Ian had shown Daniel some of his demos over the summer, and that had gone okay.  Great, even.  Unfortunately, they were songs that upon further listening, Ian was supremely unhappy with: had scrapped, rewritten,  spent hours re-recording vocals and instrumentals, and now, months and months later, he was at a spot he could be semi-happy with the demos, and could potentially show them to Theo and Skylar to provide their own respective vocals and bass.  This was why he’d never finished an album before--only occasionally provided instrumentals on tracks over the years.  He was too nit-picky when it came to his music.

But first, he wanted Daniel’s opinion on them.  Because.  And Ian really hoped he wasn’t cutting in on Daniel being with Ryder instead when sending him a message, asking if he wanted to meet after dinner to listen to music in one of the meeting rooms.  Truthfully, he hadn’t been inviting Daniel to hang out much in the past few months, for fear of the same thing: interfering on time that he could be spending with someone he preferred.  But Ian had their laptop and some headphones set up anyway, and gave a quick wave to their friend as he came in.  “Hey, how are you feeling and also doing, Daniel?”  Ian asked, gesturing to the seat next to him to sit.

growing up, preston always had one role. he was the big brother, he was the one that looked out over his younger siblings while his parents were working long hours. he was always watching over his two younger siblings being a parental figure to them. he was always so supportive and always felt like he was very committed to his family, repressing who he was.

once he entered high school, he realized that he had many talents and many different interest. he loved music. he was big on music. he loved music growing up, playing guitar and piano. and that interest continued in high school, and he picked up singing. that was when his music teacher told him that he should apply to music schools. but he never found it practical.

but when he started to create content and posting it alone, that's when he was discovered. an little canadian with a voice of an angel. the amount of views he'd get, people started to find him more and more that eventually a manager for a music label found him and he signed with the record label.

this was a huge surprise for his family. but they were very proud of whatever preston did. so he had his first ep at 17, which debuted number 5 on billboard. it was an accomplishment. but he felt like it was a one and done. he wanted to finish his senior year of high school, and then college was around the corner too. but that didn't stop him from posting covers, and going to different events to perform his ep.

once he was in college, that was when he knew that music really was something he wanted to do. so his sophomore year, he ended up writing another album, cranking it out and eventually releasing it. it ended up debuting number one on billboard 100. it was such a success, he was in the eyes of taylor swift, in which preston had become her opener for her 1989 tour.

preston's next album was when he found pure success. girls loved him, men wanted to be him. and it was nonstop recording and planning for future music and albums, he was loving it. but he was missing a lot of things, his family, his friends, and he started to see himself change and mold into what the record label wanted him to be.

hiding his sexuality was something he had done for a long time, but now the label wanted him to perceive himself as the bachelor boy, someone that everyone wanted to be with but couldn't have. he wasn't sure if he would outlast that, but he was in his twenties, and he was having fun. and his self titled album, preston campbell, had found even more success than the last albums. so he didn't stop.

but now, preston was thirty, in the middle of writing his latest album, recording new songs, and now there was a guy that he had eyes for that has changed everything about him. one of the songs being written about himself, his identity, but also for the guy that he was falling for every day. as terrified as he is to be his most truest and authentic self, he is willing to risk the backlash from his fans and his label if he decided to fully come out and choose the guy he wants to end up being with.

“Stay for dinner.”

It is a request, but not a question. Made without eye contact, Saul’s tone tinged with despair as he speaks, gently, to the strands of fluffy, rich dough under his hands. Slow but dexterous, he braids the eight strings together into an intricate, handsome challah. To his right, his glass of cabernet sauvignon, thrice drained already, is marred with floury fingerprints. The kitchen, its banana-cream-colored cabinets unchanged since their initial installment in the 1950s, potted plants erected in its every corner, on every available surface, ivy climbing along the windowsill, is laden with the scent of the brisket baking in the oven.

“Please.”

That, however, is a plea. Looking over his shoulder and nudging his glasses up his nose with the knuckle of his index finger, the look which he grants Daniel is one of silent alarm. Or wariness, or fatigue, or resentment, or resolution. A man bracing himself in the face of imminent disaster.

“Jesse’s mother is coming by,” is all he can bring himself to admit, the remainder of the sentence hanging heavily between them, unspoken. Daniel’s presence is akin a rock at the bottom of a raging sea; calm, unmoving, impervious. Saul could use the reinforcement.

Another suit in the desert, it was a humorous image in Kiara’s mind. Yet another –probably political– lackey the museum decided to send to see if her dig was still worthy of more funding. How was someone who dealt in anything but archaeology supposed to know what was deemed important enough to continue excavating. She had her pitch ready, of course, she’d rehearsed it over a dozen times at least in preparation for the number of people the museum would send to her. “Before now we fully believed that the followers of Set were forced into the desert and died out, but this dig has recently uncovered evidence in artifacts that could prove that the Cult of Set actually lasted for hundreds, possibly thousands of years longer than we thought.” She rehearsed in her head, gently brushing the sand off of a small shard of pottery.

“Dr. Fehr!” One of her team members called out, walking over to her, leading someone Kiara couldn’t quite make out right away. Standing up fully, she turned and was met by…the least suit looking suit she’d ever met. Dark hues took him in, briefly of course, despite the temptation to let her eyes wander longer. She still had no idea if he was going to pull the plug on her dig, and she had to remind herself of that regardless of the fact that he was the more attractive lackey she’d met. “Daniel Walden, I presume? I’m Dr. Kiara Fehr. Welcome to my dig.”

Daniel had seen horror movies like this; wayward people stumbled into abandoned buildings and see strange symbols etched into the walls or hidden away under rotting carpets. Eventually blood would drip from places that blood wasn’t supposed to drip, and they’d end up being chased out by some sort of serial killer or demonic entity.

It didn’t matter that they were both werewolves. Creepy was still creepy.

“I have no idea,” he said, shaking his head as fingers hovered (but didn’t touch) the very symbols in question. “Witchcraft of some sort. I can feel the power in the sigils, but I don’t recognize it. This is probably a job for that witch husband of yours…” Not that Daniel didn’t like him, but…

DAVE LANGER aka DAVE DU MONTE got into his first contacts with electronic music during the mid of the 80's by synthie-pop bands like Depeche Mode or Front 242 and also Kraftwerk. At this time, Techno and House were still completely unknown words for him, but it finally changed all for him at the end of the 80's when Dave heard from the first Chicago and UK Acid House heroes like Adonis and Baby Ford. His interest in Techno and House devoloped more and more in 1991 due listening to diverse Berlin radio shows, club experiences like TRESOR and - since 1993 - E-WERK, that lead him to serious record collecting in the following. 

Subsequently his DJ career started in 1994 in the German Eastside in Rostock, where he also begun his studies in construction industries. He got his first bookings in leading Clubs of Germany's North-East like MS STUBNITZ and MAU (HRO) together with the Berlin DJ-nomenclatura. This contacts brought him back to the Spree capitol, where one of the TRESOR HEADQUARTER DJs invited him to TRESOR'S "Headquarter / New Faces" event nights on regular Wednesdays. So he quickly developed a certain love for a style that was ranging between heavily grooving an minimal styles, also based on the deeper shades of Detroit's Techno blueprint and the hard and funky Chicago stuff as well. From 1998 on he became a regular player at the "Headquarter/ New Faces" nights at the Tresor basement. From 2001 till the end of the 1st Tresor phasis in early 2003 people could often hear him under his alias DAVE DuMONTE at the legendary OSTGUT CLUB parties and the HEILIGENDAMM Area. At that place a DJ and booker from Zürich (CH) took notice of Dave and invited him to the famous SPIDERGALAXY club in Zürich, where DJs used to play long running of 8 hours minimum.  After the OSTGUT CLUB's closing there was intermittently a gap in the Berlin club-landscape. A group of OstGut adherents started to organize their own interim parties at secret off-locations in the Berlin Underground, and for most of these parties Dave Du Monte was spinning at their wheelz of steel. But for professional reasons, however, Dave finally ended up in the German West where he established himself professionally till today. He became a citizen of Cologne and a resident jock as well at the town’s famous PSYCHO THRILL Techno venue to the present day. Beside this he's also running a small collectors Vinyl imprint called "DLA Schallplatten" which is still distributed by KOMPAKT.

“No,” Daniel shook his head, unable to process what Alice said as the truth. His bff was a lot of things, but an expert on men was certainly not at the top of the list. “I think he likes your butt and your fancy hair. He’s just staring at me in some weird alpha male human dominance game. I think he wants to know if we’re together or not.”  Offering the man a friendly smile and a wave, he turned back to Alice once he’d gotten the scowl he thought he would get.

“I bet if I went over there and chatted him up, it would start a bar fight. You, on the other hand, might leave here with his number.” As if the guy was even her type in the first place. He was too…backwoods hillbilly, even for a werewolf. “He looks like the kind of guy that has a brother named Bubba and a shotgun in his pick-up truck’s rear window.

Daniel stirred his drink, brought it to his lips with another quick and casual glance over his shoulder. “I bet he’s just waiting for the zombie apocalypse. You know he think’s he’ll be the founding father of some new world order. He’s looking to make you his zombie queen.” He gave her smile, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively. “You should take him up on it. You never know when we’ll need some redneck protecting us from a horde of zombies.

“Oh god.” He was so hungry. It was the day after a full moon, a day that meant his stomach was usually eating a hole in itself anyway, and here she was talking about bread riddles. All he wanted was a meatball sub and some onion rings, but Alice was hell-bent on torture. “Not a bread riddle. Do you remember the last riddle? It was corny, and it took me forever to figure out.” He shook his head, resigned to his fate of hearing yet another corny joke.

She was really lucky that he loved her like she was his own sister.

“Fine. FINE. But if I get it within five minutes this time, you’re definitely paying and I’m getting extra cheese.” He stuck his hand out to shake, prepared to seal the deal. “Got it? Let’s hear this corny bread joke now…”
