every day is a normal day until I am reminded of the utter look of shock on Subaru’s face when he realizes that the story he had told himself over the last, what? 9 years? was not necessarily entirely true...

it’s a nice reminder that the stories that we tell ourselves to make meaning about what happens to us aren’t always necessarily the absolute truth, but a limited version of reality based on our own mental biases.

Right this panel has been begging me to write about it.

So I feel disappointed in myself because I profess all of the Seishiro love but I don’t think I’ve ever necessarily thought too deeply about him. Like yeah I see the usual stuff like Sei being a dork or a creep. But this...

It never really sank in how depressing what he says is until this time around. But more than depressing... he’s relatable af.

idk... to wake up to a meaningless life that is always the same. To wake up to a life of monotony from a good dream... ugh... why am I even here?

I also love that he’s like “at least that’s what I’ve heard”... or basically... “asking for a friend.”

And ok. He could be lying to Subaru, pretending he feels the things he talks about. After all, he’s just asking for a friend. Perhaps this is all part of the charade--he got to know Subaru well enough to where he could say all the right things.

But like... pretending or not, clearly Sei’s words resonated with Subaru because it happened to be that Subaru’s brand of weirdo felt a deep connection to Sei’s brand of weirdo.

Almost like the pain and utter meaninglessness of existence that Subaru felt was mirrored by Sei’s. “Here’s someone who understands me.”

In the depth psych of romantic love, this is termed something along the lines of relating to the other through our wounding.

Jungian Analyst, John Haule, says that lovers know each other through their pain.

Sadly, I wonder if for Seishiro that meant that the pain of loving would be so great that he had to off himself in order to bear it. 

Because when you’re willing to bare your throat at the one who holds the power to hurt you... uh... that’s twisted.

And that’s why I love him.

Because he’s an idiot and he literally just had to let his ego die, not he, himself die.

Like it literally did not have to be that complicated dammit Seishiro why can’t you just be normal?

There’s just something about young Seishiro... Almost like as he got older he learned to hide just how twisted, unhinged and creepy he really is?

I love seeing Sei literally testing boundaries with Subaru and seeing how far he can push while Subaru looks like he’s trying to decide what to make of Sei’s proximity, but more importantly, maybe even realizing he likes it when Sei is touchy like that with him.

I mean... if the boy only knew...

Watching Sei restrain himself from being all grabby with Subaru is so satisfying, especially when we get to see just how much he enjoys being touchy.

His desire for Subaru is off the charts creepy and horny. It’s a shame he’s an idiot and can’t see into his own heart so that he doesn’t understand that he desires.
