I will take the teeniest of excuses to post these because I love them so much 🩵

Chris is a gem and caught the glare on the first one, so we actually held hands twice. I know, how horrible, poor me 😩

This is the one I nearly cried about because I was so happy with it! I do not like the majority of pics of myself so being so happy about this one in particular is nice. This was one of the first cons without plexiglass in the ops and there was technically a “don’t touch the fancy people” rule, but then things were left up to actor discretion anyway. I asked him if he was okay with me hugging on him (obvs I would’ve asked even if there wasn’t a pandemic) and he gave me the cutest, “Yeah! Of course!”

Then! He was also super cute signing for me (again) and took time to carefully draw his Anarky A while basically talking me through an anxiety attack.

There was also the m&g in there which other than him teasing me, I won’t mention anything since that’s usually a rule with those. Our selfie again, tho, because we’re cute! It’s sweet he takes time to take selfies with everyone at his m&gs. 💛

…and perhaps when he was signing for Gold on Saturday night, I nearly hit the ceiling because he decided it would be cool to sing-song my name at me without me possibly being able to prepare for it. So that’s a thing that actually happened and I didn’t somehow hallucinate.

Suptober 2022, Day 1: Maze/Maize

One day, Gabriel realized the lock on his cage was open. So he ran. It was risky, he knew that. Demons were guarding the halls and at every corner Asmodeus could appear. But he had to take this chance.

Soon, he knew this was just a torture. Hallways twisted and turned, went on forever just to have Gabriel return to where he started. The empty halls that led nowhere were a maze that just ended up at madness.

At the end of Casa Erotica 13, there's a special feature built in just for Sam. It was easy for Gabriel to add a touch of his grace to the DVD, just enough to make it seem real. So on the days when Sam can't take it anymore, when his angels death makes him want to quit, he let's it play on, waiting to feel the static touch of his lover, no matter if it's real or not.

OK STORY TIME gather round kids to hear the tale of me and Jensen at autos

So I made this Radio Company art poster, which I’m stupid proud of. Also I brought a six pack of Spotted Cow (local beer from my home state of Wisconsin) because Jensen the brewery owner deserves to know what a good Wisconsin local brew tastes like. (I was lugging that beer around in my backpack all fucking day like a pack mule)

So I get up to the front of the line and give the poster to his handler. She slides it across the table to him and he stops to take a long look at it. Then starts smiling. “This is really cool!” he said.

“Thanks!” I said. “I made it.”

“You did?” Then he pulled out his phone. “Can I take a picture of this?”

“Well,” I said, “I have a copy of it, if you’d like.”

Jensen blinked and went “Oh! Well. That’s even better!” He took the copy and gave it to his handler.

“I also have beer,” I said, and set the six pack on the table. “If you want that.”

And Jensen just got this gleeful glint in his eye. “Oh, no,” he said, totally deadpan, while pulling it towards himself, “I couldn’t possibly accept beer. No, no, I hate that stuff.”

My favorite part was when the handler asked me, “do you want him to just take one bottle?”

I just laughed and said “no you can have the whole thing if you want. Share it with whoever.”

So they seemed excited about that. Jensen asked where it was from and I explained it’s a local place in Wisconsin (New Glarus Brewing Company for those interested.)

I said that I’m not a big beer person, to which he responded “yeah I’m not either” 😆 Such a liar.

Anyway that’s my Jensen auto story and I gotta say, even though I’m not a big beer drinker, I’d absolutely sit down and have one with that guy.

I just told my ENGL 1120 students why I’m traveling to Chicago this week (Worldcon, being a panelist, repping Strange Horizons at the Hugo Awards because I’ve been one of the poetry editors there for a decade), which led to a student asking what SH is and what the Hugos are. I told them exactly how many years we’ve been finalists and how we have never yet won, and one of my students blurted, “Oh! You’re the Leo DiCaprio in your category!” RUDE, but also? I feel so seen 🤣

I finally, finally got to meet Connie Willis face to face and have her sign my Doomsday Book. I was carrying around my last couple books of my own with me, copies of The Sting of It. She asked me to sign one for her, and I was over the moon to give it to her. I just. I’m so happy. She’s my writing hero.
