Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Main plot: Murdock, Friede Minor part: Rockruff, Mollie, Orla, Ludlow Mentioned: Katy, Liko, Dot, Roy, Blanca
Ships: FriedexMurdock also called Capncrunchshipping or Airfryshipping
Summary:
The story plays right after the fight against BlackRayquaza and before the Trio offically start their training at the Orange academy.
Murdock seems to work in Katys bakery and logically should stay in this town during that time. So I wanted to explore his feelings about being away from everyone, especially Friede and how they spend their last night together before being apart for a while. Lots of emotions, kisses and a little suggestive part at the end <3
Three days have passed since the big fight against BlackRayquaza, were the Brave Asagi got heavely damaged. It is heartbreaking to see their home being in this terrible state, but luckily nobody was injured during this incident and that's the most important thing. The ship can be fixed after all...even if it might take a while until they can go back to what they are used to...until the ship is filled with chaos and laughter again instead of silence and working noises. For the time being Liko went back to her parents house and Dot and Roy were able to stay at Blancas place until they can officially start with their Terastal training at the Orange academy. Only the adults stayed at the ship for now, but as soon as Orla officially begins with the repair they gonna have to stay at a hotel to not be in her way.
Murdock was sitting in his room heaving out a big sigh. He was glad that at least the kids could stay at a more positive environment right now. Seeing the damaged ship everyday just would make them relive this scary experience over and over again. Or that what he is believing anyways, knowing that he himslef is still struggeling with getting that disaster out of his head. He kept a brave face in front of the children, but in reality the cook was as scared as them, not knowing what happens next. Can the ship really be fixed completely? What are they gonna do if it's not possible? Will this the be end end of the RVTs? The cook couldn't help himself but worrying about these questions. Friede seems more faithful then him or at least knows how to overplay such thoughts. "PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!" Murdock scolded himself while he slapped his own hands against his cheeks, squeezing them with a slight agression. "You are not a child anymore, so don't act like one!" Murdock remaind in this position for a while before he loosened his grip, letting out another deep sigh.
The chef inhaled and exhaled sharly several times to calm his nerves. There is no time to feel scared. He knows exactly what he has to do. In fact everyone knew repairing the ship wont be an easy task and will keep Orla busy. But for the mechanic to even being able to start with this endeavor, she needs materials and that in turn means they need money. Lots of money. So Murdock already decided what he personally can do to help. After all working hard is something he can do best.
A small smile formed on his lips while he looked at his phone. Only yesterday he mailed an application adressed to Katy's bakery in Cortondo, hopeing she gonna accept him and allow the pastry chef to work there until the ship is as good as new. To Murdocks surprise she personally called him back this moring to tell him he's hired. Needless to say that the chef almost dropped his phone, because he was so nervouse and honestly didn't expect such a fast answer, let alone a positive one. And on top of that he was told he can already start working in five days. Though the cook needs to leave a day earlier to get the keys for the small room he rented near the bakery, right after this hopeful phonecall earlier.
His smile fastly shifted to a more sad one. Working there means he need to leave for a while and live in that town...thinking about that fact alone made him feel wistful. Murdock don't even wanna think about getting seperated from everyone for an extended period of time that he cannot yet grasp. Especially being apart from Friede fills his thoughts with horror. Having him around all the time feels so natural and became part of his daily life. Being able to go to the other man whenever he wants, just to hang out or when he feels overwhelmed or just needs a safe place. Simply just having him by his side, to feel his touch, his warmth. Before Murdock completly got comsumed by his fear he felt something cautiously licking his hand. The cook was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't noticed his puppy climbed on his lap. Rockruff knew somethings was wrong and visible was worried about it's dad. "Sorry I didn't wanted to worry you." Murdock automatically wore a soft smile and gently patted his puppies head before he lifted it up to pepper it with kisses. Cuddeling with his little angel certainly helped to ground him and let him tackle this decision rationally. The chef knew that he had to tell Friede at some point, but he also didn't want his boyfriend to start brooding about this and having to go through all those feelings for days now as a result just like him...one suffering is enough. Murdock settled to only tell Mollie, Orla and Ludlow about his plans for now.
As expected the two woman appreciated his plans but side-eyed him when he pleaded them to not say a word to Friede about that. Nointhenless they gladly did respect his wish who he was very thankfull for. From this point on Murdock tried to tell Friede as well several times. When they were shopping together, when Friede was keeping him company while cooking, when they went for a walk...he tried to tell him...he really tried but everytime he chickened out the last second and brushed it off, finding a silly excuse for his strange behaviour. There was no way that the professor didn't started to get sceptical.
And before Murdock knew it the day before his departure had arrived. It already was dinner time to be exact. The chef was spending most of the day in the kitchen to make everyones fave meals. He just had too, because he doesn't know when he will be able to cook for them again. Murdock could feel tears filling up his eyes, but hastely blinked them away, before he served it all up. "Hope you all are hungry, because I made plenty!" the chef voiced with a bright smile while watching everyone slowly gathering around the table.
"That smells great!" Friede took in the scent a bit more before sitting down and filling up his plate. Orla and Mollie digged into the food as well. Ludlow on the other hand just silently watched the scene for now, sipping his tea, observing, already knowing something gonna happen. And he didn't have to wait long. "So delicious! I gonna miss Murdocks food!" Orla spouted out, mouth full. "ORLA!" Mollie promptly scolded her, but the brown-haired woman didn't realized what she just said. Murdock on the other hand froze in place, wanting to run away. "Please don't let Friede have heard that!" the cook was pleading in his mind. But the white-haired man DID hear and now looked at Orla with a very confused look on his face, swallowing down his food before asking "Hmm? What do you mean you gonna miss his food?" Realisation hit Orlas brain like a thunder bolt. She didn't meant to say that and tried to hastly come up with an excuse. "Ah that...well I mean when we start staying at the hotel he won't be able to cook there right?" Orla cleared up while slightly laughing awkwardly. "Right Murdock?" she then added hoping he gonna help covering her white lie but to everyones surprise his seat was empty. The tall man must have taken the oppertunity to leave while all eyes were on the mechanic. Friede felt like a fool and was visably confused. The professor hated when he didn't know what was happening and didn't realized how his face got very serious. "What is this all about?" he now asked with a slighty annoyed sound in his voice. The damage was already done so there was no reason to keep up this farce. "We promised Murdock to not tell you, I don't know why he asked for that though, so it might be better to ask him yourself." Mollie finally explained. The conference room was now overshadowed by a negative vibe.
"Listen to the wind, it talks. Listen to the silence, it speaks. Listen to your heart, it knows." Ludlow spoke with a calm and encouraging voice, breaking the uncomforteable silence that had settle over the group. Friede stared at his gramps for a moment before his eyes wandered back to his plate of food. His face slowly shifted into a sad but also concerened and betrayed expression. What did Murdock felt comforteable enough to tell literally everyone but him? He needed to know but...if he haven't told him yet why should he tell him now? Friede suddenly started to heavily shake his head, trying to get rid of those unwanted thoughts. With his eyes now filled with determination, the professor promptly finished his fill and then headed to the kitchen, were he was sure to find his 'target'. Ludlow was smiling as he saw the young man leaving the room ready to clear things up. When Friede entered the kitchen Murdock was busy washing the dishes not daring to look at the smaller man. The professor didn't knew how to start the conversation, he wants to know what the chef is hiding from him, but he also doesn't want to pressure him either. The white-haired man is certain that the cook must have a reason why he haven't told him yet, so he tries to approach the subject slowly. "That was delicious as always. I'm full!" Friede praised, putting on a smile. It wasn't a fake smile though, he meant what he said. Murdocks food is always the tastiest, still he felt more like crying right now. The taller man was taken abakt by that, because he was sure Friede straight up gonna confront him and ask him questions. "I'm glad to hear that. It means a lot to me. Thank you." the cook looked at Friede for a short moment to return the smile, before focusing at the dishes again. An awkward silence filled the whole kitchen. The only sound left was the suttle cliring of the table ware Murdock kept cleaning.
With every minute passing the chef started to get more nervouse. "That's your last proper chance to tell him you idiot!" Murdock started to scold himself in his thoughts. "COME ONE JUST TELL HIM YOU COWARD!" his thoughts went further and the cook got so angry at himself, that he abruptly stopped in his tracks, starteling Friede a little. Murdock was snapped back to reality by a gently touch on his shoulder. It was Friede who now was giving him a worried but warm glance. The cook took a deep breath and slowly let out the air again.
"I'm gonna leave tomorrow to work at Katy's bakery in Cortondo and wont be back for a while. We need that money or Orla can't fix the ship so it's unavoideable." Murdock started to explain, pausing for a moment to inhale deeply before continuing. "I wanted to tell you earlier, but the more I tried the more I couldn't bring myself too..." his voice now started to tremble "If..." he had to clear his throat before being able to continue. "If I had told you four days ago, you surley couldn't have helped but brood about me leaving all these days...and I didn't want you to go through the same thoughts that kept haunting me over and over again...I gonna miss you ya know?" the cook couldn't hold his tears back anymore and started to sob bitterly. "I'm so sorry I couldn't tell you until now I'm..." before he could speak any further he was pulled into a tight hug, while a hand gently caressed his back. "You idiot..." the small man said with a shaky voice himself. "You choose to keep all this feelings to yourself because you didn't wanted to make me suffer but..." Friede now had teary eyes as well "But imagine how you must have felt all those days, being all alone with those thoughts...that's what breaks my heart!"
"I'm so sorry...i didn't mean to hurt your feelings...I'm sorry...I'm sorry..." Murdock's voice softened as he continued to apologize, hugging Friede even tighter, but gentle enough so the smaller man could still breath properly. "Shhh it's okay I'm not mad at you." The smaller man kept stroking Murdocks back in gentle and firm circles to calm him down. This went on for quite a while until Friede felt that the other mans sobbing eased. He then proceed to sat down Murdock on the small wooden stool, who was busy wiping away his tears and was still softly sobbing.
"I want to apologize myself...No I need to apologize to you!" the white-haird man stated while he rubbed the back of his head. Murdock just looked at him with wide eyes, waiting for Friede to continue. "The words gramps said to me before had me thinking. I mean you did act a bit strange all of a sudden, but I refused to question it any further believing you surley gonna tell me if somethings the matter and..." "So you did notice..." Murdocks eyes wandered to the side in embarressment. Friede had to giggle at that sight. "Are you kidding me? When we went for a walk yesterday you literally kept staring at me with such an intense look , that you ended up running into a street lamp!" Friede now started to chuckle. "You should have seen your face!" and with that he bursted out into laughter. "STOP LAUGHING THAT'S NOT FUNNY!" Murdock tried to complain, but the moment he saw Friedes genuin smile while laughing like crazy he couldn't help himslef but join, laughing away all their worries. A few minutes passed and they now were sitting on the floor, right next to each other, tummies still hurting from their laughing fit. "Guess we are both idiots!" the cook stated while beaming a smile at Friede who returned the favour agreeing with a cheerfull "Yeah!"
And without a warning Friede was leaning in for a passionate kiss, making the tall man shudder in surprise. As soon as their lips touched Murdock literally melted into this sensation. The cook gently layed his hands around the other mans arms to pull him even closer. Both of them let themselve fully taken in by this moment, there hearts are pounding in synch, hoping this pleasent feeling would never fade. They tried to delay the unavoideable, but unfortunatly they had to break the kiss at some point to breath again. Now staring into each others eyes with such warmth.
"Soooo we can either have some fun now or just cuddle all night." Friede now looked at Murdock with playful eyes and a cheeky smile. The cook just looked at him with wide eyes, cheeks still rosy. He tightened his grip a little, his eyes nervousely flickering back and forth from looking into Friedes eyes to staring into the void. Friede just amusingly watched his future husband getting all flustered, while waiting for an answer. "Wh-Why not both?" the cook finally managed to declare, taking the professor by surprise, not that he is complaining though. He kinda was hoping for that outcome, because he wants both of them to enjoy this night to the fullest. "Never thought you can get greedy." the smaller man sassily returned, while purposly coming closer to Murdock's face who then started to pout a little "So what if I'm a little greedy?" the chef playfully growled back. "Nothing wrong with that." Friede assured while trying to kiss Murdock again. The emphasis is on 'trying' because his attempt got stopped by a big hand gently pressing against his lips. "W-Wait! N-not here!! Besides I need to clean the kitchen first and..." the cook got cut off mid-sentence by Friedes lips sealing his once again. It was only a short lived kiss this time meant to stop Murdock from blabbering nonsens. Friede now was looking into Murdocks eyes dead serious. "As if I would let you do the chores right now, the dishes won't run away, I gonna deal with them tomorrow." the yellow-eyed man explained. "But...!" Murdock tried to argue, but this time it was Friede pressing his hand against the cooks lips. "No buts! I already let the others know so don't worry!" the professor replied with a snippish grin while holding up his phone to show Murdock that he in fact send a message.
»Just put your dishes in the kitchen later. I'll deal with them tomorrow. I have to take care of Murdock tonight <3«
"T-Taking ca-care of me?" Murdocks cheeks turned into an even more intense pink admitting his defeat "G-Guess I have no choice then!" he stutterd softly. Pleased to hear that, Friede then purposely placed his hand on Murdocks crotch, making the cook jump at the sudden touch. His whole head turned into a bright red now and before the professor could make his next move he got lifted up by Murdock, bridal style. The cook now was dashing into his room, while gently carrying the smaller man in his arms, locking the door behind him before he allowed himself to be all over Friede.
At the same time in the kitchen:
"Guess we better sleep with our ear plugs in tonight." Mollie said after she read Friede's message while looking at Orla, who visibly was relieved about this outcome. With their minds at peace the two woman continued eating. Ludlow did join them as well now and was seemingly happy.
The next morning:
Friede and Murdock layed in bed cuddeling together. The smaller man was resting his head againsts the cooks chest, while the taller man wrapped his arms around him. Both were snoozing softly, enjoying this harmonic atmospehere until Murdocks alarm rang. The chef turned it off as fast as he could so Friede not gonna get waken up from it. He had to blink his eyes open several times before his vision was clear and he could see Friedes peaceful face, thankfully still sleeping. The cook decided it won't hurt to stay in bed for five more minutes, before he cautiously climbed out to not wake up the other man. He didn't want too, but he needed to leave soon so he had to dress up and get ready. When he came back from the bathroom he found Friede right were he left him and couldn't hold back a smile. He looked cute when he was peacefully sleeping. Murdock than hastly pulled out his phone to snap a shot he can look at whenever he misses Friede. Not that he already has a full album full of that. Happy with the result he now was thinking about waking the professor up to properly say goodbye for now. But wouldn't that be selfish? To tear him from his sleep just to catch another kiss? As Murdock was mostly silently debating with himself to either wake up the other man or not he suddenly got hugged from behind. The smaller man tightly wrapped his arms around him. "Good morning!" Friede muttered while letting out a big yawn. "G-Good Morning Friede. Did I wake you up?" the cook replied. "Nah I was already awake before you climed out of bed, but I wanted to let you get ready in peace." The white-haired man explained while he released the hug trying to catch a glimpse of Murdock's cell phone "Sooo did you get a nice shot?" Friede asked with a cheeky voice resulting in a high pitched scream leaving the cooks mouth, while the latter tried to hide his phone. But that just made Friede even more curious, now wearing a big grin on his face "I know you made a photo of me while I was supposetly asleep." Murdock was now trying to hide his blushing face behind his phone. "M-Ma-Maybe!" he managed to stutter out. "Good thing I also got a cute shot from you." the smaller man joyfully chirped. A small chuckle left the professors mouth when he saw the chef getting all flustered. Friede then took his chance to pull his boyfriend into a kiss, which immediately made the bigger man calmer. Both closed their eyes and enjoyed this delicate moment. Taking in every second, burning this feeling into their brains. They whined a little when they had to part, but they knew it was now time for Murdock to go. " Don't overwork yourself okay?" Friede wanted to make sure and with a "Don't be too reckless okay?" and a warm smile Murdock then left for his new temporary job.

—————————
Valentine's recipe: A pinch of anxiety and 2 cups of love.
The Brave Asagi smoothly flying through the sky towards there next destination. A lot has happened lately so this little breather is very welcomed. Just one hour ago everyone was eating dinner together. Especially having Dot joining those events now regularly makes Murdock still emotional. He still remembers how hard he tried to find some comfort food for his niece to enjoy and now she keeps eating normaly with everyone. So as always, Murdock yet again put all his heart into the dishes he created and the smiles on everyones faces told him that it was a success once more. The cook doesn't mind all the time and work it takes to make, seeing how everyone on the crew enjoys his handmade meals is the best he could ever wish for and makes his efforts all worth. Yet...he is struggeling with a rather special creation.
It's already dark outside and Murdock is sitting at his desk. Only a small cupcake shaped lamp is illumiating his room. Friede was the one that gifted him the lamp two years ago and he treasures it dearly since. Several sheets of papers are scattered around his table. Some of them are filled with notes and sketches and some others are crumbled up. The brown-haird man eagerly writes down any idea and thought that come to his mind, softly muttering to himself. "...hmm how about this recipe....I have chocolate, milk, sugar, food-coloring...but I don't have enough eggs left...maybe I can buy some when we land the next time...no we don't plan to land anytime soon so that won't work...ARGH!!" The chef heaved out a big sigh in frustration, while scrunching up the paper with his hands. Murdock let himself fall forward on his desk burying his head into his arms in defeat. "Why can't I come up with a single recipe that works?" The cook uttered out, feeling like he reached a dead end. At this moment somthing small and fluffy jumped on his lap, making him slowly sit up again. He was met with a concerend "Ruff?" and two blue-eyes looking worried at him. It was his Rockruff that was soundly sleeping on the bed just a minute ago. "Did Papa wake you up?" Murdock asked softly while petting his puppies head "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you up my little angel" he continued, now hugging Rockruff and peppering it's head with kisses. The puppy was now licking his dads cheek, still giving him a troubled look that didn't go unnoticed by the cook. Murdock gently placing his puppy back on his lap, tenderly stroking it's head. "Don't worry I'm fine." the brown-haird man started, beaming a smile at Rockruff. "It's just..." he paused shortly to breath in sharply "In two day is Valentines Day and I want to make some sweets for Friede, but no matter how hard I try I can't think of something unique and special...if I have a good idea then it fails because I don't have enough ingredients at hand..." Murdock now found himself playing with his puppies paws, softly pressing it's toe beans. He can't explain why, but for some reason touching them calms his mind.
The chef didn't realized that he fell into a kind of daze, until a familiar voice snapped him back. "Oi Murdock are you okay?" Friede was standing right next to him, wearing a worried expression on his face. Murdock simply staring at him, trying to process the situation. "Hey can you hear me?" The white-haird man kept asking, now gently pressing his right palm on the chefs head to check his temperature, just in case. This soothing sensation finally cleared up Murdocks mental haze "FRIEDE!?" the cook yelled out, finally grasping the situation he found himself in."W-when did you get in here!!??" Murdock nervously questioned his boyfriend, trying to hide the notes and sketches he made earlier, that still are scattered over his whole desk, in a panic. Friede was visably confused about his lovers strange behaviour. "I knocked on the door several times, but got no response so I came in and find you sitting here staring into the void." the smaller man explained. "Are you okay?" Friede asked once again, but this time his voice was full of sorrow.
"Y-yeah I'm fine, I just was d-doing some stuff and lost track of time. Th-that's all." the cook stuttered, letting out a nervouse chuckle while clinging to all the papers he collected. That made Friede even more suspicious. So he tried to get a glance on the papers Murdock was holding like his life depended on it. But before he could see a single thing, the chef shoved them all into the next best drawer. Both man now awkwardly stayed there for a while, the room went completely silent. "Sooo what brings you here Friede?" the larger man tried to change the subject and the uncomforteable mood that was laying in the air, hoping Friede would just play into it. "What about you tell me why you are acting so weird?" the white-haird man countered instead. His voice showed a hint of annoyance while still sounding concerened. That's exactly the respons the cook hoped to avoid and he knew that his lover won't fall for any further excuses. Realising that, Murdocks expression instantly changed to a rather gloomy and distressed one, facing away from the other man. He can't just tell Friede of all people that he struggles to make a special gift for HIM for Valentines Day...how pathetic...the cook starts to harshly clutch his pants with his fists, being upset about himself and his inability to hide his emotions better, making it so easy for Friede to read him like an open book.
Friede noticed his fiancé feeling more and more uneasy and is desperatly thinking about a way to calm him down, without upsetting him even more. But he has no idea what is even bothering the other. His thoughts got interrupted by a rather strong pull on his pants. Looking down he saw Rockruff trying to get his attention. "Hey buddy what's up?" he cheerfully asked the puppy while squatting down. With an unwavering "Ruff! Ruff!" the puppy picked up a piece of paper with it's mouth, wanting Friede to look at it. "Hmm? What is this?" inquisitivly he grabbed the piece of paper, patting Rockruffs head gently in return. This must be one of the papers that Murdock desperatly tried to hide from him. Now studying it's contents, the smaller man finally could tell what burdens the cook. "Thanks for showing me, that really helped me a lot!" once again petting the puppies head who still gave him a sad look. "Don't worry I gonna take care of your dad. He will be fine." the white-haired man reassured Rockruff one last time, giving him a soft smile, before straighten up himself from his position on the floor.
Friede's face tensed up when he saw Murdock still standing there, probably arguing with himself. He hated to see his lover like this. The distressed, almost frightend expression on his face, broke the professors heart. The cook was so deep in thoughts that no words went through to him. So the yellow-eyed man had to change his approach and gently touched Murdocks hand, making his grip loosen up instantly. Only then was Friede able to take the other mans hand to lead him to the bed so he could sit down. The chef needed a moment before his mind was back at the present, now feeling the warm and tender touch of Friedes hand. "S-Sorry I kinda got lost on thoughts I guess...Ahahaha..." the brown-eyed man weakly smiled, scratching the back of his head in embarressment. Before he could say any more, two hands delicately were cupping his cheeks, forcing him to look at Friedes glowing yellow eyes. "You don't need to make something extra special for me okay?" the professor was looking at him with a serious but worried expression, his intense stare made the cook shudder a bit. "W-Wait!?? How do you know that!??" is all his brain could manage right now while getting out of Friedes grip in a reflex, earning him a noticable grunt as a reaction. "Seems like you missed a paper on the floor. Rockruff found it and showed it to me." Friede stated in a slighty upset and snippish tone and proceeds to grab Murdocks face once again, but this time with a bit more force. "You better listen clearly to what I have to say now okay?" the smaller man insisted, staring at Murdock in anticipation. The cook was confused as why Friede looked at him with such a serious expression, yet he couldn't sense a single sign of anger or anything similar. It was the complete opposite. Those yellow eyes were full of love and understanding. With a faint but firmly "Mm-hmm!" he siginalised Friede that he has his full attention.
Only then changed the smaller mans expression to a warm and soft smile. "Good, because what I'm about to say is very important." the white-haired man explained, taking in a deep breath before continuing. "I know you love to see everyone's smiles, thinking how you can improve and make it even better the next time. Refining your recipes whenever you have the chance and I understand and admire that, but..." Friede stopped talking shortly to let go of Murdocks face, placing his hands on his instead. "But it's also okay to leave things unchanged. Not everything needs improvement to make someone happy. Also, your chocolate already is the best and most delicious! Do you know why?" Murdocks heart skipped a beat after getting hit by the brightes smile. He felt his cheeks heating up within seconds, painting them in a faint pink. But Friede just got started and now reached out to gently hold the chefs hands, slightly squeezing them. "Your chocolate is special because YOU make it. I can find tasty chocolate everywhere, but no one can recreate yours. You are the only one that can make your homemade chocolate and that makes it the most special." Friede was still holding eye contact and showed his most precious smile. Murdock was at a loss of words, blinking away some tears that started to fill up in his eyes. "T-Thank you Friede!" the cook cheerfully beamed a big smile at the other man in return. His mind felt much lighter now and he tried to soak in this peaceful moment. Friedes hand felt so gentle and warm, making the chef feel save and loved.
"Besides, you don't have to impress me anymore." the professor suddenly added, his voice full of love, pulling up their hands towards the light until their engagement rings sparkeled up. "You already caught me ya know!?" That turned Murdocks already pink cheeks into a glowing shade of red. He felt so embarrassed, but for some reason he couldn't stop smiling. "I'm sure lucky!" he chirped not able to hide his happiness. Friede could only giggle at this sight. "You are my most valuable treasure." he proudly declared, getting a giggle out of Murdock as well. "You are the secret incredient that makes my recipe complete!" those honest words litereally gushed out of the cook, unfiltered. Now it was Friedes turn to blush like crazy and Murdock felt thrilled about his archievment, his heart racing in his chest. The chef couldn't help but be seduced by this pleasent athmosphere. Without hesitation he passionatly sealed Friedes lips with his. Both of them got complety absorbed by this sweet flavour of love. Their private moment got cut short when Rockruff pressed his front paws against their legs, happily wiggling it's tail. Murdock wasted no time and picked up his puppy, hugging it tightly. "Who is daddies little baby?" the cook lovingly asked and barely could finsih his sentence before Rockruff affectionately started to lick all over his face. "See I told you that I take care of your dad!" Friede joyfully disclaimed. The puppy saw that as an invation to jump at the smaller man, now licking the professors face to say Thank you. The two men then decided to spend the night together, cuddeling tightly, rounding off this sweet moment.
Two days later on Valentines Day: Murdock was busy in the kitchen, cleaning up after breakfast. He made pancakes today, a wish the kids asked him for, so of course he delivered. Friede was the only one missing this morning, but that's always the case when he was in charge of the night shift. That perfectly played into Murdocks plan to surprise his sweetheart, by bringing breakfast right to his bed. The chef was humming delightfully, already thinking about the smile on Friedes face he is about to see soon. He carefully arranged two pancakes on a plate, placing several small bowls with different topping and fillings around it. Jam, syrup, fruits, ham, bacon, cheese, chocolate and Alcremies special whipped cream. Murdock made sure to have a varity of sweet and savoury options to pick from. The cook now was heading to the fridge to take out a pink box. A yellow ribbon on top was completing the design. Did it look rather simple? Yes. Did it bother him in any way? No. Not anymore. After his heartfelt conversation with Friede the other day, he felt way more secure and all his anxiety was washed away. The sketch Rockruff happened to show Friede that day turned out to be the very first idea Murdock had noted down. So when the cook woke up the day after he had no more doubts about what he wanted to make. All thanks to his puppy trying to help him and Friedes honest speech. The professor always managed to find the right words and could read his mind so easily. He really wondered sometimes how he was able to do that. Anyways, Murdock was sure Friede gonna love his gift. With a cheerful smile on his lips he placed the box onto the tray and completed the set up with a freshly made cup of coffee.
The cook carfully carried the tray with all the goods to Friedes room, cautiously opening the door without making a noise, to not accidentally wake the other man up just yet. After placing the tray silently on the nightstand, his eyes wandered to the bed. As the chef expected, Friede was still sleeping deeply, laying on his side, snoring soundly. Murdock couldn't resist to catch a quick photo of this cute sight, adding it straight to his special gallery of adorable Friede moments. Without further ado the chef moved on to the next step. He discreetly sat down on the edge of the bed, closing his eyes. The cook was about to lean forward to wake up the sleeping beauty with a kiss on his cheek. However, before he was able to do that he got pulled down and was met by soft lips instead. Murdock was slightly startled, but this feeling was promptly replaced by the warmth of the kiss, letting him fully embrace this moment. The lack of oxygen forced them to part away and the two men were now smiling at each other. "Good morning. I thought you were still asleep." The brown-haired man softly spoke. "The smell." Friede started, while slowly sitting up to stretch out his limbs. A questioning "Hmm?" escaped the cooks mouth, not knowing what Friede is trying to tell him. "That pleasent scent of freshly made coffee and pancakes woke me up." the smaller man now explained while pointing at the tray full of food. Hearing that Murdocks face immediatly lit up "Then I hope you are hungry." he replied with a bright grin. Friedes growling stomach swiftly answered that question, so the white-haird man wasted no time to dig into his breakfast. Being able to enjoy Murdocks homemade meals everyday is like a dream. Every bite was a pleasure. The cook simply watched his fiancè stuffing his face, his smile growing wider with every bite. This was the sight the chef was looking forward to see.
It didn't take long before the pink box catched Friedes eyes. His heart started to beat faster, as he went to pick it up to get a closer look. The longer he hold it and stared at it the faster his heart started to beat. A warm touch on his left shoulder made him look to the side. Murdock looked at him with a encouraging smile and rosy cheeks, signaling him to go ahead and open it. After taking a deep breath, Friede carefully removed the lid of the box, his eyes sparkling of exciment as he saw the contents. Inside was a love letter. But not a normal one. It was a pastry folded like an envelope. covered in powdered sugar, sealed wit a heart. After letting this cute design sink in for a while the yellow-eyed man continued to explore this gift, carefully opening the "envelope". A pink chocolate bar was peeking out from the core, immitating a letter. It smelled like strawberry. Friede couldn't stop smiling, kicking his feet in excitment as he pulled out the "letter". A short message was written on it with normal chocolate. You are the secret incredient that makes my recipe complete!" <3". Those were the exact same words Murdock had giving him two days ago. Friede could feel how his eyes started to tear up, but he tried to hold them back for now. The deliciose smell made the professors mouth water. He couldn't wait any longer and needed to get a taste sof this sweet delicacy. The chocolate melted on his tongue and the sweetness tickled his brain. "Thank you." the professor lovingly said, giving the cook a quick but passionate kiss before jumping up from his seat to run to his desk. That left Murdock a bit flabbergusted, wondering what the other man is up to. But he didn't had to wait long, because shortly after Friede already sat back right next to the chef. "Please close your eyes and open your hand" he instruced. Murdock had no idea what Friede was planning, but he just did as he was told and patiently waited. The professor then placed a small item on the cooks palm. It felt very light and soft. "Okay you can open your eyes now." the smaller man joyfully exclaimed.
It was a phone charm. An Applin to be exact. It looked quite wonky and the eyes were different in size. But that didn't take away from it's cuteness. This one was clearly handmade with love. "I secretly borrowed one of your needel-felting books, you always made it look so easy, so I thought I give it a try, but this stuff is really hard." Friede shyly expressed, playing nervously with his fingers. Suddenly a warm hand gently cupped his right cheek, tenderly pulling his head to the side until their eyes met. "It is as perfect as it can be." the cook said with such an affectionate voice, making the smaller man blush real hard. Friedes heart went crazy again, the urge to kiss this man a second time overcame him, but before he could make a move, his lips were already covered. Murdock also couldn't hold back this growing desire, after seeing Friede acting so timid, his body moved on it's own. The chefs heart felt like it gonna jump out of his chest any moment. Both men melted into the kiss, enjoying every second of it. How they wished this moment never gonna end, but unfortunatly they needed take in a breath. "Thank you." the chef said, smiling delightful, his eyes burning with love.
Friede now turned back to finish his breakfast, sipping at his coffe while closely observing as Murdock continued to examine the charm for a while, viewing it from all sides. The chef had a dorkish grin on his face before attaching the little Applin to his rotom phone, giggling in excitement. The professor was relieved that his sweetheart loved his gift, however he had the feeling the other man didn't get his message quite yet, so he needed to give him a little hint to make sure he does. The white-haird man took one more sip from his coffee, before putting the cup aside to get the chefs attention. "Murdock, you have a moment?" the smaller man asked a bit nervouse. "Hmm, what is it Friede?" the cook replied, looking at him with big eyes. "Well...the thing is..." Friede started, trying to put it as simple as possible. "About the Applin...I know it's not an real one, but the meaning is the same." the professor claryfied, sheepishly scratching his left cheek with his finger. A slight blush painted his face as he waited for Murdocks reaction. But the taller man was suspiciously quiet.
The smaller man started to get worried so he faced to the side, only to see the cook sitting their, silently staring on the Applin charm, his brain seemingly rattling. Friede found this view rather amusing and could literally tell the exact moment realisation hit, as the chefs face turned redder and redder. Murdock felt his face getting hotter, the heat making his ears ring. He knew about this folklore, but in between all the excitement this fact simply slipped through his mind. He didn't dare to look at Friede right now, he felt to embarrassed. "Maybe a quick glance won't hurt..." the cook told himself ,while slowly peeking to the side. Of course the other man was staring at him, smiling amusingly. That made Murdocks face get flushed even harder and he awkwardly tried to hide his face behind his arms. The professor couldn't help but giggle. He loved seeing the cook getting all flustered like that, especially when it's his fault. After a while Murdock grabbed Friedes hand, squeezing it gently. "I love that thought..." the cook shyly started, his voice was very delicate. "I m-mean being together forever." the chef swiftly added, beaming the softest smile at Friedes direction. The professor keenly returned the favour, putting on his softest smile as well. "That truly sounds wonderful". The day has just begun but the two already having a blast, holding every moment close to their hearts.
Note: Applin actually symbolizes affection and according to some folklore; if you give an Applin to someone you like, you confess your feelings and ensures a happy future together.

You know I headcanon that Friede and Murdock are childhood friends and this is how I think they met and ended up forming the RVTs:
Friede's parents were probably Professors themselves or at least had a very important position that forced them to constantly move from place to place for their researches. As their son they naturally wanted him to follow in their footsteps and Friede himself loved the traveling part a lot, but due to this he also had to change schools often. So because he knew that he won’t stay long at the same place he never opened up to others and hiding his true feelings (sounds familiar right? He still does that today…I mean always trying to keep cool, only showing his soft side when no one is looking. Except when around Murdock as shown in the show when they had a dad talk under 4 eyes)
When Friede was 8 years old his parents traveled with him to Alola and planned to stay for at least a year there this time. That was longer than normally. Right after arriving there Friede went to explore the island a little but was to reckless and fall from a tree due to an morsch Branch. He strained his ankle a little, it didn’t hurted that much, but he couldn’t help but start crying, maybe all his bottled up emotions from the past few weeks just broke free.
And that was the moment he met Murdock. The 11 year old boy heard him crying while searching for berries in the woods and softly asked him if he is okay. Friede immediately started to hide he was crying but failed. Murdock than pointed out that he never saw him so he figured he must be new here. He offered Friede to carry him home, but Friede without thinking shouted that he doesn’t want to go home. Murdock didnt know what to do and decided to just sit next to him and try to cheer him up by giving him one of the berries he found earlier. They ended up talking there for over an hour and at the end Friede accepted Murdocks offer from earlier and so he got carried by him piggyback style. After they said goodbye to each other Friede really hoped to see the other boy again.
He never felt like that. Murdock was the same. He was pretty shy so he also didn’t really had a friend yet. The next week after his ankle was healed Friede was starting to atend the school and there he met Murdock again and he was so happy. Murdock felt the same and in this moment they became best friends. They hanged out together as much as possible (Friede had to learn a lot extra at home because his parents still wanted him to become a professor and he hated it but studied hard either way because the faster he finished his daily tasks the more time he had to spend with Murdock) They started to go on little adventures, shared meals together that were made by Murdock. And Friede told him about his dream to travel around the whole world finding treasures and be free. They were literally inseparable.
Until the day he had to leave Alola, because his parents finished their research there. And that crushed his heart so much, he was used to leave to another location, but this t8me was different, because he has to leave the only friend he ever made behind. So he begged his parents to buy another phone, he already had one but this one was for Murdock so they could stay in contact at least. Friede promised Murdock that when he is old enough and finally can do what he wants that he comes back to his friend and pick him up to go on adventures together!
After their forceful separation Friede ended up studying in Paldea with Lucca as his teacher and also kinda spending some time under Roy’s grandpas wings at some point. Murdock also started to study abroad to become the best cook for Friede and his dream. Galar being one of those places where he actually met his future patissier colleague Mitchell who became his rival. Years later as a freshly baked professor Friede fulfilled his promise and picked up Murdock and together there real adventure finally started.

Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Main plot: Murdock, Friede, Rockruff Mentioned: Dot, Blanca
Ships: FriedexMurdock also called Capncrunchshipping or Airfryshipping
Summary:
Murdocks little sister and Dot's mother Blanca allowed Dot to stay at the ship and Murdock is glad about that, but he feels that he didn't do much for Dot yet, but Friede and Rockruff are their for him to cheer him up. (Includes kissing <3)
Murdock just finished cleaning up the kitchen, gently carrying a softly snoring Rockruff in his arms who kept him company while he was doing the dishes. Or to be more exact the little puppy tried to stay awake but adorably failed and fell asleep anyways. Of course Murdock told his puppy several time it's okay to go to bed without him, but Rockruff refused this offer so a small giggle left Murdocks mouth. When the chef arrived in his room he gently layed Rockruff down on his pillow to not wake it up and covered the now rolled up fluff ball with a blanket. He kissed the little puppy on it's head, earning a soft yawn as respond. The cook couldn't help but smile at this cute sight before letting himself fall down, now sitting down on the edge of his bed. No wonder his little angel is so fatigued. The chef would lie if he said today wasn't exhausting for him as well. He defintaly wasn't prepared for his sister Blanca to do a surprise visit. He loves his little sister with all his heart, but sometimes she can be a bit hard to deal with, especially when the subject is Dot. At the end everything went well and he felt relieved that mother and daughter finally could have a proper conversation, hopefully understanding each other now. But for some reason he still felt sad and frustrated. The cook tried to shook away those feelings, heaving out a deep sigh when someone suddenly knocked at his door. Murdock was caught so off guard that he wasn't able to respond immediatly. Friede who was standing outside knocked once again adding a "Hey it's me. I'm coming in." before opening the door and making his way inside. What awaits him was a slightly startled Murdock sitting on the bed, staring at him with wide eyes. "Hey Murdock!" the professor beamed a smile at his friend "I figured you are here! Do you mind if I come in?" Murdock blushed a little, swiftly looking away being slightly embarressed "P-please come in. Sorry for not responding right away I got lost in my thoughts...a lot happend to today ya know..." His face turned into a grimasse, awkwardly smiling at the other man, letting out a chuckle while scratching the back of his head. Friede could sense something was troubeling the cook so he decided to find out with a rather unique approach.
He walked closer to Murdock gently grabbing the chefs face to give him a short but soft kiss. He could tell that Murdock wasn't prepared for that, because the cook winced at this sudden action. After Friede broke the kiss he started to delicately open the buttons of Murdocks shirt "I think you need some distraction..." the white-haird man suggested tenderly while purposly getting as close to the other mans face as he could. Murdock on the other hand just closed his eyes not saying a single word in return, letting Friede continue, without becoming active himself. But that just gave Friede the confirmation he needed. Something clearly was bothering his friend to the point that not even seducing him can draw him away from his distressing thoughts so Friede stopped right there. Murdock who still had his eyes closed didn't even realized that the smaller man already pulled back and was now sitting right next to him instead.
"Okay what is it?" the white-haird man asked with a concered voice. "W-What do you mean?" Murdock abruptly replied still being confused. "I'm trying to seduce you here but I don't get any reaction from you, instead you seem spaced out." The professor explains eagerly hoping his friend would open up and tell him what pains him right now. What he didn't expected was that Murdock in lieu just panics, thinking he hurt Friedes feelings, by rejecting him. "I- I'm so sorry...I didn't meant to destroy the mood! I'm gonna be focused now I promise!" With that being said Murdock hastely tried to kiss Friede but was stopped by a hand delicately put on his mouth. "STOP! That's not what I came here for!" the professor shouted, realising his attempt of distracting his friend backfired. "I'm the one that has to apologize! I already could tell all day that something is bothering you, but I didn't wanted to pressure you and hoped you gonna tell me yourself when you feel like it..." Friede paused for a moment, to collect his words to get sure he doesn't say something to upset Murdock even more. "So I hoped I could at least distract you from your distressing thoughts, even if it's only for a short moment...I would never take advantage of you like that! I'm sorry!" Friede explained desperatly with a guilty sound in his voice, now looking at the cook who was just staring at him with his big brown eyes. Friede didn't grasped that he was still covering Murdocks mouth with his hand, until the chef gently grabbed said hand to slowly push it aside. "I-It's okay! Don't worry I know that...it's not that I don't want to...with you...you know..it's just I can't clear my head from those negative thoughts right now and that frustrates me because I know those thought are just silly and..." Murdock didin't noticed that his body started to shake a little and got stopped mid-sentence by a gentle squeeze on his left shoulder. That sudden touch startled him a bit and made him look at Friede out of reflex. His friend wore a soft and understanding smile, making Murdock feel less anxious right away.
The cook now began to fidget with his fingers and took in a deep breath before he broke the silence that had settled over the pair. "I don't know how to explain...I mean the thing is...I'm so happy that Dot and Blanca finally could have a heartfelt conversation. I truly am but..." The chef had to stop again, biting his lip to wipe away a tear and to steady his shaky voice. This didn't went unnoticed by Friede so the smaller man now took Murdocks left hand into his to encourage his best friend to continue. "I'm so thankful that you could animate Dot to come aboard the ship and that Liko and Roy were able to make her come out of her shell more. She finally found such precious friends so I'm sure she gonna be fine now matter what happens. When she talked to me for the first time face to face after months I was so happy. I know that wasn't even a real conversation but still..." Murdock had to pause once again, catching his breath and steadying his voice. Friede got more and more concerned with every new thought that Murdock shared with him, but he doesn't want to interrupt him fearing he might shy away before he hears the end of it. So as much as it pains the white-haird man to see Murdock like that he decides to just keep listening for the moment, sqeezing his friends hand tightly.
After the room was filled again with silence for a brief moment Murdock continue, voice still shaky. "I'm so overjoyed that Dot seems to start enjoy the world outside of her room, that she starts to find joy in eating...that's more I could ever ask for...but...but" he paused shortly to inhale deeply. "I can't stop feeling like I only keep annoying her..." Murdocks voice kept getting more and more unsteady with every sentence and he had trouble controlling his breath but kept going, squeezing Friedes hand back. "She almost blocked me once and I can tell that me worrying about her makes her feel uncomfortable. I understand that but I just can't help it! I can't just turn off those feelings. My sister trusted me to take care of her precious little girl, but I feel like the only thing I do is bothering her and..."
"THAT'S NOT TRUE!" Without thinking those words bursted out of Friedes mouth, letting his heart speak for him. "The only reason I was able to convince Dot to join the crew was because YOU asked me for help and trusted me to deal with your niece!" "But..." Murdock tried to protest, but got stopped by Friede shushing him "Please let me finsih talking first okay?" the smaller man insisted with a determined face. Murdock couldn't bring himself to argue against it any further so he nodded in aproveal, getting a soft smile in return. Inhaling deeply the professor proceeded with his speech. "You kept making sweets for Dot until you found something that she liked, you always appreciate her feelings, not pressuring her to do things she feels uncomfotable with. You are a worryward, that's just how you are and that's okay, all of us know that, no one blames you for being worried when she wanted to go shopping, you still let her go, even though you were a complete nervouse mess until she made it back safely!" Friede noticed that Murdock looked away in embarressment, avoiding eye contact, but he had to keep going. "Yes it was Liko who had thethe idea how to include Dot to the picnic, but she couldn't have done it on her own and asked for your help to do so right?" "Y-Yes but.." Murdock started to stutter but Friede didn't let him time to come up with an excuse. "YOU only focuse on what others have archieve and keep undervaluing YOUR own efforts. YOU are always there, making sure she has everything she needs while respecting her feelings. If YOU haven't trusted me with YOUR feelings and YOUR wish to help Dot she wouldn't even be on the ship now, wouldn't have found friends and wouldn't have started to have fun outside! YOU are supporting her with all you've got and give her a safe space she can feel comfortable in. She can always count on you and I'm sure she knows that!" Friede hesitated to go on the moment he saw tears started running down Murdock's face "Do..Do you really thinks so?" the cook asks in disbelieve, the words barley leaving his mouth. The professor instantly pulled his friend into a thight hug "Yes I do!" After hearing those words Murdock completely broke into tears, sobbing hard, burrying his face into Friedes shoulder, hugging him firmly while he felt his friend gently rubbing over his back to calm the big man down. It didn't took long until they got interupted by a concerened "Wuff?" Both pulled away from the hug to watch the little Puppy trying to get on Murdocks lap, eyes filled with a worried look. Murdock was still sobbing softly and was busy wiping away his tears so Friede took the lead. "Don't worry your Dad will be okay!" He tried to assure Rockruff while petting it's head, but the puppy still wasn't convinced and now stood up on Murdocks lap, frontpaws pressing against his Dads chest, letting out another concerned "Wruff?" The cook cleared his throat and finally was able to speak again, wiping away more tears before picking up his puppy, gently hugging it. "Sorry did we wake you up?" Rockruff promptly started licking the chefs tears away still being skeptical. "Don't worry I'm okay now I promise." Murdock added and luckily this finally was enough to reassured the little puppy and it started wiggling it's tail in excitement. The three sat there silently for a while when Murdock suddenly let out a heartful laugh, pulling Friede and Rockruff into a tight hug, uttering out a cheerful "Thank you!"

Wedding Proposal
Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Main plot: Friede, Murdock / Side plot: Orla, Mollie
Ships: FriedexMurdock also called Capncrunchshipping
Summary:
The Brave Asagi was docking on a small island, due to the crew having to refill their proviant. A normal and ordinary day you could say. At least for everyone else. Because for a certain chef this day had the potential to become special. A good or a bad one? That depends on the reaction of a certain white haired man.
Murdock was standing in the kitchen nervously looking around to check if he really is alone, staring at the door for a while until he convinced himslef that the coast is clear. The big man proceeds to pull something out of his pocket and started to fidgeting the round object within his hands. Shimmering in a bright red and white color. It was a Pokeball, but not a normal one. This one could change his life forever. For the better or the worse? That's something he has no control over and that made him even more anxious. „Come on!! Pull yourself together“ he thought to himself while heaving out a big sigh. The brown haired man opend the Ball and in there was a ring. A combination of silver and gold fusing together.
How many times had hepracticed the probably most important question of his entire life already? He couldn't tell, but what he certainly knew was the fact that all those rehearsal sessions didn't took away his nervousness. The fear of making a mistake, just a small unpleasent misstep that could ruining the whole moment constantly lingering in his mind. What if Friede isn't ready yet? Or even worse...what if he says no...what if he actually doesn't love him that much to actually wanna marry him? Murdock started to sweat and tremble a little, heart beating fast and unsteady.
The chef didn't realized how deep he got lost in his thoughts until a famiiar voice popped up right behind him. „Hey Murdock what are you doing?“ Friede suddenly stood right behind him with a geniune soft smile. The brown haired man almost started to panic, cursing himself for not hearing the other man coming in and in an attempt to act natural he turned around quickly while hiding the Pokeball behind his back holding onto it like a Komala clinging on its log. „H..H..Hey Friede! Wh..What are you doing here?“ he stuttered praying to Arceus that Friede didn't see anything! The white haired man immediatly lifted one of his brows in confusion „I could ask you the same question. What on earth are you doing?“ while trying to peek behind Murdocks back „N...Nothing!“ he said fastly turning around to put the Ball back into his pocket. He heard a unsatisfied grunt followed by absolute silence. The time was ticking and Murdock couldn't bear this tension for long anyways so he had to act now „Do you...ehm...I mean... care to join me for a walk?“ The cook nervously tapping his index finger together several times. Friede was still a little confused why his lover was acting so strange lately and especially today, but he actually came here because he hoped Murdock would be able to kill his boredom so a walk together souned like a nice idea „Sure! I would love too“ he replied smiling. Murdock instantly felt relieved and beamed a happy smile towards Friede „Alright then let's go“
The two man got ready to leave the ship and walked into Orla on their way out. She was maintenance the keel of the Brave Asagi and just finsihed her work for today. „Hey you lovebirds care to tell me where you are going?“ she playfully asked with a mischievous grin. „WE ARE JUST GOING FOR A WALK!!“ both of them shooted out simultaniously like they had to justify themselves, looking at each other in surprise, their cheeks shining in a soft pink. „Ooooohhhhh a walk you say?“ she sarcastically added not believing a single word. „Yes just a walk any problem with that?“ Friede countered with a light blush on his face, because he knew Orla just tried to tease them. The woman just looked at the two men in disbelieve. Especially Murdock was awfully quiet avoiding eye contact. But right this moment the Brunette got a wonderful idea and couldn't help but let out a small giggle. “Well then have a nice time and enjoy the sunset together“ and waved her goodbye to them returning to the ship. When she was out of sight she took out her phone to make a call „Oi Mollie I need your help“ Orla said with a scheeming face.
Murdock and Friede just looked at each other for a while slightly confused what that all was about. „Come on let's go shall we?“ Friede said and already started to slowly walk towards the beach, when he realized Murdock wasn't following him. „Do you want to put down roots there?” He jokingly shouted waving at the other man. Murdock not realizing that he got lost in his thoughts again got snapped back to reality “So...Sorry! I..I'm coming!” he nervoulsy shouted back before running to the other man to catch up. A normal walk? He sure hopes that's not the case.
Only a few minutes have passed until they finally arrived at the beach. They both haven't said a single word since, silently walking next to each other in a comfortable pace. Suddenly Friede spotted something and started to sprint towards a small stone wall jumping onto it with one big leap. Carfeully balancing his weight, with his arms spread out he walked across the slim wall. „Don't hurt yourself when you fall down“ Murdock said with a sassy undertone. „Nah I'm good“ Friede confidentally countered. „Says the most reckless person I know“ the cook couldn't hold back a laugh. „Laugh as much as you want, but I know you gonna catch me if I fall“ Murdocks laugh got cut off within a second, his face promptly turning red. Of course he would catch him. Friede seemingly happy about the reaction he got out of the chef now started to walk a bit faster and even spun around in a circle just to impress his boyfriend „See I'm just fi...“ in that moment he stepped on a unsteady part which led to a small stone breaking away under his feet, loosing his footing he tried to keep his balance but failed. „WATCH OUT!!“ Murdock yelled and without hesitating immadiatly reach out to catch the reckless idiot. But the ground was slippery so even though he DID catch the other man he slipped himslef right after and hit the ground himself.
Everything went so fast that Friede needed a moment to process what just happened. It took him a while to realize that he landed soft on his stomach and actually was laying on something soft. The something soft turned out to be Murdocks chest. Now it was Friedes face that chaned into a bright red shade, but he tried to overplay his embarrassement and keep it cool. „See? You catched me“ he cheekly stated while grinning widly at the other man, placing both hands on his hip in a triumphant pose, still sitting on Murdocks stomach. One brown eye now staring at him half open. „Don't tell me you fell down on purpose“ he responded rubbing the back of his head to ease the pain he tried to sit up all unfased, when in reality he was about to freak out and just has to get Friede off from him as fast as he could. „I would never do that“ the smaller man tried to sound offended. The cook then gently grabbed him at his hip to lift him to the side. Friede now sitting on the cold ground couldn't decide if he was happy or not that Murdock pushed him away so fast, but it probably was for the best. They went here for a normal walk after all. He eventually proceeded to stand up, brushing the dirt off his pants. Back on his feet he now offered his hand to help Murdock who accepted with a „Thank you“ and reached out for the helping hand.
After that they just kept walking along the beach enjoying the fresh breeze and the chef suddently had to remember the faithful day they first met. The day his life was turned upside down so he needed to know „Do you believe in Love at first sight?“ He felt his heart skip a beat after asking this question out loud eagerly waiting for a respond...but he didn't got any...did Friede not hear him? Or is he ignoring him in purpose? He felt his blood pressure rising with every second passing and had to muster all his courage to check what the other man is doing.
Friede actually just stared at Murdock for some time before he started to pose, pointing at his own face „I mean how could you not fall in love with this beautiful face?“ the man stated with a big confident grin. Honestly the chef couldn't denie this statement, but that wasn't the point here! Murdock couldn't help but to let out a annoyed soft „Idiot...“ turing his head in the opposite direction so Friede wouldn't see him pouting, questioning himself how he could fall head over heels for this moron!? He loved Friede with all his heart, but sometimes he just wanted to punch him.
Friede still had this big grin on his face, but it got washed away promptly when he noticed that Murdock is facing away from him. Nice...that's a way to destroy the mood.. The smaller man scolded himself. Of course he believed in that, because he experienced it first hand. But the question took him so off-guard that his coping mechanism took over. He didn't knew how to anwer this question at first but his heart told him.
Murdock stopped pouting at this point...but he felt like crying...that wasn't even THE question and he already thought he fucked up big time so he asked himself if he should call it a day and label todays attempt as a failure...but before he could speak it out loud a warm and comfortable touch distracted him. Friede was now holding his left hand very gently, squeezing it slightly. His heart started to beat faster and hope came back to him when he was met with the warmest smile. Friedes yellow eyes shining brightly, almost burning with how full of love they were.
„You made me believe it“ the white haired man said those words with such a soft and sweet voice while holding eye contact. Now it was Murdock that was left speechless, his heart racing faster and faster. There it was again this feeling!! A swarm of butterfrees in his stomach going wild, about to break out! After taking a deep breath without breaking eye contact he finally was able to speak „I'm so glad I did“ the cooks voice was filled with pure joy and love. His cheeks shining is a beautiful pink and his brown eyes glittering, because of the tears he tries to hold back. Friedes heart was beating like crazy, it felt like it's gonna bust out his chest any moment. HOW IS THIS MAN ALWAYS MANAGING TO MAKE HIM FEEL THIS WAY!?? He asked himself not being able to look away from this beautiful view right before his eyes. And before he could continue thinking his desire took over and he leaned forward to catch those lips and was surprised when the other man followed his lead. Still holding hands both of them melted into the kiss, their hearts fluttering hoping this moment would never end.
„I knew it was a good idea to follow them!!“ Orla let out proud, looking at the photo she just made. „Keep quiet or they gonna hear us“ Mollie whispered. The two woman were hiding in some bushes „Tehehe sorry I got to fired up“ she apolgized while hitting her head playfully with her fist while sticking out her tongue. „But I knew something was fishy!“ Mollie let out a long sigh „I only tagged along because you begged me“ „Come on your curious as well“ Orla cheekily stated while gently knocking her elbow against Mollies arm. „Or didn't you find it odd how Murdock did act today?“ she ask the nurse „Right he really acted different today. He was jumpy and lost in his thought all day“ The pink haired woman muttered thinking about a reason for his behaviour. „Bingo!! And the dessert he made today were extra breathtaking don't you think?“ Mollie just nodded in agreement „But why all of that?“ A big grin formed on the brunetts face „L.O.V.E~~~!“ she spelled out. „What if he finally propose to Friede?“ Orlas eyes lit up. She knows how much Friede loves Murdock and as his childhood friend she don't wanna miss this sweet moment. „Don't you think they would be happy to have this speical moment banned on camera?“ the mechanic ask with a twinkling eye. Mollie finally was convinced and smiled „I bet they will freak out first when they realize that they have been watched“ she laughed slightly thinking about that. „They started moving again!“ Orla suddenly shooted a bit louder then she intended. „Okay lets keep following them“ Mollie herself was now fired up as well and so the two woman stealthy continued with their plan.
Back to Friede and Murdock:
Due to the need of getting in some oxygen the two man had to part their lips, slightly whining about the sudden loss of warmth they now looked deeply at each other, their eyes filled with desire and passion. Totally consumed by the heat of the moment they were about to go for a second round when they suddenly got startled by a loudly rustling bush. Out of reflex they looked into the direction the unknown sound came from. „Probably just a wild Pokemon“ Friede stated with a nervouse laugh „Y..Yeah“ The cook answered with a slightly trembeling voice. Noticing the other mans uneasyness/discomfort Friede gently pressed Murdocks hand while softly smiling at him. „Let's continue our walk shall we?“ and a smile was forming on the cooks face „Yeah I would love that“
Murdock loved the constant touch of Friedes hand around his. It felt so comfortable, soft and also save. That's right he trusted him with his life and knew the other man felt the same. Minutes passed and the chef enjoyed this pleasent feeling with all his heart BUT he was on a mission today. The proposal he had planned for weeks is within reach. Not long until the sunset paints the sky in a beautiful red. That will be THE moment! The only problem: He needs both of his hands and even though he doesn't want to let go of Friedes hand, he needs to. But that might make Friede suspicious. Murdock starts to get nervouse again not knowing what to do when all of a sudden Friede actually let go of his hand and running excited towards the water „Look Murdock!“ The man pointed at the slowly red turning Horizon. His eyes sparkeling even brighter than the sun itslef.
This was the moment of truth. All the practice and preperations were for this exact moment. He swollowed hard, his heart racing at top speed. Trying to calm down his nerves he takes in a deep breath. Everything around him seemed to slow down, his head became clear and when Friedes attention traveled back to admire the beautiful sunset that was his signal. He sprinted to the other mans side, biting his lip in anticipation, his eyes burning with determination. On last time he inhaled deeply before falling on his left knee pulling out the special Pokeball and finally asking the question he died to ask for so long „Friede“ He resolutely started to get the attention of the love of his life and it worked. Friede turned around and what he saw was something he didn't expect at all. His eyes widened as he looked at Murdock opening what looked like a Pokeball, revealing a ring. „Am I allowed to catch you?“ Murdock finally asked.
Friedes POV:
Friede stood there, speechless, not being able to move a muscle, totally taken aback. Is this really happening right now?! It fells like a dream come true. Murdock, the man he wants to spent the rest of his life with just ask him to marry him?! He had to gasp for air, because he didn't realized that he stopped breathing for a few seconds. Tears started running down his face. He tried to blink them away, but to no avail as he already was bawling his eyes out at this point. He felt so happy and blessed. Did he even deserve this?! Doubts started to fill his head...Is he really good enough for him? Can he make him happy? He looked at Murdocks face...he looked worried...and on the verge of crying. YOU IDIOT!! He wouldn't have asked you if he doesn't mean it!! JUST SAY YES YOU COWARD!! Friede finally tried to speak...but no words came out...only a broken sobbing and he started to panic.
Murdocks POV:
Okay there it is! He finally asked the question! Now he only had to wait for Friedes answer. Easier said then done...he was an emotinal mess. His heart beat so fast, making him lightheaded. He felt like he could pass out any moment. Every second of silence passing felt like a eternity. Never had he felt so stressed in his life. WHY ISN'T HE SAYING ANYTHING!?! Then Friede started to cry and he felt his heart dropping to his stomach...No..No..NO NO NO NO NO NO!! Why is he crying!?? What did he do wrong!?? He felt his biggest fear coming true...he wanted to cry himself, but for some reason he couldn't...He didn't know what to do...normally he would just pull the other man into his embrace to calm him down...but what if Friede didn't want this right now...what if he is upset...What if..........he doesn't love him that much to marry him...The cook almost started to hyperventilate and was about to accept Friedes reaction as a rejection...looking away in defeat. But his eyes instantly snapped back when he heard a broken sobbing coming out of the other man. Was he trying to speak? What did he try to tell him!?? Could it be that...In this moment hope flowed back into his body and his eyes lit up again. He started to tremble, his breath unsteady he had to swallow harshly before he could speak. Pushing away all his doubts and worries he finally mustered all his courage „I...Is that a yes!?“ he ask cautiously. Friede wasted no time and desperately tried to speak, but he still was to overwhelmed so insted he nodded his head vigorously as confirmation.
Murdock felt like a big weight fell down his shoulder, all the tension and anxiety, his fears and worries, all of that got washed away in an instant. What remaind was the pure feeling of happiness that rushed through his body. Completely overwhelmed by his emotions he pulled Friede into a tight embrance and couldn't hold back his tears. „I...I was so scared you would say no...I'm so glad...“ the cook sobbing heavily while pressing his face on Friedes shoulder. „YES!!!“ Friede finally screamed out of the top of his lung after his voice finally returned to him „OF COURSE I WANNA MARRY YOU!!“ the smaller man tightly hugged him back. „You are my everything...I love you!“ he said with a soft voice. Murdock sobbed continuously, not believing how blessed he was „I love you too...I love you so much“ Both men didn't want to let go and lay in eauch other's arms treasured this special moment to the fullest. They will never forget this unique sunset.
„FINALLY!!“ Orla yelled out loud, totally forgetting that they were hiding. This startled the shit out of Friede and Murdock „O...ORLA!!?? IS THAT YOU!?“ the white haired man asked absolutely embarressed, blushing like crazy. After Mollie shortly glared at her for blowing their cover they revealed themselves and jumped out of the bush „Congratiolations for finding a new Horizon together“ Orla happily wished. Realizing they have been watched, their faces were now glowing red. „Sorry I couldn't resist to film your Proposal“ she admitted, waving her phone around. „Wait...WHAT!!??“ the two men yelled fully bamboozled, sweating like crazy. The two woman just laughed at the hilrious sight. They surley will never forget this fateful day.

Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Main plot: Friede, Murdock, Liko and Roy appeare fairly often too Minor part: Orla, Mollie, Captain Pikachu, Rockruff, Dot
Ships: FriedexMurdock also called Capncrunchshipping or Murfrieshipping
Summary:
Friede keeps sleeping in the captains chair instead of his bed and Murdock doesn't like that unhealthy behaviour and tries to convince him to take better care of himself, even if that means he has to give him the "Professor" treatment (I headcanon that when Murdock is mad at Friede he doesn't call him by his name and instead calls him Professor so the other man will immadiatly know that he fucked up)
---------------------------
Can't you see that I'm caring about you?
It's past midnight and today it's Murdocks turn for the night shift, so he wanders around the Brave Asagi to check on everyone. The kids were all sleeping safe and sound. Liko always slept on her side, sometimes hugging Sprigatito. She was breathing so softly that you could barley hear her. Roy on the other hand was more of a lively sleeper. The boy never layed in his bed the same way and Murdock always got amused to see which pose he would find him in, before gently laying him down in a more comfortable pose, tucking him under his sheets. Dot mostly layed on her back, arms over her head, softly snoring. She had a very deep sleep so it was easy for Murdock to pick up some empty bottles and snack bag, before leaving the room.
The next stop was the Captain's deck and he really hoped that he would NOT find a certain man in here today...but he was proven wrong. Friede was sitting In the captains chair or more laying half on his side. That pose couldn't possible be comfortable in any way ore means. The white haird man was sitting mostly straight, but his upper body leaning widly on the left side while trying to support his head with his arm, his left shoulder pressing against the hard wood. Normally Murdock would just pick him up and carry this unreasonable fool to his room and laying him in his bed, but not this time. Today is different. He is dissapointed...Friede did promise him earlier this day that he will sleep properly in his own bed tonight, but he cleary didn't hold to his promise...so he just let him be like that and left the room, but not before he put a blanket over this stupid idiot. He may be mad but he still cares and don't wanna risk that his best friend gets sick.
The next morning Friede was woken up by the rising sun. He needed to blink his eyes open several times before they could adjust to the blending light. With a deep and long yawn he tried to sit up and was immadiatly met with a stinging pain in his neck „Maybe sleeping here wasn't the best idea“ he admitted while trying to massage his neck. Then the yellow eyed man noticed the blanket he was wrapped in and was slightly confused „I can't remember getting this...“ but before he could think more about this his nose got distracted by the pleasant smell of freshly backed bread. „Hmmm...I wonder what Murdock made for breackfast“ he said ans with a soft smile he exited the room, still trying to strech his body.
Soon he entered the kitchen to see what Murdock was up to „Good morning“ he said with a big smile. The brown hairded man was in the middle of preparing said breakfast and answered him with a cheerful „Good morning did you sleep well?“ and a big smile on his face. Friede instantly grabbed his neck turning his head carefully and alternately to the left and right, making his eyes winch in pain a little while letting out a small groan „My neck is a bit sore“ „I wonder why...“ the chef promptly hissed out with a sarcastic undertone, barley loud enough for Friede to notice that Murdock said something but not being able to understand what exactly so he asked out of concern while lifting one of his brows „Did you say something?“ But Murdock just shakes his head „I was just talking to myself. The breakfast is almost ready so please get the kids“ he said with a smiling face before he continued to focus on the task before him. Friede just nodded and then left the kitchen to look if the kids are already awake. The cook let out a defeated sight as soon as his friend left the kitchen. „That idiot doesn't seem to remember a thing...I just care about you...you stupid“ he mumbled with a rather hurt but soft voice before he finished preparing breakfast. 15 minutes later everyone was sitting at the dining table. As usual Murdock served a tasty meal and everyone stuffed their faces, enjoying every bite. Murdock couldn't help but smile at this sight. But it didn't took long until he got interupted by Roy who almost choked on his last bite, because he ate to hastely.
Friede ate fairly much himself and felt full to the brim „Phewwww that was delicious as always Murdock. I'm so full I definately won't be able to move for a while“ he compliments the chefs food. Murdock just had the biggest smile on his face after hearing that „Thank you I'm happy your enjoyed your breakfast Pro..fes...sor!“ Murdock said the last word with such a joyful but yet terrifying voice that it made Friedes whole body shiver „Oh no...he is upset...“ he thought, cold sweat starting to run down his face while going through every interaction he had with the other man yesterday to find a possible clue of the sudden dissapointment towards him. „What was it!? Did I say anything wrong!? Did I accidentally break something? Did he forgot something important!? But if he forgot it how could he possible remember it now?“ Arrghhhh Friede growls while tearing at his hair „I do so many stupid and clumsy stuff how can he expect me to know what exactly made him mad?“ he thought. Molly and Orla immadiatly sensed the change of athmosphere between the two men. It wasn't the first time they witnessed Murdock getting mad with Friede, so they were sure they will figure things out themselves. After collecting all the dirty tableware Murdock left the room heading back to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Liko and Roy got slightly concerened because Friede was sitting their for several minutes without moving a muscle. „A..Are you okay Friede?“ a nervouse Liko softly asked him. But the man didn't respond so Roy tried with his energiy voice this time „ARE YOU OKAY FRIEDE!?“ the small boy neary gave him a heartattack. „I'm...I'm fine!!“ He promptly answered while having one hand on his chest feeling his heart almost coming out „I just got lost in thoughts that's all“ he tried to convince the kids while trying to put on a smile but it looked more like a grimace. „Are you sure?“ Liko worried asked him again. „I'm okay I promise so don't worry okay?“ he said while patting her head with a hopefully normal smile on his face this time before leaving the room with a „I need to check something so see ya later“
Friede spent his whole day trying to find out with what action he upsetted Murdock. He didn't relaized how fast the time flew by when he decided to take a break from thinking. In fact it's already dinner time so everyone was gathering at the dining table. Friede also sat down on his seat and still had no clue. His head slightly hurted from overthinking and he tried to hide it but Murdock did notice. The cook exactly knew why his friend had a headeach so he didn't need to sugar coat him. He is still mad with Friede after all. So yet again the chef put up his brightest smile „Does the Professor have trouble remembering something important?“ That took Friede a little off-guard and he almost choked on his food. He hated that Murdock could read his face so easily. „A well...I guess so“ He said a little awkward while scratching the back of his head „I see...“ The cook almost lost his facade for a moment so he took a short pause before continuing „If you don't remember it probably wasn't that important to YOU so don't sweat it okay?“ Murdock tried really hard to sound happy but Friede catched the sad undertone in his voice and felt even more guilty now. He couldn't bring himself to say anything after that and just silently watched his friend leaving the room.
That whole situation didn't went unnoticed to the rest of the crew. And Friede already sensed judging eyes towards him so he just felt like running away himself „Sorry I ehm I think I should go and check if we still are on the right course so...“ the white haired man hastely stood up, almost falling from his seat and left the room without looking anyone in the face. Liko and Roy just looked at each other confused not knowing what to do. „I think Murdock would be happy if you two could help him with the dishes“ Orla said with a smile on her face to distract them. The two kids just nooded and started to collect all the dirty tableware to bring them to Murdock.
The cook stood in the kitchen, tears running down his cheeks. He just had to leave or else he would have burted into tears in front of everyone „I expected him to not remember but still...my heart feels betrayed...I thought my feelings had reached him...“ the brown haired man pressed his fingers against his closed eyes to stop the tears. He took a few deep breathes to calm himself down. He doesn't want anyone to see him like this. But in this moment someone knocked on the door and he started to panic a little „Murdock are you in there?“ Roy asked with a cheerful but hesitant voice. Murdock was a little relieved that it wasn't Friede and heaved out a deep sigh. He promptly wished the last bit of tears away with his right arm and had to clear his voice before he was able to answer. „Yeah please come in“ the two kids then opened the door, hands full of tableware. „We brought all the dirty dishes. Is it okay if we help you cleaning up?“ Liko shyly asked with a soft smile and Murdock was deeply touched „Of course! You two are a great help. Thank you!“ the cook cheerfully said and the two kids happily staretd to bring everything to the sink so Murdock could wash the dishes while Liko and Roy dried everything with a towel.
At the same time Friede was running outside to get some fresh air. He just busted out the door and leaned on the railing. He was out of air and needed to catch his breath. After a while he lifted his head and looked at the sunset. „Right it's my turn on the night shift...“ he whispered to himself. He kept silently watching the sun slowly going down, still thinking about what he can't seem to remember...but to no avail...he just can't remember and he hated himself for it. It was already dark when he finally decided to go in hoping that everyone else already went into their bedrooms setteling down for the night. He opened the door and cautious peak inside. To his delight no one seemed to be here, so without detour he went to the Captains deck grabbing the steering wheel.
Thinking all day about why Murdock was mad at him mentally have worn him out completely. „WHAT DID I DO WRONG?“ He couldn't shake off this question and it started to drive him crazy that he wasn't able to grasp the reason for the chefs dissapointment. Especially after the last conversation „He could just tell me what upsets him though“ It was almost midnight when Friede decided to sit on the captains chair for a while and he literally let himself fall exhausted into the seat. His sore neck immadiatly tried to protest when he leaned against the back of the chair. „I probaly should sleep in my bed today“ he paused for a moment and then just repeated part of the sentence with a questioning voice „...sleep in my bed......in my bed....SLEEP IN MY BED!!! THAT'S IT!!!“ he couldn't help but almost jump out of the chair in the process, just to get his joy of finally knowing why Murdock is mad at him promplty replaced by the realisation that he indeed fucked up and that the other man had the full right to be upset. „So the blanket last night really was from Murdock...he saw me sleeping here after I promised him I would sleep comfortably in my bed...and him directly asking how my night was...and if I struggle to remember something important...“ the man closed his eyes and let out a deep sigh. Everything made sense now...and he rememberd everything.
The day before:
Friede was keeping Murdock company in the kitchen while the chef was preparing everything for lunch. He sat on the small stool in the corner watching every move of his friend. He made it look so easy, every hand movement is perfectly coordinated. „I could never cut stuff while looking away“ he said after wittnessing Murdock cutting onios without even looking because the man was busy reading a recipe at the same time. The chef actually wanted to test a new dish he recently found or more searched especially for it. Liko is not a picky eater and eats everything the cook makes and he appreciated it but he really wanted to create some comfort food for the shy girl, after everything she went through. „It's not that spectacular. Its only a matter of trainng. I'm doing this for years ya know?“ The humble man said with a smile. „Don't play down your hard work. If it would be so easy everyone of us would be able to cook like you, but that's not the case. I'm complimenting you here ya know?“ Friede protested with a up brow. „Sorry, sorry!“ Murdock answered with a playful voice.
Friede then layed back and coulnd't hold back a small groan, cursing his hurtinh neck. That didn't went unnoticed by Murdock „You slept in the Captains chair again didn't you?“ the cook asked being annoyed by the unhealthy behavior his friend couldn't seem to stop with. But Friede was avoiding eye contact and didn't answer his question. „So I'm right...how many times did I already tell you that it's unhealthy to go one like this?“ Friede just went even more silent looking on the floor now „When was the last time you slept in a bed?“ Murdock asked with a slightly angry but concerned voice, staring at Friede in hope he gets an answer this time.
„You know...last time when we...when we slept in your room together and...“ „THAT WAS LAST WEEK!???“ the big man hissed at his friend „You are telling me you haven't slept in your bed for over a week!?“ Murdock has to admit that his voice came out louder then he wanted to, resulting in starteling the smaller man a bit. But he was shocked after what he just heard. „Ye...Yeah but it's not that big of a deal. Sleep is sleep! Doesn't matter how I get it“ Friede tried to defend himself. „It DOES matter where you sleep!“ Murdock started to scold the him „Your neck hurting is the best example that sleeping in a chair is unhealthy!“ „It always goes away after some time“ Friede tried to defend himslef, not understanding what Murdock is so worried about. The cook went silent for a while after that before he started talking again „Sorry for screaming at you, but can you promise me that you gonna sleep properly in your bed? At least for today?“ he said with a caring voice while looking at him with pleading eyes. Friede wanted to protest but it seemed important to his friend so he promised him to do so.
Back to the present:
Murdock layed in his bed unable to rest. His Rockruff cuddeling right against his chest. He gently petted the little puppy that was already snoring soundly. He couldn't help himself but to smile at this cute sight. But the smile was washed away from his face as soon as he fell back into deep thoughts. „Should he have just told Friede why he is mad?“ He started to play with one of Rockruffs paws, softly pressing it's toe beans. It wasn't the first time that Friede forgot something so he should be used to this, but for some reason he feels really hurt this time, almost betrayed „I just care about him...why can't he understand that I'm just worried? Are my feelings worth nothing?“ The cook asked frustrated while looking at his Rockruff, expecting an answer, but of course the only respond he got was a big yawn. Murdock had to giggle „Of course you don't have an answer on that“ while watching his little fellow getting even more comfortable „Maybe I should talk to Friede tommorrow...“ The cook then turned out the lights and kissed the little puppy on his head before trying to catch some sleep himself, tightly but gently hugging his partner.
The next morning:
Murdock always wakes up earlier then the others so he can prepare breakfast for everyone. Always trying to be as silent as possible. But before he could concentrate on cooking he needed to check something. That something included a certain someone he hoped he could talk to and clear things up. So of course he went to the Captains deck first, because he was sure to find the man here. But to his surprise he only got greated by Cap „Pika...chuuu“ The Pokemon said while doing his icnonic arm crossing pose. „Oh Good Morning Cap you seem in good spirit today“ Murdock replied with a smile. „Hope you are hungry, because I'm gonna make plently for breakfast“ the cook said getting out an excited „Chuuu“ of the Cap. Murdock walked out of the room but instead of going straight back to the kitchen he had to see with his own two eyes. So he now stood before Friedes room slowly opening the door and there he was. Laying on his stomach, arms and legs streched out. Murdock was so relieved to find him sleeping in his own bed „I wonder if you did remembered?“ he softly whispered to himself to not wake up his friend while gently tucking Friede under his sheets. Before closing the door he once more looked back at the peaceful sleeping silhouette and just could smile at this sight.
As expected Friede didn't appeard for breakfast, that wasn't unusual when his friend was in charge of doing the night shift. So Murdock went to bring Friede his share like always when this was the case. He knocked on the other mans door and was about to open it after he didn't get a response to check if he still is sleeping. But to his surprise someone suddenly grabbed his arm and pulled him into the room. Murdock just tried to balance himself and the tablet with the food while he heard the door closing behind him. Friede was standing there leaning on the door with his back. „G..Good morning Friede!“ the bigger man stuttered out, still a little confused what just happend. But Friede couldn't bring himslef to look Murdock into his eye, not yet. Murdock put the tablet on the little night stand to get it out of the way „Are you alright?“ The brown haired man didn't sounded mad anymore he just was worried „I'm sorry...“ Friede still looking on the floor „I'm sorry I stepped on your feelings and broke my promise...I'm really sorry I'm...“ In that moment Friede took all his courage to lift his head and face his friend properly. But before he could say anything else he felt two strong arms around him taking him into a tight hug „I'm so glad you did remember and took care of yourself“ The cook let out with a trembeling voice followed by softly sobbing. Friede couldn't hold back his own tears at this point and hugged his friend back „Thank you....thank you for always caring about me!“ the words just gushed out of the white haired man with a quivering voice.
A few minutes passed and Friede almost started to whine when loosing the warmth of Murdocks body, because his friend pulled back from the hug. But soon enough he knew why when he felt two big hands gently cupping his face in between. „You know I love you and would do anything for you“ Murdock said with still teary eyes and such an beautiful and angelic voice that Friede wasn't able to hold himself back and pulled the other man into a passionate kiss. He wished this moment would last forever but they got interrupted by his grwoling stomach. Friede was a little embarressed and his already pink cheeks became more redder in an instant. Murdock let out a heartful laugh „Seems like someone is hungry“ he teased „ I guess I could really use something to eat right now“ he answered a little flustered. „Then sit down and eat your breakfast“ the cook said while pointing on the night stand were he put the tablet filled with food earlier. Friede didn't waste time, jumped on his bed and happily started to stuff his face. Murdock just sat right next to him watching his friend enyoing his food, softly smiling.

Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Main plot: Friede, Murdock, Orla appears fairly often too Minor part: Ludlow, Liko, Roy, Mollie Mentioned: Dot
Ships: FriedexMurdock also called Capncrunchshipping or Airfryshipping
Summary:
How did Friede and Murdock met and how did the cook end up joining the RVTs? Liko was asking herself the same questions and so she confronted those two when they all had a little snack break together. I also emphasized them slowly falling in love with each other through out the story to have a smooth transition to the weeding proposal fanfic I already wrote. But they didn't fully grasped that feeling yet <3
It was a beautiful, sunny day and the Brave Asagi flew smoothly through the sky. A few days ago the ship was docking near the Wild Area of Galar where the Rising Volt Tacklers had enjoyed some delicious curry together made in a group effort by Liko, Roy and Dot. Murdock was busy in the kitchen preparing some snacks for everyone, deeply lost in thoughts. He let the events from their little trip to the wild area unfold once again in his mind. It made his heart sing, not only was it the first ever curry his niece had, but also the first time she actually joined them eating a meal together, after what felt like a eternity...he honestly can't even remember when the last time actually was. While musing about all this he felt a sudden saddness growing inside...he was so thankful that Dot found two precious friends with Liko and Roy, especially Liko managed to understand his little sister's precious girl he is looking after, slightly questioning himself wondering what he might lack to understand his nieces true feelings like Liko had succeeded in doing. "I probably just annoy her most of the time...no wonder...I keep pestering her with my silly questions...adults sure are bothering huh?" after letting out a deep sigh he continued his task.
"Talking to yourself?" Murdock was torn out of his thoughts but wasn't startled. He peeked into the direction of the familiar voice to find Friede leaning against the doorframe with a snippish grin. "And you seem to have forgotten how to properly knock at the door before coming in." the cook teasingly replied to him with a playful voice. "What are you talking about? I did knock! Where you daydreaming or something?" the professor let out a small chuckle when he saw Murdocks face turning into a grimace. "Huh?! You did?" Silence briefly draped over the pair for a moment. But before Friede could say anything in return, a plate with freshly made cookies were shoved into his hands "How about helping me out if you are already here?" rather baffled Friede was almost taken in by the pleasant smell. "Hey don't change the subject!" Friede exclaimed. "I don't know what you mean." Murdock contered delightful while taking off his apron, hanging it back on the hook. The cook then took a plate himself with different lemonade flavors he mixed from the fresh berries they collected in the Wild area before they left. "I can't wait to see everyones happy face. Let's Go Friede!" his voice brimming with excitment. But he didn't get a response. "Oi Friede are you listening?" the chef asked concerned, raising an eyebrow. Still no answer. "Who is daydreaming now?" the cook now teasingly asked, finally snapping the other man out of his thoughts. Friede started to blush. Murdock was way to close to his face. He felt even more embaressed after realising that he kept staring at the cook so he quickly averted his gaze. "S...Shut up it's not my fault that you are...(so hot)" he could barley stop himself from actually saying the last part out loud "I am what?" Murdock asked visually confused. "L...Let's go I bet the others are already waiting" the professor stuttered, turning around hastely to leave the kitchen. "WAIT!! Tell me!! I wanna know!" Murdock cried out but Friede just upped the pace, so the cook had no choice but to follow him.
Shortly after everyone was sitting outside on the battlefield enjoying the cookies and lemonade. It filled Murdocks heart with joy to wittness how everyone seemed to have a good time. When Friede went to get seconds Murdock took the chance and snagged them away right under his nose. "You can have more when you tell me what you meant earlier" sounding mildly exasperated. Friede wanted to be mad at him but he looked way to cute when he was pouty, so he kinda gave in. "I can't tell you... not here" he nervously replied "Why?" The cook was visually jumbled, noticing the slight blush on his lovers face he finally understood, turning his own cheeks into a slight pink as well. To their surprise everyone were now staring at them and no one dared to break the silence until Likos shyly voiced her inquiry. "Ehm...I hope it's okay to ask this question, but how did you two met?"
"You wanna know how we met?" Murdock repeated surprised. Liko now started to fidged with her fingers "Yes...Well...uhm...you two seem to be so close so I was just wondering how long you two know each other...y..you don't have to tell me" the girl nervously let out. The two men fleetingly looked at each other and then back at Liko, beaming a smile at her. "I guess it's time for another epic story" Friede started making Likos eyes lit up in excitment. "YUCHU!! I can't wait to hear more of your adventures." Roy marginally startled everyone with his sudden shout out. "Full of energy like always." Murdock stated laughing. After a heartfelt clearing of his throat the professor began to speak. "We actually met way before the RVTs were even founded. I still worked at my old job back then. That was.... " Friede paused mid-sentence and everyone eagerly waited for him to continue. "Let's just say it was a long time ago" he finally stated proudly sitting there with crossed arms, getting a judging stare out of everyone. Murdock playfully rolled his eyes because he already expected his best friend to not being able to remember the exact time. It's one of his weaknesses he has to admit is quite amusing sometimes.
"To be honest I would have actually been shocked if you did remember the exact time!" Friede just uttered an awkward chuckle while rubbing the back of his head. The cook released a deafeted sigh before he took over the storytelling "I joined the crew 7 years ago, but we actually met a bit more than 3 years before that event, so in total we know each other for around 10 years." Murdock started to explain "WOAH 10 YEARS!!?" the kids yelled out amaze, giving Murdock kinda the fright. "I probabaly wasn't even born back then!" Roy was already full into the story. "We barley started and it's already turning into chaos" Friede couldn't help but to laugh. "You of all people complain about chaos?" Orla bursted out into laughter. "HEY! What is that supposed to mean?" Friede gave her an offended glare. "You have the talent to bring chaos into everyones lifes and I don't mean it in a negative way" Murdock added and a soft smile formed on his lips "Honestly...I don't know what I would have done if I never met you" Murdock let himself getting swepped in by his emotions, tenderly smiling "He saved my heart back then" The moment the cook finished his sentence he grasped what he actually just said, instantly regretting it. He felt sharp stinging eyes staring at him. Casting a quick glance over his shoulder in the direction of this, let's say quite intimidate aura, to indeed see Mollie and Orla grining develish at him! "Now you have my full attention." the nurse said now fully involved. "Don't be shy and tell us everything, and don't you dare to leave anything interesting out." the mechanic demanded with a bittersweet grin on her face, making Murdock shiver in fear a bit. "W..Well...also it all started 10 years ago in a small forest of Galar..."
10 years ago somewhere in Galar:
It was almost lunch time and Murdocks day off. He had already finished all his laundry and others important tasks for today so he decided to go pick some berries for his cakes. Just a normal day like usual. Little did he know that his life gonna change forever starting from today. The forest Murdock was heading to was called Glimwood Tangle. It wasn't that big, but you could easily get lost if you lack the right knowledge. The several, maze-like paths shouldn't be taken lightly. Though perpetually dark, luminescent mushrooms provide small circles of light at various points on the paths. Touching these mushrooms causes them to glow more brightly and expands the area that they light. No problem for Murdock though, as he comes here weekly to pay a visit. So naturally everything went smootly and he fastly found everything he was looking for. "All right!! I got quite the good loot" He happiely summed while packing the last berry into his backpack. "Okay time to head home" He settled the bag on his shoulders and was about to leave the forest, when he got hold back by a weird sound. Thinking it was probably just a wild Pokemon, he tried to ignore it, but something deep inside him told him he should follow this odd noise. The curiousity growing inside him won and he embarked to investigate, firstly narrowing down from which direction the strange sound came from. Murdock now cautiously walked through the bushes, carefully watching his steps by touching the glowing mushrooms on his way to see better. The weird sound getting louder and louder...it more and more became creepy and with every further step he questioned his decision heavily.
But in this moment the pastry chef tripped over a big »object« and fell over, landing flat on his face. "Ouch...that hurt...?" He got rid of his backpack so he could sit up, rubbing his face to ease the pain. The creepy sound now suddenly came directly from behind him and sheer horror filled his body. That's it...that's his end...he should have just gone home when he still had the chance. "W...wa..." This made Murdock jump, letting out a high-pitched scream, now facing the source of this weird sound "Wa...water...." The cook now stared perplex at the ominous figure laying on the ground "Water?" he asked himself loudly until finally realizing it's actually a human-being laying down on the forest soil. Without thinking he rushed over to try and help. The white haired man was in an absolute terrible state, pale face, dry lips. Murdock tried to slightly shake the stranger to wake him up "Oi mister can you here me?" The smaller man tried to talk but no words came out, most likely having a dry throat, so the cook pulled out his water bottle and carefully making him swollow the water. After a few sips the stranger slightly opened his eyes just faintly able to see that someone was holding him. He was so dehydrated and hungry that he couldn't move. "Am I dead or why I see an angel?" he weakly said, the lack of nutrition must be playing games on his brain. Murdock got spooked by the sudden response and after his mind comprehended what the man just said his cheeks got quite the blush. But he also freaked out simoltaniouly, because he thought the stranger is about to leave this world. "S..stop talking nonsense Mister!! You are about to kick the bucket!!" he panicly started to shake him like a ragdoll so he would stay awake. "So bright..." the man mumbled looking even paler than before. "DON'T FOLLOW THE LIGHT!! Murdock now was fully on allert. " YOU GONNA BE OKAY! I'M SAVING YOU!!" Some time passed and the white-haired man were now leaning against a tree, gulping down a sandwich Murdock handed him. "I know you must be hungry, but you shouldn't gulp down the food like that or.." he couldn't even finsihed his sentence before the other man started to choke. "SEE I TOLD YOU!!" The chef offered him some water and the man gladly accepted it, washing down the food with it, letting out a satisfied sigh "Fwuuuhhh that was good! Thank you so much for saving me." the smaller man bowed down while still sitting to show how grateful he is "No problem I'm glad I could help you, but that surley creeped me out at first...talking nonsene like seeing and angel and stuff" he admitted slightly flustered. Realisation hit Friede like a Hyperbeam! WAIT!? Shit..Did he really said that out loud?? How embarrassing "S...Sorry I didn't mean to scare youl. Thank you! I owe you big time mister...?" right he didn't even know the name of his saviour yet. "Ahh I totally forgot to introduce myself didn't I? Name's Murdock nice to meet you...?" now it was the cook questionly looking at the other man and was greeted with a geniune smile "Nice to meet you Murdock! Call me Friede" and with that they exchanged a friendly handshake.
"What where you even doing here Mister Friede?" Friede immediatly gave him a cringe visage. "Please drop the Mister no need to be so formal just call me Friede." he insisted. "Ah sorry Mi...I mean Friede!" the cook stutterd a little bit, feeling a bit awkward, not formally adressing someone he just met. "So about my question..." he asked cautiously, not wanting to come off pushy, but for some reason he wanted to know more about Friede, who now was resting his back on a tree after stretching his arms. "I was reasearching Pokemon in their natural habitat." he began to narrate. "You know documenting how they find food, how they interact with each other, what they like and don't like, stuff like that." His voice sounded a bit sorrowful or was he just imagining it? Stop it your are just overthinking again. The cook scolded himself. "Sounds intersting. Is that your job or just a hobby?" he then added. "Oh haven't I told you? I'm a professor and I arrived here three days ago for my research" Friede proudly said. "Your a professor??! That's impressive!" Murdocks brain slowly took in the rest of the imformation he just got and nearly couldn't believe his ears. "Wait...YOU DIDN'T DRINK AND ATE PROPERLY FOR THREE DAYS!!?" the bigger man was quite outraged about this discovery so Friede tried to convince him that there is no need to fuss about this "Please it's not that big of a deal. I'm used to get by with little food and water. Besides I only planned to be here for a day, two at most but I got lost on my way out so..." he was certain that would be enough to reassure Murdock, but the opposite happened. "WHAT!? That's even worse! Pack your stuff together you coming with me" A bit intimidated Friede meekly asked "Where do you wanna bring me?" Murdock shouldered his backback and turned around to face Friede. "To my home. I make you a heathy meal...I...I mean I can't force you to come with me so..." Murdock now got nervouse because he realized that came across like an command and he might have pressured the other man. "You can cook?" Friede ask curiously "Yeah. I'm a pastry chef and actually work in a bakery together with a friend, but I can cook basically everything. I always loved to cook. Imagining everyone happily eating a good meal with a smile on their faces...I'm always looking forward to that. It's the best reward." what Friede now witnessed was the most geniune smile he ever saw. Murdock must really love cooking. He somehow felt a bit melancholic, but put this feeling aside for the time being. "Now I can't say no to such an promising offer." Friede chirped, and started to pack his stuff following Murdock's lead. "I'm glad to here that, let me know if you need help." When he was ready to go he looked at Murdock who wore a charming smile "Guess I really met an angel today after all" he whispered to himself, smiling softly he started to follow Murdock.
This was the beginning of a long and beautiful friendship. Of course Friede couldn't stay forever in Galar and had to go back to the lab he was working at, but for the next two years they tried to spend any freetime they had together, always staying in tough through their rotom phones. They shared everything with each other, their thoughts, their fears, what they love, what they hate. They could talk about literally anything and end up laughing together. Life seemed perfect. Little did they know that they had to overcome various hurdles on their journey towards true Happiness.
2 years after their first meeting:
Murdock looked on his phone checking if Friede answered him...he didn't. He let out a dissapointed sigh. One month has passed now since Friede vanished without saying a word, without answering his messages...at least he knows he is not dead seeing that he left him on read. He probably was just busy because the past few weeks before that his friend already kept replying less and less frequently...he knew Friede must have a good reason...but it still hurted to be ignored..."Why isn't he answering...did I do something wrong?" Questions like that kept spiraling in his head every day. He knew it was pointless to continue writing him at this point...if he haven't answered him before why should he now? The cook felt like he only keeps bothering Friede, so he decided it's time to accept that he probably won't see him again anytime soon and just trying to continue his life without him. It's only a month since he saw his best friend the last time...or at least he thought they were...but he already felt like something important is missing. Murdock felt so helpless. Just the thought of possible never seeing Friede again scares him. "Argh" Frustrated he let himself fall down on his bed. Now laying on his back he stared at the ceiling "I have no time to think about that now...I need to find a new job..." Murdock looked a last time at his conversation with Friede before he locked it away together with his heart.
At the same time Friede was out at sea fishing with his gramps and laying at his back, yet again staring half-lidded at the messages Murdock send him over the past month.
"Good morning Friede <3 I was visiting my sister yesterday to help make preperations for her daughters birthday. Can you imagine Dot is already turning 2 soon? I still can't believe I'm an uncle now. She is the precioust niece I could ever ask for" "Oi Friede you won't believe what just happend! Our little Milcery evolved into an Ruby Mix Alcremie! I can now make even more delicious cakes! Wanna come over and eat some?" "Sorry you're probably very busy, so it's okay if you don't have the energy to answer, but I haven't heard from you for two weeks now. I can't help but to get a bit worried...are you alright?" "Ehm sorry I hope I'm not bothering you...I know I said it's okay if you don't feel like answering but I'm worried and I kinda miss talking to you...Did something happen? I have so many questions and I wish I knew what you are doing right now. You know you can always talk to me ok?"
Friede uttered out a frustrated groan, covering his eyes to blend out the sunlight "If I only knew myself what I was doing right now..." It's now a month since he quit his job, he had no back-up plan, but he knew it was the right decision. He felt so unbearably exhausted, he would have lost his mind, if he have stayed in the lab any more minute. But what now? What is it what he want's to do? Honestly? He had no answer to that. He sat up to cast his fishing rod again, staring blankly into the distance. "How many more days you intend to pass this way?" Ludlow curiously asked his grandson "Huh?" Friede replied with a bored tone, not even looking at his gramps. "Youth should not be spent waiting for pray to bite when you can set out and claim it for yourself." Ludlow continued. "You say that, but...Not like I have anything else to do." Friede indifferently let out as something had taken the bait. "It's a big one Friede!" Ludlow called out. After cautiously reeling in whatever was at the other end of the string and with a "Hyah!" Friede sucessfully pulled out a Slowbro in one strong swing. Watching the Pokemon slowly walk past him and jumping back into the water, he let himself fall on his back, heaving out an irritated sigh. "I've got nothing..." he uttered out "You've got it good with your boat, Gramps. You can go anywhere." Now streching his hand towards the blue sky. "You have wings of your own." Ludlow replied. Friede gently patted the head of his charizard who was laying right next to him sleeping. "Even this guy's been in a mood lately." getting a lazy groan in return of his partner. "What should we do?" right at this moment he got a phone call from Ms. Lucca, who was about to show him a new Horizon.
8 month later:
One week has passed since the Rising Volt Tacklers were founded and the Brave Asagi set off for the first time, marking the begin of a long adventure to come. "Argh!! We can't just live from canned food and sandwiches" Orla complained, chewing on some conserved fruits. "It can't be helped nobody of us can cook properly." Friede replied, biting off a big chunk of bread. "Then why don't find a cook for our crew?" Friede tensed up and got suspicious silent for a moment, looking away sadly. "What's wrong!?" Orla could tell her childhood friend is hiding something. Friede had troubled feelings coming up. He tried to not think about the whole situation with Murdock, but judging Orlas look on her face there was no way to dodge this question. So he inhaled deeply before forming his words. "Nothing...or well...it's complicated...I know someone that can cook. I would die for his food, it's so damn delicious but when I quit my job I just left him behind without telling him and..."
"YOU LEFT WITHOUT SAYING ANYTHING? WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?" the mechanic couldn't believe what she just heard. The sudden yelling from her made him act defensive out of reflex. "See I'm not proud of that and I wish I could change that, but I sadly can't and I already hate myself for that!" he snapped back. "Sorry Friede I didn't wanted to scold you like that" Orla apologized, breaking the silence that had settled in the meeting room. After another short pause Friede shakingly exhaled before he was able to explain what happend back then. "Like I said I ignored his messages, but I literally ignore everything at this time, I didn't knew what I wanted to do, everything seemed so pointless...I just just felt ashamed to tell him I quit my job because I couldn't stand it anymore, when he worked everyday with such passion and joy. I didn't want him to worry or pity me, but what I did in the end is even worse...so eventually he stopped writing at all and I don't blame him...after all this time I can't just start writing him like nothing happend right?" Orla wore a sympathic smile. She could tell it must be hard for Friede to even talk about this so she sqeezed his shoulder gently to assure him. "I don't even know if he still is working in this bakery!" he stated insecurly, burying his face into his arms. "Then let's find out" Friede lifted his head again and gave Orla a confused look "Huh? Did you listen to anything I just told you I..." but Orla grabbed his shoulders so he was forced to look at her. "What is if he is still waiting for you to come back?" She asked her childhood friend with a determind gaze. Friede's eyes flickered to the floor with a sorrowful expression. "Look at us! We haven't talked for years and then BAMM five month ago you suddenly appeared right before me, making the craziest demand." the machanican literally tackle his side with her elbow pretty hard making Friede cry out. "THAT HURT!! ARE YOU CRAZY! What was that for!?" scoffing back at her. "You won't know until you try right?" Orla winked her eye at him. He couldn't help but feel motivated now "You're not gonna let this go,are you?" he said in a defeated tone. But she is right. He needs to put his fear aside and face Murdock once again. Even if he don't wanna be his friend anymore, the least thing he could do is to proper apologize to him.
A few days later they eventually arrived in Galar. The bakery Murdock used to work at was unfortnatly closed down for good so Friede tried to ask the neighberhood if they happen to know anything about this, hoping someone might know were Murdock went. But the only clue they got is that he should still be somewhere in Galar, so they tried to search stratedically by visiting every reastaurant, Cafe or any other shop that could be related to food in any way. Two weeks had passed since they started their endeavor looking for Murdock, but their search only fruited into several dead ends. Today they tried their luck in Wyndon, the most populous city in Galar and home to the biggest Stadium in this region. Heated battle against to current champion are the main attraction. But that's not what they are here for. They had an important mission to fullfill. On top of that they also did finish some jobs in between. Somehow they had to earn money right? Running around all day makes hungry though, so they decided to treat themselve to a nice meal for once and went to another restaurant nearby that an friendly old lady had recommended to them earlier.
Without hesitation they entered the building and were kinda surprised how spacious it was inside. The interior looked quite noble, but simple and not to fancy. Orla and Friede fastly sat down to study the menu, waiting for an waiter to take their order. "Welcome to »Dylan's table« were we serve passion. Can I take your orders?" Friede immediatly froze...This voice...it can't be...He had to take all his courage to look at the waiters face. A very familiar visage awaited him ."M...Murdock!?" The man standing right before them indeed was Murdock, who now just stared at him in shock, needing a moment until realisation hit him. "F...FRIEDE!?? What are you doing here!?? I was worried you know!??" The cook immediatly coverd his mouth because his voice came out louder then he anticipated. Friede wasn't prepared to suddenly talk to him so he didn't know what to say and became nervous "I..I'm so sorry that I left without telling you...actually I was searching for you right now to..." he forcfully got shoved aside mid-sentence. "So you are the cook Friede was raving about!" Orla interrupted, trying to help turning this conversation into a positive one. "W..What!? R—raving about me? Why?" Murdock was so overwhelmed. He thought Friede didn't wanna be his friend anymore so he couldn't believe what he heared. Friede tried to hold Orla back "Stop it you embaressing me!" he pleaded awkwardly. "No I'm actually helping you out here you coward!" she snapped back at the professor holding him at his collar now. Murdock started to feel uneasy. "P..please don't fight here Miss?" Orla let go of Friede so she could focus on the cook again. "Sorry I didn't introduced myself! My name is Orla nice to meet you!" she beamed a smile at him. "My name is Murdock...wait you already knew that! Ahahaha" he awkwardly figured. Orla then went back to Friede, giving him a friendly push.
Watching those two having a friendly quarrle let Murdocks uneasyness and confusion slowly turn into saddness. "I see...that's why you didn't answered..." he whispered to himself with a soft but distressed smile. Friede saw that Murdock was staring at Orla and noticed the sudden mood change. He couldn't help but feel guilty seeing Murdock with such a sad expression. "Orla and I are..." He was interupted by a rather demanding and unpleasent voice. "Murdock what is this ruckus about? I don't pay you for doing small talk with our guest" A man with small stature and grey hair was standing right beside the cook, looking at him furiously. "Aaaahhh I'm sorry Mister Dylan it won't happen again!" Murdock shamefully bowed down. That didn't went unnoticed by Friede and Orla who instantly felt sorry for him. "You better go back to your work right now, or you have to deal with the consequnces. Did I made myself clear?" the manr angrily voiced. Murdocks body flinched at this. "Yes Mister Dylan!" he responded with a shaking voice, still bowing down, sweat dropping down his face. The restaurant owner then gave a sinsiter look to Friede, who gave him an annoyed look in return before walking away to talk to others cutomers. Only when Mister Dylan was out of sight Murdock raised his head. "S..Sorry Friede I need to go back into the kitchen" the cook didn't even looked at Friede and was about to hastly leave. Friede felt his heart stopping and filling with fear. Not again...he won't leave him again...not this time. "WAIT!" he yelled after his friend. The other man stopped in his track and turned around hesitantly, still wearing a anxious expression. The look on his face broke Friedes heart. "Can we have a proper talk after you finsihed work?" the white haired man expressed his request. Friede could tell that Murdock had troubled thoughts at the way he tried to avoid eye-contact. "W..well I would love to, but I won't be finished till 11pm...I can't possible ask you to wait that long..." putting on a rather forced smile he then exused himself to vanish back into the kitchen.
Friede let himself fall back into his seat, heaving out a frustrated sigh "Nice Friede...that was the cringest conversation you ever had." his eyes sliding shut. "That poor sweetie!" Friede and Orla turned their attention in direction of the voice. At the table next to them was sitting an old lady. "May I ask what you mean with that Ma'am?" Friede curiously asked. The old lady now faced the duo "You were looking for him earlier right?" The lady seriously asked, wearing a serene smile. "You are...?" The old lady kept smiling at him and Friede eventually recognised her. "Wait is that the reason you recommended this restaurant to us earlier?" he asked astonished and the old lady nod her head in affirmation. Friede face then tensed up a bit "I met Murdock three years ago, but through personal circumstances I haven't talked to him in the past year." while he said that he let his gaze wander to look at the floor. "I wanted to apologize to him for treating him like that.." he paused a moment biting his lip. "I want to be his friend again" He couldn't help but feel like he had just completely exposed himself in front of everyone. The old lady watched the white-haird man closely and tenderly smiled "Then will you safe his heart?" Friedes eyes widend "Save...his heart?" he repeated. What on earth did happen during the past year? His heart started to beat faster, just thinking about what Murdock might have had gone through in his absence, while also believing he got ditched by his best friend...he gulped down his guilt for a moment and made a decision. "Can you please tell me?" his eyes were literally begging for an answer. "Do you really wanna know young man?" The old lady asked in retutn, but this time with a serious look on her face. "Yes Ma'am please tell me what you know"" he replied, bowing down with determinating. Her smile softened again and her eyes now slide to the other guests. "Don't you find it odd that no other Waiters or Waitress are here tending to the customers?" Friede and Orla looked around exermining the situation. "Now that you mention it...where are they?" the mechanic wondered. "They all quit half a year ago, that poor sweetie is the only one left. He basically serves the customers, cooks, cleans everything all alone everyday until late at night. I live near by so I know when he comes here and when he lefts. He goes home around 11pm and starts working at 3am each morning, except sunday." Friede was shocked, he couldn't believe what he had just heard. "WHAT!!! THAT'S CRAZY!! There is no way that he can be happy with that!" The professor was completely shaken up emotionally.
Unfortunatly their conversation got interrupted by the restaurant owner. "Dear custumors I'm afraid I have to ask you to leave." you could hear the malicious undertone in his voice. "And why is that so?" Orla immadiatly snapped back, seeing that her friend isn't emotionally in the right mind right now. "This table has a reservation and like you sadly see all other seats are taken. I'm sorry but I must ask you to leave." Orla angrily stood up, banging her hands on the table. "Come on old man you just made that up!?" she was about to throw hands but got hold back by Friede. "It's okay we go." he had a serious look on his face so she left it at that and accepted his decision without protest.
They now were standing outside. "Are you just going to give up on him like that!?" Orla asked Friede firmly. "Of couse not. But if the old lady is right then us staying would have just gave him extra unneccessary work." Orla let out a sigh "Your not wrong." she paused for a brief moment. "So what's the plan?" she continued. Friede didn't answered immediatly, instead he started to slowly stroll around the corner of the restaurant, giving her a signal to follow him. "He said he has to work till 11pm right?" he asked rhetorically while sitting down on a small bench, making himself comforteable. "I'm just gonna wait for him here, so I can intercept him as soon as he's off work." he voiced his plan. Orla saw the determination in his eyes and gave him and reasuring smile. "Okay then I gonna head back to the ship for now." she said getting a nod of him in return. "You got this!" the mechanic then added winking at him before excusing herself. Friede couldn't help to let out a small insecure chuckle. How did she know that he still felt nervous?
At the same time Murdock was about to prepare the dishes for Friede and his companion, realising he forgot to actually take their order. So he tried to rush outsite to get them but got stopped by his boss entering the kitchen who inform him that they suddenly left. The cook wanted to asked for the reason, but he already got scolded earlier so he swollowed down his concerns. With an uneasy heart he then continued his daily work. Always putting on a smile, no matter how crushed he might felt. When he happened to pass by the table of the old lady, she secretly told him the truth. At least he was kinda relieved now, knowing that Friede didn't leave because of him turning down his request to talk. Still...For some reason work felt even longer today than usual. The hours passed and after finally being finished with cleaning up the cook change out of his work clothes and then locked the door behind him, heaving out an exhausted sigh. He couldn't get todays situation out of his mind. "Will I see him again...?" he let out a slight yawn. "I probably should go home and get some rest." The moment he turned around the corner a happy "There you are! I waited for you!" greeted him. Murdock was caught so off-guard that he jumped a little, lost his balance and landed on his butt. "D--Dont scare me like that." He pressed his hand against his racing heart trying to calm it down. "Sorry I didn't mean to startle you." Friede answerd while offering his hand to help the other man stand up. Murdock hesitated at first but then took the offering hand. "Don't tell me you waited all day for me to finish work?" Murdock asks as Friede pulls him onto his feet "What if I did?" Friede mischievously returend the question. Murdock just gave him an unimpressed look. "Then you'd be an idiot!" the cook teased him. Friede wanted to defend himself but a sneeze slipped out. Murdock gave him ja udging look before he started walking, giving Friede a waving signal to follow him "Come you idiot I gonna make you a warm tea." Friede wanted to protest, he didn't want to cause him any inconvenience or add to his already imense workload. But this talk is already overdue so he sprinted after Murdock. Ten Minutes later they have arrived at the small appartment Murdock lives in. Friede started to analyse his surroundings out of habit. The space seemed barley enough for one person. It had one big room that were divided up in different areas. To his surprise the kitchen was almost none existent and only had the bare minimum, including a fridge, a stove and a sink. The rest of the flat was filled with a bed, a small couch and a table. Other than that there only were a cabinet and a cupboard. At least there was a toilett with a shower. Considering how much Murdock is working every day it's likely that he hardly spends any time here, besides sleeping.
Make yourself at home I'm gonna brew us some tea." Murdock suggested before fiddeling around in the kitchen. Friede continued studying his surroundings, everything was furnished so...plain and lifeless...it doesn't suit Murdock at all. He felt his heart sink again. While his eyes kept sliding through the apartment, two framed pictures caught his attention. On one of them was a woman holding a baby. "That must be his sister and his niece he told me about." He thought. The other frame though was covered with a big layer of dust, making it hard to recognize anything. As he sat down on the couch, Murdock promptly came back with a hot cup of coffee instead. "Sorry seems like I'm out of tea so I made you some coffee, hope that also suits you." He put the cup down on the table before he made himself comfortable next to Friede. The white-haired man thankfully grabbed the cup, taking a small sip. "Thank you Murdock." He beamed a smile at him and the other man returned the favor. They now sat there silently for a while.
"You know..." Murdock paused for a second fiddling with his own cup of coffee "I was thinking you were busy, but I didn't expect that you find yourself a girlfriend. She seems like a very nice person and she is pretty. I'm happy for you." Somehow saying this felt like a lie, but why?! Isn't it a good thing that his friend found happiness? Before he had the chance to fall deeper into his thoughts he was interrupted by Friede heavely choking on his coffee trying to catch his breath "Easy, easy! Was it too hot? Are you okay!?" Murdock asked worried, while gently patting Friedes back. "You think Orla is my girlfriend?!" Friede spurted out, coffee drippng out his mouth. The room got dead silent and Murdocks brain slowly processed the new information until it made »CLICK« "W—Wait she is not!??" Murdock stuttered dumbfounded. "No we are just childhood friends" Friede squeezed out, having to cough slightly again. "Oh..." Murdock now felt stupid for even assuming that, but for some reason he couldn't stop smiling!? "H..hold on! Why I'm so happy about that? It's noit like I'm in love with him or anything..." Murdock stopped his thoughts right there. What on earth was he thinking just now? he started to question his own sanity. Friede felt kinda lost watching Murdock switching from smiling to heavely shaking his head several times, wondering about that sudden mood change. Why would he be so happy about the fact that Orla isn't his girlfriend? It doesn't made sense to him...unless? NO NO NO NO!! That can't be it! There is no way that he... Friede now looked at Murdock, shook his head and then looked at Murdock again. When their eyes eventually met for a moment, both quickly averted their gaze again, slightly flushed. "I'm sorry I left without telling you." Friede apologized breaking the silenced that had settled above the pair. Murdock on the other hand remained suspiciously quiet and Friede quickly found the reason. The cook was barley awake, struggeling to keep his eyes from falling shut and his head getting heavier with any second. Friede gently squeezed Murdocks shoulder to get his attention. And it worked, the cook tensed up for a moment, blinking his eyes open until his vision wasn't blury anymore. "S..Sorry can you repeat what you just said? I'm afraid I was out of it for a minute." He had to admit. Friede automatically wore an understanding smile. "It's okay. You must be really tired. We can talk tomorrow. Come with me!" Friede grabbed Murdocks hand and guided him to his bed. He could tell that his friend wanted to protest and listen to what he had to say instead, but was simply to tired to do so. "It's already late...you can stay here if you want...would love to talk to you again..." Murdock muttered already half asleep. Moments later the cook was soundly snoring and Friede watched him for a while...he really looked exhausted, burnt-out even. He never saw Murdock with such a fatigued face. Sadness filled his heart, when he thought about how long this situation already made him suffer. But there is unfortunatly little he could do about this right now, except of letting his friend rest. Before Friede settled himself down on the couch, he texted Orla that he won't come back today, so she won't start worrying. Casting one last look at Murdocks sleeping silhouette before turning off the lights.
The next morning: Friede was awakened by the sunlight blending his eyes. After a sharp yawn he sat up, stretching his arms, before opening his eyes. Still being drowsy he had to think where he actually was. "Right I'm in Murdock's appartment." the professor noted, staring at the empty bed in the corner. The clock told him it was 10am so of course Murdock already left for work. He got distracted by his grumbling stomach. He didn't plan to stay over night, so he didn't bring anything to eat. He played with the idea to quickly go into town to get somethng, when his eyes spotted a note an the table. It was from Murdock.
Good morning Friede. I hope I didn't woke you up when I left. I prepared some sandwitches and put them in the fridge so feel free to grab some.
A tear was dripping down his cheek. Friede was relieved to see that Murdocks still is the caring sweetheart he used to be, but he also felt that he didn't deserve this kindness right now. His growling stomach made it hard to resist a homemade sandwich from Murdock, so he gladly took one.
Hour later it was almost time for Murdock to finish work so Friede decided to surprise him and pick him up. And he knew it was the right decision when he saw the overjoyed smile on the cooks face the second he spotted him in the distance. They walked back to the apartment doing some Small Talk. Stepping inside, Murdock directly rushed over to the kitchen to heat up the stove. "I brought some leftovers from work, so let me heat it up real quick and let us eat first." The cook suggested. "Sounds great." Friede agreed. And soon after they were stuffing their faces. "Mhhmmm delicious." Friede praised, taking another fork full. "Your food is still as good as I remember it." he kept praising while chewing blissfully. A smile formed on Murdocks lips watching his friend gulping down the food like in old times. "I'm glad to know that." the chef said realizing how much he had missed hanging out with Friede.
"Did you ever think about quitting your current job?" Friede suddenly asked with a serious look on his face. "What do you mean?" the cook was visually irriteated. "I'm asking if you are happy to work under this terrible circumstances?" the professor got more precise. "It's just how life works. Having to work hard for your money is normal." Murdock justified, somehow dodging the question. "Being unhappy isn't normal!" Friede kept pressing. "Why are you suddenly asking stuff like that?" Murdock countered feeling more and more pressured. Friede could tell he really tried to avoid giving him a proper answer so he decided to tell him the truth. "I run into your boss earlier, when I was on my way to pick you up from work and I might have giving him my honest opinion."
"YOU DID WHAT!?" Murdock jumped of his seat in disbelieve, eagerly waiting for Friede to explain himself, so the white-haired man had no other choice but to tell him. "See your boss immadiatly scoffed at me demandig that I better stop corrupting your mind with delusional thoughts, so I naturally snapped back at him, telling him what a big scumbag he is and that he should be thankful that you haven't quit yet and..." Friede got cut off. "BUT I NEED THIS JOB! " Murdock couldn't hold back his anger. "Not if you join us! I'm sure you will be way more happy when...!" Friede tried to argue but got cut off yet again. Murdock was furious, rage filling his body and eventually he snapped. "YOU CAN'T JUST COME BACK AFTER A YEAR AND DECIDE WHATS GOOD FOR ME!" Friedes whole body flinched. He never wittmessed Murdock losing his cool before and he would lie if he wasn't scared right now. "YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT I HAVE BEEN THROUGH ALL THIS TIME!!" the cook's voice was giving in so he was forced to speak softer. "I thought you stopped writing because I was annoying to you...and then you suddenly appeared again yesterday...I didn't knew how to feel.. but I still was so happy to see you again and hoped we can go back like we used to be, but you understand nothing so stop acting like you still know me, because you don't! You didn't even cared enough to answer my messages."
Murdock only stopped talking because he was out of breath and shocked about himself...it's the first time he lost his temper like that. Friede just looked at the floor totally defeated. Murdock was right he didn't had the right to come back into his life after literally vanishing without saying a word and neglacting his best friend, if he even has the right to think about him like that. After some time Murdock had catched his breath again and more calmed down. "Sorry...I didn't wanted to leash out on you like that." the cook apoligized, his voice being crisp from yelling. Friede was full of regrets right now. "No I should be the one being sorry...your right I'm a terrible friend. I quit my job a year ago, because i couldn't bear working there anymore. I lost any motivation with it and went more lazy with every day passing not knowing what I want to do and I was so selfinserted with my own problems that I didn't even think about how you must have felt after I just left...I'm truly sorry" He couldn't look into Murdocks eyes and the cook also couldn*t look into his. Friede then continued "The only thing I know is that you deserve better and that I can't bear see you like this...the moment I saw your forced smile I knew...you lost your passion...and it broke my heart when I realized it's my fault...if I had just talked to you properly than you wouldn't be overworking yourself now...you have all the right to hate me." Friede had to pause for a moment, because his voice started to tremble. "You wanted to make everyone smile with your food right? But do you think they are happy when they see your tired and forced smile?" Murdock still couldn't look at Friede. "I don't hate you...I could never hate you...I just have so many thoughts right know, I'm confused and...I just need some time alone to think. I hope you understand so could you please go for now...I should go to bed soon anyways because I have work tomorrow." The brown-haird man was gripping his pants, trying to hold his tears back. Friede silently walked to the door, when he opened it and was about to go outside Murdocks heart sank, fearing his friend might not come back and leave him forever. "I also hoped we could go back to the way we were, instead I hurted your feelings even more and I'm sorry...but..." Friede had to hold his tears back "...we will dock with the Brave Asagi at the bay for three more days...I marked the exact point on your map...If you feel like giving me another chance I would love if we could at least talk again once more before we head to another region." he finished before closing the door. When Friede was gone Murdock couldn't hold back any longer and everything bursted out of him. He started sobbing heavely, tears and snot running down his face, while he felt his heart getting crushed under all this weight.
It was already 11pm and Orla started to get worried waiting for Friede to return. When he eventuallly arrived at the Brave Asagi she joyfully greeted him with a "Welcome back!! How did your conversation go?" but Friede didn't gave her a respond, walking past her with a depressed face and went straight to his room. "Guess it didn't went well." Orla sadly noted and followed him out of concern, but when she heard quiet sobs coming from his room she decided to give him some privacy and left.
The next day:
Murdock was so restless all night that he couldn't fall asleep and also forgot to set his alarm. So imagine the shock when he realized that it already was past 5am "Damn I overlslept!" He dressed up real fast and left his apartment in a hurry. When he arrived at the restaurant he saw his boss trying to stop the customers from leaving, assuring them the cook will arrive any minute. When he noticed Murdock walking in he promptly scolded him. "What do you think you are doing? You are two hours too late! You bringing shame to my restaurant" Murdock lowered his head. "Sorry I overslept it wont happen again." he tried to appease his boss. "IT BETTER WONT! As a punishment I gonna cut your payment for this month!" Mister Dylan decided. "But then I can't pay my rent." Murdock pleaded but Mister Dylan immadiatly shut him down. "That's not my problem! If you wanna blame someone than blame this silly excuse of a man. This white-haired scum didn't know his place and tried to criticise me. I would advise you to stay away from him, he is a bad influence for you and now stop wasting my time and already go to the kitchen." Mister Dylan demanded.
"No." Murdock said without thinking, like his mouth started to move on it's own. "What was that?" his boss asked, trying to further intimidate him and Murdock flinched in fear, his body trembeling...suddenly remembering Friedes words from yesterday. "He was right....And I yelled at him....I'm so stupid..!" he thought, still trembeling. "I said No." he then repeated. After sharply inhaling he finally could face his boss. "Actually I'm here to quit. I won't work for you anymore!" The cook made up his mind. "You are opposing your boss?" the owner started but Murdock kept going. He still was afraid but this is what his heart is telling him to do right now. "Yes I do and I should have done that way earlier!! You are the most heartless and greediest person I know and I feel ashamed that I didn't realized that until now. I wasted so much time here and almost forgot why I started to cook in the first place." The owner got furious after listening to that. "You want to quit? Than I have news for you! You are fired! Take your stuff and then get your out of my sight" his now ex-boss insisted and with a "I will gladly do so!" Murdock packed his belongings. When he finally stepped outside the restaurant he felt like a heavy weight falling down his shoulders.
Back at Murdocks appartment:
"What was I thinking!?" Murdock restlessly paced around his room, trying to not freak out "You just quit your job without even talking to Friede first! What if he changed his mind and doesn't want you to join anymore. I wouldn't blame him after I yelled at him like that and said such horrible things." All his thoughts just came bubbeling out unfiltered. Murdock felt overwhelmed, unable to calm down and he just begged for a sign. His walking circles became bigger with every loop so it was unavoideable that he gonna bump against his cupboard at some point. With a loud »BAMM« he was now laying on the cold floor. After a while of just staring at the ceiling he noticed a picture frame right next to him that he must have knocked over when hitting the cupboard. He sat up to grab it. "That sure is a lot of dust..." he noted while wiping away said dust. His eyes widend when he recocgnized the picture in it. "That's..." Murodock bit his lips and almost started crying. It was a photo of Friede and him hugging each other. He still could remember when they made this photo. It was at the very day they first met. He had invited Friede to his home and offered to cook for him after he found him almost starving in the woods. Murdock felt a bit awkward back then to make a selfie with someone he barly knew, but Friede insisted that it would be a great memory. And right now he is so unbelieveable thankful for that. Tears start running down his cheeks, dripping on the glass with the picture he was holding firmly. "I'm such a fool..." Murdock wiped away his tears and steadied himself. Putting the picture frame back were it belonged, he grabbed his phone to look up the description Friede mentioned yesterday. His face went pale when he saw this disaster. It was a map from Galar with a big red circle were the beach is located. >Somewhere here< was written next to it. "DID HE REALLY THINK THAT WOULD BE ENOUGH!?" Doesn't he know how large this beach is!?" He had to chuckle right after, because in a sense this is just like Friede is. Still nervous and uncertain about the future he opened the door to apologize to Friede, hoping he still want him at his side.
Later at the same day:
Friede was resting his arms and head on the reiling, staring into the distance with an empty look. He couldn't sleep at all last night and haven*t eaten yet either. "Friendships that have weathered storms are the ones that shine brightest when the sun reemerges." Ludlow said sitting near by trying to catch some fish. "You say that but..." Friede muttered when he suddenly got pushed from behind by Orla, actually making him fall overboard. "Thank me later!" she said mischievously. In fact the brunette already noticed Murdock standing at the entrance for a while. The cook got cold feet and was debating with himself if he should knock or not, when he suddenly heared his name."You better catch him Murdock!" Orla shouted from above with a big grin. Murdocks gaze immediately shot upwards just to see Friede falling towards him. Without thinking he catched his friend and through the impact they both were now laying on the ground. "A...are you okay?" the cook carfully asked looking at Friede who instantly jumped off him after realizing he was laying on top of Murdock. "Sorry about that!" he then apologized.
After a short period of silence both of them suddenly bursted out into laughter. "That was a hell of a Welcome." Murdock snorted out. "You should have seen your face." Friede wheezed. "Sorry for not expecting that you get yeeted at me!" Murdock huffed back. "That certainly wasn't on my list today either." Friede stated still chuckling. Their laughing fit got interrupted by Friedes loudly growling stomach. Murdock just looked unsurprised at his friend who was slightly blushing. The chef let out a serene sigh. "I think I need to stay or you will keep on with your unhealthy eating habit." he teasingly figured. A big grin now appeared on Friedes face. "Guess you have a new job now." he cheerfully symphatized, filling Murdocks heart with joy. "But more importantly...!" the professor paused for a moment to look at his friend. "Welcome to your new home." Friede added with the most genuine smile. Murdocks eyes widened "My...new..home?" that honstely sounded wonderful. His heart was dancing of joy right now. "Thanks for having me." Murdock replied smiling brightly.
Seems like he found a new Horizon.

Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Main plot: Friede, Murdock, Rockruff / Side plot: Diana, Liko, Roy, Mollie (Very minor part)
Summary:
Murdock getting sick, but doesn't want to be a burden, so he tries to hide it. When everyone else finds out they get worried, resulting in Murdock having a panic attack, but Friede and Rockruff help him through it <3
----------------------------------------
Like every morning, Murdock wakes up at 5am so he can prepare breakfast. He doesn't mind getting up that early day by day if it means he will once again be blessed with the brightest smiles of everyone happily eating a good meal. What more could he ask for? However today he felt a bit more tired than usual and his body felt heavier "Am i getting old or what?" the cook jokingly asked himself trying to put those feelings and thought aside and focusing at the task beforehand. Murdock now went to the bathroom to do his morning routine and dressing up. He doesn't wear the most fancy clothes, but he still thinks a neat appearance is important. Concentrated and skilled he perfectly tied his deep red neckerchief in no time. One last glance into the mirror and he is ready to go...at least he thought he was until he noticed the dark circles under his eyes "I look like I haven't slept in days..." the chef goes a little closer to the mirror to have a better view about this whole situation and then let out a annoyed sigh. "Can't be helped...sure hope no one gonna see them" Right at this moment Rockruff rubbed it's head against the cooks leg to say good morning, still half asleep, trying to softly bark but failing and yawning instead. Murdock couldn't help but chuckle at this cute sight. He promptly went to scoop up the little puppy, gently petting its head "You know you don't have to get up with me" that ironic question earned the chef only another yawn. Knowing Rockruff wouldn't stay in bed even if he tugged the puppy back into it, he decided to grab Rockruffs favourite pillow and take it with them. Murdock silently opend the kitchen door and walked directly to the small stool, put the pillow on top of it and then gently layed Rockruff down on it, who gladly took the chance to make itself comfortable and with another yawn the little puppy curled up into a ball of fluff and doozed of again. The cook snagged a quick photo of this adorable sight. Pleased with the result Murdock put away his phone and then finally started what he was coming here for in the first place. He already knew what to prepare, because yesterday Roy convinced everyone to have pancakes today. Murdock agreed excited, already thinking about what toppings would be fitting. To satisfy the taste of everyone he decided to make different toppings, while also offering the tradional one with just a knob of butter and syrup. Berries came to his mind at first, they can be sweet, spicy or sour, making them perfect to suit everyone's taste. Knowing certain people would love something more hearty, he also added fried bacon on his To-Do-List. Now having everything figured out he wasted no time to make the pancake batter, humming a little tune. Some time passed and the kitchen was now filled with the scent of freshly made pancakes, mixed with freshly fried bacon. When Murdock was about to make the last pancake, he suddenly felt dizzy and his vision went blurry. Shortly after the smell of a slightly burnt pancake pulled him out of this state and he hastely took the pan of the stove. Luckily the pancake was still good to eat so the cook added it to the already existing stack and heaved out a relived sigh to clear his mind "Pweh that almost went wrong..." He closed his eyes inhaling deeply serveral times. His hands resting on the kitchen counter, supporting his weight. "Calm down and pull yourself together or you gonna make everyone worry..." Murdock then softly slapped his own face with both hands "YOSH!! Let's go! Everyone surley already waiting to get their stomaches filled" With that out of the way he proceeded to set up the dining table and with a joyully "BREAKFAST IS READY!" everyone was gathered around it in no time.
While Murodock was filling up the plates of everyone witha delicious pancake, Friede eyed his friend preciesly, feeling something was off. Immediatly noticing the dark circles underneath the cooks eyes. He knew Murdock well enough to know it would be a bad idea to ask him what's wrong in front of everyone so he decided it's best to wait until he can talk to him in private.
After a "Bon Appetit!" everyone started to stuff their faces, except Diana. Liko noticing her grandma not touching the food. "Are you feeling unwell?" she asked worried. Diana shaking her head "No I'm fine!" she replied to her granddaughter with a smile, what vanished promptly when she continued to speak "But I think someone else should be in bed rather than staying in the kitchen." After a short pause everyone now were staring at Murdock. Who, to his misfortune didn't realized that at first and kept eaiting, looking unfocused and absent-minding did just reinforce Dianas statement. The unusual and aprupt silence snapped the brown-haired man back from his thoughts and he nervously looked at everyone "I..is something wrong...?!" he truly had no idea why everyone was staring at him like that...Oh no did he fuck up the pancakes after all? Was the first thing that come to his mind "Is...is something wrong with the food or...?" but everyone kept silently staring and that made him so unbelieveable uncomfortable that he felt the urge to just leave the room.
"Are you okay?" Friede finally asks breaking the silence. Looking at Murdock with a soft but worried face. "Huh? Why are you asking?" Murdock countered with a question, like he had to defend himself. "You weren't responding to us until a minute ago" the professor didn't liked to pressure his best friend like that, but he thought it's best if he is the one asking further, after Diana already brought this up. The cook now starts to sweat a little and his heart beating a bit faster. "Well I'm....just a little bit under the weather I guess Ahaha" He awkwardly was rubbing the back of his head. "You should really rest if you arent feeling well" Liko said with a worried look on her face. "Liko is right! My grandpa always got mad at me when I didn't stayed in bed when I was sick" Roy agreed. Murdock started to sllightly panic now, his pulse rising, his breath getting unsteady. "I can't enjoy the delicious food you prepared without feeling guilty, knowing you made it while feeling unwell" Diana then added. Friede noticed that this was to much for Murdock, but before he could say anything, the cook suddenly stood up, not daring to look at anyone "S...Sorry I didn't want to worry you all, but I'm fine...it's probably just a mild cold thats all..." He then wanted to grab Rockruff to hug it, but the little puppy had other plans, instantly barking at him and biting his right hand pretty hard.
Everyone was shocked. Murdock got caught so off-guard that he fell backwards and landed on the floor, now sitting on his butt while holding the hand that just got bitten. He now fully started to panic. He tried to steadily breath in and out but to no avail, he was slighty hypervetilating instead, the blood pressure getting so strong that his vison and every sound was dimmed. He noticed Friede was talking to him, looking very worried, but he couldn't hear a word. The chef felt like drowning right now...He need to get out of here immediatly "S....So...Sorry I didn't wanted to cause you any trouble..I'm fine...I...just need some sleep so please excuse me" He avoids eye-contact and stood up so fast that he got dizzy, almost tripped, but still managed to leave the room on wonky feet. It all happend so fast that everyone else just stared at the closed door. Rockruff tried to run after his dad, but wasn't fast enough so it now stood before the closed door scratching at it desperately, pleading to get out. Friede promptly picked up the Puppy "You feel sorry biting him right?" He asked while gently petting its head to calm it down. A whimpering bark said it all and also the sad expression on its face. "He knows you didn't meant it...You just wanted him to rest, didn't you?" Rockruff sadly nodded. Liko and Roy then simultaneously ask "Did we say something wrong?! Is he now mad at us?" Friede looked at both kids. They had teary eyes and most likely felt guilty so he beamed a soft smile at them "Don't worry he absolutely isn't mad at you two or anyone else" his expression changed, now looking concerned "The only one he is mad at is himself" "Hmm? Why would he be mad at himself"' Roy is confused and so was Liko. Friede heaved out a sigh, thinking about how to best describe it shortly "It's a long story, but he easily feels like a burden if he can't be of service and it gets even worse when he realized that he made others worry about him" The professor paused for a second making a thinking face "Well it's complicated...but to make it short, he had to take care of his little sister like an adult while still being a child himself. Not being allowed to act like a child and having to deal with responsibilities not being appropriate for the age, traumatized him to the point that he is still is struggeling with it to this point. I gonna explain this more in detail at another time" the kids just nodded, still being worried "Ruff..." the Puppy let out sadly "Now excuse me I need to deliver his fave emotional support puppy to him"
"He most likely is having a panic attack right now, so try to calm him down, try to talk to him without pressuring him, just being by his side is already helping" the nurse instructed and Friede nodded in response "I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that in front of everyone, but I thought it was necessary" Diana apologized. Friede softly smiled at her "It's okay, you coudn't know that this would be hard for him" The white-haired man than stared at the food and added "But I'm sure Murdock would be really sad if all this food would go to waste, so please continue eating" with a rather said smile he left the room and shorty after you could heard some running footsteps fading in the distance. Murdock somehow made it to his room, closing the door behind him he now was leaning against it. He felt lightheaded, his heart still racing, his mouth was completely dry and his chest hurted with every breath he tried to take in. Making his muscles tensing up even further. He manage to walk to his bed and then let himself fall to the floor, resting his back against it while gripping his chest tightly, trying to ease the pain. He felt so overwhelmingly anxious, the inabilty to breath properly made him hyperventilating, sweat poured down his face. He started to shiver and tremble more with every second that was passing. He didn't realized when he began to cry, he just wanted this terrible feeling to go away...Why can't he take in a breath without it feeling like his chest is burning up? He now sat there hugging his legs so hard that his hands started to feel numb. He was scared, the tears won't stop, the pain won't stop PLEASE JUST MAKE IT STOP he silently pleaded, his whole body trembling. Suddenly a warm and gently hand was slightly squeezing his, making him tense up at fist. At the same time he felt something fluffy pressing against his chest. His vision was still blurry so he coulnd't tell who was comforting him, but knowing someone was there made him feel safer. He now was able to slow down his breathing, getting it steadier with every breath, the unbeareable pain in his chest finally vanished, for the most part at least. Severeal minutes past before he could lift his head to actually check who was holding his hand. He was met with a warm smile from Friede. "Can you hear me again now?" he softly asked. "Yes" Murdock answered slowly, still feeling dizzy and also very exhausted. It took him a moment to realize what just happend "I'm sorry...I...I didn't wanted to cause any trouble...I'm" he tried to apologize but got interupted by Friede "You are not a burden you know?" Murdock froze for a moment before he kept apologizing "But...I made everyone worry just because I couldn't admit to myself that I'm feeling unwell..." tears started to form in his eyes again. The next thing he knew was that Friede pulled him into his embrance, gently stroking the back of his head "Shhh...it's okay to get sick and need to rest. No one is gonna hate you for that or thinks you causing problems. We all just want you to take it easy and get well again." The cook couldn't hold back his tears and now was clinging to his best friend, heavely sobbing. Friede kept stroking the other mans head until Murdock seemed to have calmed down again. He then helped the bigger man to properly sit on his bed instead of the floor, who was now hugging Rockruff. The little puppy still felt bad about biting Murdock, so it kept licking his hand. But the cook was stopping it, petting Rockruffs head gently "I'm not mad at you. It was your way of telling me I should take care of myself, wasn't it?" the chef softly stated, getting licked at his face now as respond. "Stop that's tickling." Murdock let out a small chuckle before silently glaring at Friede several times until words finally left his mouth "Thank you." the cook hastely averted his gaze, still feeling a bit guilty
"I'm glad I could help you." a brightly smile formed on Friedes lips, motivating Murdock to smile himself, even if it came off a bit uncertain. "So now that that's done you probabaly should lay down and sleep." while the professor was saying this he already guided his friend to lay down and tugged him under the sheets. Rockruff also making itself comfortable right next to Murdocks chest. Friede lightly squeezed the other mans hand once more before getting ready to leave the room, but was stopped by a hand clasping his wrist. "P...please don't go" Friede could tell that Murdock sounded scared, no wonder after such an emotional dragging situation he went through. "Don't worry I will keep you company until you fell asleep." sitting down at the side of Murdocks bed, holding his hand again, feeling a soft squeeze in return. It didn't take long until he heared a soft snore. "He must have been really exhausted" Friede softly whispered to himself, while cherishing the now peaceful smile on Murdocks face.

Hey it’s me Owl. Yeah I’m still alive and I’m kinda wanna revive my Tumble blog and because I’m really into the new Pokemon Horozons Anime I think it’s a good start to share my very first fanfic <3 I ship Friede and Murdock because I really love there dynamic. In this fanfic they have an big argument with heavy miscommunication. It’s hurt/comfort and they kiss at the end <3
Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Friede, Murdock, Small part with Liko and Roy
Ships: FriedexMurdock also called Capncrunchshipping or Murfrieshipping
------
Murdock seems like he isn't good at Pokemon battles. Yeah he did watch Likos and Roys Trainings Battle against Captain Pikachu, but I think he doesn't enjoyi doing battles himself. Because when we saw him fight for the first time he was kinda relieved that Roy took over the battle and went away with his hurt Rockruff. So I headcanon that he might feel weak and useless when it comes to protect everyone he loves. So with the Liko situation right now I think he will blame himself so much that Spinel could manage to lure Liko away in his name. But he won't tell anyone about his feelings and that were things are starting.
Friede noticed that Murdock cut himself off a bit from the others, but especially the kids and him so he tries to confront him and goes into the kitchen were he mostly always finds him. Murdock is indeed there peparing the dinner, but he doesn't seem as focused as usual, because he almost cut himself with the knife when Friede started to talk to him
F: „I knew I would find you here“ he said to him while smiling softly
Murdock was so deep in his thoughts that he jumped a little and almost dropped the knife „H..hey Friede what brings you here?“ while putting on a nervouse smile
Friede wastes no time and comes to the point directly „What is bothering you?“ putting on a serious but concerned face
Murdock of course just shakes his head and says he's fine, trying to change the subject asking him what he wants for dinner but Friede didn't fell for that so he asked him again „Don't lie to me! I know somethings wrong! You stopped spending time with the kids and you barley can focus cooking so what is it!?“
M: „I..I'm fine I just thought they might get annoyed when I'm around to much t..that's all!“ it's just a half of a lie because he really thinks having him around might bring them into danger
Friede of course isn't satisfied with the answer the bigger man gave him so he continued „And why aren't you talking to me? Something clearly is bothering you and...“ in that moment Murdock just snapped and screamed at him „I SAID I'M FINE SO LEAVE ME ALONE!!“ Murdock startled himself with his loud voice and was shocked what he just said, regretting every single word in an instant. So he hastely looked into Friedes direction and like he feared he saw a very irriated and concerened face. Friede himself was seemigly shocked and surprised, because the last time Murdock snapped at him like that was when they were kids. F: „Sorry that I got worried about you. If you want me to leave you alone I will gladly do that, but I thought we are friends and trust each other...maybe I was wrong“ he said that in just a calm but angry and dissapointed voice that it made Murdock shudder and regret even more what he just did...But before he could apologize and say something Friede was already gone. „Nice Murdock....you just runied everything...I'm so stupid...why I'm so stupid“ and starts crying The Dinner was awkward because everyone could feel somethings wrong. Friede and Murdock didn't talked to looked at each other even once.
Later at night in Murdocks room:
He just rolls over and over and can't seem to sleep. I mean how could he after he surley just runied his friendship and his relationship with the man he loved so damn much that it hurts. „Why didn't I just tell him I feel weak...I'm so stupid...no wonder he hates me now...I didn't deserve him anyway...he will be better of without me...b...but I love him so much...“ At this point he was just hugging his pillow very tight and bawled his eyes out repeating the words „I'm so stupid“ and „I'm so sorry“ over and over again, because he didn't know what to do and believed Friede never wanna talk to him ever again
The same night in Friedes room:
He also can't sleep. To many thoughts going through his head...why did Murdock snap at him? What is bothering him that much that he even can't tell him? His best friend, his lover...he wants to try and ask him again but he doesn't want to pressure him either. „I shouldn't have said that to him...I pressured him to much so him snapping at me was just a normal reaction...i didn't wanted to hurt him with my words....ARRGHH WHAT DO I DO NOW!!?? I can't just go to him like nothing happened and ask him again after saying I leave him alone!!“ He grabbed his pillow and smacked it to the other side of the room and let himself fall down on his bed with a big and long sight „I better wait a few days and then gonna ask him again“
The next morning:
Friede couldn't sleep of course so he kinda looked more tired then usual but he hopes no one notices it. When he went to the breakfast table he just saw Murdocks face for a split second because said man vanished back into the kitchen as soon as he spotted him, just like he wanted to avoide that Friede saw him like that. But he saw...he saw his tired face...he saw his puff and swollen eyes...He was clearly crying the whole night and it was his fault...He felt so sick in his stomach that he barley could eat anything, but he did eat, because he doesn't want to upset Murdock even more than he already had. I mean how does it come off when he didn't ate his delicious meal after their argument?
This whole mess goes one for the next 3 days. Friede managed to take a few naps during these days, but Murdock....he looked like a mess to the point even the kids asked him if somethings wrong, but of course he didn't wanted to worry them and put a fake smile on his face ensuring them he is fine and couldn't just sleep well. Liko and Roy still had a worried look on there faces, but let it be for the moment.
Friede on the other hand couldn't take it anymore. He can't longer just watch and look how the love of his life is suffering and hurting himself, because he clearly haven't slept a single minute the past 3 days and that shows...not only on his face but his hands...especially his left hand was covered in bandages, probably from cutting himself because he couldn't focus while cooking....and that never happens...
That's it! He has to clear things up and apologize for what he said, because he didn't meant it like that. So he went to the kitchen and just the moment he walked in Murdock accidentally cut his left thumb again letting out a soft but frustrated „Ouch...Shit not again“ Without any hesitation the white haired man rushed over and grabbed Murdocks left hand so he can look how bad the cut was. „Let me patch this up for you“ His body just simply moved on his own when he saw Murdcock was bleeding. Murdock was dead silent for a short time, because Friede popping out of nowhere startled the shit out of him.
But instead of letting Friede tend to his wound he just hastly pulled his hand away and turned his back to Friede „I..It's okay...y..you don't have to force yourself to talk to me..I mean it's just natural that you hate me now..but i deserve that...i couldn't even tell you what bothered me so..I'm sorry for being such a terrible friend...i won't bother you anymore I'm sure it's better that way and...“ He said that in such a gently but trembling voice that it was clear that he was at the verge of crying
Suddenly it made click for Friede and he felt even sicker than he already have. DID HE REALLY THINK I HATE HIM THE WHOLE PAST 3 DAYS!!? No no no no that's not what he wanted...that's not what he meant to make him feel... „MURDOCK STOP!! I'M SORRY!??“ He screamed in such a heartbreaking voice while grabbing Murdocks hands, turning the other man over so he can look right into his face. Murdock of course was just staring at him with such a confused face and teary eyes.
„I'm so sorry Murdock! What I said to you was not okay, becaue I didn't meant it...I was just so frustrated that I couldn't tell what was bothering you so I let all that frustration out on you and i'm so sorry...You haven't slept the past 3 days right? And you probably cried a lot and i just watched and didn't come back to you earlier...“ *he took a deep breath* „Because I didn't wanted to pressure you...I thought it's better I give you some space, but at the end I even fucked up more making you believe I hate you when I'm not and...“
Before he could even talk more he heard Murdocks soft voice asking „Y..you don't hate me!?“ he looked at him with his wide brown beautiful eyes like he couldn't believe that so Friede cups Murdocks face between his hands and with the sweetst smile and teary eyes he said „I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART AND NOTHING WILL EVER CHANGE THAT“ At this moment Murdock just couldn't hold back his tears and tried to talk but no words came out so Friede just pulled him into his arms and repeated „Yes I love you“ while gently rubbing over his back to calm the big man down.
After a few minutes Murdock still was a mess, still crying but he could manage to talk now so he tried to apologize as well. He grabbed Friedes hand and started talking „I'm also sorry for snapping at you..I didn't wanted to...I didn't want to worry you...I immadiatly regretted yelling at you, but I could bring myself to face you, because i thought i fucked up our whole friendship...oure relationship...“ And without a warning Murdock gently grabbed Friedes face and gave him a short but tender kiss but pulled away seconds after so he can continue talking „Your the love of my life and can't think of living without you. I LOVE YOU!!“
Now it was Friede pulling him into a passinate and tender kiss. They only pull away because they had to breath again at some point. After that they just sat there silenty for some time. Murdock watched while the white haired man patched up his cut thumb he almost forgot about „Thank you“ he said while smiling at Friede and this time it was a geniune smile again so Friede happily smiled back at him saying „Everytime“
The brown-grey haird man then started nervoulsy fidgeting with his fingers „Ehm..the you know the thing I didn't wanted to tell...what's bothering me right now...it's just I'm...“ He felt a gently hand pressing on his shoulder encouraging him to continue „The truth is...when we got attacked by the explorers on Roys home island, or when they tried to hurt Liko luring her away with a fake shop message for that spice I told her I would love to have...I couldn't protect them... I failed them..I'm the adult I should be strong and fearless...BUT...“
He lowers his voice in an instant after realizing he started to get louder again, looking at Friede to get sure he didn't startled him, but to his surprise he was met with a soft smiled at him so he continued, still fidgeting with his fingers „..but I was just useless...someone as weak as me can't protect them so I thought these two might be safer when I'm not around...and to answer your question why I couldn't tell you...“ he paused for a few seconds before continuing takeing a few deep breath so his voive would stop being so shaky „ I felt to embarressed admiting that I'm so weak. And I also was frustrated at myself and yeah that's literally it“ He awkwardly scratched the back of his head and tried to not look into Friedes eyes.
The smaller man just sat back and let out a reliefed smile „So that's what was bothering you...“ He took a deep breath before continue talking because he wanted to say it propperly. He took Murdocks hands so that he looks at him „Your definately not weak. You hate violence and don't enjoy pokemon battles, because you can't bear seeing others getting hurt and that's totally valid. Be strong doesn't mean strengh only, I mean you could just punch someone unconcious with your fist, but that's not the point“
That got a small giggle out of his lovers mouth and he continued „You are the strongest person I know. Even though you shy and all you still keep going every day, always doing your best, caring about everyone so much, so what I'm trying to say it that your are far away from being weak okay?“ With finishing his hopefully engouraging speech he winked with his eyes in Murdocks direction. The bigger man just let out a heartful laugh while giving him the beautifullest smile he has ever seen „Thank you Friede for everything“
That night the decided to stay together in one room and finally could get some well needed sleep while hugging each other tightf

I really start to to enjoy writing a lot so here is another short fanfic I wrote with a little Friede x Murdock spice this time. Friede wanna eat some "Dessert"
Series: Pokemon Horizons
Characters: Friede, Murdock, Mollie at the end
Ships: FriedexMurdock also called Capncrunchshipping or Murfrieshipping
------
Dessert
It was a rather normal and boring day on the Brave Asagi, But that’s nothing bad, especially after all these stressful events they really needed a breather. So that peaceful day is more than welcome. Friede made himself comfortable on the battlefield, laying on his back staring into the sky. He loved watching the clouds. But he is getting a little stiff so he sits up and stretches his arms, letting out a loud yawn! „Hmmm what Murdock might be doing right now?“ he let out a little giggle „He is probably in the kitchen like always“ After a short moment of silence he decides to stand up and slowly makes his way to the kitchen searching for some 'Fun'.
His nose was met with a pleasant scent as soon as he entered the kitchen „That smells delicious“ he said with a smile. Murdock immediately turned around to look at the white haired man „Oh it’s you Friede! I’m just preparing everything for dinner later.“ The brown haired man explained while starting to focus on the task before him again but before he could continue he felt two hands making their way under his apron slowly sliding down to his crotch making him shudder. That caught Murdock so off-guard that he had to put his arms on the kitchen counter to support himself, leaning over, his face almost touching the wood, trying to not freak out! The smaller man was actually hugging him from behind, having him fully in his grip and continued to touch Murdocks manhood very delicate through the cloth of his pants, but enough to get a soft pant out of the cook
„I…I‘m trying to cook here you know!!“ Murdock tried to protest. „And I’m trying to get some dessert!“ Friede said with a big grin on his face. But that only confused Murdock „If you wanna eat dessert so bad then feel free and get your share from the fridge. I already prepared some short cake earlier“ but that only earned him a judging look. Murdock had no idea what that look on the smaller man’s face supposed to tell him and before he could fall deeper into his thoughts Friede managed to strip him off his apron! „W..What are you doing!! Didn’t you came here for some dessert?!? I already told you that….“ Murdock was totally flabbergasted and couldn't even end his sentence, because Friede totally unfazed just continued and now tried to unbutton his shirt and at that moment realization hit him like thunder! His head turned red in a instant, rivaling the color of a tomato „W..Wh..When did I became your dessert!?!“
Seemingly amused Friede continued with the buttons „Took you long enough I thought you will never get it“ „S..STOP IT! What if someone comes in?!?“ „Instead of worriyng about that you could be a little more cooperative and help me out you know?!“ the yellow eyed man said while still trying to unbutton the bigger man’s shirt, seemingly struggling, because Murdock keeps moving like crazy trying to shove him off. „THATS NOT THE POINT!!!?“ The brown haird man protested.
In just this moment Mollie entered the kitchen „Oi Murdock you said you made some short cake earlier. The kids would love to eat some if it’s O…kay…?!“ The pink haired woman spotted the two man frozen in time looking at her with wide eyes. Murdock was leaning against the wall with his back while sitting on the floor, with Friede resting on his lap and tugging on his shirt.
No one of these two dared to move a muscle hoping she would just go without asking questions. But she just stood their staring at them with the biggest WTF?!? Face so after a painfully long minute Friede broke the silence „The dessert is in the fridge“ still hoping she would just grab the cake and go „FRIEDE“ a totally embarrassed Murdock screamed not believing the shorter man thinking about to continue like that. But before they could even argue about that Mollie shouting at them „GET A ROOM“
-----
Made these two rough sketches for the end <3

I did write in the summary that Murdock is having a panic attack in here, but just in case I wanna put a discaimer too. If you get triggered easily from wittnessing someone having a panic attack you shouldn't read it. I deal with panic attack fairly often, so I desribed his very detailed. Okay that's all <3
Series: Pokemon Horizons
