Find places that spark your imagination. They are where dreams are made. . . . One of my favourite places to visit is the village of Eynsford in Kent. This is a truly charming village full of so many quaint buildings and cute streets. I used to visit there often as a child and it holds a lot of fond memories for me. This marvellous viaduct looks over the valley below and looks as if it should be on the set of a film. What a wonderful weekend we had! Tord and I were busy on all days and we had such nice weather and so much fun! It all started rather stressful on Friday, when we had to sign more paperwork, which meant travelling for a few hours. In the evening we only fixed some things in my garden (I am trying to protect my greenhouse and flowers from the first frosty nights,). Yesterday, we went horsebackriding, which was an activity that Tord has given me as a birthday present and which we until now just never got around to do. It was a lovely tour and we had the nicest horses and tourleader 🤍 After that we went mushroom picking in the forest and got another little basket full, exactly when I had emptied the first one from last weekend 😊 Then Tord went out to start picking the berries from my black currant bushed while I prepared a late dinner. Needless to say, we slept really well that night. Today we helped Tords family clearing the garden of Tords grandparents and as usual it was a blast working hand in hand and getting really nice dinner in wonderful company as thanks 🥰 Now I am cooking syrup from the black currants that Tord picked and enjoy the thought of this being one of the last weekends where Tord and I have to spend Sunday evening and the week to come apart. The chamomile in my garden is almost out of bloom and when driving through the landscape more and more shades of yellow and brown take over what was green only a few weeks ago. Exciting times lie ahead as well as a big change (yes, another one!) which I will talk more about soon. Summer really has come and with the beginning of July a heatwave had come. We have had almost 30°C today and the next few days aren't going to be any colder. I did several loads of laundry that all dried so quickly and maybe Tord and I will go for a swim this evening. It has been so beautiful in my greenhouse, everything keeps growing and thriving and I am so happy about everything. Today was also the first day of my summer holiday and it started with the best of news: my education as speech therapist now finally is recognized in Sweden, which has been a long and hard road of communication with authorities, getting the right documents and waiting for their desicion. My black currants were in bloom and now already green berries have formed, waiting to ripen. Almost every day I spend some time in my greenhouse, binding up the pumpkins (that are growing at an incredible speed and since I want to have them climb upwards this year, I have to tend to them almost daily), pinching out side branches of my tomatoes and picking snails from my sallad. Lilac is one of the most beautiful smells of summer and I am dreaming of having a huge lilac in my garden someday 🤍 It reminds me of when I took this photo a few weeks back at Tord's sister's home. The other day I found out that the leaves to this little plant actually are edible. They taste a bit sour, but good and I find those leaves so pretty and will definitely decorate some sallads with it in the future. At the moment I am trying to learn more about the flora here and I often look into books or ask locals what a certain plant is to find out more about it. Today was such a rainy and moody day. We spent it sleeping in really long (I needed it after not being able to get sufficient sleep during the week) and then on the couch, watching Netflix and listening to the rain hit the window. Then we went for a loooong walk. First we went down to the lake and then I was curious to see if there was still snow left in the forest so we walked a bit up the hill behind my house and ended up finding a small path that I never have walked before and explored it. It ended just in the middle of the forest, where shrubbery was too thick to see the path continue but it was really beautiful and I am sure I will return to it soon! 🤍 Pixie followed us all the was, curiously exploring together with us and went straight to her food bowl and then to sleep when we came home. She looked so tired and happy. When we were in Germany, my parent's garden was in full bloom already and it was so wonderful to see all the colors exploding around us and has made returning to ice and snow so much more bearable. Now, finally even at home the first flowers are starting to emerge from the ground that is already less brown and more green than just a week ago. Even though there is still a risk for frost I am starting to put plants outside and am looking forward to seeing how everything will look like a month from now. Usually June is the month with the most vibrant colors and I am so curious about all the plants in our garden coming back to life.
