Good Afternoon Dears, In fact ,by blocking a mere discussion on the pandemic at the UN security Council while it served as its president in March,China underlined its guilt. If India had unleased this pandemic through a coverup,China would have been in the lead to hold a Security Council discussion and to inflict punishment with UN sanctions. But,as underscored by Chinese state councilor and foreign minister Wang Yi's telephone call, it sought India's help to ward of international censure. Transparency is essential to make us all .One country's authoritarianism and opacity have contributed to spiraling Coronavirus infections and deaths, mammoth economic losses, and mounting social and psychological toll across the world. The pandemic has also dented the world Health Organization's credibility. Instead of providing global health leadership, the WHO under Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has become part of the problem by putting politics ahead of public health.Indeed,by disseminating China's flase narrative and dubious figures, the WHO lulled other nations thereby delaying national response by multiple weeks. Tedros, who uses his first name, was accused of covering up three cholera epidemics while serving as his country's health minister. But who could have imagined that,as the WHO chief,he would do something even worse_ lend helping hand to COVID _19 dual coverup? Nothing better illustrates wHO's credibility problem than the Japanese Deputy Prime Minister Taro Aso's statement that many people worry that the agency's acronym many need to change from WHO to "CHO"( Chinese Health Organization). US president Donald Trump's decision to halt US funding, which makes up nearly 10% of the WHO's$6billion annual budget,Puts pressure on the agency to clean up its act .To restore its credibility, the WHO needs fresh leadership that can independently coordinate international health policy.including by reversing the Tedros_initiated politicisation of globel health. Negrenses urged to take measures vs. new coronavirus
#PHnews: Negrenses urged to take measures vs. new coronavirus
BACOLOD CITY -- Residents of Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, have been urged to exercise precautions against the novel coronavirus or 2019-nCoV.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Thursday provincial health officer, Dr. Ernell Tumimbang has notified all the district hospitals to be aware of the developments.
“For now, we don’t have a suspected patient (in the province) but just the same, we should be alert,” the governor said.
Lacson also ordered Tumimbang to “just to make sure that we are ready to address the situation” if ever something will happen.
“(Dr. Tumimbang) explained that we already have a system. If there will be a confirmed case, the patient will be moved to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (in Bacolod City),” he said.
DOH, in an advisory, said coronavirus is from a family of viruses that cause various diseases characterized by cough and colds leading to serious infections, pneumonia, acute respiratory syndrome, kidney problems, and even death.
In Bacolod, Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the City Health Office (CHO) follows a standard operating procedure in implementing preventive measures, which should now be intensified and made more aggressive.
Dr. Ma. Carmela Gensoli, city health officer, said there is no case in Bacolod but advised those who have symptoms and have been recently to China and other affected areas to immediately seek medical attention.
“If you know anyone who (came from China), please stay away (from that person). We can also advise that person to isolate (himself or herself), just stay at home. Once he or she seeks medical attention, the patient should immediately advise the doctor that he or she came from China or any other affected area,” Gensoli said in a press conference at the Bacolod Government Center.
“If you have cough or colds avoid going to public places. Build your immune system. Maintain good personal hygiene,” the CHO chief added.
Ben Arnel dela Cruz, development management officer of DOH-6, said they have met with local personnel of the Bureau of Quarantine to strengthen surveillance of cases.
He said, however, that residents of the city should not be alarmed since there is no reported coronavirus case in Bacolod.
On Wednesday, the City Council passed a resolution enjoining the City Health Office and the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office to take the necessary assessment and precaution.
The resolution, authored by Councilor Cindy Rojas, stated there is a need for such action after reports of the suspected presence of coronavirus case in Cebu City.
On Thursday, officials of DOH-Central Visayas said the discovery of the coronavirus strain on a five-year-old Chinese boy from Wuhan, China should not cause panic.
The boy “is currently stable and has no more fever, cough and other symptoms associated to nCoV” discovered in Wuhan in the Chinese Province of Hubei.
A total of 830 cases have now been reported to the World Health Organization, including 26 deaths. Most of the deaths and patients have been reported in China, with other cases reported in Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam. (PNA)

The Latest: Japan mum on prospects for summit with N. Korea
PAJU, South Korea /March 20, 2018 (AP)(STL.News) — The Latest on North Korean diplomacy (all times local):
5 p.m.
Japan’s government spokesman says his country has been in touch with North Korea, but refuses to say whether a possible meeting between their leaders is being discussed.
Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, responding to a question Thursday about reports of such talks, said Japan has all along communicated with North Korea via multiple channels. Suga declined to say if a meeting between Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is being discussed.
The Asahi newspaper reported Thursday that Kim’s administration has mentioned a possible summit with Abe in June following one with U.S. President Donald Trump.
Suga welcomed plans for an April 27 meeting between the leaders of the two Koreas as a sign of progress resulting from international pressure on North Korea.
___
4:05 p.m.
A senior South Korean official says the summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in will be shaped by discussions on denuclearizing the Korean Peninsula.
Seoul’s Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon said officials from both Koreas exchanged opinions on the agendas of the summit but Cho didn’t provide a clear answer on whether Thursday’s discussions included the nuclear issue.
Cho says both sides will continue working-level discussions while focusing on the issues surrounding the “denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, the stabilization of peace and the development relations between the South and North.”
When asked whether such issues would shape the discussions between Kim and Moon, Cho said “yes.”
North Korean official Ri Son Gwon after the meeting hailed the agreement over the summit he said provides “immense expectations and new hope for the entire nation that desires for peace on the Korean Peninsula.” He called for officials from both countries to do their best to “perfectly secure the historic meeting between the leaders.”
___
2:40 p.m.
South Korean officials say North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will meet South Korean President Moon Jae-in at a border village on April 27.
The third summit ever between the Koreas could prove significant in the global diplomatic push to resolve the standoff over the North’s nuclear program.
The announcement was made after a high-level meeting Thursday between the countries at the border village of Panmunjom. Few other details were released.
The Koreas will hold another preparatory meeting April 4 to discuss protocol, security and media coverage issues.
The current talks follow a surprise meeting this week between Kim and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Kim may also meet with President Donald Trump.

South Korea’s presidential office says a Chinese official is heading to Seoul to brief President Moon Jae-in about the summit this week between North Korea’s and China’s leaders.
The two-day trip by Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi follows talks earlier this week between Kim Jong Un and Xi Jinping.  Moon’s spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom in a statement on Thursday called it an encouraging sign that Kim expressed firm willingness for dialogue with South Korea and the United States during his visit to Beijing.
North Korea has yet to officially confirm its interest in a summit between Kim and President Donald Trump. The North’s official media omitted Kim’s reported comments opening dialogue with the United States that were carried in Chinese state media.
