The start of my writing journey

If you are reading this, then welcome to my first ever post of my first ever blog, dedicated to the journey i am embarking on to write my first ever novel. For sometime now i have found myself continuously coming back to idea of writing a book. The light bulb moment to create my story came to me whilst walking home one evening and it’s entire concept has grown larger each day since. I had no idea how and where to start. With so many ideas scattered around my head, in no particular order i started by buying an A1 pad of flip chart paper so that i could get things moving with a series of old fashioned brain storms. I then bought a book titled Creative Writing for Dummies, which within it’s 16 pages made me realise this was not going to be a walk in the park, far from it!! I had the plot, the twists and a host of humorous episodes to add to this creation. I had a strong idea of the main character but soon realised that i had no idea of from what perspective i was going to tell the story, as a narrator, as the main character or another angle. I don’t currently know where if at all, my writing strengths are. My Dummies book suggested reading a host of other books by differing authors in order to sample various styles instead of getting straight to my own writing and spending an exhausting amount of time reinventing the wheel! The idea of creating a blog came to me today as it occurred to me that i now have something to write about and ironically it is about wanting to write! I am not a University graduate, but at the same time i am not an entirely uneducated moron. I have lived a life so far with plenty of ups and downs but it is my belief i have had some very unique and funny life events which i could blend into my fictional novel. I know i have a tough task ahead and i may fail, but i genuinely believe if i get this right, someone out there my one day enjoy reading my self published story. Join me on this road and i hope to lend my experiences along the way and even make you laugh!
