Thomas D. Jensen:
The Danish electric car Mini-El (later CityEl), nicknamed the "Ellert" was presented in 1985, and produced from 1987. A one seater, with an optional rear child seat, it had a range of 40-80 km per charge depending on the model. It led a rather tumultuous life and production was halted in the late 1990s. It was later continued in Germany where the last car was produced in 2018.

10 Weirdest And Most Outrageous Three-Wheeled Cars Ever Made

10 Weirdest And Most Outrageous Three-Wheeled Cars Ever Made
Making a three-wheeled car will be inherently an odd choice due to the fact there's no practical reason why the car ought not to just have four wheels. Nevertheless, there are several models that actually managed to be awesome with just the three, like the Morgan 3-Wheeler and Polaris Slingshot. However for every one success story, there are numerous more car-making failures.
RELATED: five Three-Wheelers That Were Actually Awesome Plus 5 That We Wouldn't Ride If You Compensated Us
Some of these strange creations just generally are not very good at being cars, plus some are mainly weird because individuals actually bought them in spite of their own design. Often these vehicles are associated with being eco-friendly and electric, even though there's plenty of those that have been created, there are many sports trikes too. Along with so much weirdness to choose from , it's difficult to even know where to start with these crazy three-wheelers.
almost eight Myers Motors NmG
Via GQ Magazine
Originally conceived because the Corbin Sparrow, production of this electric powered trike started in 1999 and finished in the early 2010s. It's categorised as a Personal Electric Vehicle (PEV), although even fitting one person within looks like a squeeze.
Through Enacademic
The vehicle was so strange that it got some moments of fame, which includes a cameo in Austin Powers in Goldmember . The car was completely not practical as it only a new range of 30 miles, which designed its use was limited to town centers. Nobody wanted to be seen within a car that looked like a jello bean, and so it was eventually stopped because of low sales.
7 Daihatsu Bee
Through Only Motors
The Daihatsu Bee was just produced for a single year among 1951 and 1952, with about 300 units built. That makes all of them very rare today, but they can still occasionally be seen at car shows within Japan. Most of the units sold had been used as taxis, as Japan's laws at the time meant three-wheelers compensated less taxes.

Via Wikimedia Commons
Among the public, the car was very unpopular, therefore the car was only on sale to get a year. It was a very odd selection for Daihatsu to put into creation as labor was so intense to make the Bee that the company failed to even make any money on the devices they did sell.
6 Citycom CityEl
Through Wikimedia Commons
Originally designed in Denmark, the particular CityEl is now made by Citycom within Germany. Strangely the car is still within production, although how many units the business has sold is a mystery. Really another almost completely unnecessary car , as it can only achieve a top speed of around 39 mph.
Via Wikimedia Commons
It's also highly dangerous to drive if it's windy as it could so light it can tip more than if driven over 30 with. It seems the only real use for it would be to queue round tightly-packed European town centers, which raises the question: really want to just walk? It'll certainly become cheaper and a lot less uncomfortable than driving one of these.
5 Campagna T-Rex
Through YouTube/Saabkyle04
This particular Canadian creation has been on sale constantly since the early '90s, although monetary difficulties briefly stopped production within 2004. Apart from that, the car has been strangely enough popular, both in its home market associated with Canada and in the Middle East.
Via Chicago Motor Cars
The T-Rex sources power from a BMW motorcycle engine that generates 160hp, which makes the car frighteningly fast given its meager weight. Possibly its buyers want the speed of a bike without learning how to trip one, or maybe they just like how weird it is. Either way, manufacturing shows no sign of preventing any time soon.
4 Relationship Bug
Via Auto Communicate
The Connection Bug was produced in conjunction along with Reliant, the British company most famous for their Robin three-wheeler . Production began in 1970 plus 2, 270 examples rolled from the line before the car was axed in 1974. As weird because they look, they're still a cult favorite in the UK today, and can be seen at local car shows nationwide.

Via Car-From-UK
It was marketed as being just like a go-kart to drive with acceleration which was actually reasonable for a sports car from the era. The car was a moderate product sales success but found it could not compete with more traditional four-wheeled sports vehicles like the Lotus Seven. The car is mainly weird just because it was actually the surprisingly competent novelty sports car, mostly of the three-wheelers to be genuinely fun to operate a vehicle.
3 ZAP Xebra
Via San Francisco Citizen
Design-wise, the Xebra is so strange it's cringe-worthy. Amazingly, this three-wheeler was an American style with a pickup truck variant as well . Launched by the ZAP Company in 2006, it had a max speed of 38 mph and a selection of 40 miles in top-spec cut.
Via Pinterest
The vehicle was made in Cina before being delivered to the USA, and early versions suffered from terrible quality issues which includes malfunctioning chargers. The strangest area of the Xebra's story is that in 2013 ZAP had to buy back all of the 2008 models sold and kill them as they didn't meet the NHTSA's safety requirements.
2 Vanderhall Carmel GTS
Through Vanderhall USA
This three-wheeled trike is uncommon in that it claims to be a high-class grand tourer in the company's marketing and advertising blurb. How something as bare-bones as this can be classed as high-class is a mystery, but Vanderhall failed to stop there.
Via Vanderhall USA
The website describes the GTS as getting the "options [...] many demanded by the educated public" plus stating it's the "epitome classy escape". To be fair, with 194 horsepower and a weight of just one, 595 lbs, it's certainly quick. It all just seems a little outrageous for something that's essentially the Morgan 3 Wheeler with a roofing. Perhaps Vanderhall's marketing team chose to call it a "weird toy to get rich people" was a bit as well on-the-nose.
1 THE CAR Isetta
Via Pinterest
It's one of the most popular oddball cars ever, but why is the Isetta even stranger is it had a four-wheel variant that was much less popular, at least in the UK. When the four-wheeled Isetta was first introduced on Uk shores, it sold terribly. It had been only when a three-wheeled version had been made that sales picked up, mainly due to a regulatory loophole that permitted owners to avoid taxes.
Through National Motor Museum Org UNITED KINGDOM
Production survived from 1957 until 1962, numerous British-built Isettas still ambling about at car shows today. All of those other world never took to the three-wheeled Beemers in the same way, but at least within Britain, the Isetta proved that will having one less wheel can occasionally be a better-selling option.
