Bacta, Burns, and Bedside Manner
Kix/Fem!Reader
Fictober Day 7 of 31
Words: 1,656
Summary: Kix has a lot of talents, but his brothers wouldn't usually cite bedside manner as one of them. That is, until you showed up in the medbay with injuries that needed to be looked at.
Clone Troopers Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Kriff!” you swore loudly and unapologetically as the wire you were working on sparked, startling you and burning two of your fingertips. You were currently wedged in the engine of a gunship, attempting to repair the combustion, but so far all you were doing was causing yourself more pain. There was already a nasty looking scratch on your arm from where you had accidentally caught it on a jagged edge, and your head was throbbing from where you had hit it against the top of the space you were occupying. To say the least, you were not having a good day.
“Are you alright in there?” a trooper’s voice sounded from outside the gunship.
“Yeah!” you called before pulling your body out from the engine and looking at who had stepped into your workshop (Fives). “Just crossed my wires and caught a little spark, that’s all.”
The “little spark” in question actually hurt a lot more than you were letting on, as red-hot pain seized through your fingertips and made you feel like you were holding a hot pan, but he didn’t need to know that.
But even though you were attempting to keep your injuries to yourself, Fives still wasn’t convinced. He just stared at the scrape on your arm (that had started to bleed more profusely at this point) for a few moments before looking up to meet your gaze. “Are you sure? You’re bleeding there.”
“That’s fine, I’ll just throw a patch over it.”
Fives raised his eyebrows. “I don’t think that’s something a single bacta patch can fix,” he said. “Let me take you to the medbay.”
You were all set to say no, that you knew basic first aid and could handle everything yourself, but the pain in your fingertips was only continuing to increase, and you had to fight to keep the tears from welling in your eyes. So instead, you just nodded and stepped forward, allowing Fives to usher you out of your workshop.
When you finally stepped through the doors of the medbay, the brightness and bustle of the room immediately made your head throb even more. You just closed your eyes and stood there with Fives, trying to ignore the pain on your arm, in your fingertips, and on your head. “What’s happened here?” you heard a medic ask.
You opened your eyes to see Kix looking at you with a concerned expression, but you couldn’t find the words to speak just yet. Thankfully, Fives was there to answer his brother’s question. “I walked in to hear her swear and she said that a few crossed wires sparked. That’s not even counting the bleeding scrape on her arm, which she said she would just throw a patch on and be done with.”
After Fives spoke, Kix turned to you. “Is that all true?”
You nodded. “And my head,” you managed to croak out. Kix just nodded and motioned for you to follow him to one of the beds, quietly telling Fives that he could get back to whatever he was doing.
“Alright,” he said once you had sat down on the bed. “Tell me everything that’s wrong.”
You took a deep breath before responding. “The wires burned my fingertips and I hit my head on the gunship before. Oh, and there’s the scrape on my arm, but you can see that pretty clearly.”
“How long ago was the burn sustained?” He asked, and the look on your face told him all he needed to know. He stepped away, returning a few moments with a wet cloth. “Which hand was it?”
You help up the thumb and pointer finger on your dominant hand, and he wrapped the cloth around them, the relief instant as the cool material made contact with your burning skin. “We’ll keep this on for at least a half hour. If it gets too warm, I’ll give you a fresh one.”
You just nodded in response, still overcome by the feeling of the pain finally abated. After that, he cleaned up your scratch and wrapped it in gauze. The feelings of his fingertips gently holding your arm made you feel like you were burning up for a slightly different reason. There was always something about the 501st’s head medic that intrigued you, and you would be lying if you said that you didn’t think he was attractive. All the clones were nice looking in their own ways, but Kix had something special about him.
“You said something about your head too,” he murmured as he secured the gauze on your arm.
“I hit it against the top of the gunship by accident,” you responded.
You pointed out the area to him and he carefully checked you over. “I don’t think you have a concussion, but I’m going to get you some ice for where it hurts,” he said. “Then you can lie down for a little while, okay?”
“No, I thought-”
But the look on his face had you trailing off before you had finished your sentence. “You’re not going anywhere,” he said. “Especially not with those burns on your fingers.”
“But-”
“No buts, you need to rest in order to heal properly, and it won’t do you any good to go back to work before you feel better,” he said gently.
You didn’t want to be a burden to him for longer than you had to be, but you did understand where he was coming from. “Alright,” you said. “I suppose I can stay around a little longer.”
After Kix got you a fresh compress for your burns and an ice pack for your head, you ended up falling asleep, hoping that when you woke up you wouldn’t be in pain anymore.
***
When you opened your eyes, you could hear voices, but the curtain around your bed obscured whoever it was from your view.
“How is she?” That sounded like Fives.
“Asleep now, but she’ll be fine,” Kix responded.
Another voice joined the conversation, and you guessed that it was Echo. “That’s good. Rex said that she should stay here as long as necessary and not to worry about the ship she was fixing, it’s not a big deal.”
“I’m surprised you didn’t scare her off,” yet another voice said, this one sounding like Jesse.
“What do you mean?” Kix asked. You couldn’t see his face, but you could guess that he looked a little bit offended.
You had to hold in a little giggle at Jesse’s words, because you knew what he meant. Bedside manner was not one of Kix’s strengths as a medic. He could patch up any blaster wound in seconds, knew exactly what to look for when there was the possibility of a concussion, and could usually tell just by looking at someone whether or not they had fractured or broken a rib, but he wasn’t exactly all sunshine and smiles while doing so. Especially when it came to his batch mates or fellow troopers of the 501st. The better Kix knew someone, the ruder he was when patching them up, especially if they had sustained the injury doing something dumb. You had escorted a few troopers to the medbay yourself (one time after a game of hide and seek got out of hand), and watched as Kix teased his brothers while he helped them with their injuries.
But he was never like that with you. The harshest he had been was when you tried to get up and go back to work, and you wondered why that was as Fives responded to Kix’s earlier question.
“Come on Kix,” he said. “We get injuries and you call us di’kuts all the time, but suddenly now your bedside manner gets a makeover?”
“It’s because he likes her,” Jesse cut in. Well, that certainly piqued your interest.
“Jesse!”
“What? It’s true, isn’t it?”
But before Kix could confirm or deny the accusations, you sneezed (at the worst kriffing time for it). Conversation stopped and the curtain was pulled away, revealing Kix, Fives, Echo, and Jesse, all staring at you. Jesse seemed to realize the situation first, wishing Kix good luck and bolting out of the medbay, and Fives and Echo were not far behind him.
Kix looked like he wanted to chase after his brothers and strange them as he turned to you. “Is everything okay?” he asked.
“Yeah,” you responded, not sure where to go from here. Do you apologize that you overheard? Do you ask him if what Jesse said was true?
But Kix spoke again before you could say anything else. “Listen, I’m sorry about them,” he said.
“It’s okay,” you said. “I know what brothers are like, I’m sorry for eavesdropping.”
A silence fell over the two of you, but eventually Kix spoke again. “I just wish they hadn’t been so obvious about it, I was going to get there eventually.”
“What?” Yeah, that definitely wasn’t your finest choice of words.
“Jesse was right, I do like you,” Kix said. “And I was going to ask you out to dinner the next time we were on Coruscant, but I suppose the tooka is out of the bag now.”
“And is that offer of dinner on Coruscant still on the table?” you asked tentatively. You really hoped that he said yes, because if this was really happening, you didn’t want to go back the way it was.
Kix smiled. “Maybe. Why, do you want to take it?”
“Maybe.”
The two of you shared a quiet laugh as Kix took your hand, leaning down to place a soft kiss on your cheek. “Yeah, it’s still on the table.”
But before he could pull away, you took advantage of a fleeting moment of bravery and sat up, placing a kiss of your own on his lips. “Good,” you said as you broke apart, love struck looks on both your faces. “Because I’d really like to take you up on the offer.”

spare a crumb, I'll take it
Tumblr media
Pairing: Kix x Translator!Reader
WC: 2k
Rating: M (no smut/spicy content but discussion of sex)
You head to 79s with your favorite unit. Kix walks you home.
part 1 part 2 part 3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kix is going to lose his mind.
It’s been hours, and yet each and every time you get up, his eyes zero in on your legs. He can’t help it. Really.
It’s not like he hasn’t seen bare legs before. But it’s the first time he’s seen your bare legs. (To be fair you do have tights on under your dress, but they’re fishnets; they’re also driving him insane). Part of him wants to strangle Jesse for inviting you to 79s while they’re planetside on Coruscant.
But a larger part of him is thrilled his brother had pity on him because now he gets to see you out of your uniform, and he’s losing it. He thinks you need to wear this every day. Fuck the GAR and their drab uniform; you’re glowing like this. And your legs…
His gaze drops back down to said offenders as you make your way back from the bar.
You’re sipping on your drink, plunking a beer down in front of him.
“Looked like you were getting a little low.” Kix’s face heats up as he glances at the way your lips wrap around your straw. What is wrong with him?
As you slide in next to Fives, Echo snickers at Kix, who is stuck watching your mouth.
“Hey, nothing for me?” he hears Fives ask. You snort, taking another sip of your drink, and Kix manages to drag his eyes to the foam that’s settling at the top of his beer.
“Listen, Jesse was gonna get you something, but I’m afraid we’ve lost him to a Twi’lek for the night. But you don’t need anymore to drink, Fives. Back me up, doctor.” Your foot taps lightly against Kix’s calf.
He jerks back to attention, grimacing a little. He’s a solider, he shouldn’t be stunned into stupidity by you, and yet his eyes hover towards your lips anyway.
“Not technically a doctor.” You pout a little at his rebuttal, foot still gently knocking into his calf. He’s so fucked.
“No fun,” you whine. Kix’s jaw clenches. He knows he’s playing right into your hand, but he can’t stop himself.
“I am plenty fun.” He does his best to ignore the way Echo shakes his head, pitying him. But you're delighted, jumping to your feet.
“Oh yeah? Prove it.”
Kix is being pulled up and to the dance floor before he can process what’s happening. Gone is the safety of sitting at a booth, and instead, he’s surrounded by throngs of people. He can't even cower inside his bucket, as he left it sitting with his brothers' in a shiny set of four on the table.
But his anxieties are quickly forgotten about when you lightly drape your arms around his neck. Oh no, all he can focus on now is you.
The confidence you exuded earlier has vanished, but only a slight pinch in between your brows indicates what could possibly be going on in your head.
“Hi,” you say quietly, barely audible over the thumping music.
“Hi,” Kix answers back, doing his best to gently rest his hands on your waist.
“This ok?” you ask. He knows this answer is important. It’s his chance to opt-out, to deescalate this to something strictly platonic, something professional and GAR approved.
“Yeah,” he chokes out, mouth moving before he can make a rational decision. Fuck.
You just beam up at him. “Cool.”
And your hips begin to move to the music, but you stay pressed against him.
Kix inhales unsteadily, slowly trying to move in sync with you. It’s hard with everyone around (he swears he can feel Rex staring holes into the back of his head, and he bailed on their night out).
So he shuts his eyes, trying to move his body on beat, trying to just feel you and the music. It's some sort of synth-pop from a Coruscanti local that's been everywhere recently. But music aside, Kix feels like he’s on fire when you dance this close to him.
But eventually, you untangle yourself from him, movements becoming a little wider, a little bigger as you dance, lost in whatever you’re feeling; Kix orbits around you slowly, happy to be basking in your glow, happy you want him near.
He’s not sure how long the two of you dance. Surely longer than he normally would stay out with his vode, but he can’t bear to leave your side; the thought of someone else taking his spot makes his skin crawl. So he dances and dances until he aches a little, and he’s rewarded when you wrap your arms around his neck again and lean against him.
“Tired,” you bemoan, eyes shut as your head rests against him.
Kix ignores the way his heart races in his chest, and he shoves down the embarrassment that rises when he realizes you can probably tell. He just sways gently with you, enjoying the moment.
“I’ll take you home.” Again, the words come out before he can stop them, and he panics a little as you still. But then you lift your head from his chest, eyes wide and soft as you gaze at him.
“Really?” He nods, thumb mindlessly stroking your back. You drag him back to the table, where Echo and Jesse sit with a Twi’lek and Pantoran woman he doesn’t know. Fives is long gone by now, helmet missing from the lineup.
Despite the urge to put it on, Kix leaves his with Echo and Jesse, mentally begging one of them to take it back to the barracks. He doesn't want to look at you obscured by plastoid and glass.
“Bye, guys. Kix’s taking me home,” you say, voice coming out louder than you think. You’re holding onto Kix’s arm tightly, and he recognizes a bleary look in your eyes.
How much did you have to drink? You seemed fine earlier, just tired if anything. He mentally kicks himself for not keeping track. Some medic he is.
“Yeah, yeah. Making sure you get home in one piece,” he mumbles, face warm at how openly affectionate you’re right now. Jesse smirks at him, and Kix’s eyes drop to the ground.
He’s on autopilot as you direct him to an air taxi and around the subsequent blocks that are in between the air taxi drop-off and your apartment complex. When you stop at your building, he frowns. Sure, it’s on a mid-level but your safety is of the utmost priority, and this building’s security is not cutting it.
He’s eyeing about 10 different paths a faceless attacker could take before he realizes you're dragging him forward and through the doors of the building. That’s fine. He should make sure you should make it to your unit. That’s it. No other reason.
When you’re at your door, you drag your fingernails up and down his plastoid-covered arm, nevertheless sending shivers down his spine.
“Do you wanna come in?” you ask, your free hand already typing in the code to your room. He doesn’t have much of a choice as you tug him into your little apartment.
He can scope out the place. Make sure the premises is safe. And then that’s it. Back to his bunk.
While you kick off your heels and collapse onto the couch, Kix takes in your apartment. He’s struck by how you everything is. From the artwork on the wall to the colored kitchen appliances, everything feels like you. If he tries hard enough he can picture you haggling for your lamps, and petting different rugs until you picked the softest one.
It’s so full of life and color here. Not at all regulation.
At some point you flipped to your stomach, choosing to watch him silently, eyes all soft and demure. Kix is struck by how intimate this all feels, and anxiety bubbles up inside of him as he feels very out of place. A hard-cut monster bred for war in your soft little apartment.
“I should probably get going,” Kix says reluctantly, rubbing his head. “They’re going to assume the worst.” His tone darkens a little, and Jesse’s smirks and Fives’ laugh echo and resonate in his head.
“I don’t mind that.”
Your voice cuts through the noise in his head, silencing everything. He stares at you, and the way you’re looking at him. With half-lidded eyes and a partially open mouth, you look pleased and in a mood to say things without a filter. Kix doesn’t miss the way you push your chest out slightly towards him. He inhales sharply, throat feeling dry.
Something hot stirs to life in Kix’s gut, and he aches at those four words. You like the idea that his brothers think he’s fucking you. The thought of the implications burns bright and fast through him. His jaw tenses.
“Well I mean-” you continue, misunderstanding his silence.
“I do,” he cuts you off firmly, crossing his arms in front of his chest. “I do mind.”
The quiet sits heavy in the air for a second, and then you deflate, crestfallen at the way he shut you down. Your eyes glue themselves to the floor as you shift your body to try and subconsciously make yourself smaller on the couch. (Kix feels like a pervert noticing the way your dress shifts to reveal more skin). He sighs trying to think of how to explain this to you right now.
“I mean that in the sense that I care about your reputation, as well as my own,” Kix explains, wanting to undo whatever hurt he causes.
“I don’t want them thinking I’ll take advantage of you when you’re not sober.” You seem placated by that, nodding quietly. It’s a logical reason, one that spares your feelings, but it’s cold. Not at all what you had wanted him to say.
And if he understood you correctly, you had liked the idea of having sex with him, had been pleased with the idea of everyone thinking you were together. (His codpiece feels uncomfortably tight). The thought sits with him for a minute, stoking his ego as he basks in lust that travels through his body.
“And if I were to fuck you, it’s going to be when you’re in your right mind and can remember…everything.”
Something white hot and primal has hijacked Kix’s brain, a need to let you know you’re not crazy and the desire isn’t one-sided. He’s left staring at you blankly, heart racing as he lets himself slip into a vague daydream that involves making you squirm and pant on this little couch. Another time. If you'll let him.
“Oh,” you say dumbly, staring at him. Sober enough to put the pieces together, but drunk enough to not string together a proper response.
Fuck, maybe he shouldn’t have said anything.
“Oh,” he says back, watching as a slow and sappy smile spreads out on your face. Well, that’s a good sign. He slowly backs up towards the door, keeping his eyes on you.
“Goodnight, Kix,” you mumble, smiling at him and pushing yourself up to rest on the couch.
He feels a lick of heat rush through him at the site of your chest pressed against the arm of your couch, fishnet-covered legs kicked up behind you, eyelashes batting at him so prettily.
His eyes glide over the back of your upper thighs where the hem of your dress rests against your fishnet-covered skin. He wonders if you’d let him kiss your skin there, if you’d let him bite.
In a matter of seconds, you’ve managed to reverse the upper hand he had, keeping him wrapped around your finger. Good. As it should be.
“Goodnight,” he chokes out, exiting your apartment and leaning on the wall next to the door as it slides shut and locks.
He wishes he could hide in his bucket. He knows his face is flushed, and he can feel his cock twitching.
Oh, this is bad. He shakes his head a little as he pushes off the door, heading back to the lower floors. With you, he forgets himself; with you, he feels like a person. Very bad, indeed.
The noise of the Coruscant streets bombards his ears, making it harder to think, but he’s grateful for the somewhat fresh air. It’ll be nice to clear his head as he heads back to the barracks.
But it’s a fool's errand to believe he’ll be thinking about anything but your lips and that swath of skin on the back of your upper thighs.

There Is Quiet | Kix and Starlight
Tumblr media
UPDATE: This has been sitting in my drafts for over a year. I want to finish it.
This is before Starlight has their daughter (in the earliest weeks of pregnancy, post Ner Adika) after Kix has their wedding rings (spoilers.. they got married!) If you don't particularly enjoy reading things with a pregnancy theme in them, I recommend you skip this!
If this gets enough attention and the other parts are wanted, I'll do Rex and Wolffe to close this nicely. (Especially since we saw Wolffe in s3 of TBB!)
@snippy-tano / @social-mockingbird
***
He's different. You vividly remember the night Kix had come rushing across the street from 79's into your little hair salon, panic evident in those bright eyes as he hurriedly explained what he'd just encountered in the refresher with his brother, Fives.
Kix is never quite the same after that night. He knows too much. He always wears this expression when he's overburdened. It's almost like Kix has resorted to carrying the weight of his cross, unwilling to let anyone else bear it with him, for it is his to carry alone.
In this case, it is.
He leaves in a rush, all frantic and murmuring about how he needs to find Anakin Skywalker, leaving you with nothing but a kiss to the swell of your stomach and a promise to return before deployment.
You watch him go. Kix has always been good at coming home, so you have no worries about whether or not he'll return.
You should have.
Fives dies. Fives dies, and the world keeps turning, because there is no room for the galaxy to mourn the clones when their soul purpose is to be a means to an end. Why would you mourn a weapon when that weapon has outlived its purpose?
Fives dies, but his vode mourn him, and you're left with the aftermath when you catch your husband as he falls to his knees in surrender to his grief in the weeks that follow. He refuses to tell you what it is he knows - and maybe it's better to spare you, to keep you from all that pain and misery of the war - and instead uses the time to lose himself in you.
He always does. Your skin is stained with Kix's tears whether you like it or not. Your hips are branded by the bruises left behind from his fingerprints, and if you could let him consume you whole, you would.
Anything to give him the reprieve your husband is so clearly looking for.
"Kix," You breathe, hair fanned against the pillows as you allow yourself to be trapped in the cage of his body. Your fingertips ghost across the curve of his jaw as you peer up at him in the dimming sunlight of Coruscant's dusk. The impending darkness looms over the skyline. "Where are you?"
And you'll give him credit, Kix tries so hard to be in the present with you.
"Right here, Starlight." He murmurs, nuzzling the crook of your neck before settling himself at your side and resting his palm against your stomach. You're just over five months. It won't be long before you have to bring your little girl into the world, and you're desperately praying nearly every night that the war will be over by then so her father can be there to raise her, to love her. "Always right here."
You swallow the knot in your throat and nod. He says he's right there, but he's not. He's far away. Always far away.
Helpless to fight it, you hold him as he drifts off and you succumb to the tears blurring your eyes.
Your bed, stained with your tears and his tears alike, is a memorial to something you will never get to have again.
---
You see him one last time before Anaxes. Your husband returns to you in the golden hours of Coruscant's day. He's more somber then usual, reserved and quiet as he enters the apartment.
You know what it is. He's found the answer to whatever the burning question is that's haunted him since Fives died in that warehouse.
He's lost to you. He's lost to you, and the thing is.. You've never really had him.
"Kix."
"Not now, my light." You frown as Kix turns to peer at you over his shoulder from where he stands by the window. It may be the only instance in which you've seen those eyes so dark. "Please, not now."
You open your mouth to reply when your daughter gives a hard kick to your navel. Kix turns sharply at the sound of your sudden gasp, shaking fingertips spreading across your stomach as you press your palm deeper.
It always catches you off guard that she's so active.
"Kix," You hold your hand out. "Come here."
Something flickers back to life in his eyes as Kix approaches you with his hand outstretched. He slowly settles it onto your stomach, gasping as your daughter gives another hard kick in response.
"Oh," Kix whispers. Your grin widens as tears shine in your eyes. There he is. You've been wondering where he's been hiding for all these months, and you think your daughter may be just a little too intuitive. She's able to feel her father's despair even from the womb. That alone should speak volumes about Kix's spiral into darkness. "There's our girl."
He bends down low to whisper something to your daughter that you don't quite hear, but you bite your lip to staunch the flow of tears that threaten to fall again.
The moment is shattered by the beep of Kix's comm. It's Rex, as expected, and he's being called to Torrent's barracks for a briefing that will lead into their deployment to the next campaign.
Your heart sinks. You can't hide the disappointment in your face as Kix rises to his feet and cradles your face to bring his forehead to your own. It feels too final. Like it's the last time you'll ever do it.
This once, just this once, you wish you were a soldier trained to fight on the battlefield so you could be with him more. You would sacrifice all that's left of yourself to be able to be with Kix more. To help him, to spare him the pain, to be able to walk with him in the midst of his pain.
But then Kix may have never met you. Had you been bred into a soldier to be the hands of The Republic, you may not be where you are right now.
And you like where you are now.
"I love you, Kix'ika," You murmur against the seam of his lips. "Come home to us."
"I love you too." He nods. You can tell he's trying to convince himself that he will, inevitably, walk back through that door. You both know it's ending. "And I will."
It ends far too soon.
---
The last time anyone sees Kix is in the aftermath of Anaxes. One moment, he's there treating Echo's wounds and helping him recover from the effects of being a prisoner of war.
Torrent's departure several weeks later is what confirms Jesse's worst fear: His triplet is gone. He is the last one standing.
And now he has to return home to break the news to his brother's wife.
---
You give birth without Kix there. Your daughter's uncles are not able to be there to hold your hand, and the only comforts you have are their girlfriends. Dove and Phantom sit on either side of you and hold your hands while you weep.
Less then a week later, almost all the clones are dead or gone or traitors and you are unable to contact your friends. Your family.
All the girls are gone too.
It's just you. You and your little girl who looks exactly like you.
At the end of everything and everyone you have come to love since that boy - that beautiful, bright eyed boy - ran into your salon crumbles in an instant.
And you are left to pick up what remains, because you have to.
Kix would want you to do it for your daughter.
---
This is how it feels to be Kix, CT-6116, Chief Medical Officer of the 501st Legion. You are encased in a cold that settles deep into your bones and makes itself at home there. There is no escape. There is no hope.
You are cold, and you are alone, and you are helpless to stop the one thing that Fives had begged for your help to prevent. You dream about the Jedi. About the clones killing the Jedi, and about the aftermath. You dream about a world of fire and blood where everything burns and everyone must burn with it.
The world you wake up to is nothing like that.
When you wake, everyone and everything you have ever known is as it once was: From dust it came, and to dust it did return. The people who pull you from the wreckage of the ship are pirates who then transport you across the galaxy to sell you to a buyer: A buyer who looks a little too much like someone you'd once known. She's old. Most likely in her forties to fifties.
Your heart aches just looking at her. She's bright. Brighter then any sun, but tougher then any steel. You can tell she was raised during the rise of the Empire. She has to be tough to survive.
But that gentleness she hides beneath that steely aspect is what catches you.
When the pirates finally allow you to depart the ramp of their ship and fly away into the great unknown, the girl in front of you speaks up.
"You look exactly like you did in all your pictures," She whispers, removing her outer jacket to pull out a yellowed photo. It's you. You and Starlight, hidden in the back booth of Seventy Nines during your first date, with her head tipped back as she laughed at a joke you do not remember.
Your eyes slowly shift back to the woman. There are tears in her eyes, and you finally recognize why she looks so familiar.
"Hi Dad."

Kix was going to kill you. You just had to go off on your own to explore the unknown planet you were on didn’t you. You had ended up getting a little lost and it took you a while to find your way back. You may have also taken a couple of hard tumbles on the way. So when camp was finally in view you felt a mix of relief and apprehension. You really liked the boys of the 501st and hated that you had most likely worried a few of them half to death, especially their medic Kix.  As you slowly approach the camp Rex is the first to see you and meets you halfway when he notices you limping.
“Heyyyyy... I’m fine.” You try to play it off when you notice his concern.
“Sure you are, I'm sure Kix would be happy to confirm that that is a lie.” He smirked knowingly at you, earning a groan in response as he drags you to the medic tent they set up.
“Why do you hate me Rex?”
“I don’t hate you General, but you do make sure things are never boring.” He pauses at the opening of the tent. “Well I need to call off the search teams looking for you. Good luck!” With that he pushed you into the tent lightly leaving you alone with the one person you did not want to be left with. Having heard the commotion Kix looked up from his data pad and judging by the look on his face you were in for it.
"Where were you?!” Kix asked, rushing over to you and giving you a once over before guiding you to one of the cots.
“I went for a walk.” You mumble.
“For three fucking days?!" Kix shouts, causing you to look down ashamed that you had worried him so much.
“There was a fuzzy creature I wanted to pet but it kept running away from me...” You all but whisper, as you swing your legs like a small child would. Kix squats in front of you catching your leg before examining your swollen ankle before looking up at you as your words register in his head. You bite the bullet and meet Kix’s eyes which ends up being  a mistake as you can’t hold in your laughter at the look on his face. His face conveyed the message of this bitch can not be serious; they are a Jedi Master. “It was really really cute.” Kix smiled at this and shook his head as he proceeded to work on your ankle.
“You are worse than the general I swear.” He chuckles lightly.
“You take that back, I am not worse than Anakin!”
“Oh yes you are.” He says looking up, noticing a cut on your cheek. Kix stands up and gets the Bantha cream. “This is gonna sting a little bit but it will feel better soon I promise.” He whispers as he cups your cheek lightly with his thumb and applies the bantha cream to your cheek.
“Owie...” You whine, it really did sting like a bitch.
“Shhh sarad it will feel better soon I promise.” Kix soothes quietly. His hand remains on your cheek even after his job is complete. You lean your face into his touch enjoying the moment.
“UGH you too are worse than Obi-Wan and Satine quit it with the heart eyes” Anakin makes his presence known along with some fake gagging causing Kix to jump away from you.
“You’re one to talk, you and Padmé are the worst.” You shoot back sarcastically rolling your eyes while Kix awkwardly rubs the back of his neck leaving the tent so you can talk to General Skywalker.
Tumblr media
You spent 2 hours talking to - correction being talked at by - Anakin about how reckless and stupid you had been for walking away from your post like you had. Your conversation was cut short by a loud commotion outside.
“Catch that bugger!” One of the troopers yells sending you and Anakin into high alert as you exit the med tent only to discover complete chaos.
“What is going on here?” Anakin shouts getting everyone's attention and the commotion stops. You feel something warm brush against your calf.
“What the...?” You look down to see the fuzzy creature you had spent the last three days chasing cowering behind you. “Awww are you what all this ruckus was about?” You ask the creature before picking it up and petting it in hopes to calm it down. “Poor thing did the scary troopers frighten you?”
“Hey! We were trying to catch it for you!” cried Fives
“Yeah we didn’t mean to scare it but it’s not used to people.” Echo clarified.
“Oh really? And who’s idea was this?” You say looking at who you knew the culprit to be.
“You were right, they are pretty cute...” Kix mumbles as he approaches patting the creature's head.
“Now who’s worse than the general?” You whisper so Anakin does not hear,
“You got me there.”

A cool chill settles across your body as a warm glow begins to illuminate Courescant’s skyline. Gentle kisses trail across your cheekbone as wandering hands pull you closer into your lover’s chest. Your hands run across Kix’s bare chest, and a soft sigh falls from the man’s lips. His breath tickles your skin, and he presses his face into the crook of your neck.
“Don’t go,” you plead.
Kix’s heart shatters. His arms squeeze you tighter. Already awake for some time now, Kix wanted to spend his remaining hours hidden from the galaxy, tucked away at home with the love of his life. His breath shudders, and he rests his forehead on yours. “As long as I have a home to return to,” Kix says and looks softly into your eyes, “nothing will keep me away from you. There is never a moment I don’t search for comfort in a memory we have created together. We have a lifetime to foster our love and start our family. As long as my heart beats, it will beat for you”.
Meeting his golden gaze, you breath hitches. Mere moments from returning to war, Kix lays beside you with an adoring gaze as the sunrises outside the window behind him. You reach out to hold his cheek in one palm, and your heart swells as he leans into your gentle touch to then press a kiss to the inside of your wrist. Kix takes hold of your hand and keeps them connected above your hearts.
“You’ll always have a home with me, Kix,” you promise. “There’s only one person I imagine waking up beside every morning. One person who I dream of every night to keep me company even when we’re systems apart. Know that when you leave, you take my entire heart with you, because it belongs to no one else”.
Neither of you know who shed the first tear, but you take your hand from his to carefully wipe away the few he shares with you just as he reaches to do the same. Bodies and souls forever connected since the moment your gazes met. Anyone who witnesses your shared, tender love recognizes the two of you as soulmates.
After a few more moments of peace, Kix finally braves what’s beyond his safe place. Pulling away from your embrace, Kix’s heart lurches as you continue to hold onto him. He presses a lingering kiss to your temple and eases your hands to hold onto his pillow. Kix leaves your shared bedroom, and he quickly runs through the shower. He takes the time to mentally prepare himself and shake off the uneasy feeling churning inside him as he uses your body wash to relax.
It’s only what seems like seconds after he stepped out of bed that you pad quietly behind Kix to the apartment’s entryway. Your bodies find eachother once more as the two of you hug each other, neither wanting to be the first to pull away. Your well-loved sleep shirt catches on his well-worn blue armor as the pair of you sway.
“I’ll be back before you can even miss me,” Kix reassures you. He presses a soft kiss to your lips that’s followed by another. A few more quick kisses soon follow after that make you laugh.
When he grabs his helmet from the entry table and takes the step away towards the door, a cold wave of uncertainty washes over you. “I miss you,” you weakly laugh with tears threatening to fall.
Kix, with a similar expression, smiles sadly: “I’ll be home soon, cy’arika, and we’ll be able to celebrate our anniversary”.
“I’ll count down the days, love. Stay safe and come home, Kix”.
“I promise”.
As the door slides shut, you wrap your arms around yourself unable to shake off the sinking feeling overcoming you.
Nothing out of the ordinary stopped you from entering or exiting through that door in the cycles to come. You went about your life the best you could, even with the gnawing unease. Friends came and went to hang out nights in. Family popped in and out to check in with you.
Until the day you open the door, ready to go shopping to prepare for your anniversary, and you nearly run into Captain Rex who stands with his bucket securely at his side with his hand ready to knock.
Everything stands still as you stare at your boyfriend’s commanding officer. The air wraps around you in a thick blanket, and your knees wobble. “He’s not dead,” you seethe. Yet, you weren’t angry. How could you be angry at the man who looks at you with an understanding expression.
Rex’s heart breaks while he watches you bravely face what you thought was your worst fear. He presses his lips in a firm line and thinks of what to tell you. Orders came through to share what would be easiest to hear. Even the general is concerned about how the 501st’s sweetheart would handle the news, and he thought it better to give closure. Standing before you and bearing witness to a side only shared with his brother, Rex steps towards you and rests his helmet on the entry table.
“We don’t know,” Rex softly admits.
“You have lists,” you quickly deflect, “of every fallen brother. Kix will not become just a name on some casualty count. He won't become another number. He’s coming home”. Your voice shakes as you try to hold onto reality.
Rex shuts his eyes tight for a moment, “Kix has gone missing in action, cy’are”.
When he opens his eyes, Rex witnesses you break before him. He quickly takes you into his arms and holds you close as you beat your fist down on his faded, blue armor. Your sobs drown Rex’s soft condolences and promises to do whatever he can to support you.

Come Here Often? - Part 1
Part 2 Part 3
This was supposed to have just been a cute fluffy one-shot but I got carried away and now there's angst and it will most likely be more than one part.
Clone Medic Kix x Reader - One time Kix saves your life. One time you save his.
Tumblr media
Warnings: Not much yet. 79's shenanigans with the boys, alcohol, flirty Kix being a gentleman
--------------------------------------------------
The first time you met Kix was at 79’s after Boost and Sinker invited you to come along with the rest of the 104th in celebrating the end of a very long but ultimately successful campaign. You were exhausted but glad to be in the company of friends so you gladly accepted. You’d decided to forgo your Jedi robes in favor of a pair of fitted black bottoms and a loose, sleeveless grey top. Jedi usually didn’t frequent the clone bar, but Master Plo always supported any team bonding between you and his men off of the battlefield. The Wolfpack had adopted their Commander into their ranks and you had begun to feel like you belonged in their little family with your master Plo Koon falling in as a father figure to many of the young men who served under him.
You were sitting at the bar, waiting as the bartender made up the drinks you’d ordered for your table when Kix slid into the seat next to you. “You come here often?” A warm voice asks you, leaning his arm on the bar by yours, almost but not quite brushing your skin. You turn to face the clone speaking to you. Lightning bolts were shaved into the short, dark hair on top of his head and a tattooed band of what you assumed was Mando’a wrapped around the back ending at both ears, accentuating his sharp jawline. He’s grinning at you and his brown eyes sparkle with a warm kindness. You can’t help the small smile that sneaks it’s way to your lips as you feel yourself blushing which surprises you. More than a few clones had made an attempt to flirt with you tonight so why had this one evoked a response? It was his eyes, you thought. You felt as if you could lose yourself in them.
“Occasionally,” you answered his flirt, winking at him. He grinned,
“Well then, can I buy you another drink?” You nod and he turns to the bartender, ordering you another of the drink you’d just finished.
“Name’s Kix,” he says turning back to you.
“Y\n,” you reply in kind. Kix grins,
“Y/n. That’s a pretty name. I don’t think I’ve heard that one before.” You blush,
“Thank you.” He nods. “You’re with the 501st, aren’t you?” You question, noting the blue on his armor as well as the red medic insignia on his shoulder. “Under General Skywalker?” He must work with another platoon though. You’d worked with the men of the 501st several times but you didn’t think you’d seen him before. He nods,
“That’s right. You seem to know your way around here.” You grin and answer him with a nod, not wanting to out yourself as a Jedi Commander. Right now you didn’t want to be Commander Y/l/n. Right now you were just y/n.
The two of you were suddenly interrupted by loud, cackling laughter from a nearby table. Several men from both the 501st and the 104th had started some kind of drinking game. Boost caught your eye as you glanced over at them and smirked as he leaned over to whisper something to his brother. You were so getting teased about this later.
“Hey Kix!” called Jesse from the group, “get over here! You can bring your girl too!” You smirked, looking back at Kix who rolled his eyes, his ears turning just the smallest amount of pink. He looked apologetically at you as you started to get up. He put a hand on your arm and you felt your heart race. “We don’t have to if you don’t want to. I can tell them to kriff off. ”
You chuckled and were about to respond when Sinker called you over too, “You coming, Commander?” Kix raised an eyebrow at you,
“Commander?” You blushed and shyly shrugged, "Yup that's me."
"I'm impressed. Pretty and smart!" he complimented you and winked. Jesse rolled his eyes and pretended to gag. Boost laughed, "You two coming or not?"
“Guess we have to go over now,” you teased as the two of you walked over to join the group. Nearly all of them were well past being sober so you weren’t too terribly concerned that they’d remember any of this in the morning.
When the time came for you all to head out, Kix offered to walk you home. You didn't realize it at the time but the next time you saw Kix, he'd save your life.

Awkard! (Kix x reader)
Tumblr media
Part two of Medic! Enjoy enjoy.
Read part one here
Warnings: gn reader, Kix being worried and shy, awkward misunderstandings, swearing, mentions of sex, confessions, short n sweet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"And then you got a kiss?"
"It was just on the cheek, but yeah..."
In hindsight, it probably wasn't the best idea to tell Fives about what happened with you. Well, it probably wasn't the best idea to tell any of his brothers about it. None of them knew of his crush on you, and that was likely something that should've stayed secret.
Should've...
"So, what did you do after that?" Echo asked as he cleaned his blaster.
"I just left! What else was I supposed to do!" Kix admitted, throwing himself back on his bunk.
"And here we thought you were some smooth talking hoe," Fives chuckled.
"We all know that he's too busy keeping us alive to do any of that," Jesse chimed in from his bunk.
Kix sighed again. He really didn't like that stupid reputation that he had. It wasn't even true! As Fives said once, he got no hoes. None. Kix wasn't the type of person to go out and seduce someone; he doesn't even know how he got that kind of reputation.
"But what am I supposed to do? I have to help with training tomorrow. How do I not be awkward? And I wanna tell them that I like them! How do I not mess that up?" Kix asked, annoyed (and genuinely needing advice).
"Don't worry brother. We'll help you." Fives chuckled, mischievously.
-----------
"And you don't remember a thing..."
"Nothing!"
You were frustrated with yourself for drinking so much that night. Your friends had called you the next morning asking if you were okay. After confirming that you were unharmed, they explained that they had seen you leave with a clone in blue armor. They were dying for you to spill the tea.
"I was trashed alright! Absolutely trashed! I don't think anything happened. He was just helping me back to base." You reasoned.
"Well-"
"It was nothing. He just helped me. I have to get to the medbay, bye."
You sighed as you hung up. Your friends were really nosy. It was nice that they cared so much about your safety but on the other hand why did they have to be annoying.
You finished getting ready and walked out into the hallway, the door to your room closing behind you with a whoosh. You began to wander down the hallway towards the medbay. You were silently wondering about what your friends had told you.
You had a massive crush on Kix. And they knew it. Maybe they thought your drunken self would have enough courage to make a move. You burned with embarrassment at the idea. Poor Kix.
"Hey!" A voice behind you called your name, followed by the heavy foot falls of someone running. You stopped and turned around. Kix was jogging towards you. "Hey. I wanted to make sure you were feeling okay after last night."
"I'm feeling alright. Just a little headache. Thanks," You replied. Kix stopped next to you, waiting for you to start moving. "Thank you for bringing me back to base."
"It was nothing. You really weren't in the best shape and your friends definitely weren't going home anytime soon."
"I really appreciate it, but next time tell one of my friends. They called me this morning freaking out because they didn't know where I went."
"I'm so sorry." Kix had a slight look of horror on his face, "I was just focused on getting you back to base. I wasn't thinking about your friends getting worried. Can you apologize to them for me?"
You smiled and agreed. It so indearing that Kix was willing to admit that he'd overlooked something. What can you say? You like an honest man.
You started walking towards the medbay. Kix walked along side you, making quiet conversation. It was nice.
Kix enjoyed the conversation and was happy to see you weren't too terribly hungover. After he told his brothers what happened, they'd told him to check on you in the morning—which he was already planning on doing—and flirt with you. However, he didn't think that was the best choice. Even if you were interested in him, he did not want to come on too strong.
"Well well well, look what we have here." You heard a voice say.
You looked over and saw Xamie, a fellow medic who also happened to be one of people you were with last night. The pantoran stood in front of the medbay with a smug look.
"And here I thought you said that you didn't sleep with him." Xamie accused.
"We didn't-" Kix and you started.
"No, no. Don't even try to deny it. You're looking at him like he just gave you the best sex of your life. And you-" she pointed at Kix, "the barracks are on the complete opposite side of the ship. That's a long walk just to escort a friend."
The two of you were left stunned by the pantoran's crass accusation. Xamie walked into the medbay, refusing to hear any excuses while the two of you were floundering. She was so stubborn. You awkwardly looked to Kix. He was just as uncomfortable, avoiding making eye contact with you.
"I'm sorry," you said, not knowing what to say. "She's not easy to convince. Once she has an opinion, she won't change her mind."
"It's okay," he choked out.
A heavy silence fell between you. Both of you were avoiding looking at each other. It was so awkward.
Kix stepped aside and made a gesture to the medbay door, allowing you to walk in first. The shift was long and the awkwardness between you two was palpable. Xamie wasn't helping. She was pestering you for details, but you were persistently ignoring her.
Eventually, your shift ended. The awkwardness would leave with you, but Kix pulled you aside before you left.
"Look, I'm sorry about what happened. I just wanted to make sure you were okay after last night." Kix sighed.
"It's alright. It's not your fault that Xamie is nosey," you assured him.
"Ah, look the reason I wanted to talk to you before you left was because..." Kix took a deep breath. He was rubbing the back of his neck, a nervous tick. "I like you..."
"Huh?"
"I like you, and I want to take you to dinner the next time we both have leave."
"I like you, too. And I would love to have dinner with you."
"Really?" KIx looked really relieved.
"Really." You nodded with a smile, " I should tell you to not get your hopes up, I don't kiss on a first date."
"Well, you already kissed me last night so..."
"What!?!?!"
Healing Touch
Summary: It's ironic that your soulmate would be the one to save your life after sharing a pain connection with him. After the base you work at is attacked, you meet your soulmate, a loyal, dedicated clone who is willing to do anything to keep you two together.
Pairing: Kix x reader Soulmate AU
Warnings: NSFW, smut, p in v sex, unprotected sex, Kix is a freak, cum eating, oral, lots of discussion of pain and injuries, reader gets a really bad injury, life threatening injuries, blood, brief gore, medical stuff, soulmate AU, bad jokes.
A/N: I kinda hate this one but here you go. A surprise update to this series. I feel bad about not posting anything in a bit so I wrote some stuff. Also kind of inspired by a thread about friends of nurses who say they're a bunch of freaks. I'll let that speak for itself.
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Pain is nothing new to Kix.
Though he’s usually the one treating others in pain, he’s had his fair share of injuries as well. Being in active combat had its risks, and he often witnessed them firsthand. He was also used to phantom pains that seemed to plague him every so often. Pain in his fingers and hands, like burns or the dull ache after pinching your finger between something. There were occasional deeper pains and aches, but after the war started it got harder and harder to determine which ones were his and which weren’t.
His soulmate link, he had figured out quickly after a panicked scan to make sure he wasn’t injured, or perhaps defective and suffering from some ailment they were supposed to be immune to.
It was ironic, really, that his soulmate link would be pain. Each soulmate feels the phantom pain of the others injuries. Though he had avoided some nasty injuries, he still feels bad for his soulmate. Not that they weren’t also constantly getting hurt as well, but theirs were more small pains than anything. In the rare moments when he wasn’t busy, he liked to try and picture what had happened, what they could be doing.
It’s what keeps him sane when the missions get bad, when they go wrong, when he has to look past his brothers' suffering as he tries to save them.
He often worries in the dead of night. What if something happens to his soulmate? Are they involved in the war? What if their planet gets attacked and no one’s there to help? Sometimes he lays there and waits for the inevitable excruciating pain of a fatal wound, or the blinding pain of losing his soulmate. He worries about something happening to him as well. He doesn’t want to do that to his soulmate. He’d watched far too many troopers die, far too many leaving their soulmates without ever having the chance to meet them.
It happens one day, when his worst nightmares come to life.
They had just finished a hard won campaign against the Separatists and Kix was still hard at work in the med-bay patching up those who were less severely injured. It takes him a moment to realize what’s happening, a strange feeling blossoming in his right side below his ribs.
Then the pain hits him.
He doubles over, barely catching himself on the gurney Fives was seated on.
“Kix,” Fives puts a hand on his shoulder. “You alright?”
Kix grits his teeth, trying to breathe through the sharp, stabbing pain in his right side. Had he been injured and not noticed until now as his adrenaline begins to crash? He can’t feel anything on his side, no wound, no blood, nothing. Had he taken a hit and not noticed?
“Come on,” Fives says, slipping an arm around his shoulders. “You don’t look too good.”
He was supposed to be checking Fives for a concussion, but instead here he is being escorted onto an empty gurney by his patient. A droid runs a scan, checking everything but there’s nothing. Still, the pain burns through him, sharp and stabbing with every breath in.
It’s not him.
It’s his soulmate.
Many things begin to rush through his head. Had something happened? Is it some sort of organ failure, perhaps? With the pain where it is, it could be any number of things. An injury? Illness? Are they getting help? Can they get help?
A comforting hand on his shoulder brings him back from his racing thoughts. Fives knows. Most of the squad knows. They trusted each other on the battlefield, and with their deepest secrets. He presses his hand into his side, taking a deep breath. He wishes he could ease the pain even a little.
The doors slide open, Rex stepping in.
“Kix, Fives, we need every able bodied trooper ready for a debrief in ten minutes.” He says.
“What’s going on?” Fives asks. “We just finished a campaign.”
“We’re being rerouted.” Rex says. “There was an attack on a base nearby. They need as many hands as they can get.”
Kix tries not to let his thoughts take over as he rouses every physically able trooper. He can’t think about his soulmate right now. He has a job to do.
***
Kix’s hands are shaking. He rarely lets himself get affected by the injuries he sees. He’s seen a lot, he has been trained to see a lot. Combat medics see the worst of things, and they weren’t supposed to break. They had to be prepared for anything. Calm under intense pressure, stable enough to be quick thinkers and ready to take charge if needed.
The carnage left from the attack is some of the worst he’s seen.
These weren’t just clones.
There are civilians.
Most of them are civilians. Engineers and mechanics employed by the GAR. Clone armor wasn’t impenetrable, but it offered a lot of protection against injuries and wounds. He’d seen clones survive what should have been a fatal shot because of their armor. Civilians don’t have armor. Most of them don’t see combat so there was no point to them wearing armor. Most of them stayed on bases, safe from the danger of combat.
At least, the bases are supposed to be safe.
The 18th Battalion had arrived shortly before them and had already begun locating and treating survivors. They were already working to stabilize those in the worst condition to shuttle them to the cruisers to get more intensive care.
There’s still civilians inside.
Most of the troopers were working their way through the ruins of the base, searching for more survivors. Most of them had been accounted for. Either managing to escape harm, or were already being treated. There were still many that were still missing. Kix knows trying to find all of them is impossible, but they had confirmed areas where there were injured civilians still, or they had heard voices calling out for help.
“This thing could collapse any minute.” Crash says as the mangled roof groans dangerously above them.
“There’s one right up ahead.” Kix says, staring at the map.
Something falls off in the distance, the crash echoing through the air before it settles. Both troopers share a look before pressing forward, stepping carefully. Kix’s side still aches, pain still burning through him, but he pushes onward. He has a job to do. He can only hope his soulmate is alright.
There’s nothing he can do to help.
He moves forward with Crash, stepping around a piece of collapsed roof. The civilian marked on the map is right there, sitting against a piece of still-intact wall. It doesn’t take Kix long to figure out why no one has helped her yet. A piece of rebar has impaled her through her right side.
She’s still awake, wide eyed and breathing shallowly. One look at her eyes tells Kix she’s in shock. She’s soaked in sweat and pale, blood staining her light blue shirt. He kneels down in front of her, taking a quick scan. She’s uninjured aside from the rebar, which has gone straight through her and into the wall behind her.
“What’s your name?” He asks her.
She tells him, her voice weak and shaky.
“We’re going to get you out of here.” He says, the pain in his side increasing as Crash moves her just slightly to check how stuck the rebar is in the wall.
His eyes widen beneath his helmet and he stares at her for a moment. Where the rebar is in her side is almost exactly where the pain is on his side. It couldn’t be...could it?
“There’s no way of moving her without removing it.” Crash says.
Kix sighs. He knows moving her at all is going to be excruciating. He takes a second to assess things and calm himself before doing what he does best and takes charge. “We can’t risk removing it. She’ll bleed out before we can get her out of here. Is there enough room to cut it back there?”
“Barely.” Crash says. “It’ll be close.”
“We have to try.” Kix says.
Kix kneels in front of her, bending her top half forward just slightly, until he can feel the pain of the rebar moving inside of her. He lets her rest against his shoulder, her hands weakly lifting to cling to his arms as Crash cuts through the rebar behind her.
He doesn’t need to guess to know how much pain she’s in. He can feel it. He has no doubt he’s right in front of his soulmate. Oh how he wishes they’d met in a different way. It was ironic, though, that he’d be the one saving his soulmate’s life. He’s determined to do everything in his power to save her.
She cries out as the rebar jostles free, pain radiating through Kix as well. He breathes steadily, trying to comfort her as best he can. The pain begins to numb, her hands slipping from his arms. He pushes her so she’s sitting up slightly, hands cupping her cheeks.
“Hey,” He pats her face gently, her eyes fluttering. “Stay with me.”
Her eyes flutter before they crack open, staring at him blankly. He takes in their color, trying to memorize her face.
“Let's get her on the stretcher and onto a shuttle.” Kix says, forcing himself back into his roll. He needs to get her into a surgical pod sooner rather than later.
Navigating the building is hard as they carry the stretcher, Crash talking to her to try and keep her awake. He can barely hear her responses, and later Crash would tell him she was speaking nonsense. He’s not entirely sure she even knew what was happening.
They get her loaded onto a shuttle, Kix having to watch it fly away the hardest thing he’s had to do. He wanted to be there, wanted to stay by her side, wanted to make sure she was going to be alright, that they got to her in time. He would know if she died, if he had failed.
He shakes those thoughts from his mind, jumping back in to help the other injured civilians.
***
Your head is throbbing when you wake. You feel like you’ve swallowed sand, your mouth and throat dry and aching. There’s beeping around you, and a harsh sterile scent burns your nose. Something flashes behind your eyes and you force them open, blinking against the bright lights.
Something presses against your shoulders, keeping you still as you try to shift into a more comfortable position. Pain shoots through your right side, stealing your breath for a moment.
“Easy.” A voice says above you. You know that voice. “Didn’t think you’d be up so soon.”
You blink blearily up at the figure standing over you. Your vision is still blurry, your mind trying to catch up. You’re disoriented, feeling far away from your body.
“Here,” Something cold and wet touches your lips. “Drink.”
You drink through the straw, cold water hitting your dry mouth. You drink greedily, feeling refreshed as the sandy feeling in your mouth begins to disappear.
“Bacta makes my mouth feel dry too.”
You turn your head to look at the person standing next to you. He’s a clone, you can tell that much as your vision begins to clear. That’s why you recognize his voice. You’re no stranger to clones after working for the GAR for two years.
You press the heel of your hand into your forehead, closing your eyes. “Where am I?” You murmur, not even sure actual words come out.
“On a cruiser, heading for a medical station. Do you remember what happened?” He asks slowly.
You think for a moment. Do you remember? “It was a normal day at work.” You start, walking yourself through your day. “I was working on an attack shuttle. I had gone to grab a different tool when...” Horrible images flash through your mind. You remember being thrown, heat washing over you. Something hitting you, or you hitting something. Pain. You remember pain.
Something beeps rapidly beside you, the clone putting a hand on your shoulder. “It’s alright. The base was attacked.” He explains. “You were injured badly. I was one of the ones that got you out. I wanted to come and check, make sure you were alright.”
You stare at him, taking him in. His head is buzzed, lightning bolts shaved into the short buzzed hair. There’s a tattoo on the side of his head, but you can’t see all of it from this angle. He’s handsome, as you thought most clones were. His armor is painted blue with the medic’s symbol on his shoulder.
“Thank you.” You say, staring up into his brown eyes. “For saving me.”
He smiles softly, running a hand over his head. “Well, it is my job. And I wasn’t about to let anything happen to my soulmate.”
You stare at him blankly, taking in his words. Soulmate?
“You have a pain link, right?” He asks, looking so hopeful.
You nod slowly, still trying to process his words. You had tried not to think too much about your soulmate. Your link had appeared later than you expected, little pains here and there, that blossomed into harsher ones more often. You wondered about your soulmate and if they were alright, until the war started. You had heard about people discovering their soulmates were clones and that’s why their links had shown up later.
You haven't put much thought into it. You were destined to meet eventually, and you trusted it would happen. You had been more focused on leaving home, on building your career.
He grabs a small needle pulling off his glove before pricking his finger with it. You feel the sharp pinch on your own finger, lifting your hand to stare at it.
Nothing.
No mark.
No blood.
You let your hand drop slowly, looking up at him with wide eyes.
“My name’s Kix.” He says. “Medic with the 501st Legion.”
You tell him your name, introducing yourself with your status as a civilian engineer.
“I didn’t think this was how we were going to meet.” He says. “I’ve been waiting for this for a while.”
You nod, swallowing the lump in your throat. You knew about clones, about the rules around soulmates. That’s partially why you refused to think too much about it. You don’t want to be rejected. You’re not sure you can handle that. “A-Aren’t you supposed to-”
“Technically.” He says, cutting you off with a grin. “Most of us don’t follow those rules.”
You stare at him for a moment. “But...”
“If all of us followed every rule, we probably would have lost the war already.” He leans against the side of the bed. “There’d be a lot fewer of us, anyway.”
Your brain feels like it's moving in slow motion. “So...you’re not going to reject me?”
He smiles, shaking his head. “No. Not unless you want me to.”
You shake your head. “No, no. I just...didn’t expect...”
“I know it’s a lot. Especially after what just happened.” Kix says. “I just wanted you to know since we’ll be leaving after everyone’s offloaded at the medical station. I didn’t want to miss this chance in case we don’t cross paths again.”
Right. Their only job was getting you to the medical station. They still had a war to fight, so naturally they’d be leaving off to their next battle. You’re not sure where you’re going to end up now that the base you had been stationed at is gone. The chances of you two crossing paths again is slim, but you were soulmates for a reason.
You take his bare hand, squeezing it gently. You can feel it, the flow of energy between you two. His calloused fingers wrap around yours, and you try to memorize just how his skin feels against yours. “We’ll meet again.” You say, staring at your hands. “We are soulmates after all.”
He smiles, stroking the back of your hand with his thumb. “You’re right. I just hope it’s under better circumstances.”
You can’t help but smile. “I hope so too. I’d be happy if I never had to go through that again.”
***
Your name is called as you make your way down the hallway.
After your brief stay at the medical station, you had been sent back to Coruscant to the GAR headquarters to await reassignment. You assumed you’d be staying on Coruscant, since the war was heating up and a bunch of dead civilian workers wasn’t exactly a good look.
You turn, one of the lead engineers walking up to you.
“I have your orders for your reassignment.” She says, handing you a datapad. “You’re loading up with the 501st when they arrive.”
“The 501st?” Your eyebrows lift in surprise.
“I hear they asked for you directly.” She says.
Your brows furrow. Kix was assigned to the 501st. Had he managed to pull some strings without giving anything away? You couldn’t risk revealing anything, not with the GAR directly involved. So how had he done it?
They arrive a few hours later. You’re patiently waiting on the airfield among crates of supplies to be loaded on. The venator cruiser kicks up a breeze as it lands, truly an engineering marvel. A huge floating city, capable of housing thousands. Ships weren’t your specialty, but you often found yourself working on their communication systems. You had been fixing one in a shuttle when the base was attacked.
You wait for the offloading of troops and supplies, heading into the ship as troopers begin moving supplies on. You look around the hangar, likely where you’ll spend most of your time. Shuttles and cruisers, and all other sorts of vehicles.
You eventually find the lead engineer, getting a tour and introduction to the cruiser. You had only been on one briefly, most of your knowledge about them being learned virtually during training. You had spent more time learning about the clone’s armor and how to fix any sort of malfunction or damage that may be caused. The functionality of their armor is essential, especially their helmets.
You’re eager to see Kix again. You want to know just how he’d managed to get you assigned to his battalion. You can’t be conspicuous, though. Even at this proximity, you still have to be careful. If the wrong person found out, it would spell disaster for both of you.
You’re checking through one of the supply rooms when he finds you. Your first task with the 501st had been to restock and organize the supplies getting loaded onto the ship. It was a typical task for a newbie, since you’d need to learn the layout of the supply room and where things are located in case you need them in a pinch.
“Hello, mesh’la.”
You nearly jump out of your skin as the deep voice breaks the silence of the supply closet. You spin around, finding Kix leaning against one of the shelves behind you. You hadn’t even heard him come in. That was precisely why you weren’t a soldier.
“Kix!” You put a hand on your chest. “You scared me!”
He grins. “Sorry. Thought you heard me come in.”
You shake your head. “I was too focused, I guess.”
“It’s good to see you.” He says, stepping closer. “I missed you.”
It has been a few weeks since you’ve seen him. You’ve missed him too. You’d felt it, the longing deep in your soul for its other half. The distance, the lack of contact had begun to eat at you. It’s easing now with him so close. Even though you’ve just been reunited, your entire body is already relaxing.
“I missed you too.” You say, stepping closer to him.
He pushes the cart out of the way, stepping up right in front of you. You stare up at him, his fingers grazing over your side. “How do you feel?”
“Completely healed.” You say with a smile. “Hardly more than a scar left.”
“Good.” He says, wrapping his arms around you. You’ve never been this close to him before, but it feels right. “I hated feeling you in pain.”
“I hated being in pain.” You reply, wrapping your arms around his neck. “Though, whatever you did to your foot a week ago, that sucked.”
He grins sheepishly. “Would you believe me if I told you that was a box of medical supplies?”
You stare at him for a moment. “No.”
He chuckles. “I’ll tell you about it later.” He leans down, resting his forehead against yours. “I’m just glad you’re here.”
“Yeah, how did you manage to get me assigned to the 501st?” You ask, pulling away slightly.
He lifts a hand, rubbing the back of his head. “Well, I may have told Rex and had him put in a special request.”
You stare at him wide eyed.
“Don’t worry,” He tries to ease your concern. “He’s not going to say anything. None of them are.”
“What did you do, tell the whole squad?” You ask.
“The whole platoon, actually.” He says sheepishly.
“You were the one that said we had to be careful.” You punch his shoulder, the plastoid harder than you expected it to be.
“I think that hurt you more than me.” He says, taking your hand and inspecting your sore knuckles. “But don’t worry. No one’s going to say anything. We’ve all been sworn to secrecy about each other’s soulmates. It’s a sort of unspoken law among clones.”
“That’s sweet.” You say, captivated by his fingers as they gently massage your hand.
“I’ll introduce you tonight during third meal.” He says. “When everyone’s back on board.”
“Yeah, shouldn’t you be out enjoying your shore leave?” You ask.
“I wanted to see you.” He says.
You stare up at his face, at those big brown eyes. “You’re being all sweet on me now, making me nervous.”
“Don’t be nervous.” He soothes, wrapping his arms back around your waist. “I’m just a goofy guy who's never really talked to a woman before outside of a professional setting.”
You stare at him open mouthed. “You’ve never...”
He shrugs. “Never really wanted to.”
You lean against his chest, wrapping your arms around him. “Well, you’re doing a good job.”
He chuckles, the sound deep in his chest. “Thanks.” He holds you for a few moments before letting you go. “I’ll come by the lab and show you around later, okay?”
You nod, a smile tugging at your lips. “Okay.”
He swoops down, kissing your cheek before leaving you a bit flustered in the supply closet.
***
Despite how close you two are, you barely get to see Kix. With the 501st constantly on the move, constantly going from one campaign to the next, you’re very busy and so is Kix. You mostly see each other in passing, or in the mess hall, or occasionally in a stolen moment in a supply closet. You only see him in the med bay twice, there usually for burns on your fingers, things you’ve become almost numb to in your years of working as a mechanic and engineer.
You finally get a quiet moment to yourselves on a long journey from one side of the galaxy to the other. Well, it wasn’t exactly that far, but it was a long trip. You’re glad for the break, and glad for the quiet moment you get to spend with Kix.
He tells you to meet him in the barracks, a place you hadn’t really explored much. You weren’t really supposed to go into the clone barracks, especially as a civilian unless it was an emergency.
This was an emergency, you were about to go crazy from the longing to be close to him again. The GAR wouldn’t see it that way though.
You’re extra careful, slipping in quickly as he waves you over from the door. It’s empty besides the two of you, Kix leading you over to his bunk.
“How’d you get everyone to leave?” You ask, laying down and stretching out. They’re not any more comfortable than the civilian bunks.
“I may have promised to buy the boys a couple extra rounds on our next shore leave.” He says, stretching himself out next to you. He’s stripped from his armor, left in his blacks.
“Another unspoken clone law?” You ask, tracing your fingers over the muscles visible under the tight bodysuit.
“Well, they know why I’m doing it.” He says, his hand settling on your waist. “I just figured you’d prefer some quiet privacy. They’d pretend to ignore us, but they’d be listening the whole time.”
You hum, kissing him softly. “Then I thank you for your sacrifice of a couple rounds.”
He grins against your lips, pulling you closer against his chest. “Just doing my duty, ma’am.”
You pause for a moment, a tingle running down your spine as he calls you “ma’am.” You’ll have to lock that one away for later. He pulls you back to him, kissing you harder. You lose yourself in him, letting all of the stress and fear and emotions over the last few weeks go. You worried about Kix, every time they left on a campaign. You monitored comms as often as you could, for more than just your job of making sure everything was functioning. You waited anxiously to hear that Kix is alright, that he’s still alive and well.
“How long do we have?” You murmur against his lips as he rolls you onto your back, settling on top of you.
“An hour or so.” He says, lips leaving your lips to kiss down your jaw.
“Is that going to be enough time?” You ask.
He smirks against your neck, nipping at the skin. “I’ll make you cum at least twice before then.”
You smirk, lifting your arms as he tugs your shirt over your head. “Is that a challenge?”
“No,” He smirks, hands cupping your breasts. “It’s a promise.”
You gasp as his lips close around one of your nipples, tugging it gently with his teeth. You’re already wet, your underwear sticking uncomfortably to you. You can feel him pressed up against your thigh, painfully hard through his blacks. You’ve both been waiting for this, eagerly anticipating this moment. You wish you had all the time in the world to do this, but you’re lucky enough to even get an hour of privacy together.
You can’t wait for this war to be over with.
He continues his kisses down your stomach, tugging your pants and underwear down. You let your legs fall open for him, his eyes staring hungrily at your soaked pussy. Your cheeks warm a bit as he stares at you, his eyes dark and lust-blown. His hands hold your thighs as he leans in, licking a stripe along your slit. You gasp at the sensation, his tongue dragging over your clit.
You have to be careful not to make too much noise. Anyone walking past could hear, and with your luck it would be the wrong person. You’d get in so much trouble, both of you.
You press a hand over your mouth as he dives right in, eating you like a man starved. He was, in a way. You had put this off far too long. You’d snuck a hand into your panties in the dead of night a few times while thinking of him, trying to take the edge off as you waited for the opportune moment.
Nothing compared to the feel of him, though.
His tongue thrusts into you, licking at your walls as his nose presses against your clit. You curse behind your hand, your other hand gripping the sheets under you.
It doesn’t take you long to cum, his tongue lapping up every last bit of your orgasm. You’re close to overstimulated when he finally pulls away, face glistening in the low light of the barracks. You drag him up, kissing him deeply. He groans against your mouth, hips pressing against yours.
You break the kiss to tug his blacks over his head, your hands trailing down his chest, feeling every ridge of muscle. Your fingers trace every little scar, every little mark. He tugs his pants down, kicking them off the end of the bed and your fingers continue lower, wrapping around his thick length.
He presses his face into your neck, groaning as you work your hand over him. “Kriff, you feel so good.” He murmurs. “Better than I ever could.”
You smile, parting your legs a bit so he can settle between them. “Isn’t that the point.”
He leans up on his elbows over you, staring down at you. “You’re going to ruin me forever.”
“That’s my job.” You say, lining him up.
You bury your face in his shoulder as he eases into you, moving slowly. It’s a stretch, far bigger than you had anticipated. He pauses once he’s seated inside you, making you feel full and connected. You can feel it, the connection building between you two. There was no going back now.
He slowly begins to rock his hips, holding onto you. You wrap your arms and legs around him, pulling him as close as you can. You can feel him deep in your very soul, the connection between you two solidifying. You’re two halves of one whole, one soul shared between two bodies. This was what you were meant for, not what the GAR forced you to do, hiding and keeping secrets.
You wish the war would end. You wish you could steal him away, live a happy life somewhere free of war, free of the GAR, free of everything. A life happy together, where nothing has to be a secret, and you can take as much time as possible. Where you can shout your love for him as loud as you want.
You use his shoulder to muffle your moans, his own groans muffled by your neck. You move seamlessly, meeting his thrusts. You’re already close again, the tautness of his body telling you he’s close too.
“Cum for me.” He whispers, hitting that spot inside you over and over again. “Let me feel you.”
You cum around him, nails digging into his back. He cums with a groan, emptying inside you. You lay still for a moment, simply breathing each other in.
Kix leans up, kissing your lips before sliding down your body. You watch, leaning up a bit as he settles between your thighs once more. You can feel his cum starting to leak out of you, Kix watching for a moment before he leans in, closing his mouth around your pussy. You breathe out a curse, flopping back on the bed as he cleans you with his mouth. It’s unexpected and obscene as he slurps at your pussy, your skin burning.
You can feel it, another orgasm approaching. You bite into the skin of your arm, keeping yourself quiet as he sucks at your clit, forcing you over the edge a third time.
He laps at your folds for a few more seconds before sliding back up your body, gently tugging your arm free from your mouth. He soothes over the mark with his fingers. “You’ll want to clean that.” He says, so easily switching into medic mode. “Human bites can be very dangerous.”
You roll your eyes. “Yes, doctor.”
He pauses, eyes widening as he stares down at you. You file that away too. He leans down, pressing a gentle kiss to your lips. “I kept my promise.”
You laugh against his lips. “You did. And a bonus.”
“I did say ‘at least twice’.” He says, sitting up on the bed. “I’d make it a lot more than that if we had time.”
You grin, sitting up next to him. “Save that for the next shore leave.”
He smirks, patting your ass as you move to grab your discarded clothes. You wash up in the fresher, trying to make yourself appear like you hadn’t just been fucking a clone in the barracks. Kix puts his armor back on, checking both ways before you step out of the barracks.
You walk closely, wishing you could hold his hand, but you know you can’t. You silently curse the GAR and their stupid rules. You can’t wait for this war to be over.
You’re so close to the elevator when your names are called from down the hall, both of you freezing. You turn, eyes widening a bit at the sight of General Skywalker approaching.
“G-General.” Kix says, standing up straighter.
General Skywalker looks between you, crossing his arms. “What are you two up to?”
“I was, uh, having some calibration issues with my helmet.” Kix quickly lies.
“Uh huh. And you had to fix that in the barracks?” General Skywalker asks, crossing his arms.
“Well, I needed to make sure it would connect with the others, and it was easier to just check it where they all were gathered, instead of disturbing them and making them come down to the lab.” You nervously explain. You know he doesn’t believe you. You’re absolutely screwed.
“Right.” The General nods. “That’s very thoughtful of you, not wanting to disturb them.”
“Yeah,” You nod. “They work so hard, they need all the rest they can get.”
“I still have some work to do, so we were heading to the mess to grab some caf.” Kix says, trying to explain why you were now leaving together.
“Very busy.” You nod, trying to make it as believable as possible.
The General looks between you two for a moment before nodding. “Then I should let you get back to it.”
You don’t relax, even as you turn to continue down the hall. Your shoulders are still tense, nerves running high. You had tried so hard not to get caught, and then here you were, getting caught by the General of all people.
“You know,” The General says, making you two stop dead in your tracks. “That’s not a bad excuse.” You both turn, looking over your shoulders at the General. “I might have to use that some day.”
 "I need your help, please" & my beloved Kix?
I don't mind about the readers pronouns, do what's most comfortable for you!
thank you so much, i hope you enjoy this!!
summary: It becomes apparent that sometimes you need to ask for help, and it just so happens that this time the help comes from a handsome clone medic.
A Medic's Touch
clone troopers masterlist
Usually, when someone had a sling on their arm, they would have to ask for help, since many of the things they were able to do before were now significantly more challenging to do. But of course, you were never one to go by social conventions, and you had managed to convince yourself that everything was completely fine. Yes, you had broken your arm, but no, it wasn’t hindering your day-to-day duties.
Except for the fact that it was indeed hindering your day-to-day duties.
Things that used to be done without even a thought were now taking triple or even quadruple the amount of time, but you never complained. It wasn’t pride that kept you from saying anything, but rather a sense of worthlessness that you didn’t like to acknowledge. Things moved fast in the medbay of the Resolute, and even though you had been moved off active duty, you didn’t want to become a hindrance to the other medics who had more important jobs to do.
A large box of bandages slipped out of your fingers and fell from the very topmost shelf of the supply room, heading straight towards your face. Thankfully your reflexes hadn’t really been affected in the days following your injury, and you quickly ducked out of the way to watch the box clatter on the ground.
It made a noise louder than you would have liked, so you knew that someone would probably come running in seconds later, only for you to have to admit that you dropped the box and that everything would be fine. Sadly, your guess was spot on, and you had an embarrassed expression on your face as you turned to see Kix standing in the doorway. “Are you okay?” he asked.
“I’m fine.”
But your reassurance didn’t seem to get through to him, and his face still held an expression of worry. “What happened?”
“That box just slipped out of my hands,” you said. “I’m sorry if I disturbed you.”
“And you’re sure you’re okay?” he asked, completely ignoring the second part of your sentence.
“Yes Kix, I promise I’m fine.”
With that (hopefully) solved, he moved on to another topic you didn’t want to talk about. “What are you even doing in here anyway? Aren’t you on leave until your arm heals?”
Silence.
He was right, but you didn’t want to say it. “Not necessarily,” was how you chose to defend yourself, then quickly adding a “I’m just trying to help.”
“I know, but I don’t want you to hurt yourself more.”
“I won’t, I promise.”
He raised his eyebrows at you, and you knew the expression he was wearing. It was the one he used on the most stubborn of his brothers when they wouldn’t stop by after missions for necessary care, and yeah, you probably deserved to see it right now.
But along with the stare, Kix had another verbal weapon to use against you. “Isn’t it also time for you to change your bandages?”
 You sighed. “I suppose.”
“Great! Then let’s head to one of the beds and I’ll get that done for you.”
“No, I can do it.”
Kix’s stare got even more intense (which was honestly something you didn’t even know was possible). “Are you sure?”
You stood your ground. “Yes.”
You expected him to put up more of an argument, but the clone medic just sighed and put his hands up, following you out to one of the stations in the main area of the medical bay.
You also expected him to stay, watching over your every move like a hawk, but he didn’t. As he walked away, you were struck with the sudden feeling that you would have really liked him to stay, but you did not have the time to deal with all that right now.
Immediately: you were faced with a new problem: the fact that you physically no longer had the range of motion to effectively change your bandage. This would be the first time you wouldn’t have help doing it, and you were completely wrong about being able to handle this by yourself. Kix was nearby, and you could tell that he was trying to keep an eye on you without looking like it. A sigh left your mouth as you caught his attention.
“What’s up?” he asked, feigning a nonchalant expression (as if he didn’t already know what you were going to ask).
“I need your help, please.” Your voice was small, but you finally admitted it out loud.
“I thought you were good all by yourself.”
The look on face was almost gleeful, but you knew it was all in good fun. Oh that kriffing idiot.
“Kix.”
Thankfully, he didn’t push the topic past that little joke. Immediately he started to change your dressing, making sure to take special care around the area that your bone had been broken in, and never once did he do something that caused you pain.
You watched him work with a rapt expression on his face, a slightly furrowed brow as he gently traced his hands over your injured arm. Once the sling was back on, he gave your hand a quick squeeze before letting go, and you were overwhelmed with the sudden urge to get up and kiss him.
You didn’t, of course. But you wanted to.
“That’s it!” he said, as he tossed your old bandages in the trash.
“Thank you,” was your sincere response. “It looks like I’m going to have to get used to asking for help sometimes.”
“It’s not a bad thing to do,” he said, a look in his eyes you couldn’t quite read. “I’m- we’re all here to help you.”
You chose to ignore that little stutter. “I know, but I never want to be a burden.”
Kix smiled. “Trust me, you could never be.”  The doors to the room opened at that moment, and Kix rushed up to help whoever had just stepped in, but it was okay. You didn’t even know what you would have said had you had the chance, but there was one certainty in your brain: you absolutely believed him.
Just Another Day
Summary: Each year, Love Day is just another day for you... that is, until a sweet clone trooper comes into your life.❤️❤️
Clone trooper Kix x reader
Warnings: NON CANON HOLIDAY "LOVE❤️ DAY" stuff and concepts (It's basically Valentines' Day y'all) fluff, dating/new relationship dynamics. Kix is a sweeeeeetheart and that's my hc till i die!
If you had remembered what day it was today, then you certainly wouldn't have worn your red sweater. You would have worn anything else. Literally anything else but that.
But it was too late to go back home and change. You brace yourself as you enter your office tower in the city. While on the transit train, you couldn't help but be bombarded by ads and displays along the way - Constant reminders of the special day it was today. A day that you had forgotten.
It wasn't hard to remember. The corporations made sure of that. Rather, it was easy for you to forget because the day bore no special significance to you.
Love Day was a day meant to celebrate romantic love on your planet. It wasn't meant only for couples, who proudly wore red to signify their taken status - singles got in on it too, as the day was also a fun day for those who were 'ready to mingle' to advertise openly without shame by donning green clothing. Those in more complicated relationship statuses wore yellow to signify 'proceed with caution'...and those who were less inclined to advertise their relationship status always wore neutral colors on Love Day.
So ironically, you trudge into your office, red sweater announcing to the world: Stop! I'm taken. But you weren't.
There was someone. But you weren't together, exactly.
----
Months ago, the 501st made stop on your planet. Their blue and white armor wasn't a completely unusual sight. There were always clone battalions coming and going from the city during the war. Your planet's close proximity to Coruscant and its manufacturing and ship repair facilities made it a popular stop for Republic forces rotating to and from the battlefront.
So on one particular day during your lunch break, you noticed one of them in your office tower’s ground floor cafe with you. Sitting to observe, you saw him for the first time - the man you eventually learned was named Kix.
It took some time sitting there, quietly watching him, but you did gain enough courage to talk to him. He was taking an unusually long time going through the caf garnishes at the cafe. Perhaps he was unfamiliar with the syrups and creamers available for self-service and needed some help. You can't imagine that the Republic provided anything but the basic dirty-water tasting caf available for the clones. You wanted to show him how good it could be.
"So uh.... do you need some help?" you asked shyly, giving him your friendliest smile. Kix turned to you with his mouth full of something to say, but he just smiled instead. A quiet "Maybe" escaped his lips, the warm cafe lights reflected in the darkness of his bourbon-hued eyes.
"That one's rather plain," you had said, motioning toward the syrup bottle next to his hand.
"Really? It looks good though," he replied, turning back to you with that dazzling smile.
This earned a small laugh from you. "Well, you can't go just by looks. You gotta taste it first," you had said, reaching for a stir stick. Gently taking the bottle from his hand, you squeezed out a few drops onto the stick. You balance the thick syrup on the flat part of the stick and bring it up to his lips.
Maintaining his smirk, Kix took the stick into his mouth, tasting the syrup that you called 'rather plain.'
"It's good!"
"You don't think it's kind of plain?"
"Hmmm.. wait till you try this one!"
... and so went your afternoon. Chatting away and learning things about each other.
And one afternoon turned into two. And then three. And five. And then it became a regular thing where you would see each other whenever he was on your planet. And then you talked while he was away.
But you never agreed on anything official. You knew you had feelings for him. But did he have feelings for you? You weren't sure.
----
"Ohh, someone's got a boyfriend?" You hear one of your coworkers tease. Oh the joys of working being slightly older than your coworkers. They always seem immature.
"Yeah. I forgot what day it was," you toss over your shoulder. A phrase you had prepared on the tip of your tongue the moment you realized you had made a mistake in your wardrobe choice today.
You make your way to your desk, and your cubicle mate, Korr, turns when they notice you. Closer to them than you were with your other coworkers, they lean over to you before speaking. "So, are you and that guy... official now?" they ask. "Oh... no..," you mutter. "We're not like that. We haven't had that talk yet," you admit.
You had never had a real boyfriend before. And you weren't sure how things transitioned from dating into a real relationship. So this was all uncharted territory for you. And it made you uneasy. So you never brought it up with Kix no matter how much you wanted to. And you had wanted to since you knew Love Day was coming up. If you had someone this year, it would be the first time that happened in your life. It would have been perfect timing since Kix was on your planet just the week prior.
The work day goes on, and you continue to be assaulted by prying questions from your coworkers. "Doing anything special tonight with your boyfriend?" and "Awww, did he do anything sweet for you today?" and "What do you have planned for this evening?" All questions you had no answers to since you didn't actually have someone special. Today was just another day, you thought. You and Korr work in silence together. They knew you well enough to respect your privacy.
The long morning dragged until early afternoon when you finally take a break for lunch to the cafe on the ground floor of your tower - the place where you had met Kix. Upon returning from lunch you notice something on your desk. As you approach, you see a cloud of delicate blossoms gathered in a vase centered on your workstation. Korr lets you know they were delivered to your desk while you were downstairs at the cafe.
"Curious..." you mutter, thinking this must be a joke from your coworkers.
The blossoms give off a lovely perfume, an exotic scent as beautiful as the planet of their origin. These were no ordinary blossoms. You retrieve the note to see what you're sure is someone else's name. Someone who's cubicle number closely matches yours which would explain the mis-delivery. Who would give you such an ornate gift for Love Day of all days?
You open the small envelope attached to the vase and see a handwritten note from someone familiar to you:
Hey Sweetheart. Sorry I couldn't be there for Love Day. I wanted to give these to you in person. Thanks for making my life special. I can't wait to see you again. I hope these make your day a little brighter - Kix
A warm feeling spreads across your chest and your eyes begin to brim with happy tears. No one had ever done anything so sweet for you on Love Day or any other day for that matter. No one had ever called you a pet name like "sweetheart" before. No one had ever told you that you made their life special, or that they couldn't wait to see you again. Is this what it is like to be loved?
You wipe your tears before anyone sees, and settle down at your desk to get back to work. Korr says nothing because they know you're just as surprised as they are. But you can tell they are happy for you.
And you were happy for yourself as well. What a surprise it was to know that someone special was thinking of you on Love Day, even when you had forgotten. Suddenly you feel a little more confident in your red sweater. Turns out it was a special day after all.
You're assigned to the 501st again. Kix hovers.
part 1 part 2 part 3
sfw but mdni pls <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sometimes Kix wishes you were assigned to his unit more.
It’s a stupid thing to dream about, certainly not something he should be thinking about when he’s on the precipice of sleep. He knows from chatter you tend to see more generals like Plo Koon and less of the Quinlan Vos types, which, rather unfortunately, includes General Skywalker.
It’s unfortunate because he’s about had it with Senator Amidala’s protocol droid. (Whenever the golden droid drones on and on, Kix finds himself envious of Wolffe, who gets to see you more than he does).
But at the same time, it’s a relief, one less person to keep an eye on. If anything were to happen to you…
Well, there’s no real reason he should feel anything more than normal. He knows that, and he realistically knows he’d be fine, move on, and get to work. It’s war. Another day, another casualty.
Kix’s train of thought derails.
You weren’t made for war, he concludes. Not like him or his millions of vode. His childhood was math, combat, and logic problems that asked him to determine the difference between life and death. You got to follow your passion, and dream of languages and stories. (You probably never had to worry about the consequences of who you kissed).
Kix’s train of thought derails. Again.
He tosses and turns in his bunk. This was going to be a long fucking night.
Tumblr media
The next morning is infinitely better. In fact, Kix is elated.
You’re standing at attention next to Rex, and you look as pretty as ever. Your eyes drift over his unit before they land on him. The satisfaction he feels when your eyes stop on him for a second and light up in recognition is embarrassing. It should be studied on Kamino as an example of what can go wrong when a Clone meets a kind and pretty natborn.
He tunes back into Rex, who’s relaying information from the General. The more the Captain goes on, the more effort it takes for Kix to not frown. This planet’s terrain was rough; rocky and steep, full of gnarled roots and obstacles. Not suited for you at all. And on top of that, there's a mountain you all will have to climb.
Fucking typical.
While Kix doesn’t like having to split his brainpower to factor you in, he’s not going to complain about having an excuse to stay close to you.
If you notice the way he’s orbiting you, keeping an eye on you, as you carefully step through especially uneven ground, you keep it to yourself. Kix is grateful for that. He’s already getting enough teasing on the internal commlink, as the transcript so kindly reminds him.
[FIVES: 30 credits Kix fumbles this.
JESSE: You’re on.
ECHO: 50 credits that he specifically tries to make his move while doing medic shit.]
But it seems you’re the one who makes a move first. You fall in step next to him, bumping into him in a friendly manner.
Kix grunts in greeting. The comm lights up as he gets absolutely slandered. He mutes it as Fives demands Jesse’s money.
“You know, you could talk to me instead of just hovering around.” He winces at the surge of activity in the transcript.
“Oh. I apologize, Officer.”
“Now, what has you so focused on me?” you ask in a sing-songy voice. Sing-songy? He's certainly never used that word before...
“Terrain. Worried about you falling,” he says gruffly, face heating up. He can practically hear Fives cackling.
“Oh. That’s very kind of you,” you say graciously, probably to save his pride.
He hums in response, mentally kicking himself. Was he going to need to take a class from Jesse on flirting? He’d never hear the end of it. But if it meant sweeping you off your feet the same way Jesse’s woos his person of the week…
He’d put up with teasing until the day he took his last breath.
The silence draws his attention back to you.
“It’s nice having you back. Million times better than Senator Amidala’s droid,” Kix says quickly, hoping to dispel the odd tension in the air. He’s rewarded by your laugh, and his chest feels warm.
The transcript updates as Jesse goads Fives.
“C-3PO isn’t that bad. Though I will say Commander Wolffe sometimes ignores him if I’m there.” You giggle a little at the memory. Wolffe, huh? Kix frowns to himself, imagining Wolffe standing way too close to you.
“Commander Wolffe may be onto something there…” he trails off. You glance at him from the side, sending him a pleased look that he wished he understood better.
The ground ahead of you two steepens rapidly. It’s nothing for a Jedi or a clone, but an unease settles in Kix’s stomach, eyes flicking down to your feet as you trek alongside him.
The mountain slope isn't completely vertical, and he's grateful for that. He is, however, ungrateful that the local lifeforms built their village at the very top of this peak.
“Well, I know you and Commander Wolffe, are pretty anti-droid, but they have their uses.” He rolls his eyes at that, thankful for his bucket.
“I think having a sentient translator in addition to a protocol droid makes sense. Access to a very large number of languages and automatic translation, paired with creative thinking, context, and interpretation. A decent team,” you finish, nodding to yourself. He would prefer C-3PO with you, as opposed to just the droid. But still.
“You’re smart enough to do that with just a datapad,” Kix argues, taking a large step up the incline. “And some protocol droids are clunky and can’t always move very fast.” You huff, following him up the slope.
Kix slows down a little, eyeing the upcoming terrain, and he has to stop himself from audibly groaning. He just had to be grateful the slope wasn't vertical.
He eyes the cliif warily. It's a short climb with plenty of visible handhelds and ledges before the slope evens out again.
Kix gestures for you to go ahead of him. He’s got a feeling if anything were to happen, it would be here. You huff past him, slowly scaling the mountain.
“A kriffing datapad,” you say. “I guess…” you relent, diverting your brain power to not falling.
It grows quiet again as the majority of the company ascends with ease and continues onto the gentler slope.
Kix’s brows pinch together in annoyance; he somehow missed the fact that there was a fucking tiny cliff they'd have to scale. There must’ve been a better way to go about this. Did General Skywalker and Rex forget you would be with them?
Kix pauses on a relatively stable ledge, keeping an eye on you as you climb ahead. His eyes scan the area you're reaching for.
He notices it before you, but not soon enough, and Kix winces as you grab onto a loose rock. It gives way, and you let out a small scream, as you drop.
Reacting as fast as he can, Kix reaches to grab you. His arms grapple around you, pulling your back tight against him. You’re both upright, with Kix supporting the brunt of your weight.
It’s a somewhat awkward position, resembling a trust fall as opposed to some romantic carry. (Romantic? Kix scoffs at himself) It’s not by any means graceful or elegant, but you’re ok. Maybe a little shaken, but ok.
Keeping you pressed against him, he eyes you carefully, assessing any possible injury you may have sustained. When he reaches your face, he freezes.
You've twisted to face him, and you’re looking at him in a way that makes him inhale sharply. It's a soft and warm look, one that Jesse and Fives are often on the receiving end of. Not him.
Fuck.
It’s at this moment he realizes his arms are still nestled above and below your chest, anchoring you to him. He snaps out of his haze, helping you stand.
“You all right, cyar’ika?” he asks, doing another survey for damage once you’re up. You nod before smiling sheepishly.
“Good thing you kept such a good eye on me," you say gently, hand resting on his plastoid-covered forearm. His ego swells.
Echo’s “PAY UP” in the transcript alerts Kix to the eyes on the two of you from above. He wants to curl around you and hide you away from the rest of his vode.
Based on the way you’re looking at him, Kix begins to think you may want the same thing. And the logical part of his brain is telling him he’s not sure it’s a good thing.
Tumblr media
Kix’s doubts follow him all the way back to the star destroyer.
It was one thing when it was just him daydreaming, but now, it may no longer be one-sided.
It was one thing when he would steal glances at you from behind his helmet, but now, he sees you staring at him first.
It’s become something all too real because now there’s hope he’s not alone in this predicament.
Kix is pondering this development as he peels off bits of crusted-over synth flesh away from his arm. It’s been a tense day on The Resolute. At least for him.
Your close contact with him had made him lose focus for the rest of the mission. He's lucky he was the only casualty of his negligence.
He examines where his wound was. The skin color is normal; any internal or external trauma has healed.
“Hi,” you chirp out, eyes widening a little as you enter the med bay. Kix meets your gaze, instincts firing up at the way your voice drops suddenly.
Your body’s stiff, face twisted into a flustered expression he wishes he could appreciate more. Kix tenses a little when he realizes what may have prompted your reaction.
His blacks hang at his waist, leaving the upper half of his body exposed. He watches as your eyes dip down to his pecs before jumping to hover respectfully above his shoulder.
Interesting.
Kix flexes a little, chest expanding in pride.
“I just wanted to say thank you. For, uh, y'know...” you trail off. Your eyes zero in on his bicep, eager for a topic change. “And sorry you tripped. Are you alright?” Fucking hell.
All Kix wants is for a hole to open up in the side of the ship and pull him into the vacuum of space. (You would remain safe in this little morbid fantasy. Space and the Force are able to sense your innate goodness thereby saving you from his fate).
Kix settles on nodding, not wanting to discuss his embarrassing fall at the village. His brothers would never let him forget.
You shuffle forward until you’re right by him, fingers hovering above where the synth flesh had dried. “May I?” you ask.
He nods, bracing his arm for the soft touch of your hand. Your fingers are light as they ghost over his skin; he nearly groans at the faint contact.
Kix’s eyes jump to your face; your mouth's twisted up in a grimace as you closely inspect his arm. He smirks a little at your concern.
“Hey,” he says, voice soft, as if he’s trying not to spook you. “I'm alright, cyar'ika. I was just stupid. Distracted because I couldn't help but worry about you all day." You look embarrassed at his minor confession, but then the same soft look you had when he caught you comes back, and Kix's heart thumps heavily.
He wants nothing more than to kiss you, to feel you pressed against his bare skin. Would you look at him like you are now? Like he’s not just CT-6116?
Your hand drifts from his arm to the side of his head. The feeling of your fingers dragging along his scalp makes him shut his eyes and suppress a shiver. Some soldier he is; reduced to a pile of mush the second you touch him.
It tickles slightly, as you trace the patterns of his buzzed hair. But he would never ask you to stop; it feels too nice. The pad of your finger sweeps over his tattoo. His eyes feel heavy as they open, and his chest aches at how close you are.
"Thank you," you whisper again, eyes boring into him as if you're trying to say something else. He really wants to kiss you.
The sound of footsteps echoing towards the med bay wretches him from his own personal paradise.
Kix backs away from you and your wandering hands. He swallows loudly, and your gaze meets the floor as you deal with your own embarrassment. “Anytime, Officer. Please be more careful. The GAR would be worse off without you.” Kix is pretty sure the GAR would be fine without either of you, but he’s hoping you can tell what he wants to say. (He would be worse off without you).
You nod and keep your eyes on the ground until Hardcase enters, drawing your attention. He looks at the two of you, mouth open in surprise.
“I was wondering if you could check something out…” he trails off, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head. You spring into action, taking the opportunity to flee.
“I’ll leave you to it.” You give Hardcase a warm smile, any nerves you had seemingly evaporating. Before you exit, you look over your shoulder, finally looking at Kix again. “Bye.”
He nods at you in dismissal and tries his best to ignore how your departing gaze fluttering across his chest and biceps makes his codpiece feel too tight. The silence lingers in the air, as he looks at the door, wondering if he should up his chest routine when they're back on Coruscant.
“I can come back later, sir.” Hardcase's lip twitches. "Echo and Jesse are debating what entails "medic shit," and I'd like to weigh in."
“Shut up, Hardcase.”
Congratulations on 300 followers! 🫶🏻 Thank you so much for doing these requests as well, it's such a good idea! I would like 👄 (man, prequel, can be either NSFW or SFW, whatever is easier for you!), 😎 (either, prequel), and ❤️ (either, prequel) pls!
My name is Molly, I'm 20 years old, and my pronouns are she/her. Some of my favorite planets are Naboo, Alderaan, Coruscant, Kamino, and Shili. I'm quite tall (5'9") with thin build, and I have light brown/dark blonde hair and hazel eyes. I'm quite shy in the beginning and have social anxiety, but once you get to know me, I start to open up more. I like older music ('60s and '70s stuff) and I'm not a picky eater. I'm much better with literature/language/writing/philosophy/history/humanities than math and science. I love researching music history, and I also play three instruments (piano, guitar, and drums). Sorry if this is too much lol! Thanks again :)
MOLLY BABE!! Thank you so much for requesting!! I hope the start of the new year has been okay for you!
Ship request 👄
I know you're a Cody girl (which, same), but I truly ship you so much with Kix! You have just such a warm presence that I think Kix would absolutely relish in after a hectic mission or day with the 501st. Kix is more of a scientific mind than a artistic mind, but I can see the both of you having a wonderful date at a nature and science museum!! And I can envision you introducing him to music like the (space) Jackson 5, Queen, the Bee Gees, the Beatles, ABBA. (Kix is an absolute fanboy for Space!ABBA). He'd also be so amazed at how you can play three instruments! Kix would also be completely understanding that you're a little socially anxious, and would never push you into situations you're not comfortable with, like a rowdy night at 79's with his brothers (they can be a lot even for him lol). Overall, I think you and Kix would be super cute!!
Kix could feel tension leaving his body as he stepped over the threshold and into your home. He felt like he was cocooned in warmth and comfort as soon as the door had slid shut. Not much had changed here, it seemed. That looked like a new blanket thrown over the couch, and your guitar case was open on the floor, like you'd just recently played it. But the home still looked the same. Still smelled the same. Like freshly done laundry and linen. A calming scent. A stark difference from the usual sharpness of bacta and blaster cleaner that lingered in his nose while deployed. Still felt the same. Light, open, welcoming. Like home. Kix could hear music playing, a smile growing unbidden as he recognized it. Straining to listen, Kix could hear you puttering around in your bedroom. So he simply began to remove his armor, efficiently, but langorously. He was home now. There was no rush. His hair had gotten longer, Kix noticed, running a bare hand over his head. He wondered if he should just let it grow, or if he should buzz it back into its usual pattern. But again, there was no rush. He didn't have to decide now. Kix was just finished stacking his armor into a neat pile in the basket by your door when you emerged from the bedroom. As gorgeous as ever. And Kix felt his heart skip a beat. "Kix!" You rushed to him, throwing your arms around him with a happy, surprised laugh. "I didn't expect you until tonight!" "I got finished early and wanted to surprise you." "You didn't pawn your paperwork off on Coric, did you?" Kix chuckled. The thought had crossed his mind. "No, mesh'la." The music was still playing. An upbeat tune that made him feel unburdened and airy. It melted away the stress from his shoulders as easily as you did. Kix held out his hand. "Dance with me?" "Kix!" He didn't wait for your answer, smiling cheekily as he snagged you and brought you right to his chest. And it was as you burst into happy laughter, letting Kix swing you around the living room, that it fully sank in: He was home.
I can envision you and Fives absolutely being besties! Maybe not at first, because Fives is a lot even when he's not actively being chaotic, but after getting to know each other, breaking past the initial awkwardness of meeting people, I can really see the two of you hitting it off! Fives drags you on random adventures, forcing you out of your shell. But it's usually something you have interest in: a new restaurant, a coffee shop concert, the Space Rock n Roll Hall of Fame lol. Fives' spontaneity is so refreshing for you. And you love introducing him to new foods (I think Fives would be a foodie if he had the time and opportunity).
"What is this place?" You knew it didn't look like much, but you could swear on your life that this place had the best pastries this side of the galaxy. You had found it on accident, but it turned out to be quite a happy one. You had to limit yourself coming here so as not to spend all your money and eat only treats for meals. "It's one of my favorite places." You had dreams about their toffee cookies. You snorted with laughter as you walked inside and saw Fives' eyes practically glaze over with hunger and happiness. The smell of a bakery was so comforting. And you knew Fives rarely got to eat much other than the GAR-issue rations. As always, the place was bustling with activity - one employee was boxing up what looked like four dozen or so cookies while another was ringing up a customer pointing at lemon blondies. Several people were sat around the place, munching on pastries and desserts with empty latte mugs before them. "I could die today and be happy." "Same." "How do you choose what to get?? It all looks so good!" You laughed. "With a great deal of agony." Fives looked at you, and without needing to say it, you could see how much he appreciated you showing him this place. How much it meant to him to be introduced to all the things the Kaminoans deprived him and his brothers of. "Come on," he said, straightening like this was an important mission. The smile on his lips belayed the seriousness of his posture. "If I don't fall into a sugar coma after this I will have considered this outing a failure." You followed him to the counter, laughing.
Family request ❤️
Tumblr media
For your found family, I couldn't help but picture Omega! This little girl has spent her entire life on Kamino with a strict instructor and barely any time for what the Kaminoans would likely call "frivolity." This endlessly curious girl learns that you can play different instruments and has a thousand questions about it. She asks you what Naboo is like, what it's like to see so many plants, to bask in the sunshine. She starts asking about your favorite books and wants you to read them all to her. Plus, you're a rare female presence in her life and that makes her adore you even more. And it becomes hard to not feel like a big sister to her.
It was an absolutely beautiful day on Naboo - sun shining, breeze light and cool, sky blue with lots of fluffy clouds. And Omega was having a ball. In fact, you could barely get her to sit still long enough to get her shoes on before she darted away to sprint through the fields. Speaking of shoes... She was no longer wearing them. She'd kicked them off so she could freely wiggle her toes in the grass. She would never get used to it. It tickled!! It was alive! It was so soft! And warm! Absolutely nothing like the cold, white halls of Kamino. You could only smile and shake your head fondly. That girl. Though you supposed you couldn't blame her. You yourself were so endlessly fond of Naboo. Few places were so beautiful. Omega called your name, grinning so big and wide you wondered if it hurt. "Did you bring the stuff?" As if you could forget. When you'd promised to one day take Omega for a picnic on Naboo, she had been so excited. And impatient. And now that it was finally happening, she couldn't contain herself. You smiled, holding up the basket and book you were reading together. "You mean this stuff?" Omega beamed, and helped you spread the picnic blanket. Naboo was calm and peaceful as her giggles echoed across the fields, and you couldn't help it. You giggled too. "You ready?" you asked, cracking the book open. Omega nodded quickly, mouth already full of the Mantell you'd mixed. Laughing, you began to read.
