भारत और पाकिस्तान की बड़ी नदियों में शामिल चिनाब नदी हिमाचल प्रदेश के ऊंचे पहाड़ों से निकलती है. लाहौल और कश्मीर के रास्ते गुजरते हुए यह पाकिस्तान के मैदानों तक पहुंचती है. हिमाचल में इसे चंद्रा और भागा नदियों के संगम के कारण चंद्रभागा कहा जाता है. जैसे ही यह जम्मू-कश्मीर में पहुंचती है, इसका नाम चिनाब हो जाता है और पाकिस्तान में इसे लोग चनाब कहते हैं. हर जगह इसका नाम अलग क्यों है? क्योंकि ये नाम उस इलाके की भाषा, संस्कृति और लोगों की बोली के हिसाब से बदलते हैं. अब चलिए, जानते हैं इन नामों के पीछे का मतलब – ताकि अगली बार जब आप ‘चिनाब’ का नाम सुनें, तो उसके बहते पानी के साथ बहती संस्कृति और इतिहास की भी एक तस्वीर आपके सामने हो.
