Edred's Past and the Magic Realm

I know I'm probably only a week away from having all this debunked, but as I was watching past trailers and thinking about today's episode an idea came to me. A vision, if you will, about Edred's origins.

In What Lies Beneath Edred revealed he is (or was) the prince of the Northern Elves to Winston and us, the audience. A really cool piece of information that begs the question: just what is a prince doing fighting against an ancient Evil alongside two people who clearly aren't elves themselves?

I know this exact premise is one that's been done to death in other franchises, but the members of Unicorn seem to share the belief that they should always put the needs of many before individual ones. Of course, a prince like Edred should have that mindset internalised, right?

Meaning he should in no way have abandoned his people to chase after adventures and battles.

So what happened?

As I already mentioned, Edred revealed being the prince of the Northern Elves. As in, the elves from the North. This implies there are other elven clans scattered around the Magic Realm. Namely, I think these are some of those other elves:

You might be thinking, "But Geeks, how can you be so sure those aren't part of Edred's kingdom?"

Simple, because of the trailers:

Almost all elves present in this scene are just like Edred: white-haired, with greyish-blue skin, and wearing different shades of red. The elf from above is dark-haired, with bright blue skin and blue clothing.

But he isn't the only elf like that.

This female elf right here has the same bright skin and dark hair, and judging by her robes and the many people attending, they appear to be in the middle of a ceremony. Or as @kupadraws theorised before, a wedding.

I believe Edred was originally meant to enter a marriage of convenience between his kingdom and a rival clan. Going by the scene, I believe the ceremony was interrupted when Edred was either chosen by his sword, or alerted of danger. That probably forced him to postpone the wedding, but eventually led him to meeting Seng and Melinda, falling in love with the latter, and letting his kingdom and people behind as he found his calling in fighting by their side.

Which could be another reason why Unicorn is being attacked by those other elves. Either they recognise Edred as one of the Northern Elves who betrayed their people centuries ago, or the Evil has revealed to them he is the prince that turned his back on their princess for a human sorceress, using their lust for revenge to get rid of the warriors.

I would also like to talk about the Magic Realm, because I also think this is all somehow connected.

Despite ample evidence of the paranormal existing and Unicorn's many reincarnations throughout time—including their previous one that probably took place earlier in the century in the US—, nobody seems to believe in magic.

The inspector is convinced our heroes are charlatans while Winston point-blank tells Edred, who is standing right in front of him in all of his pointy-eared, blue-skinned glory, that elves don't exist.

And while people are more inclined to believe in the existence of witches, no other character aside from Emmelyn and the Evil seems to be a genuine magic user.

This all suggests that aside from the presence of Unicorn throughout time, humans in this world have long lost all contact with the Magic Realm.

Perhaps this goes as back as the original members of Unicorn? Maybe Edred chose to live in exile but alongside his beloved and their friends? And what if the Evil's machinations are forcefully creating an opening between Earth and the Magic Realm?

Only time will tell, I'm afraid.
