The S Word is an erotic strangers-lovers romance novel featuring cam workers. Nicole is seductive, cocky, and a flirt there’s no denying that. She is a woman with drive and that leads her to meeting Alexander. They form a collaboration together on the website they both stream and sparks fly. Alexander and Nicole bend rules on their streams that push Alexander’s no  sex rule to its limits. But they are open to pushing those limits because of the other. The two have a chemistry from the moment they first interact that neither of them understands. It’s new and strange to them neither truly knowing what to do or how to proceed yet unable to stop themselves. 

However, not everyone is how they seem online or in person. Whether it’s an ex, a stranger or otherwise. Like Alexander says “Honesty is something hard to find these days. Especially online.” He isn’t wrong, not at all. Sometimes, online we find beauty true friendships and love but there’s always that danger lurking. People don’t realize how dangerous an online public presence can be and Nyssa explores that danger beautifully well, the ups and downs. The good we find and also the bad. And the bad does come. With public a persona people can’t always separate real from fake public from private, persona from person. Not everyone who follows wishes for your happiness. Some wish for misery. Some can’t let go of what they think is theirs.

Through twists and turns hidden truths and lies we follow Alexander and Nicole further through their story. Both characters are human both make mistakes. Threats follow as does more. Rules exist for a reason and the aftermath of breaking them isn’t always pretty even if it’s not the fault of the one who broke them. Sometimes consequences be damned, breaking the rules is worth it despite the end result. But, is it in this case? Alexander fulfills Nicole’s wildest dreams and biggest fantasies they are good together but, after everything, will they make it? Will they end up together?

I try not to write reviews with too many spoilers. I start with a summary and then I say how I feel. I absolutely loved this book! The S Word was a trip. A great trip. I love Alexander and Nicole as individuals and together. I love how human they are and how much I could understand the emotions they were feeling. The story did have me wanting more while I read it and Nyssa delivered. This story isn’t just about sex it’s about the characters and their lives, about their interpersonal relationships and I truly enjoy that in books I read. Nyssa’s writing like I have said before pulls you in and gets you to think. You feel her characters emotions and you can’t help but, become invested in their stories. You want to know more. You need to see how the story ends. Nyssa may write fiction, romance, erotica you name it but, her stories always keep her characters human. Characters we can relate to in so many ways. Even though they are experiencing lives entirely different than our own. Her stories bring to light real things that happen and can happen while telling us a fictional story of characters. I love that about Nyssa’s writing and I am so glad she writes like this. I look forward to her future novels because I guarantee that we haven’t seen anything yet! More great books will come from Nyssa.

USEFUL BOOKS FOR TODAY

As useful as Libby can be, it's probably a good idea to mention that six month wait times are pretty standard for any remotely popular eBooks in the UK at least, even for big well-stocked library systems here (aka the whole of London network I have access to).

I've had much better luck with reserving paper books ironically, I think because people don't even think to check that separate reservation system, or prefer ebooks? More often than not I get to pick up a brand new hardback as soon as it's released, and they dropped all the reservation fees back when Covid started, and renew everything automatically for you unless there's another reservation in place (which almost never happens).

The app for reserving paper books (MyLibraryApp is my local one) will also show if there are any available ebook copies and link you straight to Libby to read it instantly if so, but... that happens less than 10% of the time I go looking for a particular book?

disclaimer: this is so easy. it is also really fun.

one: download the libby app. you'll open it and it'll ask you to add a library.

two: get a library card. don't have one? good news, it's really easy and i am saying this as the laziest person on earth. it varies what you need to have to get a card library to library but almost all libraries will let you get one online. i have a card for my home town and for the town i moved to. sometimes you only need an email address, sometimes you need an area code. to get mine it took me about 5 minutes of lying on the couch aimlessly tapping on my phone. follow your heart. you can get cards for places you don't currently live. i will leave the ethics of that up to you but it's probably better than pirating and either way you're creating traffic for libraries which is what they need to exist.

three: add your card. you can add multiple cards for multiple libraries. you need the number. i have never had libby fail to recognize a valid account.

four: search for your book! some will be ready to borrow right away. others have an estimated delivery time. libby will always pick the one that's the fastest from the options available at all the libraries you have cards at. you can borrow audiobooks and ebooks. libby will send you a notification when you're book is ready to borrow. in my experience it's a lot faster than the estimate. if you aren't ready to read it, you can ask to be skipped over in line so you keep your place at the front but let someone else read it first.

five: read it!!! kindle is the most common way to do this. you can go to your loan and click read with kindle. it'll download it to all your devices where you have kindle. as long as you have the loan, it'll act like your book. when the loan ends, if the device is connected to the internet, it'll automatically be returned. it will save all your notes and highlights. (if you disconnect your device from the internet, it won't return the book. weewoo.)

anyway in case anyone else has been wondering about it, i really love it. is a nice surprise to see what i'm going to get and it's cut my reading costs down big time! it's also neat because i get to synch my books between devices unlike downloading books through cough cough other means. good luck!

📚 How’s your reading year going so far for 2023?? Happy Sunday, Bookworms … We’ve somehow officially made it halfway through 2023. Are you having a good reading year so far? What are some of your favorite reads? And how are you doing with your book challenges and goals? I feel like I’m having a really good year so far. I’ve not dealt with as many reading slumps as I have in the past few years, so that’s been really nice. I’ve read 67 books this year, so I’m on track to reach my Goodreads reading goal for the year. I’m debating on raising it, but I’ll probably just leave it at 100. 😂 It’s hard to pick a favorite for the year … I’ve loved rereading all of my favorite books, and there have been a few others that I have enjoyed more than I expected to.
