hi there :] i'm not sure if you're still active, but if you are, i had a couple questions about some things? i'm sorry in advance if any of my questions are insensitive or if i seem uneducated, i just don't know where to look for answers and despite my academic experience i'm awful at navigating scientific research articles lmao, so i figured i'd go straight to someone who has experience with these kinds of things yknow?

anyway, what is tourettic ocd? i discovered the term today and went down a little research rabbithole and it seems to align with a lot of the experiences i have that i just figured were symptoms of classic ocd (i'm not diagnosed with ocd, but it has been something i have been wanting to talk to my therapist about, but there's only so much you can cover in an hour every other week lol). is it a subtype of tourettes or a subtype of ocd or just its own thing? is it something purely neurological? i've seen a couple people say tourettic ocd is just tourettes, but that was on reddit so i don't completely trust that lmao. i was just really curious about it because the feelings and experiences described in what i read really resonated with me and aligns a lot with how i've felt while doing my rituals and compulsions since i first started developing what i believe are ocd symptoms years ago.

ALSO this is completely unrelated but can coprolalia develop from exposure to content containing explicit language? i ask this because my little brother has tourettes and even though he's 13 my mother shields him from a lot of explicit stuff and she will get upset and me and my other siblings if we accidentally expose him to stuff with cursing even if it's because he's eavesdropping or reading our phones over our shoulders. is this something she even needs to be concerned about? i ask this because she shelters him a lot because he's mid to high support needs and i'm concerned for his social development as someone who is neurodivergent and low support needs and still struggled with social things. i don't want him to suffer like i did, as dramatic as that sounds.

So, Tourettic OCD isn't actually in the DSM-5 or the IDC-11 but there's research being done to identify TOCD as its own separate etiology from both just Tourettes and just OCD.

The symptoms recognized at the moment as TOCD include an earlier age of onset than seen in children who only have OCD, but a later age of onset of tics compared to children with pure Tourettes syndrome. In TOCD the tics are often prompted by a need to repeat actions or vocalizations until they feel 'just right' or have been done a set number of times. Typically those with TOCD have compulsions and rituals surrounding symmetry, repetition, and touching and tapping rather than compulsive handwashing and obsessive thoughts that more commonly characterize classical OCD.

Most interesting, there's a cortico-striatal-thalamo-cortical (CSTC) pathway connection in both OCD and Tourettes and the research implicates this pathway contributing to TOCD.

As for coprolalia, less than 10% of those with Tourettes have this particular type of tic and exposure to swearing definitely does not 'cause' someone with tourettes to develop coprolalia tics. Of course, those who already have coprolalia can be triggered by hearing swearing, but otherwise, there shouldn't be a need to worry :)

Royal Thai Navy's HTMS Chang (III) Receives Royal Anointing Ceremony and Enhancements

On May 18, 2024, His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn presided over the royal boat anointing ceremony for the HTMS Chang (III) at Chuk Samet Pier, Sattahip Naval Base in Chonburi Province. This auspicious event marked a significant blessing for the Royal Thai Navy and its personnel. The previous anointing ceremony for a naval vessel was for the frigate HMS Bhumibol Adulyadej on October 16, 2019, also at Chuk Samet Pier, highlighting a five-year interval between these significant ceremonies. HTMS Chang (III), a Type 071ET Landing Platform Dock (LPD), is part of the Amphibious and Combat Support Service Squadron (ACSSS) of the Royal Thai Fleet. This vessel is an export version of the Type 071 class landing craft utilized by the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). Built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group in Shanghai, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), HTMS Chang arrived in Thailand in April 2023 and has since been engaged in qualification testing and various training exercises. In April 2024, the Mahidol Adulyadej Naval Dockyard conducted limited repairs and inspections of HTMS Chang in dry dock to assess the condition of the ship below the waterline before the end of its warranty period from China Shipbuilding Trading Company (CSTC). On May 15, 2024, the Royal Thai Navy's Naval Equipment Procurement Office announced a budget allocation for upgrading HTMS Chang's combat capabilities. The project, with a budget of 920 million baht (approximately $25.3 million), aims to enhance the ship's combat management, surveillance, fire control, and weapon systems. Spirits are an alcoholic product made from fermented sugar. The fermented sugar is distilled to yield a higher alcohol by volume.  During World War II, sugar was a black market commodity needed for illegal distilling operations. 

On 28 April 1945, Robert Guice was charged with illegally distilling spirits. Following is his record of incarceration in the state of Alabama.

The record shows that an application for parole made on 24 April 1946 was denied. Robert Guice was found guilty on 21 June 1946, and sentenced to serve one year and one day. As of 24 June 1946 probation was given further consideration, but denied on 28 June 1946. It appears that Robert had a prior conviction in 1921. The record notes he pleaded guilty and was fined $25 and circuit court costs.

Robert was fifty years old when he entered confinement on 2 July 1946. He was paroled pending good behavior on 23 August 1946. A notation was made that the distilling fee was paid on 28 October 1946.[1]

Robert Guice, the son of Chapel and Laura Ann (Harris) Guice, was born on 3 June 1895 in Mount Andrew, Barbour County, Alabama.[2] He moved to Birmingham, Alabama around 1917. Robert married Minnie Lee Driver on 5 June 1918 in Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama.[3] Shortly after his marriage, Robert joined the U.S. Army. He served during World War I from August to November 1918.[4] During his lifetime, Robert worked as a cook in a restaurant,[5] a laborer in a box factory,[6] and a machinist for the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway (the “Frisco���).[7] At the time of the 1950 U.S. Census, Robert was listed as “unable to work”.[8] However he was the owner/operator of Guice Grocery in the 1950s.[9] Robert died on 13 July 1970 in Birmingham.[10]
