Hey y'all.
Um since a lot of you don't know, Damballah? Is an actual god from the Vodun Haiti pantheon.
And according to Haitian lore, he is kind, patient, and peaceful....
That's how fucking bad the Chucky movies and series have represented him.
To the people who have watched this show and practice Vodun, or have connections to it, I am so damn sorry.

In the beginning: Damballah Wedo and Ayida Wedo ⚕️🌈🐍🤍
Symbolism is important. I believe there’s always a message. Whether it’s sent through animals or people, there is importance and meaning behind it and by being as present, grounded, and conscious as I can be, I won’t miss it.
Tumblr media
Meditation is one of the tools that aid me in staying present and more grounded. I find it relaxing to meditate near water and in nature. I hear more loudly when in quiet surroundings. My mind feels more at ease and a lot clearer.
I learn a lot from being observant and I search deeper and discover more about my culture, roots, and myself.
I’ve learned butterflies are deep and powerful representations of life. They are beautiful and have mystery and are a metaphor representing spiritual #rebirth, #transformation, change, hope, and life.
As for apples, the forbidden fruit is a symbol of the beginning, knowledge, immortality, and temptation.
I’ve learned that snakes and their worship were essential to the people of west Africa, such as the Fon and Dahomey.
The serpent spirit is ancient, I’ve learned about it and the rainbow’s tale and even people who know very little about Haitian Vodou seem to know about it.
Sacred stories traverse boundaries and limitations, and this story of two divine snakes is no exception.
In a time before, there were two serpents- masculine and feminine. They were lovers, intertwined souls, who danced their magick on the continent of #Africa.
There came a time when that was no longer possible. Due to War and strife, the possibility and the push of a new land became necessary. The serpents made the journey to the new world.
Damballah made the trip beneath the seas, the realm of the ancestors, and profound wisdom.
Ayida traveled across the sky as wearing the crown of the rainbow. They met and intertwined again in the New World, bringing the joy and beauty of their majesty.
Each time you see a rainbow, you’ll know that these two are meeting to rejoice in their love. The rainbow is also the symbol of hope and new beginnings. In love, in a career, or in any aspect of life.

Iirc there are 4 (remaining?) elder gods in 616, spawned from the demiurge (probably most closely tied to Billy). Of marvel’s heroes, there are a few with prominent connections to them: Wanda (chthon), Storm (oshtur), and Thor (gaea, though I started thinking about this when she appeared to nature girl a while back). Are there any characters you can think of that are connected to Set in a thematically similar way? It would be really interesting if someone explored these connections as you suggested
Gaea, Oshtur, Set, and Chthon are the most prominent of the surviving Elder Gods, but they're not the only ones. The current Immortal Thor series has established that the Utgard-Loki and Utgard-Thor are, in fact, part of the original pantheon of Elder Gods of Earth, who were sealed in Utgard by their sister, Gaea. The Utgard-Thor's true name is Toranos, but the Utgard-Loki's true name has yet to be revealed. In the past, Utgard's residents, Those Who Sit Above In Shadow, have been referred as the Elder Gods of Agard. I'm curious if that will retconned, or if this new backstory only applies to Toranos and his brother.
Anyways, to answer your actual question, Set doesn't really get as much as page time as his siblings, and his influence tends to be felt in more subtle ways-- relatively speaking, of course. There aren't any A-list characters with direct connections to him, especially not heroes. Set is heavily involved in the history of Atlantis and Lemuria-- in particular, the Lemurian royal family carries his bloodline. Llyra, who is a recurring Namor villain, is a priestess of Set who frequently appears as the bearer of the Serpent Crown.
She's probably the most closely connected character to Set, but she only has 43 appearances and hasn't been in any comics since 2007. So, in terms of representation, you can tell Set really gets the short end of the stick
Another interesting villain is the sorcerer Damballah*, who was an early enemy of Doctor Voodoo. He's a human devotee of Set with no connection to Lemuria. It would be cool for him to come back, but it should come as no suprise that the character is... kinda racist and might be difficult to update for modern comics.
There are multiple characters and entities named Damballah in the Marvel universe. Damballah, or Damballa, is the name of a deity or spirit in African diaspora religions. Like most polytheistic gods, this deity does exist in the Marvel universe as a living being, and appears alongside other African and African-diaspora religious figures in the gods realms Olun and Bondye. He primarily goes by the name Dam-Ayido Wede.
Damballah is also the name of an Elderspawn demon, who is in fact the child of Set.
The sorcerer Damballah's real name is Josué Koulèv, and he was a devotee of Set who received powers from the Elder God through a magical amulet. He used the name Damballah to pose as a the loa and gather a cult following.
Also, in case you're wondering, Set and the Egyptian god Seth are distinctly separate entities in the Marvel world, unlike Gaea, who is the same as the Greek goddess.

Magic over Bourbon Street: New Manipulation Spells for Shadowrun (1st Edition). Part 2.
Part 1 here.
Let’s wrap up these Manipulation spells and move onto the next article, n’est-ce pas?
Body Rot
Tumblr media
Is it OP? It might be OP. See, I’m keeping up the whippersnapper slang.
Let’s compare it with other S2 drain, sustained mana spells.
Chaos: Subject gets +2 TN per extra success due to distractions. Affects one target.
Stink: Subject gets +1 TN per extra success due to, well, stink. Area effect.
Body Rot: Subject gets +1 TN per round the spell is sustained, “after ten round the target collapses into a heap of stinking, rotted putrescence and stays that way until the spell is dropped.” Affects one target.
That the subject returns to normal after the spell is dropped is the best part – just like using Turn to Goo (drain S4).
Cobra Arms
Tumblr media
Literally.
Tumblr media
Episode 48
Not content with just having snake arms, how about a snake body:
Damballah’s Child
Tumblr media
Shapeshifts the caster into a King Cobra. Can still cast spells. Useful for shadowruns where being a four-meter-long snake isn’t conspicuous.
Herpetology corner!      The King Cobra, while venomous, is native to southern and southeast Asia, which is…
Geography corner!          …nowhere near New Orleans.
Tumblr media
Little Death
Tumblr media
A version of Hibernate that can be used on unwilling targets. If you thought that, given the French influence in New Orleans, that this might refer to la petite mort, the post-orgasmic sensation likened to death, then you are like me.
Spider’s Nest
Tumblr media
Remember the spell Full Stomach where the targets stomach fills with spiders and all they can do is vomit them up? This spell creates a pimple that bursts and expels 6D6 spiders. Honestly surprised we didn’t see more spells in this vein.
Spider Sweat.
Spider Urine.
Spidarrhea.
(I’m so, so sorry for that phrase)
Tears of Blood
Tumblr media
Subject gets +4 TN due to looking like a magic card.
Tumblr media
Tentacles
Guess what this does. Go ahead. I’ll wait.
Tumblr media
Is it this?
Tumblr media
Or this?
It’s this!
Tumblr media
They can stretch to [Body] ft in length, and can combine their individual strength (of 1) with others. Time to become polydactyl!
Venom Spew
Tumblr media
Allows the caster to spit acidic venom, sort of like a spitting cobra. Lots of snake themes here.
Tumblr media
Herpetology corner!      Shouldn’t that be a poison, not a venom? Venoms must be injected, whereas a substance interacting across a surface would be classified as a poison.
Herpetology corner corner!        No! The toxin delivered by spitting cobras can be done via injection – as a venom – but also by an active and direct physical delivery, known as a toxungen.  Poisons involve a passive transfer (ingestion, inhalation, absorption) of the toxin. But note that the venom of spitting cobras isn’t acidic, just toxic.
Herpetology corner!      So, there aren’t animals that spit acid?
Entomology corner!        There sure are! Fire ants (formic acid)! Whip scorpions (acetic acid)!
*casts little death to end this post*

Ok Mattel I fixed your problem cause seriously wtf was that. I would've loved this set if it wasn't so lacking in style and looking so wrong in so many places. Like first of all Tiffany's dress is ugly af and it's also boring as shit she looks too much like barbie ngl. Her hair is too long she doesn't have black roots, those earrings don't fit her, her eyebrows are too thick and her eyeshadow is not black it's purple everyone knows this. The only things that are fine that don't need to be changed are her fishnets and boots. Chucky's overalls I think look too long for a monster high doll the girl needed help so I fixed her up. I got inspired a little bit by bishojou's versions of Chucky and Tiffany were the girl version of Chucky just had a short overall dress. And I have her pigtails with blue bows and red buttons. I also felt that Chucky's hair was too long and just lacked a certain personality. Her face was too bland and too tan so I basically just bleached her and added more scars. We all know that every iconic monster high doll has interesting earrings so I gave Chucky knife earrings and Tiffany heart of Damballah earrings. The same goes for their shoes too I changed Chucky's shoes from a wedge to a knife heel and gave Tiffany a cigarette stud for her shoes instead of that lipstick stud that's unidentifiable. And I also gave Tiffany fishnet gloves and a studded belt as well as a choker. Chucky didn't need the choker Tiffany did. Does Mattel not study these characters before creating these dolls or what because I feel like fans create better doll concept's than Mattel. Idk you tell me, which looks better to you. I think my design kicks ass

Snake Skin Oil For Protection.
Tumblr media
I know a lot of people are afraid of snakes, but it is important to understand that in many cultures, serpent have ties to the cycle of life, death and rebirth.
Before monotheism, snake worship was nearly universal. A symbol of the Great Goddess in Old Europe, Fertility icon in Southeast Asia, Creator- Damballah in Africa, A representation of the celestial equator in Mayan archaeoastronomy, A companion to the God Shiva in India, The "adversary" of human beings in Judaism and Christianity (devil) even Native Americans history.
Jewelry from snakes (like the eyes) were also worn for protection.
So when we look at serpents remember that our ansestors were one with nature and uses snakes is to utilize the energy to keep away the negative people from your lives, such as family, friend etc. In the south call this is called 'A Snake In The Grass' (it's a southern term meaning like mice or rats they come in your live and disrupts it) The ones that only think about them selves.
Snakes are considered spirits of nature and have been used for ages in magic. It's used in spells and rituals in Hoodoo, Voodoo, Witchcraft and more.
What Can Snake Skin Do: The skin of a snake can be used to reverse bad luck, hexes and curses. As well as to hex, and curse another. It can undo and do onto others. Snake Skin can also be used for Protection from others. It can be used to anoint an object to keep it from being touched by.
For this working I'm going to show you how to make snake oil for Protection. When making it snake oil it really depends on what it is going to be used for and that will determine what other ingredients are going in with it.
Tumblr media
Snake Skin Oil For Protection:
Get some snake skin (you can buy it) put it in a bottle of oil.
Pray the 23rd Psalms. Then place it in a dark place for 3 days. After the 3 days take it out.
That's it.
The best way to spiritually work with anything in nature whether it be animal, mineral, or plant is to study its character and understand its natural power.

You know whats crazy about Chucky getting old with Damballah abandoning him: it brings me back to his whole monolog from Seed, when he realizes that being a doll is the best for him, after all those years of trying to become human again, especially because of growing old and sick. And now look at him: getting old and sick, even in his doll body
