As bird flu (H5N1) continues to receive public attention regarding reported cases and controversial research, ICAN investigated the three U.S. licensed H5N1 vaccines. Our review raises serious concerns, including the use of toxic ingredients, serious adverse events, and defective clinical trials. ICAN’s attorneys have therefore issued FOIA requests for clinical trial records and all internal FDA and HHS communications regarding these vaccines.
Lead Counsel, Aaron Siri, Esq., lays out the details here:
In the meantime, here are some of the troubling facts that have been uncovered.
GSK’s Influenza A (H5N1) Virus Monovalent Vaccine was licensed in 2013 for use in all persons ages 6 months or older. Findings about this vaccine:
This vaccine contains thimerosal, with up to 1.25 mcg of mercury per pediatric dose. Thimerosal is a mercury-based preservative that was removed from most routine childhood vaccines in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia, and the United Kingdom as a “precautionary measure” in the early 2000s after claims it causes serious harm.
This vaccine also contains squalene, which has been linked to autoimmune disease.
The adult safety trial involved 4,561 subjects (3,422 active/1,139 placebo). GSK solicited adverse event data for only 7 days and tracked unsolicited events for one year, during which the vaccine group had 4 times the rate of new immune-mediated diseases.
The placebo-controlled pediatric safety trial involved only 838 children ages 6 months to 17 years (607 active/231 placebo).
Seqirus’s Audenz H5N1Monovalent Vaccine was licensed in 2020 for use in all persons ages 6 months or older. Findings about this vaccine:
The adult Phase 3 safety trial included 3,191 participants (2,395 active/796 placebo).  Adverse events were solicited for only 7 days following vaccination and unsolicited reports were collected for up to one year, during which 11 deaths (0.5%) were reported in the active group and only 1 (0.1%) was reported in the placebo group.
The pediatric safety study consisted of only 329 children who received the active vaccine. It does not appear to have included a placebo group, and 26% of participants reported an adverse event within 21 days of vaccination.
The multi-dose vials of this vaccine contain thimerosal, with up to 25 mcg of mercury per adult or pediatric dose, and this vaccine contains squalene.
Sanofi Pasteur’s Influenza Virus Vaccine, H5N1, was licensed in 2007 for adults ages 18-64. Findings about this vaccine:
Licensing was based on a safety trial that included only 151 adults (103 active/48 placebo) and adverse event data was tracked for 56 days post-vaccination, during which there were 4 serious adverse events in the vaccine group, including 1 death.
This vaccine contains thimerosal, with approximately 50 mcg of mercury per adult dose.
ICAN will provide additional data as it is received from HHS and FDA.

WEEK 5: Digital Citizenship and Political Engagement and Activism
DIGITAL CITIZENS’ RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
According to Rights and Responsibilities - Digital Citizenship Education (DCE) - Www.coe.int (n.d.), digital citizens can appreciate rights of security, get to and consideration, opportunity of expression and more. In any case, with those rights come certain duties, such as morals and sympathy and other duties to guarantee a secure and dependable computerized environment for all. In the digital age, users are endowed with both rights and responsibilities that shape their interactions and experiences within online spaces. Among the fundamental rights of digital users are privacy and security, encompassing the right to control personal data and safeguard against unauthorized access or exploitation. Additionally, users have the right to freedom of expression, allowing for the open exchange of ideas and opinions while respecting the rights and dignity of others. However, these rights come hand in hand with responsibilities.
Digital users bear the responsibility to uphold ethical behavior, including honesty, integrity, and respect for diversity, in their online interactions. This involves refraining from cyberbullying, harassment, or spreading misinformation that could harm individuals or communities. Furthermore, users have a duty to be discerning consumers of digital content, critically evaluating information sources and avoiding the spread of false or misleading information. By embracing these rights and responsibilities, digital users can contribute to a more inclusive, secure, and ethical online environment for all (Choi, 2016). The rights and responsibilities of digital citizens are shown in the table below.
Tumblr media
DIGITAL CITIZENS’ POWER THROUGH HASHTAG
According to research (Focus, 2023), hashtags play a pivotal part in celebrity social media promotion, permitting celebrities to advance their brand, reach a more extensive group of onlookers, and interface with their supporters. By utilizing important hashtags, celebrities can increment their perceivability, draw in modern adherents, and lock in with their existing fanbase(Focus, 2023). Take a drama of Taylor Swift and Kanye West as a case study for the power of hashtags on social media.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anybody who's went through anytime on Twitter has likely seen a few frame of #IsOverParty trending. In its most common utilization, IsOverParty is composed after the title of somebody or something that's “canceled.” The drift formally picked up in July of 2016, when #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty started trending in reaction to the disclosure that Quick had known that Kanye West had composed approximately her in one of his melodies, “Famous,” referencing the time he hindered her acknowledgment discourse at the 2009 Video Music Grants. In that case, tweeters were criticizing Quick for implying meat between her and West, accepting that her information of the verses demonstrated that there were no hard sentiments. Within the four a long time since, #IsOverParty has been utilized endless times as a marker that somebody has done something the Twitter open regards inexcusable. Kanye West got his comeuppance more than once, when #KanyeWestIsOverParty trended each year between 2016 and 2019.
Twitter has seen a spike within the drift since the coronavirus widespread started, adjusting with the common increment in celebrity and lawmaker “cancelations.” #JimmyKimmelIsOverParty and #TinaFeyIsOverParty were utilized in late June to criticize both TV identities for utilizations of blackface on their TV shows.Generally, on the off chance that #IsOverParty is trending, clicking on it'll drag up tweets that clarify what the individual has done to merit such a party.

China’s billionaires looking to move their cash, and themselves, out
Billionaires are notoriously difficult to track. It’s no surprise – the easier they and their assets are to find, the easier they are to tax. But by all accounts, the number of uber-wealthy people in China is in decline. Of the world’s estimated 2,640 billionaires, at least 562 are thought to be in China, according to Forbes, down from 607 last year.
With crackdowns on financiers and a roiling political climate, many of China’s rich people are looking to move their money, and themselves, out of the country.
China’s elites have long looked for ways to take their money overseas. Officially, individuals are only allowed to transfer $50,000 (£41,000) out of the country each year. But in practice wealthy people have a range of official and unofficial ways of shifting their funds, whether that is through money exchanges in Hong Kong, where capital controls do not apply, or funnelling cash into overseas businesses.
In August, police in Shanghai arrested five people who worked at an immigration consultancy, including the company’s boss, on suspicion of facilitating illegal foreign exchange transactions in excess of 100m yuan (£11m). In a state media report, the police said “illegal foreign exchange trading seriously disrupts the order of the country’s financial market”.
Before the pandemic, about $150bn flowed out of China each year via tourists taking their funds overseas, according to estimates from the Natixis, a bank. Although international travel has not returned to pre-pandemic levels, high US interest rates and a weak yuan are a strong incentive for cash-rich Chinese to move their money out of the country, economists say.
In the first half of 2023, there was a shortfall of $19.5bn in China’s balance of payments data, which economists use as an indicator of capital flight, although the true value of money unofficially leaving the economy may be higher.
Alicia Garcia Herrero, the chief economist for Asia Pacific at Natixis, says that “a high level of uncertainty about future economic policies and business opportunities in China” also encourages people to take their savings out of the country.
In 2021, Xi Jinping, China’s leader, resurrected a call for “common prosperity”, which was widely interpreted as a call for tycoons to share their wealth more widely. That year Alibaba, the tech company founded by Jack Ma, once one of China’s most high-profile entrepreneurs, donated 100bn yuan to the cause.

Five children are being strip-searched by the Metropolitan Police without even being arrested first every week – with new data also exposing huge racial disparities.
Exactly 799 children aged between 10 and 17 were reportedly strip-searched while not in custody from 2019 to 2021.
Most were for suspected drugs offences, while there was no arrest or outcome in just less than half of the cases.
More than 50% of those strip-searched were black – 436 people – while 75% overall were from ethnically diverse backgrounds – 607 people.
Only one in five – 179 – were white, FOI data obtained by LBC shows.
Previous data released in March showed 5,279 children had been strip-searched in the past three years overall, with 3,939 (75%) from ethnically diverse backgrounds.
It also follows backlash over revelations that a 15-year-old girl, known as Child Q, was strip-searched by Met officers who knew she was on her period.
No other adult was present during the incident, in which she was wrongly suspected of carrying cannabis.
The force has said they are working hard to ensure officers have a clear understanding of their policy – as the searches of 10 other children are referred to the police watchdog for independent investigation.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan has said he is ‘concerned’ over the number of strip searches without arrest, although added that ‘proper checks’ are now being performed on ‘every single case’.
But Labour MP for Battersea, Marsha de Cordova, has warned it is ‘wrong’ to put a child through a strip-search if they haven’t been arrested.
Meanwhile, a former Met officer has warned that being strip-searched can be hugely distressing to children and leave ‘a scar in their hearts and minds’ after he spoke to families impacted.
Ali Hassan Ali, who left the force to start his own initiative combating violent crime, said: ‘All the families tell me the child spends more time in their bedroom now, doesn’t do well in school anymore, doesn’t socialise like they used to.’
His remarks come after the case of a teenage daughter who reportedly tried to take her own life after she was strip-searched.
Mr Ali added that it can also damage children’s trust in authority, saying: ‘They’ll see a police car, and they get scared.’
Both he and Ms de Cordova have been left enraged by the racial disparities and believe black children, especially boys, are often treated as if they are older.
A spokesperson from the Met has said the force recognises the ‘significant’ impact searches have on young people and is ‘progressing at pace work to ensure children subject to intrusive searches are dealt with appropriately and respectfully’.
Saying that ‘changes have been made already’, a statement continued: ‘We have ensured our officers and staff have a refreshed understanding of the policy for conducting a ‘further search’, particularly around the requirement for an appropriate adult to be present.
‘We have also given officers advice around dealing with schools, ensuring that children are treated as children and considering safeguarding for those under 18.
‘More widely we have reviewed the policy for “further searches” for those aged under 18. This is to assure ourselves the policy is appropriate and also that it recognises the fact a child in these circumstances may well be a vulnerable victim of exploitation by others involved in gangs, County Lines and drug dealing.
‘To ensure we have very clear control over this type of search, we have introduced new measures across the Met.
‘As well as requiring a discussion with their supervisor before seeking authority for a more thorough search and the presence of an appropriate adult, an inspector from a local command unit must now give authority before the search takes place to ensure appropriate oversight.
‘A Merlin report must also be submitted, to ensure safeguarding the child is the priority. The Merlin system contains information about a child coming to police attention.’

VNC Chapter 48 Analysis
The numbering system of the chapters continues to grow more confusing as it continues to be off by one (Web sites called the last one 48 on links but 47 on the chapter page), but we're just going to continue to call this chapter 48 instead of chapter 49 and hope for the best. Also, this chapter has been remarkably difficult to find for purchase. Why would YenPress hide it from me like this? D8
Anyway, none of that is the actual meta, so let's move on to that. As a general warning, the chapter itself dealt with some difficult subject matter, namely torture, so bear in mind that will be discussed in the meta.
We left off with Misha being left in Vanitas's care and this chapter begins with Vanitas taking that charge seriously, which was both surprising and completely predictable. As Noé once pointed out, Vanitas is made up of contradictions. We see that Vanitas is at least a little bit invested in Misha right away when he asks, "...You're sure it's okay if they cut it?"
He's referring to Misha's hair. Now, this is interesting for a few reasons. The first is that it demonstrates Vanitas wants to make sure Misha is as comfortable as he can be given the circumstances, but I also find it interesting because Vanitas himself has long hair. Only, he has kind of weird, chopped long hair.
Now, he has the same hairstyle in the flashbacks that he does in the present. At first I thought this was strange. How could he maintain such an elaborate hairstyle when he was imprisoned with Moreau? Did Mochizuki simply not want to come up with another hairstyle? But no, I don't think this is what happened. I think those scientists did try to cut Vanitas's hair when he was first brought to Moreau, he resisted, and the whole attempt resulted in his current 'do.
The fact that his hair is the same in the present means he's purposefully keeping it this way. Add this to the fact that he dresses like Vanitas of the Blue Moon, and I think Vanitas is manifesting all his traumas on his own person, possibly so he won't forget and so he won't give up on his revenge.
Moving on from that, it's unclear how long Vanitas had been with Moreau when Misha came along, but I think it's fair to say at least a few months? Maybe longer? Long enough that he knows how to behave around Moreau and can fill Misha in on how things are.
Tumblr media
Vanitas explains to Misha he doesn't get to keep his old name, he's a number now. It's harsh, but it's another way of trying to prepare Misha for how awful things are going to be. An impossible task to be sure, but what else can he do?
We cut immediately to Misha being experimented on and tortured. He's in pain and also confused. He says, "Wasn't all the pain supposed to be over?" Roland's description of a happier place must seem like a massive lie right about now, but he had no way of knowing Misha would never get a chance at that fate.
The experiments themselves seem nonsensical. We see he's being injected with something in his arm, but we also see him strapped to a gurney with a metal object about his eyes. It looks like what they're doing is feeding the liquid from the vials through tubes into his eyes. I... don't see how this would be more effective than the previous syringes to be completely honest. My best guess is that since a vampire's power is centered in their eyes and Moreau is obsessed with vampires, he figured injecting this liquid directly into a human's eyes would have stronger results. Misha is also forced to drink something. Perhaps water, perhaps something else. Impossible to say.
The pain of it all reminds Misha of his mother beating him, which really just goes to show what a lousy mother she was. :/ He calls out for Vanitas to help him and we can see that Vanitas is bothered by what's happening. But what I did not expect was for Vanitas to turn around and offer to take Misha's place.
Tumblr media
This is hands down the most selfless act we've ever seen from Vanitas. Willingly putting himself in danger? With the full knowledge he'll be tortured? That's incredible self-sacrifice. The only reason he did this is because he cares about Misha; he doesn't want to see someone suffer.
And yet, while I didn't expect this turn, it actually fits in perfectly from what we already know about Vanitas, even if he's gone to a lot of lengths to keep it obscured. Let's take a look at some previous panels:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is one of our earliest examples. Vanitas was furious when Noé put himself in harm's way to protect him. He doesn't want others suffering because of him. But it's not just that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That first scene is where Vanitas promises Jeanne he'll kill her if she ever loses control and hurts Luca. In other words, if she's no longer "Jeanne" he's taking responsibility for her failure to protect Luca. The next scene he promises to save Chloé, but what he actually says is that he'll accept all of Jeanne's ugly emotions for her.
In other words, Vanitas doesn't like it when other people suffer, especially if they're protecting him, but he readily takes on that very role himself. He goes out of his way to shield people even if he doesn't want them doing the same, and he readily accepts all the harsh, painful realities for someone so that they don't have to deal with it. In other words, what he's doing for Jeanne is similar to what he did for Misha, just on an emotional rather than physical level. But we also know he failed to keep some kind of promise to Misha and he remembered this when he promised to kill Jeanne. Perhaps he meant to keep Misha as "Misha," but he wasn't able to do so and he wasn't able to kill that which took his place.
All of this puts a slightly different spin on the Vanitas/Jeanne relationship. While there's definitely a selfish, immoral element there, this has also become Vanitas's attempt at doing something good, no matter how questionably he's going about it. Except, it was easier for him to do so when she didn't like him because not only does he not want people to risk themselves for him, he also doesn't want them to see him as worthy of doing so. Basically, as Roland said, he hates himself a lot more than we realized.
Now, what I want to know is whether Vanitas ever had siblings. Vanitas saw Misha suffering, but it was when he called out "Brother!" that he finally stepped in. Did it remind him of a sibling he actually had or was it just that he felt the weight of another person's life in the balance and he couldn't bear to do nothing?
Tumblr media
This is the only cute scene of the chapter and we see that once again Vanitas doesn't push Misha away. He could have been angry with him for putting him in that predicament (not a rational feeling, but not one that would have been surprising given the circumstances), but instead he says nothing and let's him do as he wishes. This is also when No. 70 is brought up. I think the only thing we can safely say about No. 70 at this point is that he was a test subject involved in some other experiment (as Vanitas says) and that he is probably around Vanitas's age judging by what little we can make out of him.
Personally, I don't think this is a character we already know or, if it is, not well. Could be one of the chasseurs, but which one? This person was supposedly mute, but there haven't been any characters like that. So, a mystery for now. I am definitely curious, though. Vanitas and Misha were being turned into kin of the blue moon. Was No. 70 being turned into a proper vampire? That is Moreau's dream after all. But, for now, we simply don't have enough information to say anything at all.
And speaking of Moreau, he said he acquired the Books of Vanitas through "a certain channel." What does that mean? It sounds like it's probably a person, a contact, and one he's known for a while. Honestly, this one section raises so many questions. How would Vanitas lose her own books? It just seems absurd.
Anyway, Moreau goes on to explain the books are "analytical engines," which basically means they're machines, powered by a unique kind of astermite. Vanitas once told Noé he could manipulate the chasseurs' machines in the catacombs because they were also powered by astermite.
I think all of this is incredibly important. Just what is the world formula? Because whatever it is, it can be manipulated just the same way as astermite can, apparently. And who is connected to the world formula? Vampires. What can be tampered with by the books? Vampires' names. Where am I going with this? I'm not entirely sure. 8D But I've been thinking about this for a while. Astermite is some panacea stone that has removed pollution and done wonderful things. But that just sounds too good to be true. I really think there's something nefarious about astermite, and I think it's connected to vampires--and possibly the chasseurs--somehow.
I wrote a short fic once where astermite was made out of vampires' names. In other words, vampire souls. I'm still waiting to see what this stuff is actually made out of, but I just can't shake that theory, baseless though it is.
Still, only the blue moon's kin can open the Book of Vanitas and it uses a "different kind of astermite." Blue moon vampires are also different from red moon vampires. I wonder if the books have just a little bit of Vanitas of the Blue Moon's own essence. Hmmm...
Also, it turns out that Vanitas of the Blue Moon, and presumably all blue moon vampires, have blue blood. This means if you're a blue moon vampire, there really isn't a thing you can do to hide it, is there? 8D Your eyes are super blue, your blood is super blue. They probably smell differently, too. And it turns out Vanitas and Misha were injected with her blood to make them honorary kin.
Again, so many questions here. We're definitely dealing more with alchemy than straightforward science at this point, so I have to wonder: How changed are Vanitas and Misha's DNA? Do they even qualify as human? I mean, evidently their blood isn't blue, but Noé and Jeanne both agree that Vanitas smells good. How much of that is because of him as a person and how much is because of the blue moon blood running through his veins?
It seems most humans can't handle Vanitas of the Blue Moon's blood because they went mad instantly. But not these two.
Vanitas is understandably furious at what's been done to him. Having said that, this is also around the time period he hated vampires completely. I wonder how much of that anger is because he's been experimented on against his will and how much of it is because he was injected with a vampire's blood specifically.
Whichever it is, there's a certain level of irony that he's then saved by Vanitas herself. She comes in, blows up some stuff, and gets her books back.
Let's think about this for a moment. Somehow, Moreau not only had her books, he also had her blood. She does not look like a prisoner though, does she?
Tumblr media
No, if anything, she definitely looks like the person in control of the room somehow, so I really have to wonder how they got these things from her. She evidently came to pick up her books, but that's not it.
Tumblr media
I could be reading too much into it, but that, to me, doesn't sound like someone who's there to stop an evil experiment or save people. Or at least, that's not the only reason she's there. "That should be enough of a rampage to do the trick." What is she trying to accomplish? She already has the books!
Well, I suppose future chapters will give us an idea.
Misha convinces her to take them with her. Vanitas is shocked that the offer is extended to him as well. He was definitely prepared to simply stay, but then he thought of the chasseurs, the pain they inflicted on him, and I think he decided he'd rather take his chances with the vampire. He may hate vampires at this point, but humans haven't proven themselves to him either.
What I find interesting though is how similar this scene is to when Noé said "Not yet" in the catacombs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They each offered him hope when he least expected it and showed him a path he never would have tried himself. It's also interesting that they also share some basic visual similarities. They both have darker skin and silver hair and they're vampires. Both of these scenarios happened in the catacombs as well. At a minimum, we can say they each led him to an important change in his life. Also, Vanitas of the Blue Moon had a definite "Noé" vibe in this one panel:
Tumblr media
There's a certain awkwardness here that makes me think of him. The obvious difference being that Noé wouldn't let suffering children be an afterthought. Maybe this is more of a Teacher resemblance. Hard to say...
And so, Vanitas joined Vanitas of the Blue Moon! What a chapter. Dr. Moreau continues to be the worst, doesn't he? He's definitely lacking depth compared to the other villains wandering about. XD Very curious when Vanitas gets to kill him. And also whether Moreau's research will be successful. I think the series is going to get a lot darker if it is.
One thing I noticed is that Misha never lost his arm during these experiments, so that definitely happened later. My personal guess is that he's using the book a lot more than Vanitas and is being rewritten at a faster rate. If so, being rewritten could mean... disappearing from reality? Guess we'll find out. Ahh, I really want the next chapter... I'm looking forward to it!

The Myth of Brain Sex
There have been many small studies which claimed to have finally and decisively located a concrete sexual dimorphism in brains. In 1995, a Nature study confidently concluded that language-processing in women occurred more diffusely across the hemispheres of the brain than in men (Shaywitz, 1995). The study’s sample base was 38 right-handed people, 19 male and 19 female, making “small” a highly apt descriptor. In 2008, a meta-analysis of previous studies on sex differences in language lateralization refuted the results of the 1995 study, finding no difference in the execution of language tasks or the structure of the Planum Temporale involved therin, but interestingly enough, did conclude that males are more likely to be left handed (Sommer, 2008).
The rise of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, or MRI, has brought about a whole new avenue for studying the brain and subsequently reinvigorated the search for brain gender. One particular 2005 MRI study of 21 men and 27 women done by the University of California looked at correlations between IQ and grey matter in different areas of the brain (Haier, 2005). This study was, and I believe still is, particularly influential on the prevalence of brain dimorphism as a popular belief; it gained a great deal of public recognition, despite it having a small sample size that makes any results far less significant. A small study such as this could have some level of merit, but its conclusions would have to be confirmed by much larger studies, and the fact is that much of the public’s conclusions about the meaning of the study reach far further than the study justifies. A further 2021 meta-analysis of 3 decades of MRI and post-mortem data attributes the difference in the ratio of grey matter observed in the 2005 study to the difference in brain size between males and females, which is about an 11% average difference between an adult male and an adult female, with male brains being larger (Eliot, 2021). The difference in brain size can also explain differences in regional cortical volumes and inter- or intra-hemispheric connectivity. When comparing across populations, the study found minimal consistent differences in male and female brains other than brain size. In her article discussing the idea of brain sex, which she refers to as neurosexism, neuroscientist Lise Eliot points out that many neurological studies similarly do not control for brain size, thereby unconsciously increasing apparent male-female difference (Eliot, 2019).
In her 2019 book the Gendered Brain, neuroscientist Gina Rippon likens the process of the publishing and refuting of studies claiming brain dimorphism to a game of whack-a-mole. I find this to be a highly fitting metaphor. The idea of brain sex is not new, and the concept has plagued science for centuries. A new study always rears its head, claiming to have succeeded where all previous studies have failed, and it shortly proceeds to become obsolete, but not before it gets misconstrued and twisted by public misinterpretations which are then perpetuated long past the study. So if the evidence has never been strong for brain sex, why does the myth persist? In my humble opinion, it persists regardless of the evidence stacking against it because people want to believe it. They want to believe that there’s something inherent to it, that gender resides in the brain, that you’re born liking pink or liking blue, because they want to justify the society in which they live and the way they live as simply natural. If you believe in brain sex, you don’t have to fix existing societal inequalities. Instead of addressing the prejudices and biases that prevent women from seeking careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), you can simply say that women are just not as mathematically-minded and the disparity results from that. Instead of confronting the idea that gender roles are enforced on children from birth, you can say that women inherently like pink and all that follows. There’s no need to challenge any existing beliefs or examine your own actions. Believing in brain sex is easier than acknowledging the omnipresent influence of culture. Psychologist Cordelia Fine put it most succinctly:
“Popular neurosexism permits us to sit back and relax, with its seemingly neat explanation of our social structure and personal lives. The answer, ‘Oh, it’s the brain,’ offers a tidy justification for accepting the status quo with clear conscience (Fine, 2008).”

Will the internet usage decrease electric recourses in the future?
After serious consideration and thorough understanding of the codebook for the Gapminder, I have determined that I am predominantly concerned about internet usage and electric consumption. I will be using variables regarding internet usage and domestic electricity expenditure for this assignment.
1st variable
Internet is what I call the revolution of the century. Anyone who has access to the internet has access to the world. The most important evidence to my statement is; I won’t be having an opportunity to learn this program without the Internet. The education sector is changing towards the internet; getting skilled at anything is quite possible with the internet now. Universities are improvising new learning programs to encourage everyone to access anywhere in the world. Another sector affected by the internet is the shopping sector. Shopping has dramatically changed online; we barely walk out to buy stuff; since buying anything is possible with an app or a website. Apps and Websites make our lives interesting and enjoyable: we hardly take our eyes out of digital screens.
After a thorough investigation, I manage to find several countries in which internet usage is below ten people out of 100 citizens. The Republic of Congo recorded the least number of several internet users out of 192 countries. On the other hand, Norway has the most number of internet users over 93 people out of 100 people who have access to the internet. Never the less, Netherlands and Luxemburg go hand in hand; recording over 90 citizens have access to the internet daily.
2nd variable
The modern world’s pilot is electricity; it has become a part of everything we do. However, for the people who live in Haiti, it does not mean at all. They are the least electricity consumption country in the list, consume little more than 9 kWh. But the story in Norway is opposite to Haiti. As per the data, a Norwegian consumes 7432 kWh per annum, making them the highest electricity consumption country in the list. The closest nation to Norway is Canada; a Canadian consume 4772 kWh per year.
Thanks to the internet, whether it is gathering information, staying in touch with loved ones, shopping, education, ordering foods, and paying bills are in our palms right now. Modern technology has altered the way we do things and the way we live.
 Literature review
Changes happened to almost everything on earth, including businesses. However, the internet has been influencing the growth of industries and economies by providing essential information and direction that they required. Further, it has encouraged organizations to modify the way they operate, by improving access to appropriate market information, facilitating trade operation by generating endless business opportunities to enhance business performance (Kaushik and Singh (2004); Aker and Mbiti (2010). However, at the end of 2014, the internet had about 3 billion active users, many of whom use it daily. Whether it has powered by smartphones, tablets, PCs, or servers, power consumption is tremendous. Fettweis and Zimmermann (2008) noted that in 25 years, the consumption of 500 billion devices connected to the Web. Further, they stated, this may increase pressure on energy use and increases electricity consumption.
Moreover, Internet users data are stocked and controlled by data stations that consume enormous amounts of electrical energy, offering to high operational costs and carbon footprints to the atmosphere (Koomey (2011), Beloglazov et al. (2012)). Besides, the efficiency of wireless access networks and data centers still not quite developed. Hence, Information Technology possibly will use as much as 51% of global electricity in 2030 (Andrae and Edler (2015)). Similarly, Lambert et al. (2012) researched phase electricity consumption in communication networks, consisting of telecoms operator networks, customer premises equipment, and office networks. Their results illustrate that the entire global power consumption in communication networks will go above 350 Terawatt-hours (TWh) in 2012. Afzal and Gow (2016) investigated the impact of ICT on electricity consumption. Verdicts favour an increase in ICT, measured using Internet connections, mobile phone subscriptions, or ICT goods imported, raises the requirement for electricity in countries. Moreover, outcomes reveal that the impact of ICT on electricity consumption is actually higher than the impact of electricity consumption.
 Hypothesis
Will the internet usage decrease electric recourses in the future? I have attempted to explore the relationship between, Internet usage and energy consumption. The decisions of this study emphasize that rapidly increasing internet demand will result in decreasing energy recourses of countries. Understanding the long-run and fundamental connection between internet demand and electricity consumption might lead to a decrease in recourses available for the future.
Hinton et al. (2011) proposed a network-based model of power consumption in Internet infrastructure. Their design proves that the access network holds the internet’s electric power consumption and, as access speeds increase, the core network routers will increase power consumption. Further, they explained, developed countries tend to use more internet yet consume more energy than others. Moreover, it is better to research new ways to produce electricity as natural resources are draining and couldn't produce energy in the future.
As new data appear, advanced research should perform to explore the association between internet demand and electricity usage to find whether my findings are reliable. This study can be improved for different steps, especially in economic growth, to observe the linkage between internet demand impact on electricity usage.

TNG: “The Arsenal of Freedom”
Tumblr media
After all intelligent life on Minos vanishes without a trace, Starfleet sends the USS Drake to investigate, but the Drake soon disappears as well.  When the USS Enterprise follows up, her crew finds themselves in the middle of an arms merchant’s automated demonstration of an unstoppable weapon.
The backstory in the opening of this episode suggests that the disaster on Minos happened very recently, but the rest of the context implies the planet’s civilization was eradicated generations ago.  The control center for the drones looks like an ancient tomb, and the surrounding area is thick with vegetation, giving the impression that nature has long since reclaimed Minos’s buildings and urban areas.  The crew treats Minos like an obscure curiosity--the kind of weird planet only Data knows anything about.  Its culture of used car salesmen hawking weapons for a series of esoteric wars is deliberately far removed from anything familiar to Starfleet.  So I have trouble buying that this planet had relations with the Federation, recent or otherwise.
If we assume the story originally portrayed Minos as a long lost civilization, then the plot point about Captain Rice and the Drake would have more meaning.  That way the Enterprise is solving the mystery of Minos to rescue the Rice and his crew.  As it is, the Drake feels redundant--a second set of people lost to the same mysterious threat--to the point no one even confirms that the ship was destroyed by one of the orbital drones.  You could eliminate the Drake from the plot and lose nothing...except the script padding from Riker’s extensive description of Rice and the entirely unconvincing decoy that assumes Rice’s form.
The Echo Papa 607 drones employ a strategy of allowing an individual unit to be destroyed so that the system can learn the tactics of a target to better prepare the next unit.  Thanks to the miracle of computers, this process is so rapid and exacting that there is no meaningful defense against it.  This anxiety about machine learning as a threat was reaching a fever pitch in the 1980s, and just needed one last push from Star Trek to crystallize the nightmare scenarios into a lasting cultural phenomenon...
Because of the importance of tactics in this episode, you’d expect Tasha Yar to finally get a chance to shine.  She does direct traffic a lot in the away team scenes, but since the drones have effectively “solved” tactics her efforts are in vain.  It would have been a better push for the character to take command of the bridge after Picard joins the away team, since the ship’s version of the cat-and-mouse game is more interesting.  As it is, La Forge gets the glory of having leadership thrust upon him; given where each character will end up next season, I suppose that was the right call.
