Memories From Half A Century Ago; The Cincinnati Tornadoes of April 1974
On the evening of April 3, 1974, your narrator interviewed a woman who found a perfectly new, pristinely crisp, twenty-dollar bill in her front yard. This random occurrence of good luck became newsworthy because her miraculous benefit had floated down into her yard from a passing cloud that had recently spawned an F5 tornado.
At the time, I was not a reporter exactly but everyone that evening became either a reporter or a source. The memory of that day remains so fresh and clear it seems impossible that it transpired exactly fifty years ago.
In the fading afternoon, a heavy storm blew in as I drove a clunky Ford Econoline van from the Hopple Street Viaduct onto Westwood-Northern Boulevard. I was, at that time, a senior at the University of Cincinnati desperately yearning to graduate and move on to the next chapter in my life. To cover tuition, I worked as a printer for the Western Hills Publishing Company. Our offices were on Davis Avenue in Cheviot and our printing presses occupied a floor in the historic Crosley Building on Arlington Street in Camp Washington. My duties as the junior member of the printing crew involved shuttling copy and page flats from the editorial offices to the typesetting and composing staff.
As I climbed out of the valley toward the English Woods housing development, hail scattered across the road. Hailstones rattled on the van’s roof, then pounded, then stomped. It sounded like some gremlin with a baseball bat hammering on the roof as ice balls the size of oranges smashed into the asphalt all around. Tree branches cracked and split and thatched the roadway.
Somehow, I made it to Cheviot and pulled into the Press parking lot. It was full of people, just standing around. I got out and looked at the van. The roof looked like a moonscape, there were so many dents in it.
“Hey! Look at this,” I shouted. No one turned or said a word. And then I saw why.
Stretching from the horizon halfway to zenith was the tornado. It was impossible to comprehend the scale. More than two miles away, we heard no sound except endless sirens calling to one another from every direction. Where we stood transfixed it did not rain. There was no wind. There was only the tornado.
“Look at all that paper swirling around,” someone said.
“Those are garage doors,” another answered.
We watched as the horrendous vision scraped its way northward, the finger of God plowing a furrow along South Road out in Mack. We watched as it withered and lifted and twisted into nothingness against a pallid sky, waving it seemed in farewell at last as it vanished. We stared at each other, silent, unable to find any words.
Gradually, we realized that all the lights were out. There was no power in the offices. The publisher sent me around the corner to a hardware store to buy all the candles they had in stock. It was going to be a long night.
At this point, for the benefit of readers younger than I, it is necessary to explain a few details. The cash register at the hardware store was mechanical. It did not require electricity, much less Wi-Fi, to operate. The editorial offices were stocked with manual typewriters. The telephones were landlines, on a separate network, and functioned even when the power was out. Everyone had a battery-powered radio.
Anyone with the ability to write a coherent sentence became a reporter. I was sent out, still wearing my printshop uniform, in the divotted Econoline, to gather eye-witness reports. I found a small crowd at the Western Hills Country Club who had been herded into a downstairs bar while the sirens howled. They queued up for every available telephone to check in with their families. I found people in shock, wandering through piles of rubble that had been their homes, clutching any random possessions they recovered. I saw ambulances backed up in a line, waiting for utility poles and power lines to be moved. I saw people wrapped in blankets, standing in the middle of nothing left, sobbing on each other’s shoulders.
There were people who swore they saw two funnel clouds and people who claimed there were four, twisting like snakes in the sky. There were people who confessed to being so transfixed by the surreal wonder of the twister that they stood paralyzed as it swooped down on their houses.
And, in the curious way the universe laughs at we mere humans, I found humor.
There was the guy who, in a dispute with his insurance company, was photographing damage to his roof when the warning sirens erupted. He saw the funnel approaching and dove into his basement. When he emerged, his roof was gone, and so was the rest of his house, but he bragged that he had the photos to press his prior claim.
I talked to one of the rescue workers who told me about a kid, maybe 15 or 16 years old, who approached him and begged him to hide a bottle of vodka. The kid didn’t want his mother to know he had the bottle hidden in his bedroom – the bedroom that was now nothing more than a debris field.
Meanwhile, at the University of Chicago, Dr. Theodore Fujita drafted a questionnaire to be sent to almost every newspaper, every radio station, every television station in the country. Dr. Fujita asked a lot of questions about the duration and intensity of the 148 confirmed tornadoes reported that day. He and Allen Pearson of the National Severe Storms Forecast Center hoped to refine the tornado classification system they had created just three years previously. Someone at the Press filled out the questionnaire and sent it back.
A year later, having graduated from the university and transferred to the newsroom, I found a largish cardboard tube lying amid the usual pile of news releases and complaint letters that constituted our daily mail. On opening the tube – it was addressed to no one in particular – I found a map of the eastern United States titled “Superoutbreak Tornadoes of April 3-4, 1974.” Dr. Fujita, compiling all those questionnaires, had mapped and labeled every one of those 148 tornadoes.
In the center of the map, there was my tornado, the only tornado I have seen with my own eyes, officially designated as an F5 monster.

Cities and towns across the Northeast USA are experiencing a rare June heat wave this week, with temperatures in the high 90s and humidity making it feel hotter. The heat index, which combines air temperature and relative humidity, is hovering at or above 100 degrees in cities like New York, Boston, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and even as far north as Maine. This heat wave is occurring just as several environmental, healthcare and labor groups have asked FEMA to declare extreme heat and wildfire smoke “major disasters” like tornadoes and floods.

——————————————————
November 2, 2022
You tossed and turned for the fifth time in the last twenty minutes. The heavy rain, light flashes of lightning and loud rumbles of thunder have kept you awake since the strong storm started a couple hours ago.
You tapped your phone, huffing out a sigh of annoyance when you saw the time: 4:13 am.
You pulled the comforter off of your body and got out of bed. You took your phone off it's charger and grabbed your soft white blanket before walking out of your room and into the kitchen.
You decided to make a cup of hot tea. Your mom would always make tea for you during a storm when you were younger because something about it helped calm you down. You never have been a fan of strong thunderstorms. You love rain and a little thunder here and there, but when frequent lightning, severe storm warnings and tornado watches are added into the mix, then you get nervous.
As you were getting the tea bag out of the container from the cupboard, the power flickered. You knew it was bound to happen soon, considering how strong of a storm it is. Once the power goes out completely though, any hopes of falling back to sleep any time soon will be gone.
The Keurig beeped, signaling that the tea was done. You grabbed a spoon from the drawer next to the dishwasher and as soon as you placed the end of the spoon into the coffee cup, the power went out. The apartment was now pitch black and completely silent. You felt around the counter for your phone, but you didn't feel anything. You sighed, realizing you left it on the chair in the living room with your blanket. You placed the coffee cup back down on the marble countertop, deciding to find your phone first before you tried to walk anywhere with the hot tea in your hands. You slowly walked out of the kitchen, careful not to-
WHACK.
You gasped at the sudden feeling of your body hitting another body. You let out a yelp, fearing the worst. This would be the perfect time for someone to break in and MURDER YOU!?!
You screamed as you felt a hand reach out and touch your arm.
"Y/n, hey! It's just me."
Your heart was pounding against your chest as you sighed in relief. It wasn't an intruder, just Joe.
"Thank god," you breathed out, placing your hand on your chest, "I thought you were some psycho that broke in."
He chuckled, "I might be a little crazy, but I wouldn't say i'm a psycho. But I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
You nodded, even though you knew he couldn't see you, "It's okay."
"What are you doing up right now?"
"I couldn't sleep. Storms like this have always made it impossible for me to sleep."
Just as you finished your sentence, a loud crack of thunder shook the apartment. You jumped under Joe's touch, causing him to grip your arm tightly, yet so gentle at the same time.
"Hey, you're OK," he said softly, "promise."
"I know, I've just always gotten a little scared over severe weather."
You heard Joe sigh as he removed his hand from your arm, "Well, I'm afraid this storm won't stop anytime soon. Did you try to get any sleep?"
You shrugged, "A little. I came out here to make some tea and sit on the couch for a bit until I could fall back asleep, but now that there's no power I don't think I'll be able to."
"Stay here for a second. Do you have your phone?"
"No, it's on the couch."
Joe's face lit up from the light of his phone screen. He turned the flashlight on causing your eyes to be drawn to his lit up body.
His dirty blonde hair was messy and his blue eyes looked tired. He didn't have a shirt on, just a pair of gray joggers. You looked away from him as he walked into the living room and grabbed your phone from the chair. He walked back into the kitchen and handed it to you.
"Here. Go sit in the living room. I'll be right back."
You turned on your flashlight, grabbing your tea from the counter and heading into the living room. A big flash of lightning lit up the apartment as you placed the mug down on a coaster and sat on the chair. You had just thrown the blanket over your legs when Joe walked back into the living room, holding onto a lantern, lots of candles, and a lighter.
He sat the lantern down on the table, along with the many candles.
"Where'd you get all those candles?" you asked.
Joe picked up the lighter, lighting each candle one by one.
"You want the real reason or?" he trailed off with a smirk.
"I knew it. Pre-game orgy right?"
Joe chuckled, "Damn, I guess you caught me. I'll have to tell Ja'Marr to cancel next weeks then."
You laughed at his response before taking a sip of your tea and asking him, "Okay but seriously, why do you have all these candles?"
Joe had a somber look on his face as he looked down at the candles. He sucked in a breath as he lit the last candle.
"Every year my ex-girlfriend and I would light these on our anniversary. It was tradition for us. One of us would come home and have some sort of romantic dinner set up for the other," he examined the candle as he continued speaking, a soft smile appeared on his face, "and we'd light these candles, put them out on the table or the bedroom." he put the candle back down, "was very romantic."
You frowned, feeling terrible for making him bring up his ex.
"I'm sorry Joe, I didn't mean to-."
He cut you off, "Don't be sorry, you didn't do anything wrong. You asked, I answered." He picked up the lantern that looked like it would be used for camping and turned it on. The light from the many candles and lantern made the living room light up with a soft yellow glow.
Joe placed the lantern down in the middle of coffee table and looked at you, "There, now I can see that beautiful fa- light."
You looked at Joe with raised eyebrows as he stood by the couch, rubbing the back of his neck. It almost sounded like he was going to say face and not light...but who knows, you’re probably just hearing things.
"Well, I think I'm going to try to get some sleep. Good night Y/n.”
He started to walk away, getting ready to walk into his bedroom when you called out to him.
"Joe?"
He stopped and turned around, "Yeah?"
"Stay? Please, I don't really want to be alone right now." you said softly as a blush made it's way onto my cheeks.
Joe slowly nodded and smiled softly at you.
"Okay. Let me grab a sweatshirt first."
He disappeared into his room and a few minutes later came back into the living room wearing his pink Nike sweatshirt and carrying a gray blanket. He plopped down on the couch and draped the blanket over his legs. As the two of you sat in silence for a few moments, the storm continued. The rain grew heavier and the thunder more frequent. Joe noticed you had started to get tense.
He cleared his throat, "You know, we've lived together for almost two months now and I feel like I don't know you."
It's true. You and Joe have been living together for a few months now, but neither of you have taken the chance to get to know the other. You weren't on good terms for a little while, but you think you both have started to warm up to each other. You have to get to know each other at some point if you’re going to live together for the next seven or eight months. Now would be the perfect time to do that.
"What do you wanna know?" you asked, tucking your legs up onto the chair.
He shrugged, "Tell me about yourself."
"Usually I'd start with my name, but you already know that," you smiled, making him chuckle softly, you continued, "I'm twenty five years old, I was born in Denver,Colorado. I grew up in Arizona though. I moved to Tucson when I was two. I lived there my whole life, went to college at the University of Arizona and graduated with a bachelors degree in fashion design. Um, I moved to Phoenix when I graduated and I worked for a fashion magazine for a few years. I took a lot of work trips, Cincinnati was one of them, and I fell in love with the city so that's how I got here.”
Joe nodded, "Nice. Do you miss Arizona?"
"Sometimes. All my family and friends live there, but I needed a change. There's better opportunities for me here in Cincinnati."
Joe just nodded. You decided to ask him the same question he asked you.
"Okay your turn, tell me about yourself."
He sighed and sat up on the couch, looking at you as he spoke, "I'm twenty five, I'm the quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals, I'm a Heisman trophy winner, a national champion,"
You smiled as he rattled off all of accomplishments. He had a lot to be proud of.
"Yeah, yeah I know all that stuff. Tell me something I wouldn't know."
He smiled, "Okay. Well, I was born in Iowa, but I moved to a small town in Ohio called Athens when I was a few years old. I grew up there and then when I graduated high school I went to Ohio State."
"Did you play football there?" you asked, genuinely curious since you only knew he played at LSU.
"I'm getting there, hold on."
You chuckled and let him continue.
"So while I was at Ohio State, I redshirted my Freshman year and was a backup during my Sophomore and Junior year."
You raised your eyebrows, "So you didn't play at all?"
"I mean I played, but not as much as I wanted to. I didn't want to be on the bench for my whole college football career, so I transferred to LSU after I graduated from OSU with my bachelor degree."
"Did you want to leave Ohio?"
He shrugged, "I mean I didn't want to leave, but I thought it was best for my career."
You nodded, showing him you understood. You thought the same thing when you left Arizona to come to Ohio.
"So I moved to Louisiana. Became starting quarterback for LSU and was working towards my Masters degree. Um, In the twenty nineteen, twenty twenty season, our team finished with a fifteen and 0 record and we beat Clemson in the National Championship. I graduated from LSU with a Masters in Liberal Arts and then I moved back home to Ohio, lived with my parents for a bit and then I got drafted by the Bengals."
You didn't know a lot of the stuff Joe was telling you, so it was very nice to here his story and get to him better.
"You've got a good story Joe."
He smiled, "Yeah. I wouldn't be where I am without the people who got me here though. My story may be pretty awesome, but I wouldn't be here without them. But," he stretched, causing his voice to be strained, "that's a story for another day."
He brought his arms down and changed positions on the couch so he was facing you. Both of you were wide awake now as the storm continued to rage on.
"Let's play twenty questions." Joe stated, "we go back and forth, they'll be simple. I'll go first."
"Okay, sounds good." you giggled, picking up your tea and taking a sip.
"Favorite color?"
"Y/F/C. You?"
"Ohhh, fancy." Joe teased, "I like orange."
You rolled your eyes.
"What?" Joe asked, a wide grin on his face.
"Orange, seriously? It's only because your teams color is orange isn't it?"
He laughed, "No, no. I've always liked the color orange."
You laughed, "Sure. Okay next question, um...other than football, what sports did you play in high school?"
"So I played football obviously, and I also played basketball."
"Ah," you nodded, "quite the athlete."
He chuckled, "Yeah. What about you?"
"I ran cross country my Junior year and played soccer all four years of high school. I didn't enjoy cross country, but I loved soccer."
"You play in college?" Joe asked.
You shook your head, "No, it was just something I did in high school."
"Yeah, that's how I felt about basketball." A smirk grew on his face as he spoke, "I got one. Do you have any tattoos or piercings?"
"I have three piercings, my ears and belly button. And one tattoo," you hesitated, "that is in a location that I won't name."
Joe smirked, "Oh?" his smirk dropped and eyes widened, "Do, do you have a tramp stamp?"
You let out a laugh and covered your mouth as your laughter continued. Joes smirk turned into a grin a the sound of your laugh. You composed yourself and shook your head, "No! Oh my god, I don't have a tramp stamp."
Joe cocked his head to the side, narrowing his eyes at you, “Then where is it?
You face turned red as you said, jokingly, "If you're lucky maybe you'll find out."
"I'll hold you to it," he winked.
You rolled your eyes as a small smile made its way onto your face. You were actually enjoying your time talking to Joe. It was nice to get your mind off the storm, plus, it was nice getting to know him.
You continued to play twenty questions for the next hour or so as the storm continued and the was power still out. You told Joe that your favorite movie is How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, your favorite takeout is bar food, and that you had a dog named Lola growing up. You learned that Joe likes cats more than dogs, he enjoys watching Game of Thrones, and that he secretly loves Taylor Swift.
You think playing this silly game has made you realize maybe Joe isn't so bad after all.
You think there's a chance you and Joe could be friends after tonight.
"You know," you said, a playful smirk on your face, "you're not as bad as I thought you were, Joe."
Joe chuckled, "I could say the same about you."
You smiled at him and pulled the blanket closer to your body as you snuggled further into the chair, leaning your head on your hand. You could feel your eyes starting to grow heavy, but you stayed awake for a little while longer.
"So Joe," you smirked, "you talk to Amelia lately?"
Joe shook his head as a smile pulled at his lips.
"No, I haven't spoken to her since our date."
"That's too bad."
He shrugged, "Eh, I knew it wasn't going to work out. It's not a huge deal."
You just nodded. He knows what he wants. That's good, I guess?
"You meet anyone special yet?" He asked, seeming like he was genuinely curious.
You smiled, "Yeah, there's a few." you felt your face heat up as you thought about Evan, specifically. The two of you have started to talk more and more as the weeks have gone on.
He even asked you out on a date.
Which you said yes to. You figured it wouldn't hurt to go out on a date with Evan. He is such a sweet guy. It would be nice for you to go downtown for an evening, and going with Evan makes it even better.
The only issue though: you haven't told Joe about the date.
He doesn't really need to know though. It's none of his business who you go out with it, right?
You’re just going to go out with Evan to see how things go. If there's something there, there's something there. You don't want to force anything or rush into a relationship too quickly either.
But, you have nothing to worry about. You have a really good feeling about Evan.
Joe smiled, "Well I'm glad you're starting to meet some people.”
"Yeah?" you asked, a small smile making its way onto your face.
"Yeah." He stated with a nod as his soft smile was still displayed on his lips. Even though he was smiling, you could see Joe carried a slight sense of disappointment in his demeanor.
Weird... you thought to yourself. You shrugged it off, figuring you were just mistaking his tiredness as disappointment.
You and Joe continued to make small conversation for the next twenty minutes as the storm passed. As he was telling you a story about his Junior prom, you felt your eyes grow heavier and heavier. Soon, you were taken over by a peaceful slumber, falling asleep and staying asleep on the chair in the living room for the rest of the night.
Joe's pov:
"And then we went back to my best friends house and..." I let out a chuckle as I saw Y/n had fallen asleep on the chair. I smiled softly as I watched her chest rise and fall with each breath she took.
She looked so peaceful, yet so uncomfortable at the same time.
I threw the blanket off of my body and stood from the couch, stretching my limbs. I was exhausted. I could have easily slept through the storm, but Y/n asked me to keep her company, and I couldn't say no.
So I stayed up for an hour and a half just talking to Y/n. It was nice. I've learned a lot about her and I think it's safe to say she and I have both realized maybe we're not so bad after all. We started off on the wrong foot, but things are already looking better after our conversations from tonight.
I blew out all of the small candles on the table before grabbing the blanket and my phone from the couch. Items in hand, I walked over to Y/n, who was curled up on the chair with her head resting on her arm that was draped over the arm rest. I smiled to myself and pulled her blanket up further so it covered her bare shoulders. The movement of the blanket caused her to move in her sleep. I grimaced as I saw her move, thinking I had just woken her up. She only snuggled further into the couch, adjusting her arm so it was more comfortable for her to lay on.
"Goodnight, sweets. Sleep well." I whispered, knowing she was sound asleep so she wouldn't hear me.
As I started to walk away, I heard a faint voice say, "G'night Joe."
I stopped in my tracks and turned around, seeing Y/n re-adjust herself once again before falling back to sleep. I smiled. She probably didn't even realize she woke up momentarily to say goodnight to me. I turned back around and made my way back into my bedroom. I got into my bed, getting under the covers and laying my head down. I let out a sigh as laid in bed and looked up at the ceiling. My thoughts wandered to the last couple hours. It made me happy knowing Y/n and I were finally—well hopefully finally, on good terms with each other.
I did exactly what Logan told me to do if I wanted to make things better between us.
Just get to know her.
So that's what I did. I think it's safe to say it worked. Y/n isn't so bad after all and I think she feels the same way about me now.
I don't know what exactly it is that I'm feeling about Y/n, but I do know one thing.
I care about her a lot more than I should as just her roommate.
hey loves!
so you and joe are finally starting to get along, we're going to see some drama soon…it's gettin' good!

TORNADO WARNINGS
Joe Burrow x male reader
Summary: Y/n reflects on his relationship with Joe in therapy. What his therapist doesn’t know won’t kill him.
——————————————————————————
“So tell me your favorite memory with Joe.”
Y/n didn’t know why he was wasting his time in therapy if he’s just going to be asked questions like this. It’s like he was being asked what his favorite childhood vacation destination was and it makes him feel like a little boy being mentally evaluated.
“I don’t know. I mean- there was this one time when I went to his game against the Kansas City Chiefs and we got this tornado warning. We were just sitting on the swings at this park and it was already cold and windy. The alarm started going off and the look on his face was like he was a character straight out of a horror movie.” Y/n said with a tiny smile and turned to his right to look out the window. “Neither of us had ever seen a real tornado, maybe in the Wizard of Oz, but never in person. Sure, we were both scared, but seeing his eyes wide with pure fear and his knuckles white as snow when he was gripping the chain on the swing was the most hilarious thing I had ever seen. He tried to convince me that we need to go and seek shelter, but I just sat there in the swing laughing. Eventually he sat down in the swings with me and just laughed with me. We even saw the tornado in the distance, but we didn’t move a muscle and we were luckily still safe. Well, no, that was kind of a lie. We did move, but it was only so we could play on the seesaw, then we just laid in the bark together. His arms were wrapped around my waist and I felt so safe. We were so close, not only in proximity, but also on an emotional level. We had feelings for each other, but we both refused to admit it. We were like teenagers playing 7 minutes in heaven, in the sense that we were like kids teetering with our feelings in the dark, both too afraid to make a move.”
Y/n felt a twinge of sadness deep in his heart when he thought of the memories. Remembering what it was like to face danger in the face with Joe hurt him a little more than he would like to admit.
“From what i’m understanding, the two of you stayed at the park in the middle of a tornado and risked facing the tornadoes wrath, just because you thought it was funny?” Y/n therapist asked him. It’s like he couldn’t believe that two people could be so in love that they just wanted to stay there and live in the moment, even if it meant being in the wake of a natural disaster.
“Well, when you put it like that, yeah, I guess we do sound a bit crazy.” Y/n chuckled in response.
“Like, don’t get me wrong, it was totally crazy to just sit there when we saw the tornado destroying everything in its path, but somehow it all felt like everything would be okay.”
“Why?” Dr. Wallard questioned Y/n.
“Because I was with him. I knew we would be okay as long as we were together.”
————————————————————————
“CINCINNATI, YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN SO AMAZING TONIGHT!”
Y/n felt a jolt of electricity while he was onstage. Performing in Paycor stadium was something different for him to get used to, but he felt so comfortable in Paycor, considering how many games he had been here to watch, despite being a California native.
“So, you guys know I’ve been doing this thing at the end of every show where I play a surprise song. We have 1 song left, so what do you guys think the song is going to be?”
Y/n didn’t want the night to end, so he was more than happy to keep the crowd engaged. He heard people yelling all around him in the stadium. He heard Vicious, Sue Me, Because I Liked A Boy, Decode, but he had something else in mind.
“Jokes on all of you, because i’m doing a song that no one has ever heard, not even my team. I just finished the final master last night and I’m so excited for you guys to hear this song. Only three people in the world will know what this song is about, myself, the person I wrote it about, and my therapist.” Y/n joked as he was introducing the song. The entire stadium howled with laughter and cheers after he said that.
“This song is called Tornado Warnings”
————————————————————————
“You always blow me away with your performances.”
Y/n knew that voice in the dark, if he were blind, even if he had his ears covered. Just the sound made his heart pick up to an inhuman speed.
“You just want to see me on my knees in front of you, Burrow” Y/n made a teasing joke in response.
“Well, I would never turn that down, but I mean it, you’ve always been such a captivating and talented performer. It was fun to come to your show today.” Joe pleaded. Y/n turned around and his breath dropped the second he saw those eyes, cool as ice. It never ceased to amaze him how much of an effect Joe’s eyes had on him.
“Thank you. That means a lot. Did you have a favorite song or part of the show?” Y/n asked him, trying to be as casual as he could.
“There was one song I heard tonight that I couldn’t get out of my head. It was something along the lines of you lying to your therapist. That seems like it’s the opposite of helpful, don’t you think?” Joe spoke, poking fun at Y/n.
“Yeah, but it was only ever for the lyrics. It fit the melody and theme of the song. I’ve been entering more of my popstar era than my songwriter era and now i’m just singing what fits the melody than making sure my lyrics are true to me.” Y/n said sarcastically. Joe could always see right through him.
“Right, because you’re a popstar, not a singer-songwriter who the internet claims is the son of Taylor Swift.” Joe said laughing. “Anyway, I really liked that song. I really liked being called a son of a bitch.”
Y/n laughed and it felt so natural to be with Joe like this. Oh god, Dr. Wallard would be so disappointed in Y/n right now if he knew about this.
“No, that one was actually just a line that worked for the melody. I don’t think you’re a son of a bitch. Your mom is an angel.” Y/n said with a smile on his face. He slow started inching his way towards Joe and wrapped his arms around his waist, looking up at him.
“I’ll tell her you said that” Joe chuckled back. He wrapped his arms around Y/n and leaned down to kiss him. No matter what happened, no matter how hard either of them tried, they just couldn’t stay aware from each other. There was something magnetic, something out of this world about their relationship. Joe didn’t want to be with anyone else, even if they were officially in a relationship. “You know, sometimes I can’t tell if we’re in a relationship, just hookup up, friends with benefits, or if you just like kissing me.”
“Oh please! Don’t flatter yourself, Burrow. You look like the green giant from that vegetable company.” Y/n retorted. “If anything, YOU just like kissing me.”
“Cant argue with you there.”
————————————————————————
Y/n thought about Joe all the freaking time. In the shower, driving to the grocery store, on stage performing, but his thoughts about Joe just hit a little differently when he was in his therapy sessions.
“If Joe were to tell you, right now, that he wants to get back together with you, would you do it? Would you reignite that spark that started your relationship in the first place?” Dr. Wallard asked Y/n.
“Oh fuck that! No. Absolutely not. I’m over that son of a bitch. I’m at a point in my life where I almost want to put all of that behind me and pretend like it never existed. I’m just gonna start telling everyone that we never dated, we never saw each other in the first place, we never kissed.” Y/n lied with no hesitation and absolutely no conviction.
Maybe some part of him thought that if he could convince Dr. Wallard that if he couldn’t see the lie that it doesn’t exist. Deep down, he knew that he wasn’t as mysterious as he thought and he’s not as good of a liar as he thinks he is. Dr. Wallard has GOT to be catching on as much as Y/n denies anything ever happened with Joe.
“You wouldn’t go back to the person that you described as the most epic love of your life? You’ve once told me that you think he’s the only person you could ever be with. You had plans or dreams to marry him. Do you still get those dreams sometimes?” Dr. Wallard investigated further.
“No. No. No. In fact, I actually met someone else. There’s a man i’ve been seeing who looks like Joe in a way, maybe it’s the eyes, but character wise, he’s nothing like Joe. He’s so much better than Joe. He’s like he was a predestined thought in Santa’s mind before he was even born and has been on the nice list from birth. He’s the upgraded version of Joe.”
“Does this man have a name?”
“I’d rather not say that right now. I don’t want to jinx anything, you know?”
“Ok. That’s a valid argument. Does this man have any green flags that Joe didn’t?”
“This man is nothing but green flags. Joe was like a walking red flag, or like a walking, talking, breathing natural disaster warning.” Y/n argued.
Y/b had to think a little more about his next response. He thought of Joe and his sweet kisses.
“Joe was a walking tornado warning.”

it's tuesday!
last weekend someone taught me how to catch crayfish when wading and this weekend i successfully grabbed one!! proof at the end of the post.
listening: guess (charli xcx, billie eilish): old roommate put this on for me and helloooooo. it's so. yeah. (link is the official music video, warning for flashing) it led me to this playlist cunty trashy slutty skanky which, first of all, excellent playlist name; second of all, what a fucking combination of songs?? something about the juxtaposition of nirvana -> kesha -> korn, etc is. insane in a good way.
last week was bandcamp friday! i last-minute got a few things: finally got sammy rae's "good life" and "let's throw a party", and preordered their newest album "something for everybody". i still need to buy my ticket for their concert near to me this fall. then i got sad snack's full discography for like $5 (the no children ska cover lol), the altogether's "when we were kids" which has been a go-to comfort album for me for a bit, shakey graves "deadstock" anthology, and finally the dear hunter "antimai".
i've been back on the podcast grind, just casually keeping up with stuff like mbmbam sawbones lpotl etc as they come out. most recent mbmbam (episode....730?? jesus christ) has some REALLY funny bits, notably towards the beginning where the cincinnati tornado sirens were being tested and griffin made a comment about the air raid sirens going off again and travis was like ?? dude i'm not in the fucking blitz??? it was very good. there was something else towards the end of the episode that also made me laugh out loud -- oh yes i just went and relistened to the last minute and it's the wish at the end, "i wish my cat would know what it means when i flip him off". so fucking true griffin. i was considering going to one of their tour dates but unfortunately they will be in the nearest city to me when i'm out of town for my second wedding of the fall. ah well
reading: most fallow. lots of little articles for my research.
watching: shane dawson and the art of the constant rebrand - jimmy robins: little retrospective about a guy who i never really liked and haven't thought about in years. i guess he's still around ??? okay. not gonna embed it so you don't get jumpscared by his face.
playing: this is a partial share with watching but last weekend my old roommate and i hung out with one of our friends with the intention of having dinner and crafting. however. we were so tired from kayaking earlier that day that we just ended up watching friend play stray and not crafting at all. it's really cute! i did get Very emotional at the beginning when the cat fell! i was like no!!!
my friend mostly played it but i did do a little bit, it was lots of fun. there was a very funny bit where friend, getting really in the mindset of Being Cat, pulled out a battery pack from a fan and was like "hehe i'm gonna drop it off the roof!" and did it before we could stop her, we were like wait we might need that to solve a puzzle -- but the answer was no it was fine, which is good, because it ended up dropped on a completely inaccessible rooftop ledge below, oopsie.
making: !!! ALL REDACTED !!! i will be able to post some of it next week. i do not know if beloved mutual celestialtourguide reads these regularly but just to be safe. allegedly the glaze kiln WILL be done by wednesday so i will finally know how fucked my guys are. if they're very fucked it'll be like. well, okay, i guess my gift is just money now,
other redacted item is embroidery related!
eating: mostly leftovers from last week, i think im gonna make crisped chickpeas with herbs and garlic yogurt from deb smittenkitchen to use up a zucchini that i have languishing in the fridge. it'll be a nice light lunch.
misc: THE PRELIMINARY EXAM DOCUMENT EXISTS. rejoice. however this comes with the caveat that i don't have a date set yet because i am in the trenches of trying to solve a Very specific problem with my software. the solution is a complete unknown to me as of now. it is in the stage of "putting key words in quotation marks in google scholar and going down the list emailing all the authors like heyyyy help please", which is scary. at least one other person has done something semi-similar - in fact they have my advisor in their acknowledgements thanking them for her editing help lol - so i'm hoping i'm nearly there. because once that is resolved i can FINALLY set a date, which, assuming i pass, also sets the earliest point at which i can give my thesis defense! scary!!
anyway. crayfish proof. it looks like im squishing him way worse than i actually was, he got released and swam away safely do not worry

Save Me A Spark (Part 7)
Warnings: SMUT 18+, nipple piercings, slight nipple play, p in v, unprotected sex, fingering, cursing, brief talk of Cassie's past relationships
Word Count: 2.1k
The cold Cincinnati wind blew across Cassie’s face and nipped at her nose. Her cheeks were red and chapped from the cold. Her fingers felt slightly stiff as she rubbed her hands together in an attempt to warm them up. Despite the frigid chill she was feeling on her skin, she felt warm and fuzzy on the inside as she watched Austin work. Seeing him in his element captivated her to the point that she had almost forgotten about the pictures. Almost.
Her thoughts were swirling in the back of her mind as she thought of every possibility that the articles and pictures could result in. The good thoughts and the bad thoughts were rising and falling as if they were hot and cold air, and her mind a dark storm cloud just waiting to sprout a brutal tornado. She hadn’t even noticed that she had zoned out and started to pick at her nails.
A slightly warm hand rested on her hands, startling her out of her thoughts. She immediately relaxed after turning to see Austin and she let out a deep breath.
“It’s just me. I just wanted to come check on you.” He said before sitting next to her. “How come you’re picking at your nails?” He lifted his hand from hers.
She grabbed her phone and opened up the group chat where her band had sent all of the photos and handed it to him. She watched as he took her phone and looked through the messages. His brows furrowed for a moment and he glanced up at her before he continued to look. Her heart shot up into her throat as she didn’t take that look as a good sign. But then he smiled.
“We look pretty good together.” he beamed, handing Cassie the phone back.
Cassie let go of a breath she didn’t realize she’d been holding, “Yeah. We do.”
When Austin saw her reaction his face slowly fell. He tilted his head slightly as he looked at her, “What’s wrong?”
“I thought you were gonna be mad for a second there.” Cassie shrugged, “I’ve gotten bitched at by ex partners for posting them before. So I was scared it was gonna be like that…just on a much bigger scale. And probably worse because we aren’t even together.”
Cassie was rambling at this point and Austin was sporting a tight frown at her confession. He grabbed her hands in his. “Cass.” he said softly, yet firmly, “I’m not mad. I wouldn’t be mad. This is out of our control and I don’t even mind that it happened.”
Cassie cracked a smile, “You promise?”
“I promise.” Austin murmured sweetly, staring directly into her eyes as a smile of his own began to form.
Cassie leaned in to press a kiss to his cheek, but Austin turned his head at the last second to catch her lips. He couldn’t help but smile when she pulled away laughing. “There’s that pretty smile,” he said with a soft chuckle.
At that moment, Austin was called back to set. He leaned forward to kiss her forehead before he got up to go back. As he walked away, he turned and gave Cassie a little wave, which she returned with a smile.
Cassie watched Austin work from afar. After their little conversation, she was feeling a lot better about the entire situation. She was able to focus once more on the gorgeous man performing his passion. She crossed her legs in her seat as she watched him, leaning slightly forward with her elbows resting on her legs. His voice was like velvet. Certain words he would say packed a powerful punch that she could feel in her chest. The way his hair was tousled and the dirt and grime painted on his face made her feel breathless. The faded leather jacket and tattered jeans was doing something for her. All of that combined with the way he would straddle his bike had her completely drawn in. Despite the cold temperature in the air, Cassie felt burning hot. The warmth she had felt inside when watching him work earlier had turned into a desperate, pulsing heat.
She was snapped out of her trance when the director called ‘cut’. She blinked a few times before glancing around and shifting awkwardly in her seat, her breath hitching as her legs pressed together. The director called a ten minute break and Cassie watched as Austin motioned her over to him. Slowly, she stood up and made her way over.
When she was close enough, he wrapped an arm around her waist. “You ever been on a motorcycle before?” he asked, voice low and raspy, causing Cassie’s chest to tighten.
Despite how she was feeling in that moment, a smirk spread across her face as she placed a hand on his chest and then put on her best innocent, doe-eyed face. “Yeah, baby. I ride.” she admitted, voice soft and teasing.
Austin’s eyebrows shot up, “You do?”
Cassie nodded. “Mhm.” she hummed, just barely sliding her hand down his chest.
Austin’s breath hitched and he blinked a few times. “Show me.”
“Gladly.” Cassie beamed, stepping away from him and smoothly mounting his bike. As she started the bike, she turned to shoot a wink at Austin.
Austin watched as Cassie took off like it was nothing. She steered the bike to go in a few tight circles. Her hair blew behind her and she bit her lip in concentration. Austin gulped once she stopped the bike exactly where it had been and turned it off.
“Was that enough of a show for you?” she teased as she swung her legs off of the bike. She walked back over to him and slung her arms around his neck, looking up at him with a slight smirk.
“Just when I thought you couldn’t get any hotter.” he mumbled as looked down at her, his hands finding her hips as he stared in disbelief.
He leaned down to kiss her and right before their lips touched, the director called everyone back to work. Austin let out a sigh as he pulled away.
“Guess that’s your cue.” Cassie said, feigning a sigh as she fluttered her eyelashes.
“Guess so,” Austin grumbled, “I’ll deal with you later.” A smirk spread across his face and there was a mischievous glint in his eye.
“Can’t wait.” Cassie winked at him before she started to walk off. Before she could get very far, he sent her off with a light smack on her ass, earning a teasing glare from her as she walked back to her seat.
The second the director called for a lunch break, Austin was all but sprinting to Cassie. He was a man on a mission as he approached her standing figure. Once he was close enough he wrapped his arm around her shoulders and pulled her close to him as she melted into his touch. She tilted her head upwards to look at him.
“So,” she whispered, “Are you gonna deal with me now?”
Austin took a deep breath before responding with a simple nod, guiding her back to his trailer as fast as his long, lanky legs could carry him. When she couldn’t keep up, he stopped for a second to pick her up and put her over his shoulder, resulting in a surprised squeal.
“What the fuck?” Cassie laughed, “Are you serious right now?”
Austin started to laugh along with her as he held onto her tightly, picking up the pace again to finally arrive at his trailer. He put her down at the door and opened it. Cassie walked in, followed by Austin, and as soon as he got the door shut, he was pinning her against it.
His lips crashed into hers in desperation. Cassie let out a soft whimper as she kissed back with fervor. Her tongue poked at Austin’s bottom lip. He deepened the kiss, their tongues flicking against each other as he began to run his hands down her body, only stopping when they rested on her ass. He brought one hand forward, slipping it down her pants and groaning once feeling how soaked she was. She moaned loudly into his mouth when she felt his calloused fingers slowly rubbing circles on her clit.
He pulled away from her lips to trail kisses down her jaw and neck. His fingers ran through her folds before returning to her clit. Her head fell back against the door as she let out a whimper, her hips pushing forward to chase the pleasure.
Austin hummed against her skin, a smirk apparent in his voice. “What’s got you so worked up baby?”
She whined as she opened her mouth to speak. “Y-You…on that bike,” she breathed, “…in those clothes…y-your voice.”
“Funny,” he chuckled. “You on my bike is what got me worked up.”
He began to suck a mark into her neck while sliding two fingers into her heat. She choked out a moan as he moved his fingers, pace quickening by the second, his palm pressing up against her clit. She held onto his shoulders, her grip tight, as her knees started to go weak and legs started to tremble. Loud, lewd noises escaped from her trembling parted lips as Austin’s fingers showed no mercy.
He felt her clenching around his fingers and he pulled them out. She whined at the loss, “Austin please.” She slowly raised her head from where it was leaning against the door to look at him with pleading eyes.
He made eye contact with her as he pulled his hand out of her pants and brought his fingers to his mouth, sucking her juices off them and moaning at the taste. She watched him as he slowly pulled his fingers from his mouth. “Those fucking lips,” she groaned.
She grabbed his wrist and dragged him over to the couch, pushing him onto it so he was sitting. She climbed on top of him, straddling him as she took off her hoodie and the shirt under it. He leaned forward and kissed her roughly as she started to push his jacket off of his arms. He removed his arms from the jacket to help before grabbing her hips. She pulled away from his lips and grabbed the bottom of his shirt, pulling it up and off of him. “Pants down” she commanded as she stood up, kicking off her shoes and removing her pants and undergarments.
Austin unbuttoned and unzipped his pants, lifting his hips to slide them down his legs, no boxers in sight. She straddled his lap again, holding herself up on her knees to hover as she grabbed his cock, resulting in a groan from Austin. “You gonna ride me like you rode my bike?”
Cassie looked up at him with a smirk. “No,” she started. “I’m gonna ride you better than I rode your bike.”
She slipped the head of his cock between her soaked lips before sinking down on it, a prolonged moan escaping her chest as he filled her. As she started to bounce, Austin’s head fell back and his breathing quickened. She rested her hands on his chest as she found her pace. Her high pitched moans, Austin’s grunts, and the sound of their skin slapping together filled the small trailer.
Austin lifted his head to watch her, his eyes lidded as he focused on her breasts bouncing up and down, the piercings in her nipples catching the light with each bounce. He moaned loudly as his hips involuntarily bucked up into her, causing her to gasp. She stopped bouncing and instead started swirling and grinding her hips as he continued to thrust up into her.
Cassie leaned into him slightly as she swirled her hips, mimicking how she would write her name with her motions. Austin took one of her nipples into his mouth, sucking on it and swirling his tongue around the cold metal. She let out a high pitched moan and grabbed his hand, leading it to her clit as she continued to swivel her hips on him.
He pressed his thumb to her clit and started rubbing quick tight circles. His thrusts started to get sloppy and erratic as her cunt clenched around him.
“Austin I’m close,” she whimpered, trying to keep up her pace. “D-Don’t stop!”
He pulled off of her breast. “M-Me too,” he breathed. “Where do you want it?”
“Inside,” she whined, “Please!”
Austin grunted as his orgasm crashed into him, white ropes of sticky cum shooting into her spasming heat. She collapsed onto him as her own orgasm washed over her. He held her as they both came down from their highs, heavy breaths the only sound in the room.
“You were right,” Austin chuckled breathlessly.
Cassie sat up slightly to look at him, “What?”
“You definitely rode me better than you rode my bike.”

Anyone else following the tornado/storm situation?? We’re in the red— SW corner of Ohio. I watch this guy (below) a lot and tbh this is the first time I’ve seen him actually send a chaser to Cincinnati. It’s not here yet, but there are multiple tornadoes confirmed on the ground in the yellow area atm.

Dorothea Van Camp has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rhode Island School of Design, and attended the University Of Cincinnati College of Design.
A review of her 2021 show Breach by Cate McQuaid of the Boston Globe writes:
“In Dorothea Van Camp’s painting/screenprint hybrids, upholstery and wallpaper patterns heave, twist, and flutter in unnervingly indeterminate spaces. The designs resound with household familiarity, but the way she pushes them insists on tension and change. She evokes rites of passage and the life cycle they usher us through.
These paintings hold a lot; in grief, hope and in hope, grief. The sheer propulsiveness of some of the patterns keeps the works from feeling sodden or sentimental, removing them from placid domestic interiors like the tornado carrying Dorothy off to Oz — while at the same time delivering us into the true, aching drama of life at home.
One plant dies and another flowers. We are wrecked; we are rejuvenated. Life goes on.”

Downtown Cincinnati
Stephanie and Arja walked out of the cinema onto the streets of Cincinnati, the Indian girl finishing off her coke before tossing it in the garbage. “Huh, those movies were a lot different from the games.” she shrugged, “Nice to actually see it early though. Normally I have to use a VPN or wait months for them to reach India.” she grinned.
“Yeaaaaaah, you think they’d be better at getting them out now. I mean the freakin’ internet exists.” replied Stephanie, shrugging her shoulders as they walked through the city. She was still watching for the naga (first rule of being a hunter: if you don’t find a body DON’T ASSUME ITS DEAD) but so far the coast was clear. She’d had a bit of a freak out moment when they heard a hissing noise earlier, but it turned out someone had driven over a busted bottle and blew a hole in their tire.
The two had met up earlier that morning and gone out to see Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and now were basically two kids in the city looking for anything to occupy their time.
“So… I did some research online about Hanuman after last night…” she nodded, “He’s really your ancestor?” asked Stephanie.
Arja grinned at her, “Yep! Dad’s mortal, but my mom is like me. They met years ago when he was an explorer in India. He found a path that led to the supernatural world reflection of our homeland and almost got killed by a rakshasa, but my mom rescued him and the two just sorta hit it off. Few years later I’m there and dad retires from exploring and gets into his family’s business of politics and such. His family act as diplomats for India but are also one of the noble houses in Jaipur.” she nodded.
“Oh, neat. Clan Fullmoon is a bit different… we don’t have a divine ancestor, it’s more of a long-standing pact with one…” replied Stephanie, and she went on to explain.
Centuries ago, before the rise of the Roman Empire, back even before the Iron Age, Ireland was not a very good place to live. The Fair Folk preyed on humanity with reckless abandon and dark forces lurked around every corner, but the worst of it all were the werewolves.
These days packs of werewolves were much more civilized. They stayed to the virgin forests and wild areas of the world or learned to blend in with humanity, but in the old times they were wild and vicious beings, true monsters who saw humans as just another form of prey no different from wild deer or boar.
The legend went that a village, the name lost in the distant past, was slaughtered by one of the wolf packs, only two people able to escape from it: Aidan and Deirdre, two young lovers recently wed to each other who hid under the rubble of their collapsed home while the werewolves killed and ate their friends and family.
As they fled their souls cried out for vengeance and justice against the monsters who’d destroyed their lives, and Morrigan heard their plea. The Maven herself appeared before them and offered them a pact. They pledge themselves and all their descendants to her, and she would grant them power so that they would never again need fear the predations of the dark creatures of the night.
Aidan took on her aspect as a Goddess of War, becoming stronger than any man in Ireland. He became able to beat a werewolf to death with his bare hands if need be, his skin toughening like hard leather and gaining stamina enough to run through the woods for three days and nights without tiring.
Deirdre took on her aspect as the Queen of Ravens, gaining the power to transform and become capable of flight as well as to command storms and winds. While her husband fought their enemies directly she would harry them with gale force winds, swirling tornados, and bright crashing lighting clouds.
Eventually Deirdre became pregnant, and they discovered that their child had inherited the Maven’s gifts as well. They had a son, then a daughter, both of whom had the same powers as their father and mother respectively, and eventually those children grew, wed, and had children of their own, and the line continued on and on to the present day.
“… and as the family got bigger we became famous among old Ireland for hunting down rogue werewolf packs. We got a reputation as ‘Those Who Hunt By The Light of the Full Moon.’ Bit of a mouthful in Gaelic though so it eventually got shortened to just ‘Clan Fullmoon.’” she nodded. “I dunno how true it is that Deirdre could actually make entire lightning storms and such though, none of the Clan I’ve ever met could pull THAT off. Most I can do is localized windstorm and those ‘mine’ things you saw me use on that naga the other night, also fly. I can’t actually fly fly, I’m just using my magic to lift myself up in my bird form by catching my own wind under my wings.” she nodded.
“Yeah, see, that sounds exactly like the garuda I know back home! Only difference is they’re all Indian like me, and their wings are green, not black.” replied Arja. “Its just so wild, how is it your family and their people have the same things?” she scratched at her hair a bit.
Stephanie shrugged, “Heck if I know. Sometimes stuff is just weird. My big brother Nelen has been all over and he’s seen all sorts of crazy things. Heck he helped us stop this crazy faerie woman from taking my cousin last spring. She was this little girl looking thing that could summon toy-monsters.”
Arja raised her eyebrow at her, “… seriously?” she asked, “So what, like a fanged Playstation?”
“No no, like older-style toys. Like teddy bears the size of real bears and stuff.” she clarified.
“… riiiiiight.” chuckled the Indian girl. “Must’ve been a crazy fight.”
Stephanie nodded, thinking back to how that fight ended and what she saw her brother unleash to defeat Isolde, “… yes… yes it most certainly was…” she muttered. “… hey wanna get ice cream?” she asked.
“Yogurt for me, but sure!” grinned Arja.
Meanwhile back in Edgewood
Catherine was making lunch with the news playing in the background.
As she finished up her pasta on the stove she paused, hearing the newscaster’s voice.
“In other news, Monsters at the Levy? Covington has had a lot of bizarre stories lately but this one takes the cake. Eyewitnesses state they saw some sort of ‘giant snake thing’ fighting a…” the newscaster stopped to check the notes, “… ‘golden monkey and two bird kids…’ We only have a small photo from someone’s camera, and its hard to see but you can make out… well… SOMEthing…” he said.
She felt a chill go down her spine, turning to look at the small television on her counter next to the stove.
Sure enough, it looked grainy as hell, the camera must have been shaking badly… but there was no mistaking that flame-red hair.
“Monsters at the riverfront? I dunno Tom, that looks like a job for Superman if you ask me.” chuckled his co-host.
“Yeah Tina, probably just some publicity stunt for a movie but I’ll say this. Hollywood has our attention.” he grinned.
Behind her, her phone began to ring… the caller ID showing a number with Ireland’s country code…
Back in Cincinnati
Arja and Stephanie were at Fountain Square, sitting next to the fountain itself.
The fountain was a popular tourist destination and hangout for locals as well. There was usually a band playing there on the stage and the spray from the fountain gave a pleasingly cool mist even in the hotter summer months. The two had finished off their treats by now and were just enjoying the rest of their day. “So…” said Stephanie, “How long are you and your dad gonna be in town?” she asked.
“Oh, yanno… a day or two, maybe. He likes to take his time on these trips when he can. He was an explorer back in the day so he always enjoys just, well, exploring. Looking around. Believe it or not he’s a big nut for smaller markets… um… I think they’re called Flea Markets in this country?” she tried, Arja looking up in thought at that.
Stephanie giggled, “No way, really?! He’s like some bigshot in India isn’t he?”
“Hey! He got into exploration to find rare and unusual relics and those places always have antiques and such for sale. He’s found some really neat stuff just browsing around those.” Arja laughed back, “Really, our house back home is kinda half-museum.”
Stephanie smirked, “Sounds like something my brother would like. He’s always got this messenger bag with him filled with all sorts of crazy stuff. He did some sort of spell on it so the inside is huge, like truck sized.”
Arja grinned, then paused as her phone buzzed. She looked at the front and sighed, “Uuuuugh…” she huffed, looking upwards, “Dad says one of the bigwigs from that Proctor and whatsits company invited us to dinner. I gotta go play the meek little Indian girl for his business buddies…” she huffed, “He knows I hate it so he’ll make it up to me but… uuuuugh…” she rolled her eyes.
Stephanie’s smile faltered a bit, “Well… its your parents, what can ya do?” she shrugged.
Arja nodded, “Yeah… I’d better head back to our hotel. Thanks for hanging out today.” she grinned, leaning in and kissing Stephanie on the cheek, then hopping up and heading off into the crowd, following the GPS on her phone.
Stephanie’s eyes went huge at the kiss, her face flushed. “Sure… no problem…” she muttered, staring into the fountain’s spray as Arja took off. “Anytime…” she added.
A bit later she got onto a metro bus back to Kentucky, mumbling, “My pleasure Arja, we can do it again tomorrow…”
When she transferred from the metro to the TANK (Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky) bus she was whispering, “Anytime…” over and over under her breath, she hadn’t blinked in a while either.
By the time the bus squeaked to a halt in Edgewood the shock had mostly worn off, the girl grinning wide enough to impress her brother’s cat as she got off. She stood at the stop as it rolled away, then bunched up a bit and stomped her feet excitedly, “Ehehehehehehehe!” she squealed, then did a sort of twirl and whistled out a complex melody as all the nearby flowers suddenly got caught in a gale, the petals breaking free and swirling up into the sky.
"She kissed me she kissed me she kissed me she kissed me!” she giggled uncontrollably. If Isolde were here she’d be getting a contact buzz just by being in the same post code as those emotions, the girl practically dancing back home. “She’s just so AMAZING! She’s so cool and confident and powerful and she’s not afraid to stare down a huge monster like that and we actually can do stuff together and aaaaaaaaaaah!” she shook herself, ignoring the weird looks from passerby.
“Though…” she paused, “I suppose that could mean something different in India? Is India like France? Is a kiss on the cheek there just, like, their way of shaking hands?” she thought aloud, glancing up as she tapped her chin.
She blinked, then got out her phone, then looked it up. “… nooooo, huh… public displays of affection are banned there? Yikes…”
“Soooo, that means it means a lot… more there than it does here? I mean we were in public…” she blinked slowly, the blush returning to her cheeks, then she squealed excitedly, “EEEEEEEE!” she grinned, practically skipping up the path to her house. “Oh maaaaaaaaan nothing can ruin this day!” she giggled excitedly.
Then she got inside and the door slammed shut behind her.
Catherine Fullmoon was standing there, her face like the wrath of a vengeful deity.
“Stephanie. We need to TALK.” she said in a tone that suggested ‘I am calm now, but I am holding onto it by my goddamn TEETH.’
Moments later, in the kitchen
She slapped the picture down that she’d printed off her computer, pointing to the blurry image of a girl in the sky. It was nighttime so her wings weren’t really visible, but there was no mistaking that hair.
“YOU… YOU… FOOLISH LITTLE… YOUR GRANDFATHER WAS ALL SET TO DEMAND I SURRENDER YOU TO HIM! I HAD TO BEG HIM FOR LENIENCY!” she screamed, her face red.
Stephanie stared at the image. Dammit, how did she miss that? Okay yeah so there was a giant snake monster but she should have known better!
“I… w-well what was I supposed to do then?! Run to Steve's house and drag Roger down to the riverfront?” she demanded, looking up at her mother. “I was right THERE! I can do SOMETHING when that happens!” she shouted.
“Stephanie, I know… believe me I damn well KNOW! But Dad was… I’d never heard him so furious. He had photographic PROOF that you were violating his ban on magic use! As Patriarch he could have executed you!” she shouted, “Do you want to wind up like your brother?! On the run from my father and his crazy goon squad?!”
“Well why not?! He seems to be doing okay!” she shot back.
The Wulfshead Pub
Nelen looked up from his drink, then frowned and dug a finger into his ear, “My ears are burning…” he muttered.
Loren smirked, “ ‘s wut ye get fer usin’ yer demon ta clean ‘em cous…”
Nelen gave her an annoyed look, “I only did that once… and it was a really stubborn bit of wax.” he grumbled.
Behind them Dawn was doing karaoke again, a spirited rendition of ‘I Fought the Law and the Law Won.’
Edgewood
Catherine glared at her daughter, “I try and I try and I try… Stephanie. Its over.” she nodded, pointing to the fireplace.
She looked past her, then shrieked at what she saw. Catherine had found her hideout in the woods and cleaned it out. Her witch’s kit, the silver dagger, the shillelagh with the cold iron head, all of it was in it and the fire was roaring bright. “MOM! THAT’S MY… DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT WAS TO FIND THOSE THINGS?! I HAD TO MAKE THE STAFF MYSELF!” she screamed.
“I DON’T CARE STEPHANIE! ITS DONE, ITS OVER! NO MORE FLYING AROUND TOWN! NO MORE HUNTING! NOTHING! YOU ARE GOING TO GO TO SCHOOL AND LIVE YOUR LIVE AS A MUNDANE GIRL AND IF I EVEN SEE A BLACK FEATHER IN YOUR ROOM YOU’RE GOING TO BE GROUNDED UNTIL YOU LEAVE FOR COLLEGE!” she roared back.
Stephanie’s mouth opened and closed, then she turned and bolted up the stairs to her room. A moment later the door slammed shut.
Catherine shook her head, “Dammit girl, I know exactly what you mean, I know how hard it is to pretend I can’t see that happening… but I don’t want my mad father to kill you for it.” she sighed.
Stephanie was curled up on the floor of her room, her face pressed into her legs as she sobbed into her knees. She hated this, she hated having to do this. She wanted to use her magic, she wanted to fly, she wanted to fight back those things that threatened people. She wanted to SO damn bad… but…
… and then her phone rang.
Stephanie looked at the number, then answered it, “A-arja?” she asked.
“Heeeeeey, so… change of plans. My dad got called back to India…” she said apologetically, “Look I’m really really sorry, I would’ve loved to get to know you more but, yanno, can’t stay behind while he goes back home…”
She froze, the girl’s mouth moving but nothing coming out.
“… Stephanie? Are you there?” she asked, “Um… look, if this was about that kiss… just… l-look, you’re really great and stuff, I mean that was amazing how you just leapt in and helped me and my dad and all and… well… kiiiiinda got a weakness for that, not gonna lie… but… yeah… sorry, hope I didn’t get your hopes up. I mean… we’re not even from the same country… but… if we were…” she coughed awkwardly, “Um… anyways, I gotta go, we’re actually at the airport now. I’ll text when I can 'kay?” she said, then the phone clicked off…
Stephanie sat there, staring at the wall, a ringing in her ears. Her mother had wrecked her plans and outright forbidden her to use magic, her grandfather may try to kill her if she did, and this girl… this amazing girl… this girl whose kiss had made her feel like she could fly to the moon and back… was leaving… for another country…
Everyone has their breaking points, and hers had just been hit with a hammer.
She lept to her feet and kicked off her shoes, running to the window and pulling on it, then looking down when it refused to budge. Her mother was serious. She’d nailed the window shut!
Stephanie’s eye twitched, “No… no no no no no no NO!” she snarled, leaping back. A second later there was a tremendous crash and Catherine jumped up from the chair in the living room she’d been sulking in just in time to see her daughter’s bedroom window crashing into the backyard, with most of the wall still attached!
“STEPHANIE! STEPHANIE DON’T YOU DARE!” she shouted, running up the stairs and pushing open the door… and finding only an empty room with a destroyed wall, and her daughter gone.
The Skies Over Northern Kentucky
Its safe to say that Stephanie Fullmoon wasn’t really thinking very clearly at the moment. Her wings flapped as she whistled up a hurricane’s worth of wind, propelling herself towards Covington like a bullet. She could have done this in any number of locations nearer to her home, but she knew her mother wouldn’t use magic and she wanted some distance before she could get the car started and try to come after her.
She had to go, she had to get out, she had to find her… she said Jaipur right?! She heard her say it, and she knew... well… she heard Dawn say it and Nelen say it. She knew the passphrase even if she didn’t know what it meant!
The forests were a blur under her as the skyline of Cincinnati loomed ahead, the girl angling down and aiming for an alleyway, landing in it and looking around, her head pounding. “Alright alright… um… how’d it go… dammit…” she stammered, then put her hand on the wall. “I think it was like this… and…” she tried saying the words… then again… then once more… and finally on the fourth try the door to the Wulfshead Club materialized before her!
She shoved the door open and stumbled inside, then looked up at a loud grinding sound. Standing next to the door was a massive clay golem wearing a teeshirt, it's head turning to focus it's fiery gaze on Stephanie.
“S-sorry! Thought this was the Dairy Queen!” she said, spinning the dials frantically on the door until it read Jaipur India, then shoving it back open and rushing through into a throng of people in a city halfway across the world.
Loren watched as the door shut, then raised her eyebrow, “… nae, couldnae been…” she shook her head, then looked up as Nelen came back from the men’s room, rubbing hand sanitizer on his fingers (he couldn’t very well wash his hands around Merihim’s seal after all.)
“Sorry about that Loren, miss anything?” he asked.
Loren shrugged, “Eh, jus’ a doppelganger or somethin’ cous. Already buggered off.” she replied, downing her drink. Dawn meanwhile was keeping up the karaoke, singing ‘Run to the Hills’ by Iron Maiden.
Jaipur, India
Now that she was actually here the fire in her head was finally beginning to dissipate… and Stephanie realized how badly she’d screwed up. If a single grainy photograph had convinced Franklin she was violating his magic taboo having blasted the wall off her bedroom would definitely prove it.
Also, from the sounds and sights around her she forgot one maaaaaaaaaajor problem… she wasn’t Indian.
She stood out like a crow in a snowfield, and nothing she was hearing from anyone around her made even the slightest bit of sense. Everyone around her was speaking in Hindi, Stephanie could only listen in bewilderment.
Also she had no money, no extra clothes, thank GODS she at least thought to grab her PHONE…
She paused, then grinned. “My phone!” she gasped, then took out the phone and opened it up. Still mostly charged, but gods only knew how long that’d hold out. She got her phone but no charger! She opened the messenger app, then texted Arja.
‘So, rando Q… what’s your home address in Jaipur?’
After about three minutes, Arja responded.
‘Y?’
Stephanie winced, then replied…
‘I wanna send u something. It’s a surprise! ;)’
She technically wasn’t lying, this would probably surprise the heck out of her.
A moment later her phone buzzed.
‘Aww, u don’t gotta do that… but if u insist…’ and then there was a mailing address behind it.
Stephanie quickly copied it, opened the map app, and pasted it in, then activated the GPS and the directions and let out a woosh of relief. It wasn’t far.
‘Thanks! I hope u like it! :D’
She took a breath, then looked up. “… I am so screwed it is beyond belief…” she muttered.
Late That Evening
Rajesh’s private jet landed in Jaipur. He and Arja disembarked and took a car back to their home, a rather nice mansion house in the hills above the city.
As they rode along Rajesh called ahead, “Iravati my wild lotus flower…” he smiled, “Arja and I just landed and will be home soon my dear. Pity we could not stay longer but it will be wonderful to see you again.” he chuckled.
Arja rolled her eyes, but he was always like that when he talked to her mother. He called Arja his ‘little ruby lotus’ whenever he could get away with it and it always made her blush. Parents…
“Hm? Really? Someone has been hanging around the mansion? Some westerner?” he asked.
Arja blinked at that, looking over, who the heck could that be?
“She… claims to know Arja you say? Red hair?” he asked.
Arja’s eyes widened, then she looked at her own phone. Sending her a surprise, wanting to know her address. “… no way…” she muttered, then looked up as the car drew near the gates. Two of Rajesh’s security team were standing there… and a very familiar redhead was between them.
A bit later, inside the house
Stephanie sat on the bed in Arja’s room. Rajesh was suspicious of how a young girl could beat them there in a private jet, but Arja had said, in no uncertain terms, that anyone who didn’t want to look like they jumped into a Naan oven had better leave Stephanie alone until they figured out what the hell was going on.
Given that Arja was known for a bad temper and fire breath by the staff, they didn’t argue.
“… and...” she hiccuped a bit, “… and she burned it, all my gear, and said I had to just… stop using magic, at all. I just got so angry I couldn’t see straight, and then you called and said you were leaving and…” she gasped, her eyes red, “I… I just… something in my head just stopped working right and I blew the wall off my room and flew back to Covington and came here and now I can’t go home because my grandfather will kill me!” she sobbed, burying her head in her hands.
Arja sat next to her on the bed, the young Indian girl breathing a bit heavy herself after that, “Hey hey, its alright... we can let you stay here until we figure something out. There’s plenty of room.” she nodded, “Don’t worry about it.”
At the door however Rajesh coughed meaningfully, “Arja, my little ru-“ he paused as Arja gave him a look, “… daughter… she is not even from India. She ran away from home. I sympathize, I truly do. If her grandfather really is as she says I do not wish to simply turn her over to him, but this could cause serious problems. Her mother could report this as kidnapping or…” he started, then faltered at her expression.
Arja held up a finger, “Stephanie, gimme a second, I need to discuss something with my father.” she nodded, then walked up to him and pushed him out of the room by his waist, then back against the wall. Then she shapeshifted into her monkey form and climbed up the wall with her hands and legs at his sides until her head was level with his.
“I just had to listen to a girl I really like tell me how her insane granddad is ready to KILL her for helping us back in America and how she literally fled all the way here because of it. You know those business things you take me to? Where I wear my saree and all that heavy jewelry and play your ‘oh so sweet and innocent daughter’ and stuff? If you send her home I am NEVER doing that again. Next dinner party I’m embracing mom’s side of the family and will totally let loose. Get me?” she growled, “She stays, or I become the living embodiment of the ‘reject humanity, return to monke’ meme right infront of those pompous, arrogant, ‘oh look at the cute little brown kid’ assholes you parade me infront of.”
Rajesh sighed, then smiled at her a bit, “… you are so much like your mother sometimes.” he chuckled. “Very well my dear… she may stay until we figure out some way to return her home safely and ensure she remains so.” he nodded.
Arja growled meaningfully, her tail thrashing behind her, then nodded slowly, “Good.” she nodded, then she hopped down and shifted back into her human form, going back in her room and flopping down next to Stephanie.
“He said you can stay until we find a way to get you home that makes SURE you won’t be in any danger and stuff.” she nodded, then grinned, “What he meant was ‘she can stay so my daughter won’t go fire monkey and scare the shit out of a bunch of rich white idiots next time I need her to behave.’”
Stephanie looked at her and gave a weak smile, wiping her eyes, then Arja pulled her into a tight hug.
They’d only known each other a few days, but the same could be said for any pairing of people early on. Only time would tell what would become of it. Friendship… or perhaps something much deeper.

Oklahoma City and Kansas City placed under tornado watches as central US braces for largest tornado risk since May
The FOX Forecast Center reports that while a major severe weather outbreak isn’t anticipated and not everyone will experience storms, tens of millions of people from Texas to the Great Lakes will still be at risk on Wednesday.
Severe weather threats across the central U.S. have put millions on alert for powerful thunderstorms on Wednesday, with the potential for damaging winds, hail, and tornadoes. While the FOX Forecast Center notes that a major severe weather outbreak isn’t expected and not everyone will experience storms, tens of millions from Texas to the Great Lakes remain at risk.

The threat arises as a deep dip in the jet stream moves out of the Rockies and into the Plains, creating conditions ripe for storm development. This setup includes the potential for supercell thunderstorms, capable of producing wind gusts over 65 mph, large hail, and strong tornadoes.
A 70 mph wind gust was recorded in central Oklahoma Wednesday afternoon as storms moved rapidly to the northeast.
Climate and Average Weather Year Round in 45218 - Cincinnati OH:
A Tornado Warning was issued for counties southeast of Des Moines, Iowa, based on Doppler radar-indicated rotation.
Kansas City faces a significant severe weather threat on Wednesday.
NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center (SPC) has placed over 3 million people from Oklahoma to Missouri, including the Kansas City metro area, in a Level 3 out of 5 risk on its severe thunderstorm scale.
Tornado Watches are in effect for parts of Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri until after sunset.
Other major cities from the southern Plains to the mid-Mississippi Valley, including Dallas and Oklahoma City, are under a Level 2 out of 5 threat. In total, more than 37 million people are at risk from severe weather.

"Wednesday is when we’ll see the highest potential, stretching from North Texas into the Missouri Ozarks and up to Kansas City," said FOX Weather Meteorologist Stephen Morgan. "In this area, large hail and damaging winds could pose a significant threat."
The FOX Forecast Center noted that while damaging winds and very large hail are the main threats, there is also a risk of tornadoes in the region, some of which could be strong (EF-2 or higher).
The tornado threat zone spans from the southern Plains to the Great Lakes, with the SPC identifying central Plains and Midwest areas as having the highest risk.
Rainy Halloween As the front pushes eastward, storm energy will decrease, shifting the system to a rain event. Cities like Dallas, Little Rock, and Memphis may see a rainy Halloween with possible thunderstorms.
This rain is much-needed across drought-stricken areas of the U.S. currently facing elevated fire weather risks. Fire Weather Warnings are in effect this week in parts of Kansas and Oklahoma due to strong winds and extremely dry vegetation.

At least 16 tornadoes were reported in six states overnight into Tuesday morning.
The twisters were reported in Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee and South Dakota.
The most destructive storm appeared to have been in Barnsdall, Oklahoma, north of Tulsa, where major damage was reported.
In addition to tornadoes, 4-inch hail, about the size of a softball, was reported in Kansas.
A tornado watch had been issued Tuesday morning for parts of Missouri — including St. Louis — and Illinois. That watch was to be in effect until 8 a.m. local time. https://abcnews.go.com/US/us-weather-tornadoes-may-7-tuesday/story?id=109984037
May 7, 2024
At least one person is dead and several others are injured after a tornado ripped through Barnsdall, Oklahoma, Monday night, Osage County Sheriff Eddie Virden told CNN affiliate KOKI. Tornadoes can come on fast and quickly do massive amounts of damage. We lost the roof of our building in seconds three months ago, and water then poured through our ceilings in Grover Beach, California. It took us about two months to recover, and still everything is not back to normal.
That said, does the Bible prophecy a time of major tornadoes?
The answer looks to be yes.
While the terms ‘tornado’ and ‘cyclone’ are not in the NKJV, KJV, or the DRB (Douay Rheims Bible), some translations of the Bible (like THE MESSAGE) do use them and those that do not, tend to use the term ‘whirlwind,’ which is basically what a tornado/cyclone is.
The Bible shows that whirlwinds are one of the forms of weather that God controls:
3 The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, And will not at all acquit the wicked.
The Lord has His way In the whirlwind and in the storm, And the clouds are the dust of His feet. (Nahum 1:3)
3 He sends it forth under the whole heaven, His lightning to the ends of the earth. 4 After it a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, And He does not restrain them when His voice is heard. 5 God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend. 6 For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’; Likewise to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength. 7 He seals the hand of every man, That all men may know His work. 8 The beasts go into dens, And remain in their lairs. 9 From the chamber of the south comes the whirlwind, And cold from the scattering winds of the north. 10 By the breath of God ice is given, And the broad waters are frozen. 11 Also with moisture He saturates the thick clouds; He scatters His bright clouds. 12 And they swirl about, being turned by His guidance, That they may do whatever He commands them On the face of the whole earth. 13 He causes it to come, Whether for correction, Or for His land, Or for mercy. (Job 37:3-13)
God teaches that because of disobedience He will scatter people and use a whirlwind:
8 Then the word of the Lord came to Zechariah, saying, 9 “Thus says the Lord of hosts:
‘Execute true justice, Show mercy and compassion Everyone to his brother. 10 Do not oppress the widow or the fatherless, The alien or the poor. Let none of you plan evil in his heart Against his brother.’
11 But they refused to heed, shrugged their shoulders, and stopped their ears so that they could not hear. 12 Yes, they made their hearts like flint, refusing to hear the law and the words which the Lord of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets. Thus great wrath came from the Lord of hosts. 13 Therefore it happened, that just as He proclaimed and they would not hear, so they called out and I would not listen,” says the Lord of hosts. 14 “But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they had not known. Thus the land became desolate after them, so that no one passed through or returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.” (Zechariah 7:8-14)
21 A cyclone sweeps them up — gone! Not a trace of them left, not even a footprint. 22 Catastrophes relentlessly pursue them; they run this way and that, but there’s no place to hide — 23 Pummeled by the weather, blown to kingdom come by the storm.’ (Job 27:21-23, THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language © 2002 by Eugene H. Peterson.)
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, like the multitude of the roaring sea: and the tumult of crowds, like the noise of many waters.
13 Nations shall make a noise like the noise of waters overflowing, but he shall rebuke him, and he shall flee far off: and he shall be carried away as the dust of the mountains before the wind, and as a whirlwind before a tempest.
14 In the time of the evening, behold there shall be trouble: the morning shall come, and he shall not be: this is the portion of them that have wasted us, and the lot of them that spoiled us. (Isaiah 17:12-14, DRB)
The following is telling of a time when at least some of the descendents of Ephraim (currently dominating lands such as the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) will face a major destruction from a tornado:
15 Even though Ephraim ran wild, the black sheep of the family.
“God’s tornado is on its way, roaring out of the desert. It will devastate the country, leaving a trail of ruin and wreckage. The cities will be gutted, dear possessions gone for good. 16 Now Samaria has to face the charges because she has rebelled against her God: Her people will be killed, babies smashed on the rocks, pregnant women ripped open. (Hosea 13:15-16, THE MESSAGE)
In the above, notice that Samaria is also affected. This seems to be a reference to the ‘melting pot’ of the USA (Samaria was a melting pot mixture of Babylonians and Israelites).
The following also seems to be directed towards the end time descendants of Israel (Israel, also known as Jacob, places his name on the two sons of Joseph, Ephraim and Manasseh in Genesis 48:14-16):
16 You shall winnow them, the wind shall carry them away, And the whirlwind shall scatter them; You shall rejoice in the Lord, And glory in the Holy One of Israel. (Isaiah 41:16)
6 For from Israel is even this: A workman made it, and it is not God; But the calf of Samaria shall be broken to pieces.
7 “They sow the wind, And reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no bud; It shall never produce meal. If it should produce, Aliens would swallow it up. 8 Israel is swallowed up; Now they are among the Gentiles Like a vessel in which is no pleasure. 9 For they have gone up to Assyria, Like a wild donkey alone by itself; Ephraim has hired lovers. (Hosea 8:6-9)
The passage in Hosea 8 is clearly referring to the descendants of Israel, including Ephraim and Samaria. Notice that they are among the Gentiles and some go to Assyria (end time Germany). There are enough references to whirlwinds and the end time descendants of Israel that it seems like one or more major tornadoes are prophesied to affect them. For more details, see Will the Anglo-Nations be Divided and Have People Taken as Slaves?
The following, presuming it is intended literally, indicates that there will be a very major tornado in the time of the end:
19 Behold, a whirlwind of the Lord has gone forth in fury — A violent whirlwind! It will fall violently on the head of the wicked. 20 The anger of the Lord will not turn back Until He has executed and performed the thoughts of His heart. In the latter days you will understand it perfectly. (Jeremiah 23:19-20)
23 Behold, the whirlwind of the Lord Goes forth with fury, A continuing whirlwind; It will fall violently on the head of the wicked. 24 The fierce anger of the Lord will not return until He has done it, And until He has performed the intents of His heart.
In the latter days you will consider it. (Jeremiah 30:23-24)
The fact that this is predicted at least twice in Jeremiah suggests this whirlwind will be a major event.
Notice, also the following:
13 God’s Message:
“Because of the three great sins of Ammon — make that four — I’m not putting up with her any longer. She ripped open pregnant women in Gilead to get more land for herself. 14 For that, I’m burning down the walls of her capital, Rabbah, burning up her forts. Battle shouts! War whoops! with a tornado to finish things off! (Amos 1:13-14, THE MESSAGE: The Bible in Contemporary Language)
6 And it shall be at an instant suddenly. A visitation shall come from the Lord of hosts in thunder, and with earthquake, and with a great noise of whirlwind and tempest, and with the flame of devouring fire. (Isaiah 29:6, DRB)
30 And the Lord shall make the glory of his voice to be heard, and shall shew the terror of his arm, in the threatening of wrath, and the dame of devouring fire: he shall crush to pieces with whirlwind, and hailstones.
31 For at the voice of the Lord the Assyrian shall fear being struck with the rod. (Isaiah 30:30-31, DRB)
23 He brings the princes to nothing; He makes the judges of the earth useless.
24 Scarcely shall they be planted, Scarcely shall they be sown, Scarcely shall their stock take root in the earth, When He will also blow on them, And they will wither, And the whirlwind will take them away like stubble. (Isaiah 40:23-24)
Thus, though some of these passages may also have a figurative sense, major tornadoes are forecasted in biblical prophecy.
Those impacted by the latest tornadoes are in my prayers, as are those by the deadly truck accident in Mexico (Mexico truck crash: At least 54 people killed as trailer overturns).
God wants people everywhere to repent (Acts 17:30). He uses weather for correction and for His mercy (Job 37:13).
Will you heed the weather and other warnings?
