Other than the poorly-built backrooms... well... room, you might have noticed the VHS effect. This is not an edited image (well, I did crop it, but that's beside the point), I have made an accurate VHS shader for minecraft!
As of writing this, the shader has the following features:
Controllable luma and chroma compression.
Subtle noise.
Auto exposure.
Interlacing (kind of).
Bloom (hard coded values, for now).
Lens distortion.
Aspect ratio "correction".
Compression in Y'UV, Y'IQ and YCbCr colour spaces.
Controllable vibrancy.
Controllable fog settings.
Simple Lighting (WIP).
A custom torch with controllable colour, distance and brightness. Also works based on the brightness of the held item.
Sharpness filter.
Tonemapping (None, Hyp. Tangent, Beer's Law and Reinhard).
Extra static on top.

Literally all good programs can work with it. Webp is supported by all browsers, it's available in all major image libraries, it has native support in every OS other than Windows. Supporting webp in a program is literally as easy as including one header file and adding a few lines of code wherever you actually interact with the format. I cannot stress enough the fact that if a program does not support webp that is the developers being lazy or incompetent. Exporting to webp literally couldn't be easier and even if your codebase is so fucked you can't change your export and import logic, if you use image libraries like you should you can easily convert between webp and png with a lot of control over compression level and quality while still enjoying the benefits of lossless compression at often much lower file sizes than png and jpg.
Webp is in fact superior, in every way, to jpg, png, and especially gif, as far as web images go. It has far better compression, can compress losslessly a lot better and its lossy compression can give you absolutely tiny ratios. It supports transparency, huge images, the works. It is already widely supported by the low level software, even SerenityOS supports webp! The only stuff that doesn't support webp is stuff where the developers of the software simply decided to fuck you over and to force you to use old, outdated and wasteful formats because they're too lazy to actually develop software. If you're not shipping images as webp over the internet you're shooting yourself in the foot.

I decided to give my theme Opticant a face lift, along with a desperately needed name change. I'm not really working on other new themes right now but I was so excited to update this!
