Notes from a Feb MTL Visit
Mtl is always a tricky one for me. Tons going on, but you really have to work to find it - especially if it’s a weekday during the coldest month of the year. Wrapped up in my Canada Goose, my Sorrels, here’s what I got up to. Gotta make it back in the summer, hop on a bike (or the metro) and really get to know the Plateau, Mile End etc etc.
Musées... there are innumerable more museums to choose from, but these 3 usually have great exhibits so a good place to start: Musée des beaux-arts - Centre Canadien d'Architecture - Musée McCord
Cafés and Meals 🎉 Cafe Parvis: VERY busy at lunch but during off-hours it has a great vibe; 🎉 LOV: Worth visiting for the decor alone. I went at 4pm by myself to have a cocktail and snack, very fresh; 🎉 Olive et Gourmando: Basically anyone you ask for a recommendation for Montreal will say O+G. They do a great brunch, lots of yummy sandwiches. It's worth going if there isn't too long of a line; 🎉 Tiradito: Either only go for the cocktails, or have a very open mind for the food. Peru/Japan fusion; 🎉 Venice MTL: An upbeat California vibe in the heart of Old Mtl, great for a snack; 🎉 Crew Collective: Converted bank building. Grab a matcha and then stare at the gilded ceilings; 🎉 Escondite: Because you simply can't go wrong with Mexican food...
Hotel Here's where I've stayed more recently, though there are plenty to choose from depending on location preference/budget... including some very fancy ones (Saint-James, Ritz etc); 🎈 Le Square Phillips: a good business hotel just off St Catherines, near Old Montreal, near the train station. Perk: high ceilings; 🎈 W: Ultimately, the rooms are small and people only stay there to party. However, it's fun to do a walk-thru of the bar/lounge; 🎈 Le Petit Hotel: great for a romantic weekend;
Still on my to-do list: Tommy - Kampai Garden - Larry's - Jatoba - Arthur's Nosh Bar - Agrikol -Koa Lua - La Habanera
