Dnb au where Techno is a nether gardener/merchant and Dream is a farmer that lives on the edge of his town and is kinda considered the village hermit

Techno looks scary to the townspeople because big ol' piglin in dark robes but he's actually really nice and friendly and just wants to talk and sell his funky nether flora. Everyone kinda thinks he's a witch (neutral), he's not. He plays into it sometimes for the bit, but he thinks he makes it clear that he's just some weirdo who likes plants from his home and wants to spread them with the overworld.

And Dream is incredibly resting bitch face and closed off to the point where everyone in the town just assumes he's mean. But he's so cottagecore that no one assumes he's like. Anything but a weird mean farmer. Secretly he has a little basement filled with crystals, herbs, mushrooms, and all the makings of a novice witch.

Not many in the town want Techno's wares when he passes through, but they point them in the direction of Dream's farm, nessaled into the crook of the woods at the edge of town.

Dream is infact very interested in Techno's wares. Techno doesn't get why he was warned that Dream is mean and rude when his eyes are sparkling so much at every mushroom and plant, and when Dream has to stifle a laugh and a smile every time he tells a joke.

He gets the weird feeling they've met before too....

The Feathertail rant pt.1 her canon irrelevance and lost potential

This is gonna be long so I'm add a page break

Disclaimer: I have not read The New Prophecy in like 2 years so if some of my details are off, feel free to correct me, just be nice :). Also I am purely talking about The New prophecy, not any non-main series books.

Ok where do I start? She's boring. That's where I will start.

She is given no character in NP and is just a nice slab of cardboard despite being one of our main characters and having a tragic interesting past.

Feathertail is not some background nobody with no past or connections. She is a pretty important character/plot device even in the first arc.

Her dad is Graystripe, she is a half clan kit, her father joined her clan then left when she was a kit, she was imprisoned with her brother Stormfur, Stonefur, and Mistyfoot when Tigerstar took over Riverclan, she watched her brother's mentor who she was almost certainly also close with die to protect her.

And with all that the Eirns decided to make her some untramatized basic cat with a fine relationship with her father?

Yeah sure.

I guess all that childhood trama did nothing to her mindset.

Plus the audacity to give her only two chapters of it being her perspective when her brother is unavailable, and barely any personality, and then expect us to care when she dies? Really?

I did not care when she died. Did I buy the dramatic sacrifice? Yeah sure. But I didn't care very much.

It was just a "oh that's unfortunate" reaction from me.

I also did not care for her romance with Crowpaw. Especially because we were seeing it from Stormfur's perspective who was just thinking "you better not date my sister! That would be against the code!" While at the same time looking at Squirrelpaw and going "She's pretty, Brambleclaw sure is lucky to have her, too bad I'm not thunderclan". Yeahh.. not my favorite.

Most of this also applies to Stormfur as well. Though I have my own gripes with some of the stuff he specifically does/doesn't do. So I'll probably give him his own post.

I just think it is so strange that the Erins had these characters with what feels like built in conflict an intrigue and they didn't use them.

Like they have so much potential! And yet they are so under used!

That's about all the thoughts I have about canon Feathertail, I have more thoughts about my version of Feathertail (CV!Feathertail my beloved <3), and I have a few more thoughts about Stormfur but I'll save those for a separate post.

it's fuckin rambling time again bc AHHHHH and also Cryptid would hate most of the things being put on Cala with every fiber of their being.

It makes them feel lesser. In their mind; They made the action, they should get the consequences! If Wilbur would have hurt them if it wasn't for Cala, than he should fucking hurt them! The consequences shouldn't fucking change just because they happen to be connected to someone! That's fucking stupid! And they can deal with it! They can deal with the consequences! They don't need to be protected, they aren't a child, they aren't an adult either but.. but they aren't a fucking child!

They don't fucking care that this is better for them, it's the principal. They'd only really begrudgingly accept it because it's better for the party. But even then, they aren't happy.

It doesn't help that I feel like Wilbur is probably extremely condescending to them, and I feel like in his discussion with Cala mentions 'controling them better'. Cryptid definitely eavesdropped on the ordeal if they weren't present in the first place. And that, that one comment about keeping them in line would set them off so so much. They feel like they're just viewed as the party's stray by everyone but the party. It sort of ingrains in how they think about it too. They aren't part of the party they're just some beast they picked up on the way. A source of problems only kept around because it's owners are attached to it.

They don't always feel like this, they try to convince themselves they are worthy, that they are lovable, that they are a person. It just gets hard sometimes, when night claws at their thoughts and they have nothing to occupy themself with but to count their mistakes and tick off how many days they've managed to survive in this world. They keep expecting, waiting for that number to reset to 0 again too.

God they are so angsty about everything I love them. dnd!hc!Cryptid's biggest hater is themself and most of their problems at this point are either self inflicted or lingering trauma.

ack I should have added this to my last ask but I can just SEE the disappointed look that Dream is giving them. Wilbur makes a comment about how he didn't think Dream would be the one most disappointed bc haha war stuff. Dream is literally only disappointed because Cryptid got caught so easily.

On an more hurt-comfort side note, Cryptid totally thought the party would throw them out for this. Even though they know at least quite a bit of the chaos they themselves have caused and how... Unfavorablely most of them view the monarchs. But they still think that THIS will be the line. I mean they were very easily tracked to a crime that like. could have easily gotten them executed. Which means two things, they are even more of a liability politically, and they already were one anyway. And two, they'll probably fuck up other stealth missions or even just anything that involves lying!

They're already planning out the routes of where they should go once they're kicked out of the party and probably the kingdom, for you know, arson at the castle. And then it's just... none of that. The possibility isn't even brought up by the party or implied or anything.

They aren't punished for acting out against someone they don't like. Sure everyone would really prefer they didn't get caught and Cala would have preferred they didn't try it in the first place but it's becoming this weird pattern of acceptance and they aren't totally sure how to feel about all that.

Anyway sorry I am just feral about them all don't mind me. I'll shut up now. Tho I'll probably make another ask just rambling about Cryptid's feelings on Quackity and especially his scar if you don't mind/are at all interested because I have feelings and am going slightly insane.

Honestly I should probably just start properly making posts about this au I don't know why I have been doing this all completely through asks.

I will say Cala just accepts it bc she’s dealt with Spooky and then Dream- she’s just “listen we’ll figure it out” and is honestly the reason why they’re not in complete trouble. Because Cala has a pretty high persuasion

And King Wilbur is ‘fond’ of Cala so when she takes the brunt of it it’s just a slap on a wrist and some gold— which Fundy thinks it’s too lenient since Wilbur always wants something more but he bites his tongue

The only time Cala would put her foot down is if it actually hurt people that didn’t deserve it or if it’s too far even for her (Dream and Spooky have witnessed it and it’s scary seeing her so angry).

The party would be protective of the Cryptid trust me

Especially spooky bc their stories are a bit similar ;)

I don't know why it's so fun to give c!Dream all the boyfriends but it is

Not even all at once, just like, c!George (and maybe c!Sapnap 👀) were his first loves, their relationship was innocent and happy if not a bit chaotic, then they broke up and split apart, c!Punz was someone he was scared to say he truly loved, so he was stuck in this limbo of a strange friends-with-benefits with mutual pinning that both of them didn't think was reciprocated, and than c!Techno he respected for a while but than he got stuck in a cell with him and God he's hit with so much fucking gay panic because Techno's nice, and funny and weirdly attractive?(He attributes that to being alone in a cell for 6 months) and sure he never truly allows himself to hope that him and Techno would become something more than friends but he craves safety and unconditional love so part of him does hope, and after prison break Techno kinda just kicks him out? Like can we talk about that for a second? Because Dream is surprised that Techno wants his armour back and for him to leave. Which just ooooo so much DNB angst potential

Any way tldr I really like giving c!Dream complex romantic relationships/feelings on people because it just vibes correctly

In your Crypt AU what happened to Drista and Dream after Sam gone missing?

Especially since even Dream gone missing (if I read correctly)

*giggles evilly* well this will be a fun one.

Also major spoiler warning as well as warning for copious amounts of murder. Like so much murder only 5 people who are involved in XD's whole backstory get to live. and only one of them is an obviously major character.

Honestly I'm not sure what I what I shouldn't spoil but I guess this au isn't getting a fic anytime soon sooo tis fine :) I wanna talk about it anyway.

First of all Dream did in fact go missing! You read that right!

But I'll leave that situation for last since your asking about what happened to them in general c:

For some context Dream was almost 15 when Sam got murdered(and everyone knows that he is in fact dead, his body was very much there), Drista was not even a year old.

This drives a... conderable wedge between him and XD. Because Dream isn't stupid. And frankly, XD's isn't trying to seem all that aggrieved, just towards the cops and his acquaintances. This is also what sort of tips off Callahan(who is a whole nother can of worms ksjskshskjs).

Basically Dream kinda knows XD did it. But also doesn't want to believe it and can't prove it. He would have run away, but he had a baby sister to take care of, and he wasn't going to just.. leave Drista behind.

He thinks about it more after he turns 16. His close friend Foolish even offering that his dad would take him and Dris in in a heartbeat. And Dream already has a good relationship with Puffy anyway.

But uhhhhh XD likes Foolish, he really does, he does not in fact like him enough to allow him to steal his son. Safe to say Foolish pops up a few days later in less then alive pieces :)

Puffy moves away fast enough that XD doesn't think she'll be a problem.

Anyway. This does not strengthen Dream and XD's relationship in the slightest. It only keeps him there for two more years before he goes to college.

He hates leaving Drista alone, but so far XD hasn't been violent towards him or her, and he just.. needs to be out. He absolutely visits all the time though, just to check that Drista is ok and doing well.

and he actually gets a good support network at college! He meets George and Sapnap, and even the man he decides he wants to spend his life with, Fundy :).

They don't end up being able to get married. Because uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh well Fundy is kinda his own can of worms but the short version is that Fundy has some... Personal beef with XD let's say. And XD doesn't do well with a gun pressed to his head. Safe to say Fundy's body is never found and was probably fed to the gators.

At this point Dream is pretty sure that XD has killed, his dad, one of his best friends, and his fiance. (Oh actually also Punz, who was a close online friend that I couldn't fit in neatly) Somehow it takes him a year to try and kill him.

It doesn't go well, to say the least.

XD at least feels bad about this one of though. Like sure, Dream tried to kill him and has been making it his mission to be (in XD's perspective) an annoying little shit about everything. But that's still his baby boy. That's his kid. And he sort of did it in a rage, he didn't mean to. Dream was just so wrong about all these people. But he still regrets it so much.

Dream's the only one of his victims to get a proper burial.

He can't bear to report him dead though. Just missing. Forever missing.

Now on the Drista side of things :D

She has a pretty normal first 8 years of her life honestly beyond the absolute tension between her older brother and her dad.

Like sure sone people just. Go missing. But she doesn't have enough of a sense of object permanence to really think they're dead.

The only one she really processes that for is Sam, even though she doesn't remember him, Dream makes sure she knows about their dad. Telling her stories and going through his old coding files to teach her about his work. She's pretty good at coding for an 8 year old!

But it's on one of these visits from her brother that stuff completely changes for her. Because she doesn't like. See Dream's death. But she hears it.

The next 2 years are rough. She absolutely hates XD for his actions, and she tries to run away a lot. She always gets dragged back and XD shows disgusting slivers of humanity. He cries every time she runs away, he never starts mad. Just so so terrified.

Then he angry once she's back inside and he's held her for a while. He never hurts her though. Not physically at least, and he doesn't shout either. He still treats her like glass even when he's mad at her and even when she's scratching and biting and kicking and squirming.

No matter how many times she's brought back though, she doesn't stop trying. And one time, she just manages to do it.

Now where she is and what she's doing I'm not actually going to say, but she is most definitely alive. XD thinks she's dead though, he doesn't really see how she could have survived out there and yet he or the police couldn't find her.

She's alive and .... Well I can't really say she's well but she isn't homeless. And that's all I'll say on the matter.

Sorry if this was too long lol I just have a lot of thoughts for this au.

Thinking about if I met c!Dream in a reverse (or not reverse au) Isekai like scenario is so funny to me because he would be so fucking confused as to why this short mother fucker just showed up and is now being clingy as fuck and trying to be his friend and casually refers to his war crimes like they are no big deal and also just simultaneously calling him out on all his bullshit and treating him like a fucking angel

Reverse isekai aus are just fun

Like imagine c!Dream seeing dreblr? Man would be so confused and yet strangely touched? And also highly doubting all of our sanities

Honestly might make a reverse isekai au now just so I can make c!Dream confused and also so damn traumatized because all of his trauma is being frothed over by people like we're all here absolutely dissecting and braining about the prison torture and everything else but to him that is obviously his reality, it would be violating probably to see so many people inspecting your life, thinking that none of it happened to you because they don't think you're real, and seeing the how he is villainized so much by other bits of the fandom as well...

I might be thinking about this too much but I feel like it would be interesting

Some concept sketches of our lovely developer :D along with a few snippets from an article about his upcoming game Adventures in Esempi

Adventures in Esempi is an ai-powered open-world rpg. One that promises to be truly limitless "I wanted to create a dnd-like experience. Where the story can be truly limitless if the DM has ideas, just for people who don't have anyone to be their DM." The developer "XD" says in an interview. "AI was my way of doing that. And I know people will come at me for using AI. But it does take effort to create. I have worked for years on this project to train my characters. And it's not even ready yet. I'm currently doing my 3rd wave of play testing and I'm sure one of my lovely play testers will come across a bug that is game breaking and I'll have to reset the AI's parameters all over again." Another quote from the developer reads.

"Every character I make is a tribute to someone I've lost or someone who impacted me greatly. With a few cameos for some of my play testers who without which this game would not exist. Though there is one character that's a little easter egg, should you go looking for it." XD says when asked about his character creation process

A little bit more about the development: Adventures in Esempi is a passion project of it's currently sole developer a person known as XD (note that while XD identifies as trans-masc and uses both he/him and they/them pronouns for the purposes of this article XD will be refered to with he/him pronouns or simply "XD"). The game has had many other developers over the years, the longest working on the project being Sam Isenberg, or Awesamdude as was his online name, and the mysterious Callahan. Sam -who was also XD's husband at the time- worked on the first ideas and attempts at the project in the late 90s and the 2000s before being found dead in 2010 shortly after leaving the project and filing for divorce. We know much less about Callahan. Only that he worked on the project from the year 2006 to 2014 when he went missing. But even with these loses, and even more person ones in the time of the games development XD has kept on the project. Honoring past developers that left the project with a character ingame.

I think that's all I'll give you for now ;) but that is a pretty big lore drop

also tw for implied child abuse and one mention of a child being hit (not contiunasly just twice with different people behind it each time), and one other mention of a child being harmed in a relatively minor way

I really should have clarified this is almost directly after the other Cryptid and Quackity in formal wear arts I’ve done. which I don’t think I’ve ever really explained? because honest i haven’t decided all the details. i just know that a fancy event is held at las nevadas and afterwards the las nevadas crew kinda like, goes around the server? like bar hopping but without the bars? they’re still all deunk though. it’s very chaotic.

They just so happen to run into staged duo (not directly but staged duo can see them, if they actually had awareness they’d probably be able to see them too)

and uhhhhhhh welll Cryptid and Q aren’t exactly.. obeying quaritoine rules?/platonic this pisses both Dream and Punz off. amd wellll Punz is kinda the more confrotational of the two?(he feels like he should fight dream’s battles because he wasn’t there for him in prison)

so he uhhh yoinks his child cryptid. They do not appreiate this. Q also, does not appreiate this. but Punz kept Quackity in his basement for 2 weeks and experiemented on him, safe to say he has the intimadation points. and the height advantage.

Anyway yeah that’s all the context I SHOULD have given. But brain was wprking a mile a minute because dod!Punz is walking contrictions if they were good at pvp. and I love him for it.

to elaborate on that. the guy is one, trying to gaslight himself imto thinking he doesnt want to make out with Dream, two trying to gaslight himself into think he doesn’t care about Cryptid.

which like…. wrong but also he does truly hate Cryptid a bit and is hella jealous of them. He also has tucked them into bed and condsidered for a brief second staying with them when they request him to.

And that���s not even touching how Cryptid feels about him. because he is the reason for aproximately a 4th of their issues. and also their idol a bit.

and they just hate each other but also care about each other in such an interesting mix.

Punz genuinely thinks they are a brat and that they are incredibly dramatic about how bad their lofe is because they have it ”good” in his eyes. but he also genuinely would never want to see them hurt and seeing them with Quackity makes him seeth because their risking their safety and also that their wasting their potential which he begrudgingly admits they have.

But also. he is the only person on the server to have scarred Cryptid(physically I mean), when they first met properly he held a dagger to their throat. they were fine, it’s just a little scar but it was still signifagant. He is also one of the only people to have hit them, the only other person being Quackity, was only once. still happened though.

Sorry this kinda just spiralled to me rambling about dod!punz with no real end point but he’s one of my favorites for just how convoluted he is. i would ramble more. but also it’s 6:30 am and I should go to bed lol.

Ok so first off, Wolf in sheep’s clothing by Set it off is just…… perfect for pre-Dream’s death XD, specifically with it being directed at him, though a few lines are definately from him or his pov, honestly idk how to describe how perfect the song is with out just… sumerizing my whole plans for an animatic of it but long story short it goes through all his murders up to Dream’s and I have such a vision tm

And then I didn’t draw a sketch for this one but Christmas kids by Roar is just some premium XD and Drista vibes

two other songs I didn’t sketch for are the heathers songs Yo Girl and Meant To Be Yours, though ironically JD is different people across them, yo girl being XD and meant to be yours being ai!wilbur but in both Cryptid takes the place of Veronica :)

Important note that Meant to be yours is way more vague vibes where as Yo girl is just like. hello major plot inspiration.

tbh ai!wilbur and cryptid also fit freeze your brain(also from heathers) You have not seen wilbur be genunine in THE SLIGHTEST that program man is so unstable lmao

And then after that we get Love in paradise from epic the musical, with XD as Calypso, Cryptid as Odysseus, and Drista as Athena :D (like I said. major fucking spoilers)

I was feeling the Dre’s little ghost au vibes so take Crypt with Ghostbur and Revivebur :D

Crypt really likes Ghostbur! even thinking of him as uncle Ghostbur! They’re just silly little guys doing silly little guy things!

Crypt does not have as favorable view of Revivebur..

They have a very inate sense of who are bastards. and Wilbur rings all the alarm bells. they don’t like how he acts towards Cala either and are absolutely determined to keep their mama safe!

they hate him immensely. he is right up there with Sam and Quackity(who specifically they have SO much beef with. and not just for Cala and Dre reasons!)

anyway yeah did you know ladybugs are assosiated with protection amoung other things(mainly luck)? well they are! and Crypt is incredibly protective! they very often step in front of Cala and Dre and effectively hiss at whoever they deem unsafe. or in extreme cases bite them!

this is somewhat hilarious as an image because they are literally 3’8 and very obviously 8 years old, and also they’re mute and their sounds end up.. kinda strange? but they refuse to let being small and unable to curse out their opponents stop them from protecting their family!

also I gotta mention that while they are glaring or hissing at people they are absolutely cursing them out in their mind. they internally swear like a damn salior when angry because of ahem backstory reasons tm

they get nice and creative with the insults too! they lament not being able to say them.

oh btw just putting this here, Dre’s little ghost au is an au of @calamari-minecraft-corner’s ghost au :)

So now that I've introduced you to AiE!Drista I figured I should finish up my concept sketch for her :D

Not real Drista because I had more ideas for her ai version because XD is very normal about his daughter running away a doesn't feel a gaping hole in his person and lots of grief :D

He's so normal about it that he's just going to engineer an ai based on her then make it the god of his game world. He's so normal about it that he's going to make this ai have the most detailed texture of anyone.

She's based on a burrowing owl just like her brother :D(who I haven't designed yet but shh he will be)

She has so much existential dread.

She's XD's baby girl and if he has to keep reseting her ai so that for a few minutes he can pretend that he did drive away one of the only three things he truly loved and killed the other two so be it.

And of course it always fucks up. They all fuck up. He doesn't care when it's the others. But god does it hurt when that thin, thin wall of illusion falls and he has to see it for what it is, an algorithm taught to imitate his daughter.

And it always realizes that and throw it in his face.

Maybe he should find some more.. real distractions.

Anyway yeah I love my babies :D

Real!AiE!Drista's doing as well as anyone in this au can do though so good for her! I'll have to actually draw her soon. She is great. And filled with so many horrors.

Well dear reader thankfully I can help. XD has kept extensive logs about them. of course I know more. But I like to keep to information that's been gathered or said(of course excluding my lovely sketches) so I'm afraid there will be a few holes.

Annnd there might be some retrospective. So a few things have been removed for spoiler reasons. And most of XD's... notes have been removed. They tend to be of little consequence beyond showing his obsessions.

Now how about some sketches of PT51, or "Cryptid", as is their chosen name.

I've taken a few sketches from across the timeline, for your enjoyment :3

PT51 was not supposed to be a playtester, actually. They are the kid of PT43 that asked for a copy of the game to play test for themself. Despite this they have the highest play time by far. Maybe this should be expected since they were doing it more for leisure then work? But even then, in the 2 months and a half they have spent a little under 360 hours on the game. That is a fourth of their time. And their chats are fascinating! So of course I did some digging, (sorry. I can't include this bit :3) So here's what I found. Their legal name seems to be "Rose Victoria(?) Eliott" Victoria as their middle name is only speculative, but I find it likely. However, this may not be their preferred name. In game they go by "Cryptid", not telling in it's self but they have always refered to themself with they/them and their father has always referred to them with they/them and exclusively "my kid", even correcting himself when he almost used she/her. All this to say I will refer to them as "Cryptid" and use they/them. Another thing I find fascinating is the fact they are homeschooled. I know this because when I asked about their playtime in relation to school (their father said they were 14 previously) they replied with quote "I'm homeschooled. And my schedule's pretty loose. So it hasn't really messed with it :)". The reason for their homeschooling I haven't got confirmation on. But I suspect it might be related to their ADHD. They seem a lot like Dream in that way. And they have bonded with the ai. though one thing about their playtime is that the AI's have been active so much in their save that they have gotten more... Aware. I've tried multiple soft resets. But it hasn't helped too much. They're getting antsy. I don't blame Cryptid though! They seem like a lonely kid. A lot like Dris was after Dream's death. If not quite a bit more cheerful. One other issue of note is their player ai has gotten... aware... Not fully yet. But in the times Cryptid isn't playing it's been developing. I've try to delete it but it seems to be popping up again

It doesn't seem to be dangerous. But I would still prefer it didn't exist. It's having too many existence crisises and I'd prefer it to not to break things. It's not even supposed to exist.

That's all of their file I'll share for now. The rest turns much more... Unhinged.

Crypt is a ladybug hybrid ghost who is just kinda… around the smp. but they really like Dre when they meet him. and adopt him as their father. dre does not participate in this decision.

he doesn’t mind too much. Crypt doesn’t really explain the whole ”you’re my dad now.” (i mean they kinda can’t. they can’t speak. and they don’t know any sign language) but uhhh it works out fine. beyond the seperation axiety on Crypt’s end.

then Dre gets summoned and Crypt glares at XD for long enough that he decides he’s done with this and lets them go back to clinging to Dre’s side
