THE CURSE OF NEFRUMANIAH 2024

Every year at the turn of hallow's season, the evil known as Nefrumaniah threatens to escape and wreak havoc upon the civilized world. For over a century, the great arid Kingdom of Zephet has routinely succeeded in keeping the nefarious sorceress trapped within the confines of her tomb, but with no certain way to kill her for good, it kept the kingdom alert for such a time when she would finally break through. That time would happen sooner than expected. Queen Dempsie, the most recent heir of the throne, was ceremoniously possessed by the evil spirit after a freak accident. Taking on the body of the desecrated princess, the evil sorceress immediately began enslaving the entire country and took over as the self-righteously established Queen Nefrumaniah. The Kingdom of Zephet was on it's knees. The once-noble army had fallen to her curse and was now dancing at her fingertips. It seemed all neighboring countries were destined to surrender to her evil influence or die fighting. There had to be a miracle of some kind. A hero that would save everyone... A strange wanderer found himself standing face-to-face with the corrupted kingdom, and he was as unconventional as they came. Wielding a magick staff, the stranger was an inhuman wonder - a contortionist clown, lanky and awkward, yet embodied fantastic powers that defied reality. Would the outsider be enough to save the Kingdom of Zephet? The C91 Halloween Special is upon us

"Good news: after weeks of struggling, we finally managed to 'de-statue' your friend since that little accident in the museum - which we specifically told everyone to avoid - but that's all done and over with. She should be completely fine now, just... with a few side effects. For one, it looks like the curse is a little bit clingy and didn't completely go away, so she might act or behave in unusual ways, like speaking in ancient Sumerian or chanting weird things at you in your sleep. And since she manifests the spirit of Nefrumaniah, she's going to be highly obsessive and exhibit stalker-like behavior. Also, I know she looks kind of undead but that will probably go away after a while. She's also going to prefer wearing that suit, so you're not likely to get her into anything normal. Other than that, she's completely okay!! Just, uh, I'd recommend chaining her up every night to make sure she doesn't do anything unsupervised."

Follow up to this piece. Poor Dempsie. In her efforts to turn back to normal, she is instead effectively possessed by an evil pharaoh spirit and becomes a zombie. I'm really obsessed with this Egyptian theme lately (I blame Serious Sam a little) and I knew I wouldn't be able to leave it alone until I drew something similar to Eternity At The Museum. I definitely didn't intend for her to end up like a zombie but my drawings usually demand I go in completely unintended directions.
