Obscura boys 3d model notes/process 😝😝

With the final dude created and this little project coming to a close I thought it'd be fun to put together a little overview with some of my thoughts about each one

Up first we got Oleander

I decided to do oleander first because I knew he would be the most annoying. And he was. Though I'm not sure if that's moreso because of him or because he was the third vroid model I made ever. He definitely took the longest but I also think he turned out really nice 😋 as long as you ignore his jacket clipping through itself every time he moves

4/10 overall experience

After oleander I made Keir because he is boring. because his black and brown color pallet and practical fashion sense seemed like a nice pallette cleanser. Though I never could've imagined just HOW FUCKING ANNOYING HIS GIANT BOOBS WERE OH MY GOD TRYING TO DRAW STRAIGHT LINES ACROSS HIS MASSIVE HONKERS WAS A NIGHTMARE THEY WARP AND DEFORM EVERYTHING WITHIN A 10 MILE RADIUS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ also his hair was super annoying but it was doable. He probably took the least amount of time all together but I kept putting it off so it took way longer

After Keir I made Francesco because I asked on the discord who I should make next and 1 person said Fran 😎😎😎 he went pretty fast I felt, maybe it was because I was getting the hang of vroid finally or maybe it's cause I was listening to Pinkerton. it all went pretty well except for THAT STUPID FUCKING MIDDLE PART OH MY GOD YOU WOULDN'T THINK IT WOULD BE BUT IT WAS THE WORST HAIRSTYLE I HAD TO MAKE HANDS DOWN NO COMPETITION AND THEN WHEN I CONVERTED HIM TO PMX ALL THE PHYSICS WERE WHACK AND HE LOOKED LIKE HE HAD HORRIBLE STATIC CLING SO I HAD TO FIX HIS HAIR AND EXPORT HIM A SECOND TIME‼️‼️‼️‼️ but other than that he was smooth sailing and very polite

And last but not least Cirrus

Ok I think I cheated for this one.. Like there's this vtuber named Pallas in the discord who already made Cirrus assets for vroid and they graciously let me use them so I didn't have to make the scarf, the shoes, or that dangly charm thing he has which are all the hardest parts so all I really did was make the hair, the mask, and the robe which I did lickety split😝😝😝 I'm not complaining though

She was the second vroid model I made ever and she has the jank to prove it 😎😎😎 but without her the other dudes would not exist because what's the point of making 4 boyfriends if there isn't somebody for them to be 4 boyfriends for. And I guess I also learned a lot about making textures and using the hair tool and vroid in general and the separate program that can make textures transparent even though I didn't use it for any of the obscura dudes

I don't really have anything to say about her process besides making your own ocs is a cakewalk compared to characters you didn't make because you know what their back looks like even if you haven't drawn it

You can do whatever you want with the model, have fun! For those interested in making their own models, Vroid is free! It's used for vtubing and stuff, so the uses are endless! You can also use blender (yes, it's free) to make MMD models as well.

Not sure if anybody in this fandom still uses MMD in the big year of 2025, BUT I have converted almost half the Season 2 cast (that are important) to PMX

I've just about finished Luke, Nick, Sarah, Clementine, Rebecca, Carver, and got started Carlos. They've got a lot of facial morphs, adjustable arm bones, IK bones and all have the Japanese names so you can reverse them (my BIGGEST pet peeve is when people don't create the opposite bone for reversal!!! That shit pisses me off). Mainly just missing the options to switch textures and clothes but I'm working on that

I don't ever add physics because fuck that lol

That is the challenge of me for knowing nothing about ripping and after that convert to mmd(I have done for doing pmx editor before, but long ago when I was young. I need time to re memory about this program.)

can I ask about the siffrin mmd models I would honestly see about making (etc) isat models myself but I have a curse where every time I try to rig a mmd model I wake up in a ditch covered in blood (not my fault)

Only bad thing is that I haven't converted models to pmx in ages and am currently not in a good position/mental state to work on importing/exporting stuff (aka my back hurts from my temporary "gaming setup" and I have to help fix up the basement that got flooded)

Maybe ill have enough time and patience to work on them but in meantime, if anyone has the motivation to do the converting for the purpose of having me making them hold hands and do dumb dances shoot me a dm lol. (Please note I don't expect people to do this, Im just being silly lol)

[Blender to MMD] A MW idiot's journey

Hi everyone! I'm sharing part of my journey to turn the Mouthwashing characters into MMD models (Of course! Others have done this already, but I'm doing it from scratch 'cause I later want to import my bastard son too (I've commissioned his model from PinterHex_Studio) and well, a girl's gotta know her way around stuff.

So first of all! I first got the Mouthwashing characters from Aarontaro's Sketchfab page. He is behind several of the amazing versions that you've probably seen around in VRChat videos!

Then I went outta my way and got Blender (But I don't like animating there so I of course I wanted to go to MMD to feel like my cringy self from when I was 12), I got the version 2.77 for Windows64. Then I got the MMD Tools by sugiany (I apologize if I got the credits wrong). After fighting for a while trying to install it since I was doing this late at night, I began to test out the whole import, export, convertion thing.

In Blender everything worked just fine, I imported him, added him his textures and all (Tho I realized waaaaay later that I wasn't putting him the Textures but putting him Material) so when I first managed to import his model in PMX Editor (Ver. 0.2.2.2) he looked like this, he didn't even look like the typical white glitch in PMX Editor

""Ok, finally managed to export his fbx ass to pmx but Jimmy, I get I draw you dark skinned but this is ridiculous why are your textures not showing?!"" (Mf really embraced being a dead pixel)

(Black?! My son is black!? joke because I had to laugh it off instead of getting mad)

So, I went back to Blender where I found out the thing about Material =/= texture. (Yeah of course, someone who knows about this would probably have figured that out faster, but I'm not, I'm just a common girl doing girly things).

Once solved the texture problem, now he looks fine in PMX Editor but badly in MMD. Need to figure out how to solve the Vertex issue.

The solution was particulary simple, it was just going to Edit in PMX Editor then click on "Vertex Morph Normalize" option.

See, Jimmy? Unlike you, I'm slowly fixing it. Now we have to make sure your Bones aren't as fucked up (I mean I can still pose him and animate him if I feel like it, but I want it to be more comfortable) which I'll do later since I have work to do

Mf thinks he can make my life miserable. I love how pissed off he looks, he can't get away with shit lmao

Anyway! I hope you had as much fun as I did while revisiting this whole fiasco, I swear it looks simple in this post, but I've been literally doing this for several hours and got mad in the middle of the night too, the things I do because I want to do silly animations and cringe shit besides some rancid argentinian tiktoks with these characters lmao.
