This was the second of three tests I shot with Evan Cavallini. The pedestrian traffic on the Main Street Bridge was nonexistent for a sunny Monday afternoon that late March 2022.

Evan took my instructions before shooting as if he were an actor. He easily got accustomed to the distance I maintained and not being made into a pretzel. I felt it made him be more himself while shooting. The downtown landscape in the background brought his movement to life.

This was the second of three tests I shot with Evan Cavallini. St. Johns River Park (also known as Friendship Fountain Park) at the west end of Downtown Jacksonville's Southbank Riverwalk was a tad busy for a sunny Monday afternoon that late March 2022.

Evan took my instructions before shooting as if he were an actor. He easily got accustomed to the distance I maintained and not being made into a pretzel. I felt it made him be more himself while shooting. The ambience sitting on the park bench and subtle angles of the shots brought this to life.

With the exception of meeting friends, shooting an occasional model test or to drop off/pick up processed B&W film from Digital and Darkroom Photo Labs. I didn’t frequent Miami as often when I lived in Naples. It’s urban feel did not draw in my eye like NYC, Chicago, London, Paris, Milano or (when I lived in) Jacksonville.

I was in Hollywood April 2018. It was a beautiful Friday afternoon to shoot the first of two model tests of model/actress, Milena Narscio.

At times I’ll be referred by an agency to test/develop a model’s identity. In this case, Ward Cottrell of Model Scout texted me. He asked if I would consider developing a face living in Jacksonville. He sent images for me to look over. I agreed to speak with her.

Myself and stylist John Henry Edington spoke with Peyton over the phone a couple of times. We recommended she cut her hair from its current past shoulder length. John Henry suggested a couple of hair cuts/styles.

About two weeks later, Peyton with her fresh hair cut and mother came over my home. They greeted my wife and we spoke on what Model Scout was looking for.

These images are from our second test. It was shot on the day of organized protests over Roe vs Wade being struck down … mainly at Jacksonville City Hall with a parade thru downtown. Needless to say it was not a quiet Friday afternoon.

On an added note, those who note I’ve shot this test with a Nikon D3 (12MP). Most agencies will only receive 12/16mp images for their model comps and books. 24mp or higher images take up too much space in their computers to keep short term. Hence using Nikon D3 & D4 for tests and concept exercises.
