A shout out to Jennifer Smith's accomplishments at West Fest... it has been a long journey for Alamo. He had serious issues with anxiety .. and has a history of exploding at shows.. so a big show like West Fest was a great test of his improvement. . Dream Hunter and I didn't have our best show... and I made the incredibly difficult decision to scratch from 2 of the 3 classes we entered. Making the call to scratch after spending 7 hours driving to a venue is gut wrenching. . . But I have been with this horse for 6 years now. . . And I couldn't bring myself to push him. We had vehicle trouble on departure, so he didn't have the time we intended to unwind from travel. We also added extra time travelling due to the vehicle trouble... this showed itself in him losing a lot of his flexibility. . And the first class saw him getting really anxious when I asked for a left bend... he did his best and got an ok score.. so that was enough I must commend the organisers (both Cowboy Dressage and RWPHSA). . .
