn't, instead only oversaw important business. He couldn't scratch any of his theories out just yet. He didn't know what was going on, but he was going to find out. He didn't realize that Eris had finally gotten home. He didn't notice the sound of the apartment door opening and closing. “Victor, are you okay? You look like you're stressed about something.” He expressed his concern, brows furrowed. “Eris! I'm fine. I was just overthinking some things.” Eris went over to Victor and placed a kiss on his temple. “Get some rest, my sweet. You'll be able to figure things out better with fresh eyes.” Victor smiled at his boyfriend. “You're right. I'll take a nap. If you'll join me.” Eris smiled at that. He found Victor endearing. The toymaker closed his laptop. Meanwhile in another part of the city, two people were arguing. “Must you stalk these people? I would rather not have the police sniffing around if they take legal action.” The woman shook her head. “It is necessary. I must save that girl from that horrid man. Who knows what he could do to them. I'm doing what is right.” The blond man shook his head. “You admitted that you were interested in our plan.” Calvin frowned at that. “I didn't do anything too crazy. I promise.” Athena muttered under her breath. Athena began to pace a bit. She wanted Dr.Two-Brains to break and admit who he is. “You're making me dizzy, cousin.”

Athena gave a weak glare towards Calvin's rudeness. "You know I can't help it. I haven't been the same after what that demon did to me!" Athena snapped back. Calvin merely huffed. Deep down, he couldn't help but feel some intimidation from the mouse man, especially when he knew what that abomination was capable of. At first, Calvin was shocked to hear what the man did to his cousin. He had always viewed Steven, or Gene, or whatever it called himself, as a sniveling worm with goody moral ethics. He never thought that the man was capable of doing something that heinous, even with his paternal instincts heightened. Things made much more sense to Calvin once he learned of his former coworker's family background. "Very well. Continue with your plans. I have other matters to attend to." Calvin exclaimed in a haughty tone, waving off Athena's anger. Athena gave him a suspicious look. "What are you planning that is more important than my mission?" She inquired. "Well why you have been playing vigilante stalker to a babysitter and her charge, I have been looking into the reason for the Mad Science League's sudden movement here." Calvin explained. Athena looked surprised at that. "Adrian Barton is here?" The B.E.A.W labs' leader has expressed interest in the mysterious Mad Science League. A small group of scientists lead by a self proclaimed immortal man whose made it his mission to fight against tyranny and corruption of the higher classes. Adrian Barton and his associates had proven too slippery for capture due to the man's chaotic and unpredictable movements. Athena was curious and confused as to why he came here of all places. "We don't know why he is here or what business he has, but for some reason he has made himself more open in public though he has maintained a cautious guard. I last saw him talking with Professor Doohickey, though I highly doubt the reason he came to this city was to help the man's predicament." Calvin answered as if he seemed to understand what his cousin was thinking. "Do you think it has something to do with the murder of Mr. Hastie Lanyon?" Athena asked as she recalled hearing about the murder. Calvin shook his head. "I doubt Barton was behind that. He has a clear hatred for the rich and elite, but he would have been more subtle in killing that man, actually making it look like a robbery in progress that went bad. There is another reason why Mr. Barton is here. One in which I intend to find out. So hopefully your antics won't interfere in my mission. Good day Athena." Soon Calvin walked away, leaving the deranged woman to her own thoughts and delusions. "Blimey! Those cleaners know how to clean out goop stains. It looks brand new." Hyde exclaimed in a joyous tone once he received his outfit from Rachel. "Yep. It appears people getting their clothes ruined by goop is a common occurrence around here. So they developed a new way to remove the stains and residue even thought it takes a lot of time. It's definitely well worth it. I must say." Rachel replied with agreement. Hyde ginned widely at his clean outfit. He then looked back towards Rachel. "So, anything happened while ah was gone?" Hyde inquired. Rachel quickly shook her head. "Not really. Like I said, we waited a long time at the cleaners. Also Wordgirl showed up trying to stop a robbery caused by Lady Redundant Woman. She gave a wave to Amber before she flew off. Amber got a little fussy on the way home, but it was likely due to us being out for so long. She's fine now." Rachel explained. Hyde nodded but the usually grinning blonde had a serious expression as he thought back to what happened and what Whiskers admitted to him. "Did Wordgirl seem okay to ye?" Hyde inquired. Rachel looked confused by his question and expression. "She seemed alright to me. Why do you ask?" Rachel was surprised to hear Hyde express genuine concern for anyone that wasn't Amber, herself, or one of the lodgers. Funny next gen headcanon. A music producer heard Dr. Two Brains 'Dr. Cool Brains' rap. He approached Dr. Two Brains before he got the mouse brain removed and asked to buy the song from the mad scientist promising royalties. Two Brains agreed and Steven forgotten about the exchange until some time later when radios and records of the Dr. Coo Brains rap were being played around Fair City. Steven now understood where he got these royalty checks from time to time. He thought it was because of his old inventions. Suffice to say neither Chase nor Becky were happy with the development. Especially since the song has become popular, not top ten charts but still pretty well known and liked.

Supergirl - ‘Menagerie’ Review

Kara: “I need to get out of here before I eat all your valentines.”

With his P.I. shingle newly hung outside his office, J'onn welcomes new clients. Trying to take her mind off what happened at the DEO, Kara decides to team up with J'onn on his latest assignment, which ends up tying directly into Alex's current investigation that involves the villain Menagerie. Meanwhile, Lena shares some news with James, but his reaction isn't what she expected. Nia invites Brainy to her Valentine's Day party.

Several threads were extended in this episode. The acting was good, and the storylines believable (you know, as long as you accept the world). But I felt as if things were missing.

We meet a villain, Menagerie, from the DC universe, who conveniently eats human hearts, tying into the rather overdone Valentine Day theme. Alex goes looking for the monster, and Kara – as journalist – tries to help her sister, but the collaboration doesn’t really work. Alex, whose mind-wipe means that she no longer remembers that Kara = Supergirl, keeps trying to protect her sister even when Kara doesn't need protection.

The DEO isn’t the only one in pursuit of Menagerie, but J'onn / Supergirl and the Children of Liberty are chasing her as well. Oh, and Nia Nal finally dons her own superhero outfit and shows up for the fight too, just in time to help Supergirl with the snakes (but why was Supergirl having trouble with the snakes?). Anyway, Menagerie gets caught pretty quickly. This is not an episode with the entire planet, or even all of National City, at risk.

James and Lena, our only real couple, broke up, of course, on Valentine’s Day, after James said that working with the US military on giving super powers to humans was a bad idea, as they would weaponize it. I tend to have more sympathy with the humans on this, because an army can’t afford to bring a knife to a gun fight. Note that this means that the next generation of humans, although descended from the previous generation, will be fundamentally different from them, something that happens much more than people may realize (points, alas, that were not discussed). Although the break-up of James and Lena was, as she pointed out, "inevitable" – they really want to go in different directions as people – it was rude of Lena to break up with him like that, kicking him to the curb, especially after she asked James to serve as her conscience in that very matter. Oh, well, she knows he's the Guardian, so he can take care of himself.

Hmm, does this mean that James will go out with Kara again? Lena's got her research arc, but James has little going on, except as Kara's boss.

Or would we ever see Alex and Kara together? Because they actually love each other the most. I guess that’s incest and forbidden, but they really are the heart of the series.

Agent Liberty was released, allegedly because the president’s staff found a technical reason to do so, but really because he was more popular than President Baker (who I keep wanting to call President Boxleitner, but that’s the name of the actor) and so by releasing Liberty, Baker expects for his own poll numbers to go up.

It looks as if Menagerie will be teaming up with Manchester Black.

So, what was I missing? More conflict and more tugs at the heartstrings for Kara. She has no love interest any more. I don’t sense that people are trying to figure out her identity, when that was such a powerful aspect of previous episodes. One way to do this would to have her succumb to some Supergirl affliction and have to hide it from Alex.

Title musings: "Menagerie" is the title of the episode, referring to the introduction of the new villain. I don’t see that it applies to anything or anyone else. And this is where I wish that they had called the episode “Live in the Moment,” as that was certainly the theme of the episode. We see it in nearly everyone, from Agent Liberty giving that advice to his son, to Nia Nal deciding to put on that costume, to Brainy’s multitasking, to even Colonel Haley having a life.

Bits and pieces

Obviously an episode for Valentine’s Day, but awkwardly placed. It’s unusual to have something like this after the holiday, but given the break between episodes, it would have been even stranger several weeks ago. Maybe the schedule got changed after the episode was already in production.

The National City Heart Association’s Masquerade Ball must have been going on pretty late given that Nia and her roommate had already ended their party, and Nia’s roommate does not look like the type to settle for an early night.

Marshmallow roses look amazingly decadent. I don't think my teeth or my blood sugar level could tolerate even one bite.

Menagerie, at least, has the sense to put up her hair when she’s out doing her thing. Nia Nal’s long dark hair is attractive but that’s got to get in the way of fighting.

Lena mentions to Alex that she has a daughter, humanizing her.

J’onn or the DEO should go after Brainy for stealing scenes. His are always great!

When I read the summary of the plot, I was afraid that they were going to be introducing a whole bunch of new characters, especially lots of aliens, through J'onn's PI business. However, he was being consulted by a human (albeit a very alien-friendly human, the wife of the guy who introduced the Alien Amnesty Act). And we were not overwhelmed by a whole bunch of new characters, so that's good.

Overall rating

A pleasant hour of television. But it could have been so much more. Two and a half out of four marshmallow roses.
