i could talk extensively about the bell curve relation of percentage of gifsets in the tag selon la qualité of a piece of media but i won't. because sleepy
#the long and short of it is if you go into the tags of very good pieces of media and very bad pieces of media alike you'll mostly just find#gifsets#because there's nothing to really say about them#for the good pieces of media it's because the gifs say enough without having to add seven paragraph analysis textposts on top#and for the bad pieces of media it's because their only redeeming quality might be their aesthetic or That One Scene#but if you're at the mediocre sweet spot the tags are extremely diverse#because things that are almost good. or that are good but not quite achieving their goal are where fandom lives#cuz there's so much opportunity for fanworks and interpretation and theory and Trying To Make The Thing Good#and we're so good at seeing how things could be good even if they're not
