An Eggcellent start to the summer
I have always wondered why we eat fried eggs plain. I don’t mean without salt or pepper but just the eggs themselves. Omelets and scrambled eggs, the former moreover, often have vegetables and meats added to them. Poached eggs, I would argue, also has to be eaten usually with supplementary ingredients yet although it sounds similar to fried egg, it isn’t eaten plain.
Fried egg seems like a versatile ingredient that can complement most dishes like fried egg over rice, fried egg and toast, fried eggs in a burger, fried eggs and potatoes, etc
So I decided to get creative with fried eggs. Is it possible to add ingredients to the fried egg as we cook it and still allow it to remain as what we know and love as “fried eggs” yet allow us to enjoy a fuller dish?
Sunny side over veggies
·         Quarter red onion (chopped finely)
·         Green bell pepper
·         Half a tomato
·         Jalapeno pepper
·         4 eggs
·         Chili flakes
·         Sweet soy sauce
·         Vegetable oil
Add vegetable oil to a pan and wait until steaming. Add tomato, onion, bell pepper and jalapeno to the pan and add chili flakes and 2 table spoons of Soya sauce. Cook until vegetables are soft and then spread vegetables evenly around pan. Crack eggs over the vegetables. Reduce flame to low-medium and cover the pan.
One of the problems I encountered was the eggs were not cooking evenly and so started to scramble and crumble. SO it doesn’t look great (probably a 4/10 for presentation) but I think it tasted good and was very filling. Next I think I will try to crack the eggs in first and then quickly add the vegetables on top of them, I think it would work better. Oh well, here’s to learning and growing in making good food!

For my material world project I decided to draw on the ideas of receipts and what we have left at the bottom of shopping bags after spending money on things. I was inspired by the work of Gabriel Kuri who blew up receipts to a huge size and made them into a sculpture to display. I made a receipt of my own listing things I had touched that day. I wanted to continue with this concept so for my piece I created a sculpture out of an old shopping bag, receipts and coins from the bottom of my handbag along with clothing tags and leaflets.
I think I liked this piece because it represents the concept of “you are what you buy” and the fact that receipts tell you a lot about a person as they are a footprint of everything you have ever bought. I also like the fact that they are my own receipts and show everything that I have bought over the last few weeks and I think this makes it quite personal.

Time and space session.
In the beginning of the session we had to do 4 tasks about time and space.  First one was to draw a line for 10 seconds without taking a pencil off the paper.
Tumblr media
Then we had 60 seconds to draw a circle with a different colour.
Tumblr media
After that, we had to write continuous words or thoughts that come to our mind about time (along the lines)
Tumblr media
The last task which was related to the previous exercises was to fill the space of the circle with thought or words relevant to space.
Tumblr media
I think my time and space map was surprising task. First of all, I realised that 60 seconds mean a lot, even it sounds like nothing for us. I had a problem to draw a circle for 60 seconds, as i finished it in nearly few seconds!  Secondly, I understood that space which I have created on my drawing was too big for me, as I couldn’t find enough words to fill the space with.
What is the relevance of:
a) the line:
it has the beginning and the end
the line means time, our life
b) the circle:
it has the beginning and the end
the circle means space, our life
Have our perceptions of time and space changed over the generations?  In my opinion our perceptions of time and space had changed over the generations, because:
when we were kids, time was going slower and nowadays it is going really fast
when we were kids and we were smaller, the earth looked much bigger for us than now
less people are dying, so there is more people in the earth
TASK: Document 6 videoclips in a visual way.

Change a space through light, reflections and filters.
I took flash photos of the inside of a tin and a bottle. I especially like the tin photo (right) and how I changed how the space looked with light and reflections.

Results of our research for ‘Making a Mark’
I liked using a comb with paint the best.
We used various tools to make marks with poster paint on paper, relating our pieces to words that we were given (eg: electric, bold etc), and then took rubbings from around the university with charcoal and chalk.

A couple of tasks from Material World week, the first we were given the task of drawing a pencil with various descriptions. I couldn’t complete the smell task because I didn’t have a sense of smell that day.
The second image is a miniature scene I created using my right earphone, as I thought it looked like a tiny hairdryer.

Making a mark collaboration - 12.10.2017
What would be your role? 1. If you were working on a magazine?
I would like to work as an editor. I think it is good role for me as I am creative person who loves to do different things everyday. So as an editor I would not feel bored.
2. Working on a film? I think I would like to work as an video editor. In my opinion it is hard job but it might give me good experience.
3. Working on constructing a building?
I guess my role would be construction planning manager, because in my opinion girl should not work in those places, as it is not safe at all. 4. Working in the theatre? I would like to work as an make-up artist. I think this role is the perfect one for me as I can use my imagination to create something wonderful and unique.
5. Working for an advertising agency?
I would like to work as graphic designer as it is my dream work. I would love to create brochures,  logos and other stuff for people. 6. Working at the University?
I guess I would like to work as a teacher of graphic design. It is great place to work and also I would love to share my ideas with other students.

Making a mark collaboration - 5.10.2017 On Thursday’s session we spoke about marks.
What is the mark?
a line, figure, or symbol made as an indication or record of something.
Then, by using papers and poster paints, we created alphabet marks. I made a lot of stuff, so I had to choose the best examples.
Tumblr media
This black and gloomy marks on a pink piece of paper present  S- Slippery.
Tumblr media
This example is my success. Those pink and blue marks present A - Angry.
Tumblr media
This marks present F- Fog.
Tumblr media
Blue and black marks present Z- Zig zak.
Tumblr media
Those dots and other marks present W- Weepy.
Tumblr media
I- Indecisive was presented by dividing a piece of paper into two parts and creating a marks which were totally different.
Tumblr media
D- Deep was presented by making a circle in the middle of the paper and adding marks which could show that terrible depth.
Tumblr media
H- Happiness was presented by painting the sign of infinity. For me, infinity is the definition of happiness. Second task was to spend 20 minutes making rubbings around campus to create own textured Campus Map.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately it was my failure. I tried to rub a bricks inside our building, but I couldn’t create any amazing mark.

Self portrait brief (28.09.2017) On Thursday’s session we were talking about self-portraits. In the beginning, we had to define few words: 1. Parody - an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect; imitation- comic 2. Pastiche - an artist work in a style that imitates that of another work; artist or period copy- naive 3. Appropriation - taking someone else’s work; taking someone else’s culture First task to do was drawing our side profile.
Tumblr media
After that, we had to write in our profile: 1. special events from my life 2. important fact 3. characteristics 4. things that make me, “me”
Tumblr media
Second task was more creative than the previous one. We had to create our self portrait out of objects found around the room.
Tumblr media
I have created my self- portrait from a bottle, tissue, little piece of paper and hair tie. In my opinion that task was weird, but same way it was unique. Everyone in the classroom created something different, even we used similar objects. In the third task we had to answer the questions: How the following examples could be self- portaits?
Tumblr media
1. Tracey Emin, Bed, 1998
it shows her personality
messy mind
depressed
2. Helen Chadwick, Self Portrait, 1991
organised person
she has huge knowledge
she might be professor
3. David Lachapelle, Self- Portrait as a House, 2013
an artist soul
he might be designer
sexual experimentation
4. Cornelia Parker Self-Portrait as parallel lines, 2015
she might be pregnant
5. Carery Young Inventory
it shows how much body is worth
How can I produce mine self-portrait without my face being included? ◈ my height ◈ left hand as a prove that I am left handed ◈ my crooked nose ◈ my engagement/wedding ring ◈ my plane ticket ◈ photos which I have taken ◈ my signature ◈ photos of my family ◈ my fingerprint ◈ polish flag ◈ glasses ◈ crooked back ◈ autumn leaves ◈ photo from the plane What makes me unique? ◈ my past ◈ my partner ◈ my left foot is bigger than right one ◈ I am creative ◈ I am left- handed ◈ I moved to United Kingdom without planning anything ◈ I am very sensitive ◈ I have crooked nose ◈ I am not racist The inpact of mine environment and culture on who I am: ◈ I am stronger person than I have been before ◈ I trust myself more than in my past ◈ I love my body as it is ◈ My partner and mum supported me when I had final exams and because of that I can study at University ◈ I feel useful for other people ◈ I am independent ◈ I have rights to decide about myself All the diffirent approaches to the self covered in the sessions: ◈ I cannot draw with closed eyes ◈ I found out that I am creative person ◈ I prefer to describe other people than myself ◈ I can spend many hours to do my homework very well ◈ I have not idea how to build 3D objects ◈ I found difficulty in creating my self portrait

Our first day at University concerned exploring ourselves. To understand our session better, we had to do few tasks. First one was about drawing ourselves. I think it was a challenge for all of us, because we had to close our eyes while doing it. I have never done something like that before, but I really enjoyed it. My drawing was absolutely horrible! Unfortunately the face which I have drawn did not look as mine at all!
Tumblr media
In second exercise we had to draw our classmate by one line. In my opinion I created something really funny. However, this drawing looked much better than previous one!
Tumblr media
Next thing we had to do, was to ask our classmate 6 easy questions. The answers which we heard, we had to draw on a piece of paper. I have asked my friend those questions: 1. What is your favourite colour? 2. Where are you staying during studies? 3. What is your best food? 4. What is your hobby? 5. Which animals are the best for you? 6. Which course will you start the next year?
Tumblr media
At the end of the session we had to create 3D object, which would be one of the answers from the previous task. I decided to create a building, where my classmate stays during studies. That is a student accommodation.
Tumblr media
In my opinion, our first session was really enjoyable. By doing those exercises, I had a chance to know other people better, as it was our first day at University.
