Had an intense moment of kundalini in realizing my association with Minecraft today

I've always really really admired all those people with Minecraft worlds that span multiple different versions, with tons of infrastructure and rails and storage systems and silly little builds like a giant pixel art of goku or a house made of sponge.

I also love playing the game with friends.

Probably 5 years ago I started discovering a new way of creatively interfacing with the game--modding. This really made me think of Minecraft different. It wasn't a game anymore, it was a game engine. I could craft whole experiences. It also activated this art appreciation and curation part of my mind. I love getting to know a mod inside and out. Figuring out what makes it tick technically, and the game design inherent in it.

I've never had a survival world though.

But every time I try. I can only get so far before I just get fed up with the game.

Inventory management, even with 27 extra slots from some mod. Drives me nuts.

Movement. Trying to build without flight. It's just downright frustrating.

The grind. I really prefer almost no grind at all. It isn't gameplay to me. It's tedium. If I wanted to space out and get a whole lot done absent mindedly while listening to a podcast, I'd do it at work.

And recently I've made a few attempts. Trying to enjoy the game again, like that. I got close, but ultimately. I couldn't stick around long enough to get an environment going. A world to call my own.

I was about to make a post like "ohhh woohoo in my inevitable anarcho primitivist commune, there's no youtube, you're gonna have to listen to some dude read a book or something" And idk I couldn't make it funny and then I set my phone down and my brother in-law's Dad started talking about this Robin he saw outside and how he saw it feeding its young, and some research he did on Robins and I'm like wow. We don't need anymore entertainment. I think we all in our modern era encounter enough unique and powerful information to have something useful and entertaining and enriching to share with one another. I think we, as a species, were made for that.

I don't care if you watched a video esssay and can't do it justice, I don't care if what you saw was pretty unremarkable all things considered, I don't want you to pull open the book and try to find the quote. Give me it in your own words. Through your own eyes and ears. When did we decide the only perspectives worth thinking about were the ones with high production budgets, made by people we don't even live with.

I got kinda burnt out. Frustrated. I didnt even wanna think about the game

Then today I went through a screenshots folder

I've spent many more words waxing poetic about all the different ways people play this game, and I somehow didn't understand. I don't make stuff *in* this game. I make stuff *with* this game. It's been that way since I was 8.

Why go through so much pain, working against the grain of my artistic nature.
