If Zevran never saw another group of darkspawn again, it would be a lifetime too soon. Why were there so bloody many of them?

"Warden," Zevran begins, and he knows he's a little bit delirious from the blood loss, but he can't quite find it in himself to stop talking, not when Elspeth is looking at him with such focused concern. "Warden, this pattern of me finding myself bloodied, knocking on the door of Death itself beneath your very capable hands, is one I would be tired of repeating, were your hands not so capable, and your eyes not shining crystals. Ow! Brasca!"

Maker, but that cut across his ribs hurts. It's probably a shallow one, his pride damaged more than his skin, but still.

        Elspeth murmurs a soft apology at Zevran’s pained outburst, working as gently as she can to apply the poultice to his wound. Truth be told, she’s just glad she has a skill worth contributing. 

       “Shining crystals?” she says, arching a brow. A slight smile graces her lips. “I’m afraid flattery won’t get this done any faster. Hold still.” She finishes with the poultice and sets it aside in favor of a bandage, leaning forward to wrap it around his chest, teasing: “There are less dangerous ways to get my attention, you know.”

     if it were not for the air knocked out of his lungs and stinging pain radiating from his back,  he would have more of a witty response to throw back.   instead,  matthias is focusing on sitting up on his elbows and regaining his breath for a moment long enough that the world stops shifting underneath him.   (the binding material wrapped around his chest certainly wasn't helping matters, but it was a necessary trade off.)   it would have been wise to accept a helping hand after being thrown to the ground as violently as it was,  but his head had already shook no before he was particularly conscious of the action.   once he thinks himself capable,  matthias gets up onto his feet with only a small stumble as his body sorts itself out.   shooting a sidelong gaze towards zevran,  he breathily adds,  ❝   see? fine.   ❞

MiRanen had- well, he’d had things to do, you know. And some of those things required him going off on his own, and returning in such a state. It was uncomfortable but not unbearable, and he really-- really wanted comfort. His forehead thunked against Zevran’s door, exhaustion settling in his bones. A bath might be wise, but with all the little cuts and scrapes, it would likely do more harm than good... probably. 

Lifting a hand, he knocked a couple of times, not bothering to straighten up. That was an accident waiting to happen.

    Ginny drops his hand to reveal a broad grin, dimpling at Zevran as he claps his hands together. He’s still chortling as he tries to speak, “Aye, now that’s a good ‘un, alright...” The fence nods his auburn head and then hums in the back of his throat, leaning in towards Zevran as he does so. Violent eyes peer into Zevran’s amber ones and Ginny reaches out, taking one of Zevran’s hands and he raises it so as to place a kiss atop it. “Ojalá la mitad de las estrellas brillaran tanto como tus ojos.” And he winks, for good measure.

        Her time in Fort Drakon is a blur of terrible indignities Elspeth is too hollowed out inside to feel. They strip her down to almost nothing and toss her in a cell, and she doesn’t have the strength to be embarrassed. They drag her out again some hours later and she knows she ought to feel afraid. 

        At some point, she must black out from the pain. There’s a rush of blazing heat and then...darkness, and the scent of charred flesh. Elspeth slips gladly into unconsciousness only to be met with gruesome visions: Cousland Castle burning down around her, the Archdemon gnashing its great teeth, blood on her hands, so much blood on her hands. 

        It’s all she knows for some time, until the sound of voices rouses her from her dreams. Ginger lashes flutter against freckled cheeks as she somehow manages to open her eyes. There’s someone picking the lock that binds her left wrist. She blinks wearily. “Zev?” For the first time since throwing down her arms at Cauthrien’s feet, she feels a glimmer of hope. “You came for me.”

@corvidblade | always accepting "Only all the time," he sighs, unfolding slightly from his perch--upside-down, legs-slung over the back of a sofa--to reach for his drink. He hasn't quite thought through how to safely drink it yet from this position, and so he holds it still in dainty fingers. Maybe Zevran will take pity on him. "Though in my case, I'd much rather fantasize about doing the murdering myself. Why~?"

I think it'd be a pretty interesting way of going about it, so long as there is some form of communication in place of speech. Best to create a decent balance so the rp partner isn't left doing all the work.

Yes, this is very true. I feel like if you’re not precise enough in your description of a character’s communication style, it could really easily start to feel like your partner has to do the heavy lifting which is no fun for anyone. It’s probably better to really nail down the character’s specific forms of communication before trying to jump into something blind.

I've done it before. It's challenging but fun.

I did a looooooooong long time ago (like 15 years long time ago) and, uh... it didn’t go well. But I like to think I’ve improved since then lmao It will definitely be a challenge, but I am looking forward to this character a lot.

I think it's absolutely fine. DA canonically has sign language for the Silent Sisters, but past that there's plenty of ways to nonverbally communicate!

Oh true! I actually completely forgot about the Silent Sisters. But yes, there’s definitely plenty of other avenues for nonverbal communication, and honestly I think that aspect by itself will be interesting to explore. Especially in the kinds of weird situations muses get up to lol

rp is inherently communication but there are so many things ppl can do that may or may not include actively communicating so i don't see why it would pose any problems - there are many ways to communicate and part of the amazing side of rp is being able to explore things like that!

Agreeeeed! Its one of the reasons I’m really looking forward to writing this character. RP really offers a lot of opportunity for growth as a writer and I think this will definitely be a good learning experience in developing my descriptive powers for sure.

My OC is mute and I've had a reasonable level of interest in him when I stray that way, although admittedly that's with incorporating other methods of communication as well.

That is very comforting to hear actually, and it seems like the general consensus is in support of other nonverbal forms of communication, which to me obviously makes a lot of sense. I’m just really happy to hear you’ve experienced success with your character!

Good to know! But yeah, again the trick will definitely be trying to make sure you don’t dump the weight on your partner, and you’re able to keep them invested and the topic interesting. Gotta exercise those creative muscles.

honestly as long as you give enough to respond to, either communication via writing or pictionary or through actions, I don't see a problem. Personally I'm a little wary about interacting on Talon with them because my boy can't read and I worry about everything turning into a frustrating game of pictionary but other than that I'd have absolutely no issue

Yeah that makes a ton of sense. I feel like in circumstances like that, if RP was to happen, it would definitely need to be discussed and plotted beforehand to get a feel for the characters and establish their form of interaction before trying to jump into it in a narrative format. At least then you’d know what to expect and you and your writing partner aren’t just flailing at each other. It’s definitely something to consider.

Well, that was a surprise. And also an annoyance it had slipped from his view for so long. The elf was thorough, that’s what he had been known for. A cocky, arrogant man only a few years older than himself who had rose through the ranks of the Crows so well, only to be felled by the Hero of Ferelden...

Or so it had been believed.

But there was Zevran Arainai, walking around, and very clearly not dead. Unless someone had brought him back from the grave. Unlikely, but possible, all things considered.

How long had he been working with the Inquisition? Had he been aware of Sergio? More than likely, yes. He was that good after all.

“ I see the dead don’t stay dead,do they, Arainai?” he greeted, stepping out from where he had been cloaked in shadows. If this had been before, Sergio would have tried his had at killing the other man...

But it was no longer.
