Netrunning

(A starter for @thedorkpolice-rp for the Cyberpunk RP)

Night City was a hotbed of corruption and corporate abuse. Gangs selling drugs blowing each other up with heavier and heavier weapons, while the line between man and machine blurred harder than ever. Fixers would sell anything to anyone given the right price as the cyberpsychos, people who had so much cybernetic augmentation they’d gone mad and murderous ravaged the street, being taken down by specific branches of the police who were often half-crazed themselves with extreme firepower that left many civilians dead. Human life had never been quite so worthless as it was now. Saburo was a Netrunner, or back in the old days he’d be called a “hacker”. He dove into the net and retrieved juicy information, beating Black ICE programs that wanted to kill him and DEMONS that wanted to erase him with his Cyberdeck and Interface Plugs. No keyboard, just find the access point and plumb in. Buying and selling information was profitable if dangerous, Saburo has a luxury apartment and was quite happy doing what he did, until he found something he shouldn’t about Takayuki Corporation and now they’d pretty much bought the police to arrest him. Plugging his programs in and going online, that electrical tingle down his spine as he began accessing police records and CCTV. Most of the officers were brutish thugs with the brain cells of a jellyfish post-stroke, but a few weren’t corrupt assholes looking to crack heads open. Meatspace, or the real world was very uninteresting to Saburo, who’d stolen money to augment himself with what he needed for his job as well as techhair, fibre optic cables that felt like the real thing. He’d lost his real hair after an explosion, this stuff made him look normal. Change the color with a thought and it lit up for the cyberraves. “You have your mission... Bring him in, feel free to be rough but leave his implants. He can work for us... no salary of course, a life sentence.” One of the Takayuki Corporate Representative laughs, holding up a contract. Signing that would more or less condemn Saburo to a life of slavery and mistreatment, but that’s what they demanded. “You have your orders, Adachi. Bring him in.” The chief detective stated.
