I’ve mentioned a few times that the Detective Club doesn’t seem to have any named members outside Logico and the Murdle Jr. kids (Irratino, I HC as an associate instead of a full member, and I sincerely doubt they’d let any of the suspects save maybe Obsidian in :P). So! Have some OCs to fill out the ranks.

Journalist Jade

5’5, Right-Handed, Brown Eyes, Black Hair, Aquarius

Jade is a 30-year old investigative journalist, taking to the streets to look for headliners and expose crimes for all the world to see. She’s passionate and can be a bit reckless in her pursuit of a big story, but she’s overall a nice person. She’s also the one who originally invited Logico to the Detective Club (in my mental list of Stories I Want To Write Someday, one of them is how Logico became part of the Detective Club—TL;DR, he wound up working with Jade to expose some criminals and she gave him the invite shortly thereafter), and might have had a bit of a crush on him—he’s fairly handsome despite his overall scruffiness, and they worked well together—but obviously, that went nowhere on account of Logico being both not into women and also a major-league jerk pre-Volume 1 :P

Overall, I’d say Jade’s drawing turned out the best; the design was nice, and translated into my artstyle rather well. I accidentally drew her hair a lot shorter than I’d originally intended, and I completely forgot the camera until I was already outlining and had to hastily add it in, but I’d say it all worked out in the end. Her style suits her ^^

Forensic Analyst Bella

5’3, Left-Handed, Brown Eyes, Red Hair, Gemini

Bella is 26, yet in many ways, she acts like a high school popular girl; chatty, fashionable, gossipy, phone-obsessed, and just a bit mean. One would think someone like that would have no place in the Detective Club, but Bella graduated valedictorian of her college and is a known forensics expert. She can tell you when someone died and what poison was used to kill them as easily as she can tell you whether or not your shoes are “in” this summer.

Bella was actually the first Detective Club OC I designed; the forensics part came later, to give her more an identity beyond “Detective Club member”. I like her sunglasses, and her being the only one who carries a walkie-talkie in addition to a phone; ya gotta be prepared when solving crimes. (Oh, and in case you’re thinking I broke the color name rule…I didn’t. Yeah, maybe using a color named by a paint company is cheating, but oh well. I was originally going to use magenta, but then I figured I should probably pick a color less likely to be given to a canon character ^^;)

IT Guy Auburn

5’8, Right-Handed, Brown Eyes, Red Hair, Virgo

Auburn used to work for TekCo, before leaving the company following an “incident” he doesn’t talk about; at 29, he’s just a year younger than its current CEO. While introverted and socially awkward at the best of times, he’s a whiz with computers; if the mystery leaves some digital footprints behind, you go to him. (That his skills are upstaged by a detective in the junior group—the daughter of that aforementioned CEO, no less—is something Auburn awkwardly avoids acknowledging.)

Okay, so I found quite a few color codes for “auburn”; I wound up picking the most common two and using them for his headphones and jacket respectively, which is probably the best compromise I could’ve made ^^; I think I got the “tech guy” look down pretty well, even if he does look a bit more like a gamer than anything else. (I’m sure Olivia would beat him in that regard too :P)

Socialite Vanille

5’0, Right-Handed, Blue Eyes, Blonde Hair, Pisces

At 23, Vanille is one of the Detective Club’s younger members, and also one of its few wealthy members. She comes from high society, and looks and acts the part. Some look down on her as just a rich kid with no actual skills. Vanille simply smiles, because social skills—telling people what they want to hear, getting them to trust you, figuring out who you can and can’t trust yourself—get you very far in an investigation. (Someone should let Logico know that :P)

Vanille’s design admittedly didn’t translate as well as everyone else’s did, mostly because I didn’t actually realize the color of her hair and jacket were so close. And also because after three drawings of decent hands, I got cocky and thought I could do a complicated pose with her hat. Don’t be like me, kids :V I do still like her, though. She’s the first character I’ve ever drawn in a skirt or dress XD And yes, as her name implies, she is French. You can get a surprising amount of OCs through translating colors into foreign languages (looks at Logico’s maternal relatives).

Codebreaker Clover

5’6, Left-Handed, Gray Eyes, Blonde Hair, Scorpio

Clover is 31 (though you’d be forgiven for thinking he was younger), brilliant with cryptography, and kind of a wreck. No one really knows what made him so twitchy and paranoid, or where he learned his codebreaking skills, though some believe the two things are connected. Clover himself thinks everything is connected; everything has a purpose, everything is part of some plan, and everyone is somehow involved. His conspiracy theories are legendary throughout the club, and most of them are known to be complete nonsense. (The rest…well, maybe it’s best not to dig too deep.)

Like Bella, Clover originally had another name—Cyan—before, again, I changed it to one less likely to be used in canon. He also had a couple different titles—first Conspiracist when I wanted to emphasize the “wild paranoiac conspiracy theorist” thing, then Cryptographer when I settled on what he actually did, then Codebreaker because Cryptographer was too similar to Cloud’s title :P He also has the most complicated pair of glasses I’ve ever drawn. I think they came out nicely ^^

Parapsychologist Pitch

5’5, Left-Handed, Green Eyes, Black Hair, Sagittarius

Nobody’s quite sure what Pitch does. Or, frankly, what they’re doing here. 27 years old, they have a love for the macabre and a fascination with the paranormal, and every case they take is some flavor of spooky. One would think they’d fit in better with the Investigation Institute, but they just say they like hands-on experience more than sitting in a chateau doing experiments. They’re fairly chill outside that, if enigmatic at the best of times; they might be playing up their strange behavior to spook people, though. You can never really tell with Pitch.

Pitch originated as an Investigation Institute OC, before I decided I liked the Institute’s actual characters better and repurposed them for the Detective Club :P I do really like their design, though. I love their dyed hair and eyeliner (yes, the points on their eyes are meant to represent eyeliner) and goth outfit. Fun fact: The words on their shirt, if you can’t read it, are “Cinematic Anarchy”. Yes, it is a band shirt. Yes, I came up with that name myself. And yes, it is very edgy :P

Anyway, that’s my characters, they aren’t Logico’s friend group because Logico barely has any friends but they do fill empty space where the rest of the Detective Club is, so. There’s that :P

Can you believe this is the first digital ref Codebreaker's gotten since i made them 7 years ago. Insane. Also I ran out of room on the ref to note it but when they get super stressed out their glitches get worse and they get marks on their face and hands like Gaster has.

(For simplicity's sake I'm just going to be referring to them as Codebreaker and by they/them throughout this bio, but Codebreaker and Frisk can be used interchangeably as their name, and while they prefer they/them any other pronoun works just fine too. Also this got really long, you have been warned.)

Codebreaker is an outcode who barely managed to escape their universe as it imploded due to corruption. They're selectively mute, primarily using asl to communicate, though they do carry notebooks in case they have to talk with someone who doesn't know sign. They're dorky, kind, compassionate, a bit of a bleeding heart at times, and of course incredibly determined. Since the death of their universe, they've been plagued with guilt and anxiety. Their's primary motivation and role within the multiverse is to maintain the integrity of corrupt timelines and, worst come to worst, figure out how to safely evacuate the residents before their universes collapse just like Codebreaker's did.

As for how their universe ended... after completing what we know as a true pacifist run, Codebreaker decided to take one last walk through the entire underground to make sure everyone knew the barrier was broken. Though, on their way through Waterfall, something changed - that eerily empty hall they'd passed through before now contained a grey door. Curious as they are, they peeked inside, met face to face with a strange goopy skeleton-looking monster.

Codebreaker gets straight to the introductions - "Hi, I'm Frisk, yes I'm a human please don't fight me, also the barrier is broken" - but what remained of Gaster did not care to listen. He only wished to become whole again by any means necessary. Gaster attacks, aiming to take their soul to save himself. Codebreaker attempts to explain their way out of the battle, but with Gaster not even bothering to read their hands they had no choice but to run. Before they could get away, however, they did take a few hits. By the time they noticed the strange monster had left his mark on their soul, it was already far too late.

The residue of himself Gaster had left on their soul corrupted it, their determination, and by extension their SAVE file, turning their universe into a ticking time bomb. Over the short months before the world collapsed, they learned their corrupt soul granted them the ability to do magic and begged Toriel for lessons.

They eventually confided in Sans about the strange encounter, seeing as they were quite close to the skeleton, viewing him and Papyrus as the brothers they'd never had. That conversation lead them to the dreaded realization that their world was ending slowly and there was nothing that could be done to save it. Codebreaker did their best to reassure their friend, but it's not like there was a happy ending they could promise. This was it.

Sometime between then and their universe's collapse, Sans gave them one of his spare jackets. He didn't make a big deal of it, of course, but seeing as he no longer existed... it became a big deal posthumously.

The implosion of a universe isn't as dramatic as it sounds. There was no flashy explosion, no apocalyptic catastrophe. There was simply the world, and then there wasn't. In the void left behind by their universe's demise, Codebreaker was all that was left. They eventually found something in the darkness; a small, glowing light, so minor it wouldn't have been noticeable if anything else remained in the world.

Reaching for the light, they found themself outside their universe. They weren't sure how they knew that, it just sort of appeared in their brain; they were looking down at what had been their entire life, now just a dark void. And it wasn't just that - the dark, corrupted parts of their soul had completely disappeared, leaving gaps missing in their place. Upon checking themself over, they realized they'd lost 7 max hp from it, too. Small glitchy shapes hovered around them, and though they wouldn't realize it for a while, they'd gained the abilities to teleport and summon gaster blasters. This is also when their scleras turned black, and they started wearing their hair over their eyes to hide them.

Looking around, they were surrounded by other universes, each their own isolated existence, and they were overcome with a burning feeling they were so, so familiar with: determination. Determination to protect these worlds they'd never known of before from what they'd just gone through. Over time, the abyss of their universe calmed into a peaceful white void, where they would take anyone who had to witness their worlds fall apart.

Berryheart X Curlfeather. I love middle aged toxic yuri <33

Pebblepaw(skip, if they get a full name), the most victimised kid in the clans;

Berryheart and Curlfeather were Not seeing each other for relationship reasons, they were both AGAINST the code changes. Berry and Curl were both mothers already, Curl having kits for the political stuff they were up to, both had mates, both were loyal to their clan, but seeing each other a few too many times made them kinda like each other.

Curlfeather took it slightly better than Berryheart, who REFUSED to admit to any feelings and they just kept plotting together but Berry became massively more unstable and hostile. There were still feelings tho and Curl was always able to push Berry's buttons in ways to make Berry not dangerous to her.

Somehow, eventually, Curlfeather was expecting. Jayclaw's death was a bit too long ago, but she pretended the kit was also Jay's. Frost and co were happy to have a little sibling at first, :D and everyone was a bit emotional to have a postmortem kit of Jay (now Mothwing and Splashtail were both a bit suspish of how late After Jay's death Pebble was born)

Now this happened right in the time between Mistystar's death and Curlfeather's death. and curlfeather still dies in this...

Pebble is tops 3 moons then and it's very painful when they see what's left of their mom.

then ShadowClan shows up in RiverClan. One day Cloverfoot takes a bit closer a look at this small child and sees some similarities to her and her sister and talks to Pebblekit. Now most of RiverClan wasn't very happy with Cloverfoot talking to the kit of RiverClan, but she promised she wouldn't hurt Pebble. She didn't get much info out of them, but their behavior made them think of Berryheart, so she went to speak with her sister and asked Berry about possible interactions with Curlfeather.

Berry snaps immediately and began a long and LOUD tirade against her own sister about how dare she blame her of breaking the code and having a kit with a cat from another clan. It's long and Berry pulls so many guilt trips, drags Buster into it and blames Clover of doing that herself and trying to put the blame on her and it sounds like fucking verbal abuse and cats who heard the screaming were worried.

Sunbeam heard it. She went to check on her mother and heard Berry and Clover "talk" about the kit. Next time she was on duty in RiverClan she went to see if she could interact with the child and uh... yeah... yeah, those white spots were a bit dubious...

this ends up with Sunbeam speaking to Frostpaw once and learning about Jayclaw and other stuff and Sun does some math and sees it's technically not possible and she goes to talk to Berryheart and gets eviscerated for also suggesting Berry, her own mother, had kits with a cat from another clan. She still ahs her stint with Night and leaves to Thunder and then Night goes on his silly adventure with Frost lol.

Now Splashtail is still plotting, and Frost dipped from the healer position and tries to get Moth to take Pebble as an apprentice a bit early and after Berry does some Annoyances he was leveraging her secret kit to make her cooperate. In the end it's Pebblepaw not listening well enough that made Splashtail do a public callout and openly tell everyone Pebble was fucking halfclan and Berryheart as a codebreaker.

The same gathering Splash openly became leader of RiverClan, the same gathering Berryheart tried to remove Tigerstar from the leadership position, and thus the one Frostpaw saw. Frostpaw and Pebblepaw learned about that parentage issue at the same time and it was BAD.

the rest of ASC is still up in the air, but I assmue Pebblepaw leaves RC too, Frost and Pebble are in an awkward position, but Sunbeam tries to be a good older sister and at least help Pebble and by extention Frostpaw, who is also Nightheart's friend, so obviously.

Michael Coe, Maya Scholar and Codebreaker, Is Dead at 90

“He was always willing to take unpopular positions and prove them correct,” said Richard A. Diehl, professor emeritus of anthropology at the University of Alabama, who was a graduate student when he began working with Dr. Coe in 1966.

Reviewing “The Art of the Maya Scribe” (1997), which Dr. Coe wrote with Justin Kerr, Souren Melikian said in The International Herald Tribune, “The moment you open the book, you feel you have been handed keys to hitherto impenetrable secrets.”

Dr. Coe’s other books included “Mexico: From the Olmecs to the Aztecs” (1962), “The Maya” (1966), “The Maya Scribe and His World” (1973) and a memoir, “Final Report: An Archaeologist Excavates His Past” (2006). His book “Breaking the Maya Code” inspired a 2008 documentary.

After his wife, Sophie D. Coe, an anthropologist and food historian, died of cancer in 1994, Dr. Coe fulfilled his promise to finish her book “The True History of Chocolate.” It was published in 1996.

Michael Douglas Coe was born on May 14, 1929, in Manhattan and was raised on Planting Fields, a 400-acre estate in Oyster Bay, on Long Island; it is now a state park. His father, William Rogers Coe, was vice president of the Virginian Railroad and a grandson of Henry Huttleston Rogers, a founder of Standard Oil. His mother, Clover (Simonton) Coe, was a dress designer.

Michael originally hoped to become a writer. But at St. Paul’s School in Concord, N.H., as a prize for his religious studies work, he won a copy of “The Book of a Thousand Tongues,” which translated the gospel of St. Mark into multiple languages. The book propelled him toward the study of anthropology.

“It hooked me from the beginning,” he said in a memoir.

After graduating from St. Paul’s, he enrolled at Harvard, where, he later said, he couldn’t find a relevant creative writing course. Then, while on a family vacation to the Yucatán, he toured the ancient Maya ruins at Chichen Itza and was mesmerized by the mysterious wall paintings and hieroglyphs he found there. Oh, I forgot about that. Yeah, Caine, the AI who runs the place, put in a swear filter. This place was actually supposed to be a kids game, if you can believe it.

But sure, I'll give you the run-down. Basically, you're stuck here like the rest of us. There's the main cast members, the side characters, and the Anons.

The main cast is made up of Pomni, Ragatha, Jax, Kaufmo, Kinger, Queenie Gangle, Zooble, Caine, and Bubble. The side cast is made up of Clover, Sic, me, Codebreaker, Caim (pronounced Cime), Nurbo, and Fluffy. The Anons are Strawberry, Cool, Lav, Flower, Dreamy, Artsy, Tye, Sleepy, Clown, and Toothy, as far as I'm aware.

Pomni and Ragatha are my adoptive moms, and Jax is my adoptive uncle, making Strawberry, Lav, Cool, and Sleepy my cousins since they're his adopted kids. All of them are safe people to be around, and who knows? You might end up getting adopted by one of them.

That's about everything so far. You got all that? Don't worry if you didn't, it's a lot to remember on your first day.

That's an easy one.

Pomni and Ragatha are my adoptive mothers, and Jax is my uncle as a result, and I love all three of them as much as you'd love your own parents. Strawbs, Lav, Sleepy, Clown, and Cool are my five favourite cousins and I would die for them.

Gangle's pretty chill, but I haven't really interacted with her, but Zooble? I don't like her. She crashed my moms' wedding and started a war over it.

I love Uncle Kaufmo as much as I love my parents, and Kinger and Queenie I see as my grandparents. Clover, Sic, and Nurbo are three very good friends of mine, as is Codebreaker, but I'm starting to see him more as a brother than anything else.

Starburst is the newest of the bunch, but she seems pretty good so far. Weird Anon is probably my favourite, though. I don't know why, there's just something about her that's particularly appealing to me.

Anyway, I think that's everyone so far. I might have missed one or two, but there's so many people here now that it's hard to remember them all.

Okay, first off, you're not useless. You're doing what you can, and that's all anyone can do. Clover still loves you, I'm sure of that, and Codebreaker is doing what they can with Clown. Even though I don't entirely trust them, they're the only one who can do something about Clown's situation, so we need to have a bit of faith. It's going to be okay, Sic.

Okay Queenie, stay calm.

Yes, there was a server crash. Everyone caught in it including Kinger and Nurbo are currently missing, you can check their profiles for proof. We decoded a message from Caine saying everyone affected should be back on Wednesday.

Right now, you need to get to the cellar before you get caught in the crash too. Kaufmo is having a breakdown and something is wrong with Clown. We think it might be because of the rumor that she's some kind of AI, but we don't know. Either way, both of them need some kind of comfort right now.

There are some anons down there, but the only characters that aren't anons that we know for certain are safe down there are both Kaufmos, Phoenix, and Sic. A handful of you and Jax's children are hiding out down there and need some form of guidance right now.

Phoenix has been looking after many of the anons but he can't do this on his own, whether he admits it or not. We need your help.

Like I said before, seeing the cartoonverse versions is the best part about making Murdle OCs ^^

I’ve mentioned a few times that the Detective Club doesn’t seem to have any named members outside Logico and the Murdle Jr. kids (Irratino, I HC as an associate instead of a full member, and I sincerely doubt they’d let any of the suspects save maybe Obsidian in :P). So! Have some OCs to fill out the ranks.

Journalist Jade

5’5, Right-Handed, Brown Eyes, Black Hair, Aquarius

Jade is a 30-year old investigative journalist, taking to the streets to look for headliners and expose crimes for all the world to see. She’s passionate and can be a bit reckless in her pursuit of a big story, but she’s overall a nice person. She’s also the one who originally invited Logico to the Detective Club (in my mental list of Stories I Want To Write Someday, one of them is how Logico became part of the Detective Club—TL;DR, he wound up working with Jade to expose some criminals and she gave him the invite shortly thereafter), and might have had a bit of a crush on him—he’s fairly handsome despite his overall scruffiness, and they worked well together—but obviously, that went nowhere on account of Logico being both not into women and also a major-league jerk pre-Volume 1 :P

Overall, I’d say Jade’s drawing turned out the best; the design was nice, and translated into my artstyle rather well. I accidentally drew her hair a lot shorter than I’d originally intended, and I completely forgot the camera until I was already outlining and had to hastily add it in, but I’d say it all worked out in the end. Her style suits her ^^

Forensic Analyst Bella

5’3, Left-Handed, Brown Eyes, Red Hair, Gemini

Bella is 26, yet in many ways, she acts like a high school popular girl; chatty, fashionable, gossipy, phone-obsessed, and just a bit mean. One would think someone like that would have no place in the Detective Club, but Bella graduated valedictorian of her college and is a known forensics expert. She can tell you when someone died and what poison was used to kill them as easily as she can tell you whether or not your shoes are “in” this summer.

Bella was actually the first Detective Club OC I designed; the forensics part came later, to give her more an identity beyond “Detective Club member”. I like her sunglasses, and her being the only one who carries a walkie-talkie in addition to a phone; ya gotta be prepared when solving crimes. (Oh, and in case you’re thinking I broke the color name rule…I didn’t. Yeah, maybe using a color named by a paint company is cheating, but oh well. I was originally going to use magenta, but then I figured I should probably pick a color less likely to be given to a canon character ^^;)

IT Guy Auburn

5’8, Right-Handed, Brown Eyes, Red Hair, Virgo

Auburn used to work for TekCo, before leaving the company following an “incident” he doesn’t talk about; at 29, he’s just a year younger than its current CEO. While introverted and socially awkward at the best of times, he’s a whiz with computers; if the mystery leaves some digital footprints behind, you go to him. (That his skills are upstaged by a detective in the junior group—the daughter of that aforementioned CEO, no less—is something Auburn awkwardly avoids acknowledging.)

Okay, so I found quite a few color codes for “auburn”; I wound up picking the most common two and using them for his headphones and jacket respectively, which is probably the best compromise I could’ve made ^^; I think I got the “tech guy” look down pretty well, even if he does look a bit more like a gamer than anything else. (I’m sure Olivia would beat him in that regard too :P)

Socialite Vanille

5’0, Right-Handed, Blue Eyes, Blonde Hair, Pisces

At 23, Vanille is one of the Detective Club’s younger members, and also one of its few wealthy members. She comes from high society, and looks and acts the part. Some look down on her as just a rich kid with no actual skills. Vanille simply smiles, because social skills—telling people what they want to hear, getting them to trust you, figuring out who you can and can’t trust yourself—get you very far in an investigation. (Someone should let Logico know that :P)

Vanille’s design admittedly didn’t translate as well as everyone else’s did, mostly because I didn’t actually realize the color of her hair and jacket were so close. And also because after three drawings of decent hands, I got cocky and thought I could do a complicated pose with her hat. Don’t be like me, kids :V I do still like her, though. She’s the first character I’ve ever drawn in a skirt or dress XD And yes, as her name implies, she is French. You can get a surprising amount of OCs through translating colors into foreign languages (looks at Logico’s maternal relatives).

Codebreaker Clover

5’6, Left-Handed, Gray Eyes, Blonde Hair, Scorpio

Clover is 31 (though you’d be forgiven for thinking he was younger), brilliant with cryptography, and kind of a wreck. No one really knows what made him so twitchy and paranoid, or where he learned his codebreaking skills, though some believe the two things are connected. Clover himself thinks everything is connected; everything has a purpose, everything is part of some plan, and everyone is somehow involved. His conspiracy theories are legendary throughout the club, and most of them are known to be complete nonsense. (The rest…well, maybe it’s best not to dig too deep.)

Like Bella, Clover originally had another name—Cyan—before, again, I changed it to one less likely to be used in canon. He also had a couple different titles—first Conspiracist when I wanted to emphasize the “wild paranoiac conspiracy theorist” thing, then Cryptographer when I settled on what he actually did, then Codebreaker because Cryptographer was too similar to Cloud’s title :P He also has the most complicated pair of glasses I’ve ever drawn. I think they came out nicely ^^

Parapsychologist Pitch

5’5, Left-Handed, Green Eyes, Black Hair, Sagittarius

Nobody’s quite sure what Pitch does. Or, frankly, what they’re doing here. 27 years old, they have a love for the macabre and a fascination with the paranormal, and every case they take is some flavor of spooky. One would think they’d fit in better with the Investigation Institute, but they just say they like hands-on experience more than sitting in a chateau doing experiments. They’re fairly chill outside that, if enigmatic at the best of times; they might be playing up their strange behavior to spook people, though. You can never really tell with Pitch.

Pitch originated as an Investigation Institute OC, before I decided I liked the Institute’s actual characters better and repurposed them for the Detective Club :P I do really like their design, though. I love their dyed hair and eyeliner (yes, the points on their eyes are meant to represent eyeliner) and goth outfit. Fun fact: The words on their shirt, if you can’t read it, are “Cinematic Anarchy”. Yes, it is a band shirt. Yes, I came up with that name myself. And yes, it is very edgy :P

Anyway, that’s my characters, they aren’t Logico’s friend group because Logico barely has any friends but they do fill empty space where the rest of the Detective Club is, so. There’s that :P
