Cutest board book EVER! Seriously, one of my nieces was so obsessed with the adorable "Hamsters Holding Hands" (2012) by Kass Reich that you could barely pry it out of her toddler hands. So I can't even be accused of favouritism towards this spectacular former illustration client of mine, because clearly she's a favourite of more than just mine! 📚📙📗 And really, it only takes a glance at these sweet hamsters to understand why. One of my greatest frustrations over the years has been trying to find really wonderful board books for toddlers, that are simple and eye-catching enough to be appealing to the youngest "readers", but are more interesting than just, "The pink piggy says 'Oink!'", since parents will have to read them a zillion times. So to start things off with my current book recommendations, I thought I'd share a newly-discovered gem. 📚📙📗 Susie Ghahremani's "Stack the Cats" (2017) is an adorably silly counting book that explores multiple simple math concepts (adding, subtracting, dividing), through the antics of an ever-expanding group of cats. The ideas are conveyed clearly enough for the littlest children to follow, and Ghahremani's starkly colourful, simple artwork is bright and perfect for toddlers.
