Chapter 02 | Closer
“And when I see you then I know it will be next to me
And when I need you I know you will be there with me
I'll never leave you”
April, 2013, Stuttgart
It was my first time in Germany and I was playing Maria Sharapova in the Stuttgart Open Final. I was still practically a rookie at the time, having debuted at pro tennis only a year prior. At the time I already had a couple masters titles and the press was paying close attention to me. Young, rich, pretty and full of potential. I had a good sense of style and I inherited my parents' fame and connections. An ‘it-girl’, that was the term they were using. To make things more interesting for the tabloids, I would get a new boyfriend every few months. The guy at the time was Leon Goretzka, a football player, 18 years old just like me. He was playing for Schalke 04, 400 km away from Stuttgart, and we would meet in person for the first time after the tournament.
Up until then our flirting was online. We met through social media and hit it off immediately. Leon was a charming prince and it was so nice talking to someone who was going through the same things as I was.
leon:
no way you’re playing sharapova :o think you can win??
liv:
i know right!! so cool
why don’t you watch the match and find out ;)
Getting to play with the grown ups for the first time. The pressure to be perfect. The press constantly telling the world you’re the next big thing, when you know for a fact they’re just waiting for you to stumble so they can tear you down. He just got it, he understood me when not a lot of people seemed genuinely interested in trying to.
“Feeling confident?” My dad asked before the match.
“As always.” I answered with a smile.
“That’s my girl!”
An hour and a half later I was lifting another trophy. I walked off the court, sweat pouring down my face and my heart racing. Maria had given me a run for my money, but I had managed to pull off a win in the end.
As I made my way back to the locker room, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me. The pressure to perform had been intense, and I knew that one misstep could have cost me the match. But I kept my cool, stayed focused, and ultimately came out on top.
I smiled to myself, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. I knew that there would be more challenges and more pressure to come, but for now, I was content to bask in the glow of another victory
After the tournament, I had a few days to spare before my next match, so I rented a Lamborghini and took a road trip to Gelsenkirchen to meet Leon. I was starting to get a taste of being an adult, with my parents allowing me to do whatever I wanted, as long as I showed up to practice on time, kept myself fit and won titles. Everything else was up to me. I packed my bags and set out on the Autobahn. The scenery was breathtaking as I drove through the German countryside, passing fields of bright yellow rapeseed flowers and quaint villages with traditional half-timbered houses. As I approached Gelsenkirchen, I could feel my excitement building. My first stop was the Veltins-Arena, home of the Schalke 04 football club. The stadium was stunning, massive and so much different from a tennis stadium. They were playing against Eintracht Frankfurt that night and Leon was in the starting 11.
“You’re beautiful.” Leon said to me after the match, we were both in my car driving to the hotel I was staying at. “So much more beautiful in person.” At the hotel room we ordered food and ate in bed.
“Congratulations on your win! That was amazing, I actually got to watch with my parents. We were all cheering for you.” Leon looked at me with bright eyes, almost like a fan.
“Well, congrats on your win, too! The game was so cool, I don’t even know a lot about football, but it was super fun.”
“Ah, but I didn’t get a trophy. You actually won a tournament!”
There was so much to talk and so much to do, we didn’t have enough time. So it didn’t take long for our clothes to decorate the bedroom floor. We were both exhausted from work, but that wasn’t an issue that night.
“You feel so good, here, let me take care of you.” Leon was inside of me, we were on the floor on our second round. Our bodies sticky with sweat and spit, our moans filling the bedroom; I was in a trance. He smelled amazing, he tasted amazing. Every cell of my body was begging for him. He had his hand on my clit while he was fucking me. “Cum on me, let me feel it.” He was behind me, pulling my hair. I could only answer him with a nod, my mouth open, my eyes closed.
Sex had never felt like that before. We came at the same time and I thought it meant that it was love. Our meeting was restricted to the hotel, in the morning we had breakfast in bed. It was raining and when we fucked again I considered just staying there forever. But I had to go back home soon, to the Portugal Open.
“I just want to stay like this.” I was laying in bed and he was on top of me, inside of me, kissing my face. “Forever.”
“I’m sorry, Liv, I don’t think I can last forever.” He said giggling.
“We’re gonna be fine, right? We can handle this.” We were outside my car, saying our goodbyes. I would drive to the airport and meet my father there. I was so nervous, it felt like insanity to turn this into a full relationship, but it also felt like insanity to walk away.
“Yes, we can do this.” He cupped my face in between his big hands. “I’m not giving up on us.” Before boarding the airplane I got a text.
leon:
missing you already
June, 2013, Nuremberg
Leon and I were inseparable then. Life was good, we were always in touch through text messages, phone and video calls. We talked about everything. When the WTA calendar gave me a chance to go back to Germany we decided to make our relationship official to our families and introduce them.
The Nuremberg tournament was on clay. After my first match, staring at my dirty sneakers and completely destroyed socks, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness. I looked up at my parents in the stands and watched Leon clapping, celebrating my victory sitting right next to my 11 years old sister. By their side, there were a couple of unfamiliar faces – Leon’s parents.
The match was intense, with my opponent and I trading points back and forth, but I was overly confident that day and intended on showing off. In the end, I managed to come out on top once again, winning the match in straight sets.
As I walked off the court, I could feel the adrenaline still pumping through my veins. Later, after showering, we met at the lobby, on our way to a restaurant. We were all having lunch together.
"Congratulations on the win," Leon said, giving me a quick hug.
"Thank you, baby." I replied, smiling. His parents smiled warmly at me, congratulating me while Leon introduced us. At the restaurant, which I couldn't pronounce the name of, we sat at a large table by the window looking out at Nuremberg's busy streets.
“What a lovely city, I always wanted to know more about Germany!” Mom had a smile from ear to ear. I think she was prouder from me landing an athlete boyfriend than from me winning my match.
He wasn’t the first boy I introduced to my family, but that time it felt different. Like we could actually make it, against all odds. I was in love like never before. The sort of blinding, deafening young love that I would never experience again. My mother was excited, he was all she ever dreamed for me. My father, on the other hand, looked at me as if knew. Being a teenager, I was offended by his behavior. How dare he. Looking at me as if my long distance-also athlete boyfriend and I are not gonna make it past a year. How dare him act like he knows around this time next year I’ll be introducing him to a new boyfriend.
“And this is my best friend Sofie.” My little sister was showing Leon some pictures on her phone. Chiara loved him immediately and he was the sweetest with her. By the end of the dinner they had private jokes and she was determined to learn german. His parents seemed genuinely interested in me and I was picturing us spending Christmas together.
Our relationship continued like that, only meeting in person a couple days at a time, searching for privacy and creating our love dens in luxury hotel rooms. Still managed to pose for the Bild front page a couple times, despite our best efforts. We were walking out of his apartment once, holding hands.
“I’m so lucky.” Leon kissed me. “I don't want to let you go.” I kissed him back.
“I’m going down the street to get us some coffee, you weirdo.” I giggled, but Leon continued with a serious face.
“Just kiss me, silly.”
For the following months, pictures of me and pages of newspapers reporting my victories would decorate Leon’s bedroom.
“Honey, don’t cry. Baby, come here.” We were saying goodbye once again, that time we only managed to spend a few hours together. I couldn’t hold back my tears. I was leaving a part of me with him every single time.
“I think I love you.” I whispered through my tears. “What am I going to do?”
“You’re going to let me love you too.”
June, 2013, London
While practicing for Wimbledon that year, dad and I had a big fight. I don’t remember how it started. I was texting Leon during a break, I remember worrying about him, his health, his games, and then my dad was all over my face screaming at me. “I would never accuse you of having common sense, Olivia.” My father yelled. “Where do you think he is right now? Do you think he's alone, waiting for you to find time in your schedule? This is ridiculous, just get back to training.”
When I lifted the trophy for my first Grand Slam win, that’s what I was thinking about.
September, 2013, Beijing
The distance was particularly hard on me. I missed Leon terribly and it was hard for me to focus on my matches when I was constantly thinking about him. I had to keep my priorities straight and my career came first. We tried to make it work, but besides our best efforts the distance continued to take its toll. There were times when we would argue over small things and times when we would go days without talking. It just wasn’t worth it. I couldn’t find a way to be happy being away from him.
“I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry.” My voice was barely audible, I had already been crying for hours before calling him.
"This is it? You’re just giving up on us?” He yelled over the phone. I had nightmares  for years about making Leon cry. I never forgave myself for that.
“That’s enough, Olivia.” My father said. I couldn’t sleep or eat properly for days after the breakup. The realization that I would never get to have a normal relationship was affecting more than anything else. If things didn’t work out with who I thought was my soulmate, who never hurted me, who I loved so much; then it wouldn’t work with anybody ever. I would die alone. “He’s just a boy, you’ll get over it.”
There was nothing else for me to do except going back to court. I deleted our pictures and texts, threw away his gifts and anything that reminded me of him. I dated a few times after that, but it was never the same. I understood what I had to do to keep myself relevant and competitive. That’s all that mattered. I learned to keep a distance, to build walls and keep myself safe.

Why Pressure House Washing Ipswich Is Necessary
Tumblr media
If you’re preparing to sell your home, you’ll want your property’s exterior surfaces to look their best. This requires a professional Ipswich high pressure cleaning.
Mould spores and dirt buildup on your outdoor surfaces can lead to health issues for you and your family. Our soft washing technique eliminates these allergenic bacteria and fungi, leaving you with a healthy living environment. To know more about House Washing Ipswich, visit the A Clean House Washing website or call 0419778863.
Dirty surfaces can impact your property’s curb appeal and deteriorate the condition of your house’s exterior. Mildew, mould, and airborne pollutants can form dark streaks on siding that compromise the beauty of your home and create an ideal habitat for spore-bearing bacteria.
High pressure cleaning is a fast and cost-effective way to clean your outdoor areas. However, it is important to hire a professional with experience in this field to ensure that the right water PSI is used and the job is done safely. This prevents cracking and water damage to surfaces and landscaping.
A professional roof cleaning Ipswich service can save you thousands of dollars in repairs and maintenance costs by protecting the longevity, appearance, and quality of your roof surface. Regular roof cleaning also enhances the beauty of your property and increases the saleability of your home. It can even help you secure a lower insurance premium. Our services include driveway, brick and stone, concrete, building, wall & fence cleaning, paver washing and tennis court cleaning.
Many homeowners struggle to maintain a clean exterior because dirt, mildew and airborne pollutants diminish curb appeal. Regular high-pressure washing can remove these stains, and protect the life of your home. But this method can cause damage if it’s not used correctly, so it’s best left to the professionals.
Camira’s humid weather is an ideal habitat for spore-bearing bacteria that produce dark stains on siding and roofs. These stains not only detract from the beauty of your home, but they can also weaken the structure of the exterior. A professional soft wash service can safely clean away these stains without causing damage to the surfaces underneath.
Pressure cleaning of wood decks and fences is essential before staining or oiling. These surfaces can be stained or oiled to enhance their appearance, but they must first be cleaned to remove mill glaze and other contaminants. This is a process that requires expertise and experience, so it’s best left to the experts.
We offer a wide range of pressure cleaning services such as driveway cleaning, concrete washing, building cleaning, wall and fence cleaning in Ipswich. We use contractor grade cleaners with the correct PSI water pressure to ensure that your home is cleaned without damage. We can clean a variety of surfaces, including concrete, pavers, bricks, tiles and tennis courts. We can also clean the exterior of your home, removing mildew and dirt that you may struggle to remove yourself with a regular garden hose or household solutions.
Choosing an experienced and reliable high pressure cleaning company can save you time and money. Many local businesses provide on time guarantees and are insured. The most popular insured high pressure cleaners in Ipswich include A Clean House Washing and maintenance, Don’t Sweat It Bond Cleans, and Exclusive Service Solutions. These companies have a high customer satisfaction rating and are dedicated to achieving quality results. All work is carried out by trained professionals and is backed up by a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
It is easy to neglect the exterior of your home as you spend most of your time indoors, but it should be cleaned regularly to prevent it from becoming a breeding ground for mildew and mould. Regular house pressure cleaning can remove these growths, making your house look newer and enhancing its curb appeal. It is also essential for protecting your family from health conditions caused by fungi and bacteria.
Whether your exterior surfaces are made of brick, render, cement, or stone, they can all benefit from high-pressure cleaning. However, you should be careful when using a high-pressure cleaner to avoid damaging delicate surfaces.
A professional can use a variety of techniques to target specific areas and achieve optimal cleaning results. For example, concrete driveways need higher water PSI levels to remove ingrained pollutants, while painted fences require lower pressures to prevent damage. They can also use chemicals and biodegradable detergents to enhance the cleaning process. To know more about House Washing Ipswich, visit the A Clean House Washing website or call 0419778863.

Purple Thunder (Roger Taylor Series) - Part 2
(present/old) Roger Taylor x  Reader
**
Notes:** Sorry for grammar mistakes/ weird sentence structures. English is not my first language but anyways, I gave it a go. Enjoy and feel free to submit requests, feedback etc.
There are going to be some inaccuracies regarding song lyrics throughout the series.
This is what I imagined Reader to wear:
Tumblr media
Part 2: You woke up the next day to an empty bed, because Josh had already gone to a band meeting for his upcoming tour.  You made your way into the kitchen to find a note on the counter: *Morning babe, I’m at the studio, coffee should still be hot. Have fun today, miss you already, I love you*
With a smile on your face, you pour the coffee into your own merchandise mug and grab your phone.
*5 unread messages*
*From: Ruf - Darkness*
“you’re meeting up with my dad today??? :O why didn’t you tell me? ☹ x ” – 7.03 am “oh sorry, good morning, (Y/N) :D  x” – 7.04 am “congrats on the Grammy by the way, I want to be you when I grow up 😉 x” – 7.10 am “my dad told me to take you home to his home studio in Surrey, if that’s ok x” – 7.20 am “I’ll pick you up at 11 x” – 7.24 am
You first met Rufus when your band was a support group for his band ‘The Darkness’, during that time you also had a short fling with his lead singer. Honestly though, it was all about the parties, coke and booze. On one of those drunken nights you ‘accidently’ expressed your love for Queen and especially Roger, to Rufus. He was so shitfaced that he probably forgot every word you said anyways.
You were a little disappointed, that Roger didn’t text or call you himself, since you exchanged numbers the night before.  Taking a quick glance at the clock you nearly dropped your mug. 10.33 am. ‘Fuck, how am I supposed to get ready within the next 27 minutes?’, you thought to yourself. You took a quick shower, brushed your teeth, put on a white lace bralette, some light – blue ripped jeans and a fluffy, short coat. A little exposing, but that was your trademark after all and you couldn’t just show up to Roger fucking Taylor’s house wearing joggers and an old, washed out shirt, right? While applying your eyeliner you received a message on your phone:
*From: Ruf – Darkness* “I’m outside x”
You took one last glance in the mirror, locked the door and made your way outside. There was Rufus, leaning against a red Ferrari 308 GTB. Once he spotted you, a smile appeared on his face and he greeted you with a big hug: “Ahhh, (Y/N)! Long time no see, how have you been?” “Pretty good, how else would a Grammy winner feel?”, you replied. “Congratulations, majesty. I meant what I said by the way, I want to be you when I grow up”, you chuckled at his comment. “Ruf, you’re older than me. Nice car you got there!” He opened the door for you, closed it, got in on the driver’s side and the car journey began.   “My dad actually gifted it to me, he bought it in 1983, but this bad boy is still in the best shape. You look very pretty today! Who’d you dress up for, though? We’re just going to see my dad and you’re going to be locked up in a studio”, he chuckled. His words made you blush, but thankfully he didn’t notice. “Thank you. But what do you mean, Ruf? I always wear this kind of stuff. How long is the drive anyway?” “About 35 minutes, I lived in Surrey my whole life. My sisters lived with my mum though. The only people that still live in the Surrey home are my dad and his wife.”, he explained. Right. You totally forgot that Roger was a married man. “I see, some embarrassing childhood pictures I could browse for then?!”, you tried to cheer yourself up. “Don’t even try, love”, he chuckled.
The drive went by quickly and you found yourself in front of the biggest house you’d ever seen. And you’d seen plenty of them. It was majestic, close to a castle, with lots of greenery. Hell, the garden was at least ten times as big as your apartment in the city of London, which was far from small itself.
“T- that’s where you grew up?”, you stuttered. “Yeah my dad owns a few houses. One’s in Ibiza, one in Switzerland, a mansion in LA, there’s also the apartment in Kensington. I used to live in Kensington one with my girlfriend, but we decided to get our own place in Soho”, he laughed. “So nice to hear, how’s Jessica by the way?” you asked as you both walk towards the front door. “She’s good, very good. But it’s so hard to have such hectic lives, my touring and her modelling job. Who am I to tell you about these kinds of things? You know exactly what I’m talking about. Greet Josh from me, by the way.”, he answered. Hearing those words, your mind drifted to your boyfriend, Josh, and you wondered what he was on about in this moment. Your thoughts were cut off as the door swung open. “Hi, there you are, kids.” Kids. Ouch. “Nice to see you again Mr. Taylor!”, you stretched out your hand. “C’mere”, he took you by surprise and pulled you into a big hug. When he released you from the probably best hug you’d ever received, a slight pink shade started to form on your cheeks. Thankfully the two didn’t notice, because he turned to Rufus and greeted him just the same way. Rogers expensive cologne still lingered on your chest from the hug and you swore it was your favorite smell already. “You two must be hungry, I prepared some ‘pigs in blankets’ for lunch. I know it’s not much, but Sarina’s not here and I suck at cooking.”, Roger stated proudly. “Sorry pap’s, I can’t stay over, I promised my girl Jessica to accompany her to a photoshoot. (Y/N)? I’ll pick you up at 8 to go back home?”, Rufus asked you. “Don’t bother, Rufus, enjoy your time with Jess.”, Roger said, as he turned to you “I can give you a ride home, (Y/N). I figured to stay in Kensington for the upcoming weeks, since my wife is gone to shoot a new movie. So if you don’t mind…” “I’d appreciate that, thank you, Mr. Taylor”, you smiled kindly. “It’s Roger for you, don’t make me even older than I already than”, he said with a sad smile, never leaving your eyes. “You’re not that old”, you decided to cheer him up. “She’s right”, Rufus chimed in. “..you still got it….. for an old man”, he laughed. Roger took it with humor and was quick to tell him: “Don’t you have somewhere to be, son?” A quick goodbye was exchanged, with the two of you left in the kitchen.
“Let me give you a quick house tour before we get to work, darling?”, his words sent shivers down your spine. With each room, your eyes grew bigger and bigger, it must have cost a fortune, made you speechless and Roger noticed your excitement, which made him kind of proud of himself. The mansion included seven bedrooms, a huge swimming pool, a Jacuzzi, several game rooms, stables and a tennis court outside. “Wow”, was the only thing you were able to mouth while you two stood in front of the lake, right beside his house. “You know, I always used to come down here, when things get too crazy. I’ve written so many songs here. It’s inspirational, peaceful.” “I can see exactly what you mean”, you agreed with him. “When things got too crazy for me, I never really had somewhere to go, you know? To blow some steam off. That’s why I literally exploded”, you sad with a sad smile. “Sorry to bore you with that.” “No, no, I know what it’s like, love. The constant pressure, people being complete wankers and judging your every move, I’ve been there before, don’t worry about that”, he gave you sympathetic smile. “…except that there isn’t a Grammy stood on my trophy wall”, he continued. You two started to laugh when a serious expression started to form on his face: “Seriously though, don’t let these wankers get to you. You’re a talented, pretty, young girl. If you should ever need some advice, help or anything, I’d love to help you out, to mentor you. You’ve got a bright future ahead of you, this is only the beginning.”   “Thank you, that means a lot coming from rock royalty, Mr. T-, I mean Roger”, you blushed. “Let’s get to work, shall we?”, you asked to escape the situation. It didn’t make you feel uncomfortable, in fact, you wanted to hug him and shower him with compliments, but that would be too weird, right? You two made your way to the back of the house where his home studio was situated. It was bigger than any recording studio you’d ever been in. You spotted approximately 20 guitars, a beautiful white piano, a ukulele, 5 drum kits in different sizes etc. You found yourself admire the walls, which held framed drum skins of his, one had his face on, another one had a simple ‘Queen’ written over it, and right next to that, one with the Queen logo. As you reached the last one a ‘smile’ crept onto your face, as it was the Smile band logo (see what I did there? 😉) You were so mesmerized by the drum skins, that you didn’t notice Roger standing right behind you. “I see you’ve found the old gems, love”, he made you jump. You couldn’t even find the words to say before he began: “So I’ve got this little song here and I’d like to release it sometime soon, but I’d love to hear your opinion on it, your honest opinion!”, with that the song began to play.
A heavy guitar started the song, while a steady beat kicked in in the background, accompanied by the lyrics ‘wake up, you boys; shape up, you girls; are you, aware; there’s gangsters running this world’. You lost it at the next part when there was heavy drumming involved, nodding your head to the beat, while Roger always kept his eyes on you, to get a great view of your reaction. Once the song was over, he broke the silence: “So? How’s that? Be brutally honest!”
“Honestly?”, you managed to keep a straight face which turned into a smile, “I love it, the guitars, the drums, the lyrics, it’s catchy and has a real meaning.”
“Are you sure? I could spend a little more time on mixing it to-“ “It’s perfect, Roger, I mean it”, you cut him off. He smiled at you. How could a rock legend like him be so self – conscious? As he fiddled with the buttons on the mixing board you found yourself staring at him. Admiring his beauty, blue ocean eyes, you could get lost in them. You dreamed of situations like this since you were younger, even younger than now. He didn’t look his age at all, his smile looked the same as it did in 1975. Damn. How could anybody be so beautiful?
“..did you just hear me?” “Sorry, what?” “I asked if you want to grab something to eat right now? We could take it down to the lake” “That sounds awesome”, you answered. “What’s the song called?”, you asked as you dipped your feet into the lake, taking a bite from the ‘pig in a blanket’. “Gangsters are running this world, actually. I also dubbed it to be the ‘purple version’” You nearly choked at his words. “Purple?”, asked. “Yeah, it’s kind of an homage to you and your band. You inspired me on the musical parts” For the literally hundredth time that day you felt speechless. You just stared at him searching for words, which you most certainly couldn’t find. This atmosphere inspired you to the fullest: peace, silence, only birds chirping, you decided to scribble down some lyrics into your notebook. You didn’t even have to think hard about it, it just came naturally. Once you looked up, Roger was already looking at you. “What? Do I have something on my face?”, you asked. “No, was just admiring the view, I must say you look very beautiful today. Not just today, you always do.”, he said. You thanked him and were quick to excuse yourself to the bathroom, even though had no intention to use it. Is this really happening? You splashed some water on your face to calm down a little. *Roger’s POV* ‘Wow you really outdid yourself once again’, he thought to himself. ‘What is this girl doing to you?’ He knew it was wrong to say such a thing, but he couldn’t help himself once he saw your face all concentrated, shining eyes flying over the paper, the tip of your tongue poking out to lick your lips slowly. *(Y/N)’s POV* You made your way back to Roger, as it was starting to get darker and darker outside. “I’m sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable earlier.”, he apologized. “That’s not it, Roger, I’m just really tired, it’s been a long night yesterday and I’m exhausted.” Lies. You were literally asleep once you arrived home at 11 pm. “That little boyfriend of yours got kept you awake then?”, he laughed. “Stop”, you playfully hit him. You didn’t want to admit that it was actually him, you were thinking about right before you fell asleep. The ride home was quiet, mainly because you fell asleep after 5 minutes, cuddled into the seat of Roger’s spacious Range Rover. “(Y/N), love? We’re here!”, he gave you a light shake, got out of his seat, walked over to your side, to open the door for you.
“thanks for your help today”, he smiled down at you. “I wasn’t any help at all, but you’re welcome”, you smiled back. Roger pulled you into a hug, there it was. His smell, you wouldn’t mind staying like this forever. And your heart started to beat fast. The warm, safe feeling was quickly cut off by the clicking of cameras. Fuck. Paparazzi. You exchanged quick goodbyes, escaping the situation and to prevent more pictures to be taken. Fuck. They had to ruin everything. Maybe it was for the best. Walking into the flat Josh had already been waiting for you on the couch. “What is that?” he sounded angry. “What is what?” He pointed to a picture on his phone which showed Roger and you hugging just a few minutes ago. Fuck, those paparazzi’s work fast.

#713 HAT-TRICK of HAT-TRICKs Champion Nadal outclasses Thiem to grab his 18th slam and HISTORIC 12th French open; He is beyond LEGEND in clay; Thiem gave his heartout in beating Djokovic in SF but was out of gas in finals; Barty becomes first Australian to win French open since Margaret Court in 1973; Dhawan’s fine century and smart bowling by Bhuvi-Chahal helps India beat AUstralia in style; England regain winning momentum by beating Bangladesh; NZ beat Bangladesh too and more..:-)
Australia vs WI on paper was a cracking contest and it in reality it turned out that way too. WI pacers reduced Australia to 38-4. Cottrell especially was on fire. Smith and Stonis then consolidated innings for Australia before Holder dismissed the later. Australia 79-5. Smith played very cautiously. He found able partner in Carey as they took Australia par 100. Russell dismissed Carey against the run of play. Australia 147-6. WI had chance to dismiss Australia for under 200. But Coulter De Nile had completely other ideas. He hit 60 ball 92 which had 4 sixes and 8 fours. That and 73 by Smith took Australia to a commanding 288. Both players were dropped which made WI  feel more frustrated. There was huge drama in 2nd innings. Gayle was dismissed twice in an over by umpire. Gayle reviewed both and was declared not out. It was poor umpiring. Starc later dismissed Gayle for 21. WI 31-2. The ball before he was dismissed, Starc had bowled a huge noball which went unnoticed by umpire. Had it been given, the ball which Gayle was dismissed would have been a free hit. Poor then gave WI innings some impetus with his 36 ball 50. Hope was playing with composure. Zampa dismissed Pooran against the run of play. WI 99-3. Hetmyer and Hope then took WI past 100. It looked like they would take WI past 150 too but a silly runout cost Hetmyer. WI 149-4. Hope and Holder gave WI great hope of winning but wickets fell at key intervals. Russell was batting as if 40 was needed of 15 balls !! He played reckless shot to get out for 16. WI just needed 73 from 67 at that stage. Braithwaite did the same as well. 37 was needed from 28 when he hit a poor shot. Holder was dismissed soon after. Starc 5 fer helped Australia win the match by 15 runs. WI lost the match which they should have won with ease. They cant ODI match at T20 speed.
Lanka vs Pak match was washed out as they shared a point each. Massive 121 ball 153 by Roy and fifties by Bairstow and Butler pushed England target to 386. Though Shakib scored a good century , Bangladesh lost by 106 runs. Neesham 5-fer helped NZ dismiss Afghanistan for just 172.  Williamson’s 79 helped NZ beat Afghanistan by 7 wickets with close to 18 overs to spare.
In Big match of the weekend, India faced Australia in Oval. India won the toss and chose to bat. Rohit and Dhawan started cautiously before opening up. They saw off Starc’s first spell. Post that they attacked Stoinis and Zampa. They took India to 100 by end of 19th over. Both scored fifties. Against the run of play, Coulter-Nile dismissed Rohit for 57. India 127-1. Dhawan was in his zone by now. He was creaming some beautiful boundaries. Virat took time to get going. Dhawan was making up for it. They had 93 run stand before Dhawan was dismissed for a brilliant 117. This was his 6th century in ICC tournament and 3rd in ICC world cup. He always steps up in ICC tournaments. India sent Hardik ahead. He was dropped by Carey of first ball. He made Australia pay as he made 27 ball 48 which had 3 sixes and 4 fours. They had 81 run stand. Dhoni and Virat then went wild. Dhoni hit 27 of 14 balls which included six and a four of Starc. Some late hitting Rahul took India to 352. This was highest score by any team against Australia in world cup. Highest total chased in world cup has been 327 by Ireland. Australia had luck early on as Warner played on but bails didn’t come off. Finch was looking good but runs came very slowly as India bowled right lengths. Only 28 came of first 9 overs. They needed a big over. Pandya gave one with some poor bowling. 19 runs of 10th over. Against the run of play, Finch was runout by brilliant throw by Jadhav. Australia 61-1. Warner was just 21 from 43 balls at this stage. Smith started well and it helped Warner gain some momentum. He and Smith took Australia to 100. Warner scored 50 of 77 balls. Australia were placed at 105-1 by 21st over. Jadhav’s 16 run over gave Australia momentum. Australia 121-1 in 23 overs. Australia made move on from here. Runs started coming off freely. India were struggling to take wicket. India needed some magic. Virat’s goto bowler in middle overs has been Chahal. He dismissed Warner for 56. He scored that of 84 balls. That gave India some breather. Australia 133-2. When run rate was just par 5, Australia should have sent Maxwell in but Khawaja came in.  Though these 2 had another 50 stand, it took 59 balls to reach there. Virat was playing his cards well. He completed Pandya’s spell in the meantime so that Australia will have the pressure to go at Bhuvi-Bumrah combo later. Australia required 166 of last 90 balls. They needed a big over. Khawaja hit Kuldeep for a six and a four to put some pressure on Virat. He hit 14 runs of 36th over.  Khawaja made room to hit Bumrah but played onto stumps. Australia 202-3. Maxwell came hit a boundary of first ball he faced. He showed intent which was missing in Australian innings till this points. Australia needed 146 runs of last 78 balls. They needed few big overs. Maxwell hit another boundary of 3rd  and 4th ball ball he faced. He raced to 21 runs of 9 balls. Australia needed 118 runs of 66 balls. India needed wickets badly. Bhuvi trapped Smith plumb in front with a slower delivery for 69. Australia 238-4.  Stoinis joined Maxwell.  2 balls later, Bhuvi castled Stoinis with an in cutter. Australia 238-5. Australia needed 115 runs of 60 balls.  Virat had kept 2 overs of Chahal for Maxwell. He dismissed Maxwell when the Australian star tried to slog. He was trying to hit almost every ball like Russell did. Slow innings by Warner and Smith had started having an impact. Australia needed 106 runs of last 9 overs with only 4 wickets left.  It came down to 97 of last 8 overs. Carey hit a few lusty blows of Chahal’s final over. 14 came of that over.  Pandya bowled 44th  over. He gave away 9 runs. Australia needed 75 from last 6 overs. Bumrah and Bhuvi had 3 each. Carey had raced to 31 of 14 balls. He hit a boundary of 2nd ball of Bumrah’s over. He was keeping Australia well within grasp of winning it. He had to bat till the end though. Bumrah dismissed Coulter with a slower delivery. Australia 283-7. Australia needed 70 of last 5 overs. Carey stood between India and a fine victory. Though Carey made world cup’s fastest fifty (of 25 balls), India won by 36 runs . Bhuvi and Chahal have been India’s best bowlers today. India had last beaten Australia in world cup league game was in 1987 in Delhi. India had made 289 then and won by 56 runs.
In 39th match of their career, Nadal took early 3-1 lead over Federer. Swiss champion broke back immediately with some aggressive brand of tennis. But Nadal broke back immediately Nadal won the set 6-3. Federer took early 2-0 lead in 2nd set. But Nadal levelled back again and went onto win the set 6—4. That took the gas of Nadal as he won final set 6-2 with ease. He has beaten Federer for the first time since 2014 Australian open SF. In other SF, Djokovic was undone by huge breeze and blistering playing conditions. He couldn’t time the ball well. He lost the first set 6-2. Thiem had chance to break early in 2nd set but Djokovic held his nerve. He later took 3-1 lead when rain stopped play. Post resumption, he won the 2nd set 6-3. Thiem took 4-2 lead in 3rd set before Serbian great broke back. Thiem single handed backhand helped him control the ball better in breezy conditions. Djokovic struggled with double handed backhand in this breeze conditions. Thiem broke Djokovic again to win the 3rd set 7-5. It looked like Thiem would win in 4 sets but Djokovic levelled the match by winning it 7-5. Thiem took 4-1 lead in final set but Djokovic broke back to level the match. It looked like he would take control and win the match but Thiem broke Djokovic in 12th game to win the set 7-5 and the match. This has been great to see Thiem hold his nerve on big stage. He has reached SF twice and finals twice in last 4 years. Can he go one up and beat Nadal in finals? That would definitely  be start of new era !! In finals, Thiem started off brilliantly. He even unsettled Nadal’s serves to move ahead 3-2. Nadal fought back like a champion to level the set and won next 3 games to win it. In 7th game, Thiem had his chances but Nadal held nerve in a 100 odd minute game. That took steam of Thiem. He was tired after playing long SF. He kept his nerve in 2nd set. He could find any inroads in Nadal’s serve early on but his serve game was getting better. In 12th game, Thiem showed class in breaking Nadal. Match was on. Thiem had to start 3rd set well but he won only 1 of first 13 points as Nadal took double break. He zoomed ahead to win it 6-1. He won first 2 games of 4th set too.  Thiem had chance to break back in 3rd game but Nadal showed his class once again. That was literally end of Thiem’s resistance.  Nadal had break points in 4th game to make it 4-0 but Thiem finally found some touch back to hold serve. Nadal eventually won it 6-1. This was Nadal’s 18th slam and 12th French open. He has completed hat-trick of hat-tricks in French open (won 3 times French open consecutively 3 times ). What a legend !!! In sport , facing Nadal in French open in best of 5 sets should the most difficult hurdle to cross.  If there is a record which might never be broken, Nadal’s tally of 12 wins in French open could be at the top of the list.  If there is one player who deserves to win a slam in current gen it is Thiem in French open. He has been exceptional this week and should augur well for the future.  In ladies finals, Australia’s Barty outclassed Vondrousova 6-1 6-3 to win maiden slam. She became first Australian winner in French open since Maragret Court in 1973.

How To Maintain Tennis Court Surface?
Tennis courts made using grass are gradually vanishing from the scene because of the significant cost of maintenance both in cash and time. These grass courts are being supplanted by an assortment of new surfaces that end up being all the more hard-wearing and require less work.
Tumblr media
One of these more up to date sorts of Tennis Courts Surface is produced using artificial grass containing a silicon-based infill. This sort of tennis court surface is known as sand filled counterfeit grass surface.
Sand filled artificial grass tennis courts plan to duplicate customary grass courts in look and clay courts in feel, however they are significantly more hard-wearing and require considerably less maintenance to keep them looking great. This doesn't imply that they are free from maintenance. In fact, there are some significant errands that must be performed to guarantee your synthetic Outdoor/Indoor Play Ground Flooring is at its best.
Because the surface is sand filled it will constantly get compacted by pedestrian activity and the climate. At the point when the sand becomes compacted it never again plays out the activity of empowering the grass tufts to sit upstanding. At the point when the sand compaction gets really awful the balance will turn out to be increasingly elusive.
So every year you may discover you need to bring in the experts who have practical experience in renovating sand filled Artificial Grass For Football courts. The means that you can hope to be completed include: lifting and condition the grass filaments, high-pressure wash with water, sand level change, sand prepping, green growth and greenery splashing, substitution of synthetic grass if parts have worn or torn, crease fix, supplanting sand infill.
Apart from tennis court surface, we also offer you premium quality range of artificial sport surfaces including
Cricket Pitches
,
Badminton Courts
,
Hockey Field Turf
and many more without breaking your bank accounts

Short stay: Longevity Cegonha Country Club, Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal
By Michael Edwards on Jun 27, 2019 in Accommodation, Europe, Food and Drink, Health & Safety, Hotels, Leisure Travel, Portugal, Regions, Spas & Pampering, Speciality Travel, Travel Miscellany, Western Europe
Join a Pilates class, take the shuttle to Vilamoura’s marina, opt for a personal training session and then spend time in the relaxation room before dinner. All this plus a staff as warm and welcoming as the Algarve sun.
There’s a luxurious freedom to life at Longevity Cegonha Country Club (LCCC). Many guests are taking time out from busy lives putting together a “me-time” programme of massages, meditation and sunbathing: looking to rebalance, recharge and relax.
Alternatively, Longevity Cegonha  Country Club can be a boot camp, with a rigorous regime to get back in shape. Start with the energising “Shot of the day”, something like ginger, lemon and vinegar before moving onto the breakfast smoothie.
The welcome
With just six rooms and 26 suites, by a process of elimination, the reception staff usually know who you are as soon as you arrive.
Then there’s a tour of the club. Imagine a quintessential Portuguese village – pastel pink and pale yellow houses, green wooden shutters, those Algarve fluted chimneys, vivid red bougainvillea contrasting with white walls, traditional-style gas lanterns perched on posts and a lily pond – then you’ve got the oasis of the rural calm that is LCCC.
The rooms
Tiled with cooling ceramic tiles, made from local materials, the rooms are comfortable, simple and spacious 4* accommodation. Ground floor rooms have gardens, all with patio furniture and a lawn, some with flourishing blue and white agapanthus.
Suites have two bedrooms and a lounge with a dining area. They are popular with friends travelling together or mother / daughter trips. A kitchen, with fridge, is appreciated for cooling drinks. If you want to self-cater there is a four ring hob. But why would you with the Cafe on hand?
The bathroom
Bathrooms are light and spacious with plenty of room to spread out your toiletries around the wash-basin. If you’ve had a tough day in the gym – or with your personal trainer – there’s a deep, wide bath for a restorative soak. Obviously, there’s a shower too and a generous supply of fragrant toiletries.
The facilities
There’s a crescent-shaped pool, with a jacuzzi, for gazing out over those pine forests. Tennis court too.
The Iyashi dome, a high-tech Japanese sauna, is probably the headline grabber. It’s a cross between an MRI scanner and tandoori oven which detoxes, purifies, removes up to 600 calories and trims your waist in 30 sweltering minutes. Sauna, sensations shower and relaxation room are all based around the Spa and it’s treatment rooms.
Everyday there’s a full programme of dancing, Pilates, stretching and yoga in a studio next to a small gym.
The location
An easy 20 minutes transfer from Faro airport, LCCC is inland from Vilamoura and runs a shuttle into the marina. Alternatively you can hire bikes to explore.
LCCC is at the heart of Vilamoura’s golf-landscape and guests can book tee-times, club-hire and buggy at the Dom Pedro Old Course as part of their package. Celebrating its 50th birthday, this mature course is just a 5 minute shuttle journey away.
Other nice touches
It’s well worth doing an initial and detailed Wellness Evaluation. Discovering your metabolic age can be life-changing.
The osteopathy session will also pick up problems waiting to happen: backs compensating for a weak shoulder, knees working overtime to make up for a damaged ankle. Don’t worry they will break the bad news gently.
The best bit
The Cafe is at the hub of LCCC life with a sun-soaked terrace overlooking the azure pool and woodland.
Food at the cafe is an education in nutrition. Yogurt, fruit, nuts, eggs and a little bread are a surprisingly filling breakfast.
Guests on full-board meet again for lunch, along with LCCC’s black cat. For both lunch and dinner, soups such as broccoli, pumpkin, vegetable, tomato and basil are simply superb. Then it may be fish, steak or veal with salad and vegetables. For vegans there’s the renowned and ginormous house salad served in a cavernous bowl.
Many guests are solo travellers and the cafe creates a sense of community as they chat about their day’s adventures. They can even socialise over a glass of organic red wine.
Cost
Longevity Cegonha Country Club offers the 5-night Longevity Feel Rebalance & Golf starting from 1,668EUR/£1,490 per person in a single classic room.
The final verdict
“It’s so much more relaxed than most Wellness places,” said one veteran of many a retreat. “You can dip in and out of the programme as you like. It’s sociable but without the peer pressure of some health resorts. If you want a break from the dietary programme you can choose to have chicken with the salad. If you want an evening off find a restaurant by Vilamoura marina.”
It is hard to leave Longevity Cegonha Country Club without feeling healthier for the experience and also without making some resolutions for a better future.

Tennis Court Construction – The Basics
The following blog post Tennis Court Construction – The Basics was first published to:
Tennis Court Construction – The Basics
If you have decided to construct a tennis court, you may be wondering of what you need to do next. Here are some basic things that you need to know if you have considered a new tennis court construction:
? Size and space A standard size tennis court for doubles play, measure 60 feet by 120 feet from fence to fence. For a series of two or more courts, a minimum of 48 feet in additional width is allowed for each extra court. Total cleared space varies depending upon the place landscape, perimeter drainage needs, and so on. You will need a minimum of 5 feet around the boundary and additional space stipulation is needed for special drains, elaborate landscapes and patios. More clearing is required for steeply sloped site to allow for natural sloping around the court. Courts can be smaller in dimensions, but since the standard playing lines for doubles are always 36 feet by 78 feet, it would not be advisable to under size your courts as they may compromise safety and quality of play. ? Orientation Preferably a tennis court should be situated in a true north-south direction. ? Perimeter Sloping and Drainage Different perimeter sloping and drainage is built for a court that is built on the side of a hill than on a flat open area. A variety of techniques are used to redirect water from washing on top of or under a court, it ranges from natural swales to elaborate underground systems, sometimes retaining walls are required with drainage provisions behind the wall. All of these affect the size and space requirements of tennis court construction. ? Fencing A standard fence is 10 feet high, but 8 feet or 12 feet may be suitable at times. You have a lot of options when it comes to fencing, the court can be fully enclosed with a high fence or sides can be left open with a lower 3 feet or 4 feet high fence. Corners can be the standard 90 degrees or cut off slantways. For tennis court construction, support systems can be wood which is either, round cedar or pressure treated pine, or steel posts which are galvanized or vinyl-bonded. The fabric can be vinyl-bonded chain link, netting or chicken wire. ? Permits
Local by laws and rules for tennis court construction may vary. You have to take in hand the following issues: building permits and fees, check with the local building department; conservation restrictions, check with the local conservation department; utilities, a common agency is notified to spot and mark all underground lines for gas, electricity, water and sewer before a ground breaking is done.
Aside from these basic things that you need to know, you may also want to check and choose contractors who can get the job done for you. Make sure that you are aware of their company profile, credentials and the services that they can offer you. In tennis court construction always consider the basics, contractors and cost.

15 ways to enhance your community's curb appeal this spring
Tumblr media
Prospective buyers love walking into a beautifully renovated home-but it's tough to get people in the door to see stunning interior improvements if they're turned off by what they see outside. That's why community associations should never underestimate the importance of curb appeal.
Spring is a great time to help the associations you manage to take control of their curbside appearance. Small tweaks and light investments can really move the needle in terms of increasing property values and attracting quality homeowners to the neighborhood.
Here are 15 ways to improve your community association's curb appeal this spring.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #1: Take a Step Back
Walk across the street and take a good look at the community. What will others see when they first pull up? Be hypercritical. Someone new to the property may notice flaws that you've grown accustomed to over time.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step#2: Develop an Enforceable Architectural Policy
Most associations have basic design and architectural standards in place. Can yours be tightened up without undue disruption or costs? For instance, changing parking regulations could remove unsightly vehicles. Similarly, new rules around flags or signage could make front yards look less cluttered. Amend the architectural policy as needed to improve your community association's curb appeal.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #3: Engage Homeowners in the Conversation
Association boards often make the mistake of assuming all control for community rules, regulations, and budgetary decisions without engaging other homeowners in the conversation. To improve your community association's curb appeal effectively, you should aim to get residents' buy-in. One approach is to form a committee of association members that makes landscaping recommendations. Who knows-you could have a resident who's a landscape architect with loads of untapped potential!
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #4: Plan Ahead
Some beautification projects have a long lead time. For instance, if you want to reconstruct a stone wall that wraps around the entrance of the community, this could cost several thousand dollars.
Projects that seem cost-prohibitive now are easier to manage when the association sets aside funds over a longer period of time. Maybe it's a project that the board decides to undertake three years from now, setting aside funds incrementally in the meantime.
Even smaller improvements (like seasonal flowers) cost money, so be sure that the association budgets accordingly each year. The budget should include any additional landscaping, maintenance, water, and other necessities.

How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #5: Pressure-Wash the Property
From one season to the next, properties can take a beating. This spring, pressure-wash each building. Clean off exterior walls, concrete areas, trim, and signage. Encourage homeowners to do the same with their own properties. You can either rent a pressure washer or, depending on the size of the community and the frequency with which you might need to pressure-wash, consider investing in a pressure washer to keep on-site (which you could make available to residents for a modest fee).
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #6: Resurface Parking Lots
Re-tarring and repainting can go a long way in making a community look new again. If you can't resurface parking lots and streets, at least re-stripe them when the lines begin to fade.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #7: Upgrade & Repair Irrigation Systems
This is one of the bigger-ticket items that a community association may want to consider investing in this spring. Irrigation lines start to corrode over time, something that happens more frequently in areas where pipes freeze and thaw with the seasons.
Cracks, breaks, and clogged lines can lead to costly repairs for an association if not addressed in advance. In addition, plants won't be properly watered with leaky irrigation systems, so any major investments the association makes in landscaping could be at risk if water can't properly reach it.
This spring, have a landscaping company evaluate the community's irrigation system. How well is it performing? Is it time to make repairs or upgrades? If so, the board should consider putting money towards that now before it becomes a bigger problem down the line.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #8: Reconsider Grassy Areas
Yes, we all love lawns. After all, what looks better than well-groomed grass during the spring and summer? But consider whether the association really has the time and resources to maintain it. This is particularly true in hot weather climates, where droughts are common and water prices can escalate quickly.
If this sounds like any associations you manage, maybe it's time for a change. Alternative uses for large grassy areas include additional parking, tennis or basketball courts, storage units, an outdoor pavilion, or an indoor recreation room.
In addition, where there are noticeable footpaths in the grass, consider installing walkways.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #9: Weed & Mulch
One of the easiest ways to improve your community association's curb appeal this spring is to enlist a team of people to get to work with a few basic landscaping tools. Weed the property; pull out any overgrown greenery; and while you're at it, weed-whack unruly areas. Edge all hedges and spread fresh mulch around plants and in garden beds. It will make the property look beautiful upon arrival.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #10: Invest in Lighting
How does the community look at night? Warm, effective lighting is essential. You never know when a realtor is going to bring a prospective homebuyer to look at a property that's for sale!
Not only does good lighting make a community feel more inviting-it also helps to deter crime and keep the property safer for residents. Second, light sells. Consider using rope lighting to add definition or draw the eye to attractive features.
Is there an outdoor common area? Consider hanging string lights or Edison bulbs-the latest trend in lighting. If you have a flagpole, light up the flag. You might also want to add soft lighting along main entryways and walkways to prevent people from stumbling as they walk around the property.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #11: Repair Community Fencing
Is the fence around the community missing a few panels or swaying in the wind? One way to improve your community association's curb appeal is by repairing fencing. Once it's repaired, consider staining or white-washing wooden fencing-both of which can help the fence look better and last longer.
Many communities are turning to more durable vinyl fencing in common areas, which needs little to no maintenance. Vinyl fencing may be less charming, but it reduces issues like pest infestation and rotting that can compromise wood fencing over time.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #12: Trash the Trash
If someone comes to tour the community and finds litter all over the place, what sort of impression will that leave about how the association is managed? (Not a good one!) Be sure to eliminate all trash around the property. Pay special attention to trash on days before and after trash collection days, as trash can easily fall out of an overloaded dumpster before or during garbage collection.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #13: Hone in on a Coherent Color Scheme
A common pitfall for community associations is that one committee decides to implement a color scheme, another committee makes tweaks, and another doesn't realize that a color scheme was ever created. Instead, encourage the association board to pick a color scheme and stick to it. This will really improve your community association's curb appeal.
We typically recommend neutral colors with selective pops of color. For instance, you might paint a prominent door red or plant colorful flowers against an otherwise neutral background. Take advantage of color theory and trend research when deciding which color scheme is right for your community association.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #14: Check Address & Building Numbering
Pretend you've never been to the community before-or better yet, enlist the help of a colleague who's never been to the property. How easy is it to navigate the community? Are the building numbers clear and visible both during the day and at night? If not, improve numbering to improve your community association's curb appeal and navigability this spring.
-
How to Improve Your Community Association's Curb Appeal
Step #15: Boost CC&R Enforcement
Despite the association's best efforts, the community's curb appeal will continue to suffer if the board is too lax about enforcing the community's covenants, conditions, and restrictions (CC&Rs). The association should enforce all CC&Rs consistently. Otherwise, resident behavior could have the unintended consequence of dragging down property values for other owners and the association as a whole.
