IT WAS SO GOOD!
I was SO expecting her to die, because that's what always happens right? The undercover character is found out and killed and then used as cheap angsty motivation for the other characters. But that DOESN'T HAPPEN. She can see it coming. She's a trained agent, she can handle herself, and she DOES. There is NO fridging for this girl. And the scene where she disappears into the crowd by virtue of just. taking off her clown makeup. It's the BEST. Top fucking tier. She gets to stay in the plot but you still have her lose her secret identity and she has to get a new one and it STICKS and it MATTERS but she gets to move forward. UGHH i'm obsessed

I love so much how no beat goes un-echoed.

This story really, really rewards astute observation. Nothing feels placed unintentionally. Even if it is, and I'm sure that's true for a fair portion of the story because that's just kind of what the creative process is like, the whole thing is so absolutely sure of what its trying to say that nothing ever ends up feeling out of place. It echoes because its consistent, all the way through.

The mark of a great comic (or any piece of media) is its ability to suck you in. At the beginning of Clown Corps you'll be like "haha the clowns chase down criminals with pies that's soooooo goofy" and then by the end you're like,
"Binky hates authority but has a clear need for control. If it were just about the pursuit of justice, he would have swallowed his pride sooner when let in to the loop with Snow Queen and Oats. It's important to contrast him to Squeaky, who likewise has problems with authority but has no such need for control. That being said, as the corps acts a metaphor for 'the system', Squeaky can be criticized as a reformist, although Binky's moral inflexibility has so far only hampered his ideals..."
and you barely even notice the switchover point.

I would be so pissed if McBell ended up regressing and going back to burglary after all her character development, but it would be so fucking funny if she used that chance to set them up and get her revenge. Turnabout and fair play and whatnot. Seems on brand for her.

I only now noticed, after following the Webcomic for I dunno how many months, that if you hover your pointer over the images there's a little flavor text on every page. Guess I'll just HAVE to reread all of Clown Corps now to see em all ┐( ̄∀ ̄)┌
