I want to point out something interesting from the game Convergence that could be applicable to the Arcane S2 ending

SPOILERS BELOW FOR THE ENDING OF CONVERGENCE AND THE ENDING OF ARCANE

(Also if you are an Arcane fan and haven’t played it then here’s your recommendation to go play Convergence! It’s really cool, you can play as Ekko, and there’s some parts that parallel parts of Arcane too)

So in the ending, Future Ekko is sent off into the time rift.

And there he’s able to look into different realities (including Arcane’s one!)

And he ends up walking into the reality where his parents are happy.

What I’m saying is… I feel like the time rift and the arcane dimension where Jayce and Viktor are in the finale are pretty similar, and therefore could function in the same way.

So yeah, it is quite possible that Jayce and Viktor would be able to go on a tour of different realities

Since I have not seen anyone talk about it.

Yesterday, the community launched a free Farewell - A Riot Forge Zine which we say goodbye to the amazing Forge games we could experience over the years.

It is complete free and a lot of amazing people put so much effort into it. I also wrote a Conv/gence piece for it as well.

Funfact: The comic probably was the never realized pitch for the paid Marvel Comic Universe Riot was planning years ago.

We had three free comics in cooperation with Marvel and there was an announced Ekko comic as first one we were suppose to actually pay for (or wait 6 months to read for free). Because the narrative team and Marvel weren't really one the same page with the comics and Covid happened, the project was simply dropped.

(For people who are curious: Ashe: Warmother , Lux and Zed were end result which we got. Warmother is an excellent read but it is very worldbuild-heavy so not for everyone, Zed is alright but you can see how it got rewritten half in the middle and I consider the Lux comic one of the worst narrative project we ever received. I hate it with a burning passion.)

Personally, while I also agree that the Covn/gence comic had its glaring issues, I find it fascinating that Viktor building a hive mind reveals about him.

How lonely does a person needs to be that he decides to create a hivemind you can't escape out? It tells something about Viktor and his mental state and I personally find it fascinating.

And yes, that video is EXACTLY that I imagine would happen.

In one of your most recent tumblr ficlets and in your overall writing, you mentioned that Viktor would love to augment Jayce. Assuming in „what if“ scenario, which designa would Viktor implement? More subtle? Even more obvious than his own augments? Does Jayce get his own his Hexclaw?

Hmmmm, if it were ever to come to that, Jayce trusting him to do that… I think he would set aside what he personally wants to do and work to execute what Jayce wants. And I think Jayce would want it more subtle; mostly internal augments, with any visible external ones more disguised.

Now on the off chance Jayce did not have any input and was willing to let Viktor do his thang… I do think it would be a lot less subtle. But still well-integrated into his body. I don’t think he’d get a Hexclaw, but I do think Viktor would try to integrate Jayce’s use of the Mercury Hammer—either by building it into an augmented arm, or utilizing Hextech-powered magnetism so that Jayce could recall the hammer a la Thor. I lean toward the latter, that sounds fucking epic.

I also think he might play around with neural adaptors which allow the two of them to communicate and locate each other anywhere. And depending on the complexity, this could even allow them to hear/feel the other’s thoughts and emotions (I’m sure he would build in the ability to turn this function off, it’s not meant to be an invasion of privacy, more to keep each other safe). This could make erm… their private time a hell of a lot more intense, too. Feeling your own emotions and sensations as well as the other person’s?? Oof. Talk about overstimulation.

Overall, I think Viktor would take into account aesthetics when it comes to Jayce, whereas he went with a more functional design for himself. Cuz Jayce built a nose hair trimmer ffs, he obviously cares about how he looks, to some degree. Which I think is another beautiful contrast between the two of them that somehow just works—they’re sun and moon, form and function. Human and machine.

Personally, I found it fascinating that Covn/gence is implying that Jayce continues to send offers to work with him in Piltover.

I wonder that is his reasoning. Maybe because he already has seen how Zaun can turn people into a different version of themselves. Not that Ekko would ever work for Piltover and then he continues to talk positive about Camille Ferros in the game.

Finger crossed that people gonna play / watch Conv/gence and finally realize that Runeterra has a such a good world building, which IS different from Arcane but still as brillant.
