#throwback to almost 2 years ago (September 2018) when Jacinda Arden had her baby while in office, and went to the UN with her baby. Today, #JacindaArden is still making big, big moves as #NewZealand discharged its last coronavirus patient. See our story for more on this. _ In recent days, #America has seen a spate of horrors against black people - when will it end? Arden’s message is still valid: “We must not be silent in the face of intolerance, hate and discrimination. We must speak for those who do not have a voice [their voice has been taken away]. We must pursue equal rights for all.” _ No matter how small or big your platform is, like John Boyega, you can use it today for yourself and for others. #colouredafrica #justiceforgeorgefloyd #johnboyega #equalrightsforall https://www.instagram.com/p/CAuWGzqhpGj/?igshid=1uolzfg1a88n5

Millions of women in Kerala, India formed a human chain of 385 miles, to protest gender inequality. _ India's Supreme Court overturned a rule that banned women of "menstruating age" (between 10 and 50) from entering the Sabarimala shrine, a prominent Hindu temple. _ But since then, people have attacked female visitors and prevented them from entering the shrine. On the day of the protest, 2 women were able to go into the shrine for the very first time. Serena Williams for Bumble: “The world tells you to wait; that waiting is polite and good things will just come. _ But if I waited to be invited in, I never would have stood out. If I waited for change to happen, I never would have made a difference. _ So make the first move, don’t wait to be told your place; take it. Don’t wait for people to find you, find them: In work, in love, in life. _ And most of all, don’t wait to be given power, because here’s what they won’t tell you: we already have it. Women, the ball is in your court.” Thank you @serenawilliams We love you. _ We love the words of this ad for @bumble Bumble is a dating app where only women can make the first contact in heterosexual matchings. _ #takethepowerback in all aspects of your life. #serenawilliams #feminism #colouredafrica colouredafrica.com https://www.instagram.com/p/BteG1tmh0p1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=rsi5qgujhtlr

For every girl and for every boy, we feel deeply the effects of patriarchy, even if we’re not conscious of them. Now is the time to let go of gender norms that limit us, be free and attain the best versions of ourselves. #feminism #genderequality #africanfeminism #colouredafrica #CA colouredafrica.com https://www.instagram.com/p/Bsrr9SjAw36/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=5t87n0e6nbq1

New Post Alert!!! African Laws are deeply entrenched in a system that views women as second class citizens. We need to rapidly progress from this system into a world that recognises gender equality and enacts laws to protect it. Please visit www.colouredafrica.com to read the full article. I’m watching The Last Dance on #netflix and I’m really amazed at Michael Jordan’s drive. He said his goal (while he was playing basketball) is to show up every day and be the best. Every day! _ It got me thinking: is this the best I can be? I’m asking you too. Is this the best you can be? I don’t know many people who grew up having their fathers as caregivers. I think most of us can count the number of times our fathers gave us baths as kids, or made us meals or cleaned our house when we were younger - that’s if they did at all. - We’re hoping that #millennials and #genz can change this. We need fathers who know that #parenting is not just about providing money, it’s also about child care. _ Research shows that the absenteeism of fathers starts from childbirth, they leave all the care to the women, and that’s it starts. Later on, they don’t know how to change diapers, or make meals for their children. _ That’s why fathers need to take paternity leave. Please visit our blog www.colouredafrica.com or click the link in our bio to read. Please, please share to the men in your lives. Thank you. ❤️🤍 __________ #colouredafrica #parenting #parentinghacks #fatherhood #blackfathers #globaldayofparents https://www.instagram.com/p/CA5UAyQBWqF/?igshid=1strk7mnhfjfr
