Should he tell Cody that the Order of Hermes dragged those unruly mages to trial? Maybe not, what point was there to bother him with the intricate ways of their politics and society? Alas, he could offer one single reassurance.

"If you come across or know of a mage that's engaging in such terrible activities, please tell me. We could take their magic away and make the world safer for all of us-"

He stopped for a moment, looking back at the old man that still seemed very much like he wanted to pick up a fight.

"Well... Considering he has a MAGA hat on, I doubt he'll be hard to rile up. Maybe if we bring up gun control... I'm also ready to tell him I'm gay and see his face of disgust."

"Yeah, yeah, good luck with that one. Telling someone not to do a thing often makes them want to do the thing more."

Being one of three kids, he had plenty of experience with being on either side of that coin, but his sister, his sister really knew how to push that boundary as far as possible before it broke. Her level of malicious compliance was both terrifying and astoundingly impressive.

"Think if we start bitching about the government, we can goad him into coming over to set us straight? Because if he says those words, I get to play the bi card and that is always fun."

that's a good question. i'll be honest with you, i've never thought about it before so it is hard to say at the top of my head. although i have heard i look like one of my former co stars whom i worked along side with, dylan sprayberry. aw that must be fun to be looked like your best friend though. but from a far, you look like some other celebrity but i can't put my finger on it. @mollymaehague

He could hardly blame Cody. As a Quaesitor, he had seen and brought to justice some of those terrible wizards that gave them the terrible reputation. They were vicious, to say the least. Not wanting any trouble was the reasonable thing to do, so he decided not to insist.

"Well, if you're ever in trouble with mages, do give me a call. It's kind of my job to make sure they fall in line, is all."

He glanced back at the man they were talking about, almost feeling sorry for the level of bitterness he had. Almost.

"Hm, with a mindset like his, I'd say he also believes black people should have their own neighborhoods away from his... Yikes. I bet he'd send me back to my country too."

"Yeah, don't count on that. More of a stay-in-my-own-lane sort of person when it comes to that sort of stuff. Last thing I need is to get involved, someone get punished, and their friends come after me or my siblings."

Even in general, Cody had always been more of a live and let live kind of guy and he stuck to it even harder when it came to potentially dangerous situations. Some things were just not worth prodding at.

"I got ten that says he's still mad about the ending of segregation but claims he's not racist."

"Yeah, I mean those exactly," Sebas nodded in agreement. There was also a hint of guilt in his eyes, knowing there was nothing he could say that would erase the terrible things some of his fellow mages had done in the past. "You know, the Order I work for has been trying to regulate and supress those mages who damage the supernatural community. But it seems like no matter how much we try, there's still so much work to be done..."

A sigh escaped him at the realization of how hard it was going to be to change the magical society for the better. Too many centuries of offenses and transgressions had been piling up.

He looked back up at the old man in question, finding some truth in Cody's words. Maybe it was taking things a step too far and he was hardly worth it.

"Then by all means, let's go back to complaining loudly. I'll pitch in-"

"Oh you mean the ones that like to use our organs for dark and twisty things? Yeah, no, never crossed my mind." He had been warned about specific names since he was a kid and the warnings had stuck with him pretty heavily.

He hummed, noticing the cease in movement and choosing not to remark on it. He was fairly certain he didn't want to know what the other had been doing.

"That runs the risk of bad burns and skin graphs. He's an old ass, sure, but not a real danger to the world or anyone else. Annoying him is one thing, causing harm though?" He let out a low whistle and shook his head. "Seems kind of like taking things a step too far."

"Oooof, no wonder your mother felt that way towards magic. I know some groups of mages do make a living of... well... giving your kind a hard time," Sebas offered in a soft tone, an apologetic smile gracing his lips. "I'm sorry about them-"

His gaze dropped for a moment to the napkin where he was starting to draw his runes into. He stopped immediately after he heard Cody's last comment knowing he did have a point. It was such a common practice for mages that he had failed to realize how it looked to the outside world.

"Yeah... doesn't offend me, but you do have a point. Let's not-- we can brainstorm other ways to get rid of the old man. I could go and pretend I'm a clumsy idiot and spill coffee on him."

"Hyena raised by an ex-hunter. Ma's pretty against all kinds of magic where it can be avoided."

Harmless. It sounded uncomfortably close to a form of mind control to Cody and the thought alone was enough to make the hair on the back of his neck stand. Kaylee would have been intrigued, but Cody had always preferred a sense of caution that his sister had never possessed. Caleb was harder to gauge, but he was still less cautious than Cody was.

"You do realize how kind of creepy that sounds, right? Like, no offense, but yikes."

"So your idea of saving a poor waitress from being bothered by a senile man is to draw all of his attention to you?" Sebas asked, both confused and amused at the ridiculous way a simple visit to the diner had turned out.

Granted, he would've dealt with the situation a lot differently, but when Cody put things like that, he also was invested in sparing the poor waitress from dealing with the old man.

"Dude, is you want the old geezer gone, I can just cast a suggestion spell... Just give me a minute."

"Eh, I'm too cute to kick out. Besides, I'm not saying anything untrue and if that AARP asshole wants to keep sneering, I'm going to keep egging him on. What's he gonna do? Hit me? He's like 90. Besides, this keeps him from being a sexist troll to the waitress. I see no flaws in my plan."

Sebastián could understand that feeling. He had been taught as well not to draw too much attention to himself. Perhaps that's why he loved mind magic, it was so subtle and left barely any traces. He was even starting to scribble a few runes on a napkin when the other's comment stopped him dead in his tracks.

"Ah, well- I guess it depends on the kind of magic? Not that I'm one to talk. I'm a mage, so your mother probably warned you about us too-"

He looked around, making sure nobody was paying attention to their conversation before carrying on.

"It's a simple suggestion spell. You put some power into your words so your target feels like you have a point. Harmless, really."

"Old doesn't always mean senile, but yeah, pretty much?" he replied, not seeing what the big deal was.

Sure, Cody had always been taught not to draw attention to himself. He wasn't human and the wrong attention could get him killed, but no one smelled like gunpowder or blood, so he figured he was safe enough.

"That sounds creepy, not gonna lie there. Ma was pretty big on the don't fuck with magic speech."

"Oh for sure, but I think if you complain loudly one more time, the waitress is gonna kick us out of the diner, dude... Maybe complain softly? Like, in lowercase-"

Well, I wouldn’t say I’ve been killing it, but I certainly have been trying to etch my own legacy and path as an independent wrestler. The WWE will always be a place I can consider home, seeing as it set in motion a series of opportunities for me to grow amongst world class competition. It gave me a foundation for me to get my name out there and to become a household name as well as long live the Rhodes name. I can’t say that that invitation would be taken into consideration just yet, but in the future I’ll never say never. I will say that I’m honored to know that despite leaving the company, the door is still open to a return. I will admit that leaving the company had me thinking for awhile if I made a bad decision. But to hear you personally give me an open door, it’s rewarding to me. Thank you for that. I greatly appreciate it.

Whatever it may be, keep doing it. You’re passing with flying colors. I’ve been alright. Taking each day/week as it comes. Happened to catch the big announcement last night on RAW from social media. monumental announcement for the entire Women’s Division. Awesome news.
