trying to compile the best 9 movies ive seen this year for a mutual but i cant remember 9 movies i even saw this year……getting a letterboxed jan 1st 2024

A came up with the simple descending chords in the left hand and solo line in the right a couple days ago while I was working. So today I booted up Acid and recorded it, then started coming up with other instrument parts and other sections. One of them even became the intro, so it doesn’t even start with the line I came up with a couple days ago.

I originally came up with the line with my keyboard set to sound like a piano, but when I tried the one cheap 80s-esque pad that my keyboard had, it suddenly had some retrowave character to it, so I decided to go full on synthwave/retrowave/synthpop with this one. Back to the 80s again. The main line is a synth that imitates a classic 80s synth, and the counterpoint line is sampled from a DX7. And the percussion is all sampled from 80s drum machines.

These jam sessions are really helping me get better at improvising. And I’m starting to remember just how much of my very early cybergrunge stuff was just that... improvising one thing, then a bassline or counterpoint, then another part, over and over again.

Holy carp... My cyberpunk blog just hit 1000 subscribers. And only like a hundred of them appear to be porn bots.

Just in time for me to have a week off work to try and work on some more cyberpubk music. The last week off I had, I managed to finish my next Cyberloops soundtrack pack and get about halfway done with the next.

I think it may be time for me to pull out my guitar. The reason I didn't finish one piece is because the synth guitar sounds I was using kinda sounded like crap. And I couldn't get a sound I liked at all forthe other piece that I wanted to do.

Quick edit to my last jam session. Added some alternate tracks to fade in and out, and a new arpeggiated loop. (And this time I listened to it on multiple sets of speakers to make sure it was balance. Forgot to do that last time. The percussion didn’t sound overwhelming in my headphones, but on the living room entertainment center when I listened to it AFTER I posted it... phew. All you could hear was percussion.)

When I started doing my cyberpunk themed writing prompt soundtrack things (whew, that’s a mouthful), I had no clue that I would actually be putting things up for sale in any way, shape, or form. But eventually I ended up putting the first 30 up on Bandcamp and putting a few of them along with some looping tracks I put together to sell as soundtracks on the Unity store page.

But that means that any of the random cool images I put together with the prompts before shouldn’t really be connected to anything I do to sell them, because I have no clue about the rights and whatnot for those images. So I’m starting a separate blog specifically for my cyberpunk related stuff, and using images that I actually have the rights to use for personal AND commercial usage. It will probably take a while to reupload everything, since Tumblr seems to only be letting me upload six sound files a day. So for now, I’m just uploading what I can with new album art, and putting them in my queueue. (Spelling queue is easy, just like assassin or banana. It’s stopping that’s the difficult part.)

Anyway, for now, I’m going to try and reupload everything there, and move all of my links relating to ANYTHING that could be construed as commercial. I’ll still keep the original posts here. And I’ll probably crosspost/reblog a few things now and then. But I named the new blog after the series I’ve been putting up on the Unity store: Cyberloops. I wanted to go with the original title of my writing prompts, Digital Inspiration, but that was already taken.

I haven’t updated this blog much lately because I was doing a little experiment regarding my writing. I started writing some smut (The category on Amazon is ‘erotica’, but let’s not beat around the bush. Pun intended.) to see if 1) I could actually earn some money writing, and 2) I could actually buckle down and get things done on schedule. And for a while, I did. I never broke more than 160 dollars a month, mostly because by the time I worked up a big enough back catalogue to actually start earning decent money, summer was over and my job had started back up again. So I went from two or more short stories a week down to just writing one in four to six hours every Friday that I wasn’t working.

Unfortunately, by the end, I was getting a little burned out. Out of the three main creative outlets that I have, I was doing one... but not working on any of my own work. It was all for that project. And I learned a lot. I got good experience. And I was churning out 5-6k stories in four to six hours, then making a cover, then editing and formatting the eBook in another hour or two. The stories were all trash, of course. And the covers weren’t much better. But it was damn good experience. And damn hard work. (Pun not intended, I only noticed it after I wrote it.) And since I got a subscription to a photo service for the cover art, and I never quite used up my monthly allotment of photos and they stack month to month, I’ve got more than a hundred photos I can license for personal and/or commercial use. So I’m going to take a little break from writing and get back into doing some music, and I’ll take advantage of those photos that I already paid for and use them for album and splash art and whatnot.

I’ve also had a hankering lately to actually sit down and learn how to use Unity more than just to shove some mp3s in there and put it up on the store. I suppose I could use some of those photos for textures and whatnot if I start dabbling in games again.
