Falkland wool has an exceptionally bright white base, comfortably medium length fibers, and is soft to the touch 🐑 I tend to reach for Falkland as a spinner when I want an extra-squishy yarn, as it has a tendency to make extra-bulky singles, puffing up enthusiastically in the finishing process!
All our colorways are available on Falkland top in our online shop ✨

I am crocheting for the first time and I am doing so well! I am learning so much from youtube and I'm doing my best to buy from small businesses cause I want to support them instead of big stores like Jo Ann's. It means my progress is slow cause I have to wait a week for my yarn to arrive but it's soooo soft and ethically sourced!
May I suggest buying yarns from my friends at @cozyhearthyarnworks ? Trans-owned family operation in Indiana, lovely colors, very soft. They have patterns too!

Welcome!
Since I’ve got some new followers and also some new info about me, it seemed time for one of these posts :)
I’m Kit, a midthirties trans man in the midwest USA. I blog here mostly about things that make me smile, and some about disability, trans experience, and trauma. I’m a fiber artist, I sell some of my work at cozyhearthyarnworks dot com and run a sideblog for the business at @cozyhearthyarnworks. I also run an aesthetic blog at @suchprettyverywantwow

It's back!!!! Our Pumpkin Cream colorway is now restocked on all fiber bases in our shop, just in time for fall 🧡🍂 We've got plenty of bare fiber in our stash to keep this pumpkin goodness stocked up through the cold season this time 😉

What a transformation! 💞 Our Cosmic Cliffs colorway, shown here on Polwarth, spun up to a moody & dazzling yarn even when I let the colors mix randomly in the singles and the plying. Grab your own braid on our website today 🌌

Fiyero makes the best fiber model 🐈📸 Here he is helping me photograph one of our experimental braids - these colors partly inspired our Beachrise colorway, and another colorway that will be coming to the shop sometime very soon... 😉

In 2019, I got my first spinning wheel due to serendipity, the kindness of friends who knew what to keep an eye out for, and some determined amateur restoration work. I already knew by that time that I loved spinning, and I had just begun to dream that someday this could be part of my professional artwork. I'm so excited to start selling my first handspun yarns, and I can't thank you all enough for coming on this journey with me.

All spun up! A side-by-side comparison of our Beachrise colorway dyed onto Falkland wool top, and the same braid fully spun into a gorgeous chain-plyed yarn. I love watching the colors shift and transform under my fingers as I spin 🐑🎨

Blue-Faced Leicester (or BFL) wool comes from the English Longwool tradition, developed from other Leicester breeds in the early twentieth century. This sheep grows fine, silky, curly, and quite long locks! These spin into lustrous and durable yarn that remains soft enough to be worn next to skin, great for hard-wearing sweaters, socks, and woven fabrics.
In our shop, BFL is currently available in our Radiant Sock base (80% superwash BFL/20% nylon). This close-up image of a fleece is from Wikimedia Commons.
