Key Design Trends for 2016

The global design firm Fjord (part of Accenture Interactive) explains the key design trends for 2016 and how to make the most of them.  The future of technology is expanding and the use of Apps could be diminishing.  There is a new wave of cognitive technology, a technology platform that uses natural language processing and machine learning to reveal insights from large amounts of unstructured data.  This technology is available to not just the wealthy but for all technology users. They are advising businesses to embed privacy into technology to offer better services with manners to their customers.  

Organizations are now implementing cultures of purpose for employees at an organizational level. Employees are looking to feel inspired to work and be an essential part to the success of the company. Employers are advised to reward and recognize employees and offer them the sense of belonging.

I myself believe there is a rapid increase of organizations trying to implement the organizational leadership process.  There are many college graduates looking to gain work experience that will benefit their resume and help them make more money to help them payoff their student loans and move out of their parents’ home.  I have had many friends struggle to find a job that they really enjoyed after graduating college. Many of my friends lived at home with their parents for about two to five years.  Some college graduates are lucky enough to find a career with a company that offered them the opportunity to move up the ladder.  

I can’t help but wonder why the use of apps would decrease? Why would avid iPhone and android users stop using their favorite apps such as snapchat, Disney Jr, Facebook, Pinterest, Waze, and google maps?  I could honestly say that the Disney junior app is something I cannot live without. My 15 month old son loves to watch his favorite Disney shows on the Disney App when we are out to eat or at home.  I try my best to limit the amount of TV my son watches but there are some moments where I will let him watch mickey mouse clubhouse on my phone.  I can’t imagine a world when I will not need to use my phone to use one of my favorite apps. I constantly use the app Waze when I need directions or want to avoid major traffic.  I just can't imagine apps diminishing in the next couple of years.  I am looking forward to learning more about how companies are adapting to the use of new cognitive technology.
