Clash of the Cubes: Challenge 6

The competitors walk into a large arena recently erected in the Black Room. A large crowd is watching and cheering on from the stands. In the middle, Pulstep stands to welcome them.

“Welcome everyone, to the Clash of the Cubes Finale!”

“I’m your host, Pulstep, and it’s now time for the finale! As you can see, a large crowd has gathered to see the show! Now without a-do, let’s get on to the challenge!”

“For your final challenge, I thought to keep things fairly simple, and to rehash an old idea.”

“This challenge, simply tell the viewers in the audience why you should win. See? It’s an easy thing to do, anyone can do it.”

“Here’s the catch though… You have to clash while doing it. And your enemies are���”

A spotlight opens to nothing. Pulstep’s hand slaps is face, contorted into a look of disappointment.

“oh my god… THING?????”

A person that looks like a mish-mash of all sorts of body parts struggles forward pulling along a colorful roulette alongside him.

“MISTER PULSTEP!!! IM SO TIRED SIR!!!”

“I don’t care. You embarrased me. Go to the spike pit.”

“BUT IT HURTS, I HATE THE love the spike pit! will do~~~”

The guy skips offstage.

“Sorry about that. My assistant Incodeadhirsecrynt has forgotten to get this beforehand. Anyways…”

“Behold, the Roulette… of… Randomness!”

“…This name sucks, but it’s the one I came up with, so who cares.”

“This roulette determines what you will be fighting! It can be literally anything, from your Boss Mans, your corrupted selves, a single rock, whatever exists can be your competitor!”

“…Although I assume the fight would be much less epic and grandiose when you’re just gonna fight a turtle, so you better hope luck is on your side.”

“And if you have any ideas of ‘getting your friends back to their senses’, or ‘fighting the narrative’, or whatever, good luck. I made sure that won’t happen this time.”

“You gotta clash until one side either dies or gives up, so you competitors should give it your all if you still want to be walking after this!”

“The deadline for this challenge will be February 28th.” A month and an extra few days for now!”

“Now, let’s stop dilly-dallying. I’ll be waiting for one of you to spin it. Happy clashing~~”

IMPORTANT!!! OOC NOTE FOR THE COMPETITORS:

Basically, the roulette is the same as BotB’s finale except this time instead of fighting your Cyans, you can make your cubes fight anyone and anything

The wheel is just an excuse for you guys to choose whoever!

Also the guys the cubes will fight will prob just be clones, but you can still pull a blixter if you wanna lmao

either that or have the original watch in horror in the sidelines

The Black Room

The door to the Black Room opens, allowing all four Cubes inside.

What awaits on the other side is a black abyss, devoid of life... except for one.

“I hate all of you.”

A voice that sounds like two voices speaking at once sounds out. It doesn’t sound happy.

Suddenly, four mechanical claws suddenly come out and drag the four Cubes to a table. They’re all seated, and their eyes meet the host.

It’s Pulse, but he looks different.

“I can’t believe none of you solved it. Probably should have seen this coming as basically none of you guys solved the gates.”

He pours out tea for the four, but immediately dumps it away.

“No more tea for you four, I suppose.”

An awkward silence fills the room.

“Oh. You’re probably wondering what’s happening with me. It’s just me, your hosts Step and Pulse.”

“I’ll simplify it for you four; I can’t get corrupted, so Step and I merged to give the illusion of being corrupted.”

“Just call me Pulstep in this form. Now wait here while I get the challenge ready, okay?”

Pulstep hands you back the teacups, but doesn’t refill. He then walks away.

“Oh. By the way, because you four have gained the utmost achievement of doing nothing, you all will be deducted a hundred Cards for the finale.”

“Well, seeya~”

Cooked up some level designs

I rmb I kinda used to be against putting them in my story, but today I changed my mind. Might make some lore of them while I’m at it, too.

We have Try This, Dubwoofer Substep, and of course, the Clash brothers. Dubwoofer Substep’s design is heavily inspired by Pink and Blue’s (or @/ dontvap0rdawave’s) version of said level, it’s a little shameless for me to take some elements from her design, I know-

I did give him the equivalent of a Burn Bazooka from One Piece, though. And those triangles can work as bombs.

things i noticed in my most recent jsab playthrough that u might not have:

- the square starts off broken at the beginning of the game ? like theyre in pieces and those pieces come together to form the player

- the corrupted flowers make piano noises when they first pop out of the water

- theres a part in sevcon where, when the circle in the middle is absorbing other circles, it kind of bounces to the beat every time a circle hits it! its hard to see if youre not paying attention (completely understandable)

- in subwoofer dubstep, the rain from the ceiling actually fills up the level with water (this might be common knowledge but i personally never noticed until now)

- the helicopter leaves a trail of rainbow particles when they fly :]

- in that one part where the square is on a conveyor belt running from buzzsaws, the piles of stuff being shredded are various trees and things from paradise, one of which is the bird cage from the lost chapter!

- the 3 birds from the lost chapter also appeared at the end of the game before the extra chapter was even released

- the pink boss guy has a machine in the factory with the sole purpose of pushing flowers over. this boss is like a middle school bully i love them

- THE BEGINNING OF TRY THIS IS TOTALLY A JAMES BOND REFERENCE AND I ONLY JUST NOW GOT IT. GOD

- i also like that the background in Try This has many elements from the factory in the overworld. ik its pretty obvious. i just think its neat

- i might make a separate post abt this but the boss is very clearly Bug Coded. and the changes to their appearance they go through throughout the game makes me think of metamorphosis. you understand

- like an evil butterfly

- in the lost chapter, theres what appears to be several fossils underground. this implications of this drives me nuts
