What are you holding back from God?

As a reader I have always dreamt of living in some other world—one where good versus evil supplies an action-packed story of peril and forbidden love, one infinitely more interesting than our own. In comparison to a world like that, ours seems dull and lackluster. Devoid of the adventure so many of us crave. But recently I realized that we do live in a world like that. We live in a world where there is a constant battle between guilt and grace with souls hanging in the balance. We live in a world where the Creator of the universe created each of us as a special character in His story, every one serving an unique purpose only He knows because He is the Writer. We live in a world where a loving Father sacrificed His only Son for the love of His creations, undeserving in nature, so that we would not be separated from Him forever. We live in a world where that Son willingly gave Himself for us and conquered death. We live in a world where evil has been conquered thanks to the love of our God. Angels and demons swarm, good and evil fight for the sacred space of our souls. We live in a world where God has crafted the most beautiful story ever known, and we so often overlook it. We live in a world where Jesus has given us the privilege of continuing His work of making heaven crowded during His absence. God has created us to serve a purpose in the greatest story ever told, and we so often take it for granted. But unlike the stories we read that are not threaded by His hand, His is a story we can never close the book on. His is a story where the perils are real and the wages of sin is death. Today let’s realize that God has masterfully woven us into the greatest story ever told, and that as His messengers playing a sacred role in that story, we should take it seriously.

Dear friend, There is freedom in Christ. Freedom from the stress and worry of each day. Freedom from the guilt and shame of your past mistakes. Freedom from comparisons and trying to measure up to others. Freedom from self-doubt and the fear that you’re not enough. Whatever you’re holding onto- whatever is holding you down- there is FREEDOM from it in Jesus. All you have to do is reach out and take it.
What are you needing freedom from today? Let me pray with you ❤️

Despite the the Pandemic and spending 100% of my time at home. I continue to do what I love. Write, write , write. I can't thank God enough for the strength and courage I've developed over the years to tap into this side of my creativity. After much consideration and encouragement from many individuals. I have finally decided to write part 2 to Liberty's story. I will be going on a short retreat in a few months to get myself in writers mode, and to flesh out the ideas I have for book 2. Not sure what the title will be just yet. Any ideas for the title? Please let me know 😁. . . #authorscrave #authorexposure #authorslife #writewrite #workingonnewbook #writersretreat #book2 #thelampshadewriter #liberatingliberty #fromsuicidekit #marginwriter #buyyourbook #buyyourcopy #femaleprotagonist #christianteen #blackgirlstruggles #blackgirlmagic #teenconflicts #helpteens (at Toronto, Ontario) https://www.instagram.com/p/CO2tTTnrL8r/?igshid=2l89cr3hniii

My Brother’s Keeper
Tumblr media
Afterward the Lord asked Cain, “Where is your brother? Where is Abel?”
     “I don’t know,” Cain responded. “Am I my brother’s keeper?” -Genesis 4:9
Cain and Abel were sons of Adam and Eve who fell into sin and had a broken relationship with each other. As a result, their sons suffered the same fate: a broken relationship with each other. Cain became so angry with his brother which led God to question his anger towards Abel: ‘Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it’ (4:6–7).
Cain chose to let his anger get the best of him. His sin became his master which led to the ultimate killing of Abel. In verse 8, it was written that he killed his brother. God asked him a question: “Where is your brother Abel?” but instead of answering God, he immediately answered back with a question: “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
I really hated Cain and Abel’s story growing up- not because it was a horrible story, but because I couldn’t believe that Cain could actually kill his own brother! I grew up having an older sister, and I can’t really imagine that my sister could do such thing. This story made me completely upset.
What’s more upsetting is Cain’s answer when God asked him where was Abel: “Am I my brother’s keeper?”
It was a completely selfish and self-centered answer! It was as if Cain was saying, “Why should I care about him?”
Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us, “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”
We are completely accountable with one another! In a generation where we are completely caught up with our individual goals and needs, let us not forget that we are also accountable to the people around us. It is easy to get completely drowned with what’s happening in our personal lives, but it is also important to always speak blessing and encouragement to the people closest in our lives!
To answer Cain’s question, YES! We are our brother’s keeper! It is both a responsibility and privilege to be able to care for the people around us. Let us find ways on how we can speak life and blessing to others!
To add: Cain and Abel’s story may have ended on a very sad note, but God’s grace and mercy can still be seen throughout the story. We can still witness how God’s protection towered over Cain in the midst of his struggle. God did not let anyone touch and kill Cain. That was purely grace in action!

So best selling author of the Christian book “I kissed dating goodbye” has announced that he is no longer a Christian, he’s now divorced leaving three children behind and has made a documentary “I survived I kissed dating goodbye” about how his book affected people, I remember listening to Harris’ speech in the late 90’s on the “focus on the family” radio program, I loved his story and lessons on sexual integrity but I never followed his books or ministry after that. Every time I hear about a person who renounces Christianity, I get very interested in knowing why, did he discovered that Christianity is false? And if he did then what is this discovery? So far what I can gather is: that some people had their lives ruin by his best selling book therefore he walked away from Christianity. Joshua Harris has now apologized to the lgbt community from his biblical views on homosexuality and he told his followers not to mourn for him because he’s happy now. The basic take away from his best selling book is: not to date so carelessly and have casual sex because they are some heavy consequences that comes that, now if not having promiscuous sex is going to ruin your life then you need to reassess your moral foundation. One more thing, there’s no cookie cutter way of doing marriage successfully, marriage is the union of two personalities with two different biological characteristics and social understandings, that’s not an easy task, it takes a lot of commitment, compromise and forgiveness in order to move forward. #christianity #christianandnerdy #christiandating #ikisseddatinggoodbye #joshuaharris #christiandatingadvice #dating #christianteen #losingfaith https://www.instagram.com/p/B0iH_nsFwmb/?igshid=18e59yei7csii

Why is salvation also called "accepting Christ"?
Another way to think about “accepting Christ” is to think about someone standing at your front door, ringing your doorbell. Say you open the door and see what the person wants to give you, but you refuse to let them into your home to give it to you; that is rejecting the gift. Now, what if you open the door, see the person there, recognize them as someone who loves you, and you invite them into your home; that is accepting Christ.
