Did you know it is Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week? It runs from May 3rd – 7th 2021 This year more than ever moms are feeling overwhelmed, confused and lonely due to the unprecedented events of COVID-19 and how long this pandemic is lasting. Untreated, perinatal mental illness is one of the leading causes of death for women during pregnancy and the first year after birth. During this difficult time, daily life looks very different for most. Many moms are feeling more overwhelmed, confused, and lonely than ever before — especially those that are pregnant or have newborns. Maternal depression or anxiety looks different for everyone, and isn’t always clearly identifiable. So if you feel like you're going crazy, you're doing it right... 🥱🤬😤🤯 . Remember to take care of your mental health, mamas! Get involved in this week-long campaign dedicated to talking about mental illness while pregnant or after having a baby, as well as raising awareness of how people can seek support. Help us spread the word! Together, we can lift stigma and raise awareness in a bigger way to let even more mothers know they do not have to suffer in silence. Take the Making Over Motherhood Challenge: Be a part of the process of unpacking the complications of life and motherhood together as we push to #MakeOverMotherhood Comment below a motherhood struggle you are facing or be more aware and help someone you know who is struggling. Know you are never alone. #socialdistancing #socialanxiety #depressionandanxiety #stayathomemomlife #stayathomemoms #MomsBeLike #StayAtHome #SelfIsolation #Coronavirus #Covid19Coronavirus #Covid19 #GlobalPandemic #ViralPandemic #StayHomeStaySafe #Depressionawareness #postpartumdepression #socialmediamom #momliferocks #motherhoodthroughinstagram #survivingmotherhood #mombosslife #parenting (at Spa Bellezza) https://www.instagram.com/p/COkmcNdngee/?igshid=1g5jvo25pp5er

Words from my sister who’s a medical nurse practitioner on the front lines at North Shore University Hospital in Long Island. “Calm down. I am with COVID pts everyday working in an ICU with COVID pts intubated and I work at Plainview in and out of COVID rooms on non intubated pts. Just wash your hands vigorously. I have been exposed countless times to COVID-19 coronavirus taking mandatory testing so as not to expose my patients and am self isolating from my family at home. The worst thing to do is panic. Please Emily stay strong for your son and family.” My sister Kathleen’s advice to me. She also insinuated I stay in the house 🏠 #covid19coronavirus #northshoreuniversityhospital Edward D Iannielli III Emily (at Plainview, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-uuexNDetl/?igshid=1l9cbcqgncgyu
