Messy mutterings about Chapter 55 spoilers with a small angst warning, copypasted from discord with little cleaning and edits lol
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm imagining Raphael sent Luke away so he wouldn't interfere with him killing/fighting Michael and Simeon went along with the idea and is in the human world too so Luke's not, y'know, on his own in a strange new world and to reduce Luke's suspicion and all. But as Michael and Raphael are fighting or whatever Luke somehow learns what's going on/realizes why things are off and rushes home to try and stop it.
He tries to get between Raphael and Michael(perhaps his back, Raph perhaps striking while Michael is lost in thought missing the brothers, spaced out, staring at the wall where their portraits were) and is struck violently by Raphael's spear instead. Simeon, ofc, followed him home to try and protect him but is too late because of Luke's own determination to protect Michael bonus if he grows a little in this scene--just magically, because his current smol form is too weak to help surely but if he were a little bigger, a little stronger, maybe he could make it in time--!! and Luke is impaled.
He doesn't die but none of the three wanted Luke hurt in this confrontation--Michael is angry at Raph for attacking/being violent in the first place, Raph is mad at Simeon for failing to restrain Luke, and Simeon is like is now really the time for this because hello Luke is hurt.
Angels are made of strong stuff, he's not gonna die but he'll be in a bad spot if they don't get him to an angel who specializes in healing. I've elected this to be Uriel for now although I've been told that Raphael is generally percieved as the angel of healing--but with OM canon his reputation sonfar is so hostile I'm gonna say that may not be the case. Michael (or Raph) can stave things off for a bit but he's not healing specialized either--they're all Archangels and Seraphs but their fields are elsewhere, mostly combat.
(Luke tries to assure that he's fine and attempts to remove the spear. They don't allow this because the spear is, of course, keeping most of his blood in at the moment.)
They can't fly him to someone because it'd be bumpier so they have to carry him or call/run/send for help--so other angels do learn what's going on and speculation begins. Luke is hospitalized and Raph and Michael and Simeon stay with him while he sleeps, kinda tensely, not really ready to talk out whatever happened. But before he passed out Luke tried to tell Raphael not to fight/kill Michael, to talk to him instead. He wanted to tell him to talk to the demons/humans too, they're not as bad as they think(he and Raph are very likeminded so he thinks 'maybe Raphael will listen to me since I'm starting to see that I was a little wrong maybe') but he couldn't get it out.
Simeon messages the demons, Solomon, and MC and says he won't be returning to the human world/devildom for a bit because Luke was hurt in the CR. Mammon, having had recently gotten attached to Luke, is stunned and angry and anxious and wants to know what happened. Simeon isn't ready to tell them yet, and Mammon demands Barb make a portal to the CR for him to check on Luke--surely Barb is also worried because he cares for Luke too!
Diavolo says they're not allowed to go and Barb agrees(he felt as much before Diavolo said anything too.) Simeon agrees because there's some unrest now and speculation and with an exchange student angel having had been injured by a notoriously demon-skeptical Archangel some angels are worried the demons may be involved in this somehow and if demons suddenly showed up it'd make things worse. Mammon curses his helplessness because his new little brother minion is hurt and he can't even check on him. Simeon feels helpless too--he's an archangel, a Seraph, but he can't help Luke either.
I imagine MC then offers to visit instead--they may be a powerful sorcerer now but they're still just a sheep human with an inhuman aura right? They wouldn't be as concerning for the general populace. After some consideration the demons and Solomon agree this would be okay, as does Michael and Simeon [and Raph maybe] but they say to wait a few hours/a day or two before doing so, just to allow some cooldown/recovery in the CR.
(In the meantime Mammon reviews one of Luke's recent text chains to him where he's baking something. He tries to copy all the steps and instructions and clumsily makes some cupcakes. They're ugly and Mammon isn't known for his stellar cooking, but they kinda relieve him a bit and Beel says they taste alright, so Mammon asks MC to bring them to the CR for Luke for him--there's enough for Michael too since he's probably going through a hard time. It's not like he cares or anything!! He's just building up credit! They'll owe him with interest when this is all said and done!!!)
Idk what'd happen afterwards--it's probably the first time MC meets Raph so it's not under the best circumstances and he definitely wouldn't trust sweets from a demon. And even if he was gonna fight/kill Michael he doesn't trust that Mammon would give him anything safe and instinctively would tell Michael not to touch them, let alone Luke if he's awake to do so. So it's not like he hates Michael, he just. Things need to change and he tried to incite it the only way he knows how--or, rather, the most effective way, given how quickly things changed after the Rebellion. A spear to the throat makes anyone listen. A rebellion is what made Michael change, so maybe it will help him go back to normal too.
(Maybe Luke is awake enough to hear them talking about these things and weakly asks if Raph is going to be exciled over this--the first thing he says since passing out. They're surprised because. He got injured trying to protect Michael but he's still trying to protect Raphael, Michael's assailant? But Luke understands how Raphael feels because he feels the exact same way--or he used to. He didn't trust demons or humans or sorcerers or the exchange program, he didn't think they should get along at all. And he saw how sad Michael was without the brothers and hated them for that too--and Raph feels the same way, right?
Angels are all family. Raphael, Michael, Luke, Simeon, even when they disagree, when their views don't align due to time and perspectives and experiences and ages and positions, they're all brothers. And Lucifer and them were their family too. Even if they disliked them or how they behaved, even if they resent their rebellion and its effects they were still family and they loved and cared about them.
And Raphael doesn't want to see Michael hurting anymore either--certainly not over people who don't care anymore, certainly not over people who turned on them and Father, who must hate them as well. . .but he's been with the brothers for over a year now. Maybe two or three at this point. And he may have only learned it recently but. . .they haven't forgotten. They probably don't hate them. And the demons, the humans, even those unfaithful and the practitioners of dark magic, the fallen, they're not as bad as they thought. They're not necessarily their enemies. Raphael doesn't know it like Luke does because he's never left the CR aside for war and maybe visiting the human world briefly too, right? But if he'd consider things differently, if he's allowed a chance to learn, Luke himself promises Michael, promises Father who's surely watching as he always is, that he'll understand. Raph made a rash decision albeit after many many years of consideration-- but it was out of ignorance, so please forgive him and give him another chance and don't excile him? On top of that he needs a chance to learn and do better--imagine how he'd feel, being turned into something he hates or fears? It will help him learn, sure, but it also may only make him feel worse or make him do something more rash or result in another Fall if he has supporters.
Raphael doesn't hate Michael--he just wants things to be different. Perhaps to go back to normal. And he doesn't want Michael to mope over the loss of the seven brothers and Lilith anymore either.
And maybe in this time, since they'd have to decide what to do about Raph, Michael requested Diavolo come over too--y'know, in case Raph is exciled, they'd want Diavolo's approval and reassurance to keep an eye on him too. So maybe he or Barb, as they arrive in the room, would approve of Luke's appeal--ask what Michael and Simeon And Raph and MC think. They could always bring him in as an exchange student too! 馃槝 That worked for Luke!
Ultimately Raph probably wouldn't be exciled/become a Fallen but be given another chance. Maybe he's stripped of his title temporarily, until he's sufficiently deemed to learn about demons, angels, their history together, culture, whether or not they can get along, etc--so he's bitter, but thankful. And Michael understands that perhaps he's been allowing how much he misses the brothers and Lilith to cloud him and maybe it's time to move on and make changes to the Celestial Realm again after all this time. Bonus points if the bros came along and he was too distracted to sense them--someone's like "oh you're moving on? So we came here for no reason after all?" and ofc he's happy to see them again and gets to hang out with them again for a while before getting to say a goodbye with more closure. And he hangs off of Lucifer's neck the whole time they're there lol he and Dia bond over being Lucifer fanboys too.
Luke's okay in the end--a little worse for wear because being stabbed by Raphael is Not A Small Ordeal but he's okay and he shows a little more maturity. But he's also still same old Luke who will happily point out how awful demons are and use it as an excuse for distrust/fear--but he's more mindful of it now because he feels like he needs to set a good example for Raph lmao.)

Whenever Levi gets a partner or someone he's interested in, his brothers like hitting on them, associating with them, interacting with them just a little too close. Invite them places, compliment them. Trigger his jealousy.
Both because it's fun/funny and demons are selfish by nature so they aren't too bothered if they respond(although if they're already together they tend to get annoyed for Levi and make sure he knows in case that wasn't a preapproved arragement) and because
Him getting jealous can make him stand up for himself a bit more sometimes. Express himself and concerns he has more clearly. "Prove" himself to them, if only for himself, show a side of himself he probably doesn't show them.
They have a lot of fun doing it and seeing him respond one way or another. There's some pride too, seeing him control or work through his jealousy--and for some of them in seeing him snap over it lol

Favorite oc pairing for Levi will always be Levi x normie.
Some pretty normie femme, the kind who'd go to parties, doesn't know anything about nerd culture let alone otaku culture, fashionable, Asmo's best friend, maybe bond over clothes or good music? A jock type masc, probably wrestles with Beel if he's tired and can go easy on them, loves sports and idk cars and action movies, drinking with guy friends, would probably bully him in a high school au, maybe bonds with him closely over games at best?
Just anyone extroverted and uninterested in nerd culture, nothing like him, their friend group(and they have plenty of friends) think he's weird or gross? But them? They love him even if they don't always get what he's saying all the time, they're exactly the kind of person he described in those early chats about type, someone who enjoys his presence even if they're not doing the same thing, they sit back to back in his room doing their own things but being together, maybe they don't get everything they share with each other but their enthusiasm really does it for them and they're so happy to be around each other, one date caters to his interests the next to theirs, back and forth.
Just. Normies and Levi work so well to me. The balance works so well to me.

(OBEY ME! CHAPTER 27-19 SPOILERS)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some Angel Mammon and Lucifer backstory! I guess they weren't really brothers from the start at all, but Lucifer was the only one who could tame Mammon(possibly because he was determined to because of his own adoration for the little guy), so Lucifer's the only Archangel who could have his respect. So eventually Mammon came into Lucifer's care and the rest is history, huh.
"Love Veiled In Hostility" is an accurate chapter set name with those two in mind lol
I'm imagining tiny angel Mammon going up to Lucifer and agitatedly kicking him in the (armored) shins, punching him, etc every time he wants something because he's a brat and Lucifer just swats him and scolds him but gives him what he wants when he feels he's cooperated enough for it. (And if he hit him too much, he also gets booboo kisses.) And once Mammon gets what he wants he acts like he won and like he tricked Lucifer somehow and runs away cackling and calling him a sucker lolol
Can't help but wonder what he did that got Mammon to listen to him tho lol. . .also knowing Mammon was always a little shit who didn't listen is good. Lucifer probably taught him that doing what he needs to and respecting the authorities of the Archangels and their father doesn't mean he has to give up being who he is and his own interests. He doesn't have to be a goodie-two-shoes like all the other angels his age seem to be. There's a balance and he should try and strike it--Michael always told him to be like the others, compared him to the rest. . .rather than sayjng 'be the best you' he said 'be someone else' and that didn't vibe with Mammon. But Lucifer got it. Even if he scolds him for being who he is, acts like he hates the way he is, if Mammon stopped being Mammon for too long he'd probably hate it. And in turn, Mammon told Lucifer to stay himself after The Fall too--not to regret what they did because none of them regretted following him. I think that was The Rulebook devilgram, i don't actually have it myself lol but. Maybe their lessons to each other were circular like that.

Naughty angels get Repression Bangles so they're forced to learn to behave like good children, pure of thought and righteous of action
That's why Mammon preferred Lucifer's methods when he was punished as a young angel. Because Lucifer didn't like the bangles even as an Archangel and punished him for his behavior rather than trying to force him to be someone else with a behavior alteration device

Simeon: Sex is something god intended, little lamb. "Be fruitful and multiply," as they say.
MC: But. . .doesn't the bible forbid extramarital sex?
Simeon, laughing and patting them on the head: Most religious texts are written by humans and influenced by the cultures of the time. The human body was designed with pleasure in mind for certain activities, albeit to encourage reproduction, which is greatly preferred, but if one's body is a temple for our father then ensuring that temple is pleasured and satisfied is ideal, isn't it? There's nothing wrong with loving your body and having it loved, my little lamb.
Luke: S I M E O N!!!
Simeon, also patting Luke, laughing: Please excuse my friend, he's Catholic.

Mammon is essentially the family buttmonkey. He's the one everyone takes everything out on, he's the first one to be considered guilty in a problematic situation--and, yeah, that's because he has a history of trouble and they have reason to expect bad behavior of him but. Nobody gets mocked, pushed around, or yelled at like Mammon does.
And to be perfectly honest?
I don't think he hates it.
Looking past his noted tendencies towards masochism, he is the Avatar of Greed. His function as an entity is to want. Greed is associated with money and valuables, but I don't think Mammon only wants material things.
His brothers push him around but he's second only to Lucifer in strength. He could easily shut them down if he really wanted to. But he doesn't mind them mistreating him as much as he acts. He wants their attention. The opposite of love isn't hate, but indifference, and if they dislike him, torment him, they're still thinking of him, they still feel something for him, and for now he'll accept that.
For now, from his brothers, he'll accept attention as affection, even if that attention is bad or painful.
If Lucifer didn't care about him, he wouldn't torture him over bad grades. Satan wouldn't try and keep him from getting held back in school or go on an adventure with him to steal artifacts from Diavolo's castle. And so on. He sees those little things in their actions and intentions--and also just subtly takes their abuse in stride.
And you? You were assigned to Mammon from the very start. You were handed to Mammon and he was told "this is your responsibility now."
So to him? You're his. You were given to him, you made a pact with him first, he's by your side nearly anytime something goes down.
You have something, you and him. In Mammon's eyes there is something between you that goes beyond a pact or valued possession.
And when his brothers start to take notice of you, it scares him. When they try and interfere with what he percieves you as having with him, it scares him.
Money can be spent and lost, but he can always get more money. Objects can lose value, go missing, be broken, be sold, but objects can be replaced.
You, however, are a conscious thing. You have feelings and a mind of your own, you are beyond his control.
If you decide you don't wanna be near him anymore, if you decide to choose someone else over him, if you're given away or harmed and taken away or otherwise lost or leave his possession, there's probably not going to be a buying you back. There's probably not going to be a replacing you.
Even worse, especially if it's one of his brothers, he'll have to see you being paraded about and rubbed in his face all the time and know he lost you. He may not understand monogamy well himself but he does know it's common with humans.
He can gamble money away, sell off things he owns, sell off the things others own, he can mug and steal and make and win bets, but you and things that are yours, those are his most valuable possessions. You and what is yours are his most precious things.
He's not going to relinquish his hold on you or what you have anytime soon, not if he can help it. You are too valuable. You mean too much--not just to others, but to him most of all.
. . .this is rewritten from a discord reply in a server i'm no longer part of, so it's disjointed as all hell but what I'm getting at is that Mammon's greed comes in forms beyond material. Sometimes those forms are unexpected--sometimes what he'll take and be greedy over is unexpectedand isn't always something good by traditional means. Of the seven rulers of the Devildom, of his brothers, he is the second strongest--faster, physically stronger(Beel notwithstanding), more demonically capable than all of them but Lucifer. He's the Avatar of Greed itself and he "governs all forms of it."
And it hurts. It's an endless cycle of want and risk to get what he wants, to get more by most any means necessary, but he can't stop. He can't get rid of that greed because it really is who he is now.
Despite all he has and is and can obtain he'll forever be insatiable. He'd be lost if he wasn't.

Honestly whenever I see people being like "i can't trust diavolo he's CLEARLY EVIL AND MANIPULATIVE because he's a DEMON LORD and he MANIPULATED LUCIFER and HIS KINDNESS IS FAKE" i just think
Of how Lucifer thought some of the exact same things when he was an angel and first met Diavolo
Because he'd been taught that demons were creatures of conflict and they liked fighting with the angels, when Diavolo told him that RAD was a school he thought it was stupid--what do demons learn? Why would demons want to learn anything? Why would you want an orderly society if you're a demon?
He wanted to expose Diavolo for being evil and was rude to him but he and Barbatos were nothing but kind to him, Diavolo even saw past his rudeness and saw him as someone who was understanding and accepting despite being taught to hate demons, and he couldn't understand it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All that before he even knew he was the Demon Prince. Just thought he was some smiley jackass with a butler who was dragging him around this strange campus full of uniformed demons lol
Tumblr media
But in the end, he understands Diavolo a bit more and comes to trust him. He doesn't believe a word he says, let alone about the balance between the three worlds or his belief in and the importance of equilibrium. But then he proves that by beating him in chess. . .while simultaniously allowing Lucifer to feel convinced he was winning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
. . .Lucifer already tested him long before he fell, when he would have had been most wary of him. I don't think he would have trusted him with Lilith and to keep his word if he hadn't already come to understand that Diavolo was being honest when he said he doesn't lie and doesn't allow himself to break that rule of never lying and that he doesn't seek conquest or victory.
I just. . .The Glory Days is a great Devilgram. There are like ten things from it I wanna post about lol i think i had a point at the beginning of this post but i lost track of it so just take this vomit of words and screenshots

So in Lucifer's room, over his (frankly massive, big enough to fit him and all his brothers) bed is a big painting!
Tumblr media
It's a bit distorted, but you can actually find out just what that painting is! As it happens it's a work by Simon Bisley, of the fall of Lucifer.
Tumblr media
Of course, one might think, why in the Devildom would Lucifer want a painting of himself being kicked out his home, but, well, I imagine he must be proud of his rebellion even though he failed. In a sense he gained the freedom that he perhaps wanted. Mostly, anyway. With some complications.
Of course, I'd also like to point out the cropping of this particular painting--it's cropped only to Lucifer and the demon catching him as he falls--in an Obey Me! lore sense, that'd be Diavolo.
Which means Lucifer and/or Diavolo decided to put what is essentially a painting of Diavolo accepting him into the devildom and taking him in in his room, over his bed. This is either,
A) a cute romantic gesture to the effect of a couple taking a photo in front of their new house
Or, B) A reminder of his sworn loyalty.
So something to the effect of

Diavolo was in love with Lucifer on sight lbr.
And personally? I don't even think he saw his face and he already thought this shooting star that had landed before him was the most beautiful entity in the three worlds--hell, any world that could be out there.
Lucifer was a serpahim--Luke confirms that he had three pairs of wings--and Seraphim use the top pair of wings to cover their faces. This is never actually explained--there's a passage earlier in the bible that says that no one can see the face of god(and a human that does would die), so it's probably that, but I was always under the influence that it was to protect their senses from the corrupting influence of the sinful world, see-hear-speak no evil style.
Anyway when Lucifer touches down on the Devildom, his face is covered by his topmost pair of wings as per usual when he leaves home. Diavolo, despite this, finds this angel more beautiful than anything he's ever seen. He stares in admiration, much to Lucifer's disgust. He introduces himself, and Lucifer refuses to shake his offered hand with disgust.
"I hold no desire to touch a demon. Verbal greetings were more than sufficient."
"Then may I take your hand to lead you to our destination?"
Diavolo just keeps hovering around him and trying to touch him and hanging on his every word. "Why are your wings in front of your face? Isn't it hard to see? Won't you move them? You're so breathtaking already, I can't imagine how beautiful your face must be--"
"Diavolo, correct?"
"!!! Yes! You said my name!!"
". . .How fortunate for you. This isn't a social visit. I'm not here to befriend you. I don't trust you or your kind or your world. My face is covered for my protection from your sinful influences. I'm able to see just fine."
"Mmm, I see. But this is a business visit, is it not? I assure you, harm is the last thing I want to befall you while you're in my care, Lucifer. Rest assured the Devildom will not harm you in your current state, nor will any of its residents. Your radiance is offputting for the lower demons anyway. As I'm sure you can see, it's quite dark here, so few of my people are accustomed to such a great degree of natural light exposure, and certainly not of the heavenly variety. Will you uncover your face, then? As a show of good faith."
Lucifer walks beside him in silence, clearly uninhibited by his bright, glowing feathers. "And you?"
"I won't hurt you either!" Diavolo reassured brightly. "Unless. . .you'd like me to?"
"It would certainly be an excuse to go home more quickly." He ignored the innuendo with a cringe, to the best of his ability. Demons were certainly disgusting creatures--and the Demon Prince dared to laugh at his comment! However, Lucifer sighed and gave in, shutting his eyes and taking a last deep breath filtered by his wings before slowly removing them from his face to stay raised behind him as if ready to help him take flight at any moment.
And then they stopped walking, Diavolo staring at him, mouth agape. Despite the light, his pupils dilated, as if he wanted to take in as much of Lucifer as he physically could. The stunned silence put Lucifer on edge, his feathers fluffing up in a stressed manner. "Oi. . . ."
"Why ever would you hide a face like this." Diavolo asked, voice hushed, gaze locked down on Lucifer. The angel's wings rose in alarm when the larger demon took half a step towards him, and didn't lower even when he backpedaled as if intimidated by the gesture. "You're simply. . .no. There's nothing simple I can say to accurately describe--w-wait! Hold on, don't hide again!! Oh, please come back out!"
Lucifer tightened his wings over his face as if Diavolo would try and pry them apart to see him again--fortunately, he kept himself from doing so and dirtying him with his surely corruptive touch. Truthfully, the sweet words flattered him, and he hoped the demon prince didn't have sensitive hearing to hear his heart fluttering in his chest. Not that he wasn't called beautiful by all of the heavens, of course, but. . .well, he felt himself beginning to blush and didn't want that weakness to be seen. "Then silence yourself, demon! I don't want to hear any more from you--I will not be lured in by the poison from your tongue!"
"I'm not trying to tempt you. . . . I truly just think you're attractive. . . ." Diavolo pat his bare chest, as if to calm his own heart down, the gold decorating him jangling some at the contact. "But you're right. I apologize for my eagerness. It was very unprofessional of me."
Lucifer peeked out from behind his wings to observe Diavolo's slightly bowed head with his true eyes. When he lifted it and they made eye contact, he slid his wings away from his face again, no sign of the embarrassment he'd hidden so quickly.
"As long as you understand that." Though, based on the look in his eye, the way he leaned in a little when he spoke, his eyes taking in his every feature, every move, he had the strongest feeling that this wasn't the end of his eager advances. "I'd like to conclude this meeting as quickly as possible."
"Of course. Let's get to our destination quickly then." He smiled at Lucifer, who didn't return the gesture, and began to walk towards the Academy more purposefully. "That being said. . .,"
Diavolo looked over his shoulder at Lucifer, his smile again amicable and friendly. And Lucifer, against his better judgement, was starting to think that this demon may just be kind if that was possible. "I do hope we can improve the relations between our worlds, Lucifer. I hope this is the beginning of a bright future."
And that was the day Diavolo fell in love with Lucifer--and hit the deck when he saw his face.
(And, boy, when he took off the armor of light and went into human form with his wings hidden and was no longer literally radiant aside from the halo only demons could see and there was even less light in the way. . .father help him, he knew he had to see him again. He shoved his face right into Barbatos's shoulder and told him all about how he fell in love that day and how he knew life would never be the same with that angel having had been in it for less than a day. And Barbatos just smiled and pat his back. Teenagers, man.)

So let's say that this
Tumblr media
(Task: 8-A)
Means that Lilith's human was this little man here.
Tumblr media
(unrelated. . .he doesn't have shines in his eyes. . .ever notice that?)
Now consider if you will that they got married or made similar vows, the Angel Lilith and the human Barbatos. And consider that angels can also make pacts(aside from Guardianship ones, pacts like demons make. Whether or not it's allowed may depend on your religious source material.)
Now with Lilith's soul hanging around MC and MC also having their genetic memory. . . .
And Barbatos now being a demon. . . .
Consider
A: MC has a pact eith Barbatos by way of Lilith's soul being close to/guarding theirs, forcing Barbatos to obey them,
Or, the somewhat more frightful option, B:
Barbatos has a pact with MC by way of having a pact with Lilith, forcing MC to obey him.
"Now, my beloved and I, we'd come to an agreement, not unlike marriage as you've come to know it. Of course, I had no idea at the time of what she was, and without knowing what the 'pact' we'd made could do, I couldn't control her. Now, you are not her. . .but her soul, her memory does lie with you. . .do you understand my train of thought? Do you understand what I expect of you? Well, human. . ."
(Lilith prays? Pleads? He can't hear her, you probably can't hear her, but she begs. Please, Barbatos. You're a good man, I know you are--you know this isn't what I'd want, you know this isn't right. . .you're a demon now but please. . .don't do something you'll regret. . . .)
Tumblr media
"Would you pour us some tea? I think it would do if we both relaxed a little. These are rather stressful thoughts, after all."
(Truly, she's happy he hasn't changed a bit. 馃)
Sometimes he looks at you and he sees you. A human, a special, perhaps powerful human. Perhaps an attractive human that he loves or that loves him or even both if you'd like that thought. Sometimes he sees Lilith--her host, her descendent, you look nothing like her but he can feel her on you, knows if he touches or approaches you the wrong way you'll feel one of her memories intrude upon yours, some part of her soul, her genetic memory is within you. If she were stronger, had they gotten to her sooner, she may even be able to control you in short bursts--but for now she protects you.
Sometimes he sees Lilith's deacendent, and he sees in you the child he and his love never got to have. Or perhaps the child she got to have, but by virtue of being hers you are his as well. Distant, but his.
He's fortunate to be from older times and to be a demon--he's not plagued or concerned with the intermingling of those images.
He just knows you make him happy. And having you near is as close to the life with her he's wanted as he's gotten thus far. It's different, far from the same, not a replacement or substitute or anything of the sort but you being part of his life brings him a joy he hasn't felt in any timeline thus far.
(And Lilith, too, is happy and thankful. So please keep looking after Barbatos for her.)

Levi wasn't bothered by associating with humans despite his anxiety the same way humans aren't anxious about socializing with animals even when they have anxiety, albeit more condescending.
Humans are demon food. They're like insects to a demon. "Goldfish" if you've read that one Voltage story whose name escapes me-- So he wasn't nervous about talking to them or socializing with them or manipulating them the way he'd be nervous associating with other demons or angels because they're just. Lesser beings.
Becoming close to mc taught them all to think differently of humans--which is a double-edged sword really because now humans make Levi anxious too.
(to think humans were people all this time. . .!!! Do you know how many humans he must've made a fool of himself in front of!? Embarrassing!!! He's never leaving his room again!!! The retroactive humiliation is gonna take at least a thousand years to overcome!!!!!!)

Diavolo is largely a dominating guy--he's going to be king of the Devildom soon and he's not to be disobeyed or denied. He's very much a top and happy with controlling the movements and behavior of his partners and playthings in bed. Though in more intimate sex he, as is his goal in life, maintains much more equilibrium with his partners, in casual sex he'll always take the lead.
However, he does submit sometimes. He does bottom sometimes. Sometimes it's a control-wrestling matter, but oftentimes it's simply. . .a mood. And he only trusts two people with that mood, and only two people know the bratty sub side of the prince--Lucifer and Barbatos.
They, after all, put up with the most of his shit day to day. And while they generally grin and bear it sometimes enough is enough and the spoiled brat prince needs to be punished or put in his place.
And when it's them, he trusts them. He doesn't mind it at all--will probably goad them into it with extra stubborn brattiness, extra misbehavior and demands and whining when he sees they need an outlet. He'll put up a little fight in terms of being in control but generally will stick to making fucking him difficult and whining and fussing to encourage their punishment and discipline.
He knows he's a handful (in more ways than one) but that's exactly why he's happy to let them push and pull and scold and strike him when they need to.
The look on Lucifer's face when he'd like to tell Diavolo to shut up, that he's on thin ice, he's pushing it, when he'd love to resolve his problems with him the same way he does with his brothers, it's just. /Chef's kiss) so handsome he can't help but want to be on the receiving end of any punishment he has in mind(well, as long as it's fun.)
And Barbatos may not change his expression much but Diavolo knows him very well and can tell when he feels something, can see every subtle change in his behavior and actions, hear the tiny tonal change that signals how much he'd love to be sarcastic and exasperated right now. And he lives for his subtle changes and he wants him to crack, he wants him to talk down to him like he's the stubborn child he used to be, talk to him like he's anyone else making a mockery of Diavolo or the castle and show him why people whisper rumors about what he keeps under the castle(which may or may not be true.)
Just. . .brat prince diavolo. Bratty sub diavolo, when he's ordinarily so in control or so about keeping the balance.
(maybe someday he'll trust mc with that side of him, too. But not today.)

So the chat about Diavolo and Lucifer arguing got me thinking.
And, with some help from my friends I can say this:
I have found only one instance in which Diavolo ever apologizes. (In English anyway. I haven't checked Japanese because I don't know every term for apologies and I'm pretty sure there's more than the common two.)
When he texts Lucifer about his earlier outburst over punishing Mammon he says he feels terrible. . .but doesn't say sorry.
Tumblr media
To be fair it may simply be because he's done few things that would warrant an apology but.
Diavolo doesn't seem to have ever had expressed regret for doing or saying something. Every other character has said sorry at some point that I recall. But never Diavolo.
To be fair, he's demonic royalty. He was likely raised to never believe he was wrong, so even feeling bad for his behavior is likely something he had to learn to do over time. And Lucifer being his yes-man doesn't help matters. But admitting he was wrong and expressing regret?
I wonder if he knows how to do that?
I wonder if Diavolo really knows how to say "I'm sorry". Because unless something was simply an accident, he seems to not feel any regrets--and as he said he doesn't lie, he wouldn't say sorry for the sake of platitudes. Perhaps it's simply that he owns his actions and won't take them back, knowing it's useless to try and do so when it's already happened. Or maybe he truly believes everything he does or says is justified, even when it hurts or upsets someone else--whether because he's the Demon Prince or otherwise.
. . .well, like I said, we've had very few instances in which he's done something I imagine he would feel regret for. Perhaps it's simply a matter of time. Although I like the idea that, in the future, he'll endanger MC and express that he felt bad, he would do his best not to do it again, he wants their forgiveness. . .but someone points out that he never actually says sorry. And he has to learn to do so, to be wrong and to regret.
(By the way, the one time he said he was sorry? In the first text he sends you, after sending the wrong sticker--so a minor accident.)

So Levi's horns look more like antlers. . . .
Imagine the first time they shed lmao
Levi's minding his own business, puts on his headphones or dancing or playing a horror game or something. Maybe moves a little too sharply/hard/puts his headphones on roughly and they just
Pop right out onto his floor
And he starts screaming in shock because he must be sick or something
Lucifer runs in after Mammon runs in first and also starts screaming like why do you sound like a banshEE WHY ARE YOUR HORNS ON THE FLOOR
The House of Lamentation in utter chaos and turmoil because they're all very new to this they know feathery wings shed but they didn't think horns did Levi must be dying what did he do to deserve this is it contagious are they all gonna die like this are the horns on the floor as delicious as they look Beel doesn't even know because he's too busy being worried about his big brother
Finally Lucifer calls Diavolo and he and Barbatos are just
Pls c a l m d o w n lmao
Once Levi learns yes that's normal for horns like yours they'll grow back he's sulking and grumbling bevause of course he got the horns that fall off and he doesn't have wings either and nobody else's fall of they have real horns and it's not fair and asmo stop fingering the holes in my scalp where my horns are supposed to be and ugh it hurts when they grow back and this is n o t f a i r

Satan means 'accuser' or 'adversary'--so Lucifer may have named him such because he started to really stand out as a part of himself when he started to consider his father was mistreating them/thinking of rebellion--so he really started to notice Satan when they were making an enemy of their dad
But also consider
Lucifer and Satan looking at each other after Satan spawns from him and Lucifer is in pain from chopping his wings off and shocked and confused and yet kind of knows what he's looking at but can't help but ask,
"Who are you?"
And Satan is getting his bearings bevause he's never had his own body before--he's moved through Lucifer when Lucifer flew into a rage before but it was never his body so to speak. But he hears him ask that and thinks it's kinda funny--he can't recognize a part of himself.
"You don't recognize me?" Satan asks in Hebrew, the ability to speak Angelic not transferring over to his demon form though he could understand Lucifer's shocked spoken thoughts. Finally, a glare through glowing green eyes, Satan finally looks up at him, glaring, and answers,
"I'm your s膩t膩n."
His adversary--his enemy.
Because Satan felt nothing but rage and hatred he couldn't think of anything else that Lucifer could be to him if they were no longer one. Lucifer was an other and so he was another enemy like everybody else was to him.
And it just. . .stuck. He just didn't think to call him anything else but "enemy." (To be fair, it was probably hard to when Satan followed it up with leaping at him all claws and teeth and rage to tear him apart because he was Wrath Itself and nothing else at that point--and Lucifer intended to fly away before remembering he chopped his own wings off, making the resulting fight especially painful and difficult before someone intervened--whether by his brothers or Diavolo or Diavolo's father depending on when and where you believe Satan was born.)
(Of course when they prepared to smite this hostile beast he told them not to--because "that's Satan. . . ." at which point he passed out and wasn't available to further answer who or what exactly "Satan" was right away. Him passing out may have also properly severed what was left of the connection between him and the newborn Satan, causing a sudden drain in Satan's energy and stability which had ridden on Lucifer at that point and knocking him out too, making wrangling him easier and reverting him to his "true", fleshy form(may or may not be a baby or small child) as opposed to a fiery unicorn monster--that or they still had to fight Satan and protect Lucifer who was bleeding out all over the floor to get him into a manageable state. Imagine what you will.)
(In the end Satan was kept alive and Lucifer had a fatherly-brotherly attachment to him--thus beginning the raising of Satan into a Person and not Rage Personified.)
