as you anxiously awaited Pau's return home, the weight of the match hung heavy in the air. the room felt emptier, the silence louder, without his usual presence beside you. each tick of the clock seemed to echo the passing moments, prolonging the agonizing wait.

you unfortunately couldn’t be there. uni was taking all of your free time recently. with essays being due and exams needing to be made.

when the door creaked open, the sight that greeted you shattered your heart into little pieces. Pau, usually calm, stood before you with tears staining his cheeks, shoulders slumped in defeat. with a pang in your chest, you rushed to his side, enveloping him in a warm embrace. one of your hands left his back to the back of his head, stroking his hair. the faint smell of grass and sweat lingered on his clothes, a strong reminder of what he just came home from.

words seemed inadequate in the face of his pain, so you simply held him tight, offering silent support and understanding. after guiding him to the shower to wash away the weight of his emotions and letting him change into fresh clothes, meanwhile you prepared a comforting snack. “hey” he mumbled. “hey” you paused “let’s get into bed, cuddle and watch some netflix while we eat a snack”

Just as Pau is about to slip into the row of seats in the plane first and settle down in the window seat, you grab his arm.

"What?" he asks, looking back at you.

"Can I... Can I sit by the window, please?"

"Oh, sure," your boyfriend nods, backing out to let you in. You sit down and lay a blanket on your lap as Pau gets settled in next to you. You tuck a headrest behind your head before taking out your phone to text everyone before take off.

Pau is doing the same thing, but gently rests his hand over your shoulder as he does so. You smile sleepily at his kind touch.

"You excited?" he asks as the plane begins taking off.

You grin, eyeing him. "Yeah. It'll be good... I'm excited. I think I'm going to try to nap, though, on this flight to our vacation spot... You know, I'm kind of tired... Want to be all energized for when we get there."

"Oh, alright," he nods, watching as you prop your pillow up against the window and lean your head against it. You shut your eyes, but after a few moments, they flutter open again when Pau asks, "So that's why you wanted the window seat?"

"Yeah," you say with a yawn. "Listen, Pau, I really need to sleep-"

"Well," he says with a little frown. "It's just that... that position doesn't look very comfy..."

Your eyebrows scrunch together. "It's not really, but it'll do..."

"Well..." Suddenly, you see a little glimmer in Pau's eyes. "What do you need the uncomfortable window for when you can just lay on me, hm?"

Your mouth relaxes into a smile as you sigh, relieved, and a little chuckle escapes you. Pau grins, snatching your pillow from your hand. "Come on, now," he speaks softly and playfully at the same time, and the adorable smile on his face remains. "Get yourself comfy."

"Alright, then," you giggle softly. You take the pillow back and put it on his shoulder, before leaning on it and draping your legs over his lap.

You feel his arm tuck under you to pull you closer to him, onto his lap more.

"You comfy now, Y/n?"

You sigh, contented. "Much more comfortable. Now, shut up and let me sleep!"

He chuckles and nods.

Just as you're falling asleep to his gentle rubbing of your back, you hear him whisper, "Sleep tight, love."

You sigh and let yourself slip into a peaceful slumber, feeling safe in the arms of the one you love and trust the most.
