While you are totally entitled to be squicked out by how other people engage in kink, saying certain stuff "isn't kink" or "isn't leather" because you personally don't like it isn't a very informed take. Leather and kink has always included stuff that was taboo, that was part of what made it a subculture to begin with. Gay sex was taboo, playing with sadomasochism was taboo, dubious consent was taboo, these things have always been a part of kink. Already people in the notes of that post are saying "yes raceplay and incestplay is too gross to be considered kink, those and CNC, petplay, ageplay, dubcon" ect. POC engage in raceplay, people who have survived csa engage in incestplay and cnc. People have their own reasons for engaging in kink the way they do. And kink is very focused on making sure people are playing in an informed, safe, and consensual way. Any public play space I've been too has maintained the rule of "don't yuck someone else's yum", while also educating on when kink becomes abuse and what is and isn't safe behavior. It's a space where people can explore these things that are taboo or squicky in a way where they are safe and informed. Saying these things aren't kink doesn't stop people from engaging in these things, and policing what is or isn't kink goes against what kink is to begin with honestly. I recommend actually like, reading books about kink and informing yourself, I personally recommend
The Ultimate Guide to Kink by Tristan Taormino
Playing Well With Others by Lee Harrington and Mollena Williams
The New Topping/Bottoming Book by Dassie Easton and Janet W. Hardy
The Dominance Playbook by Anton Fulmen
Also like, actually talk with people who engage in kink and try to learn a bit about their perspective. You don't have to like what they do or "get it", but you also don't get to gatekeep a community you aren't even in.

Top 10 Perform Again Rankings
Overall, kind of a dull week, at least in comparison to last time around.
10. “Caroline” (Jenna/Kiki hip-hop), Luther Brown
Erm...okay. So...this was not good. A lot of people were blaming the choreography, but I don’t think that’s it. I think it was a mix of Luther not knowing exactly what would look good on these two, them not being hip-hop dancers whatsoever, and an overbearing concept. I appreciate that they both gave it their all in performance, but the dancing was questionable. They weren’t even dancing for the last 20 seconds. I couldn’t believe my ears when the judges praised this to the high heavens. (And this makes the second time Jenna has awkwardly danced a Luther routine. Please just give them Nappytabs next time.)
9. “Red and Black (Rojo y Negro)” (Gaby/Lex Argentine tango), Miriam and Leonardo
I wanted to like this more, but only half of it was good and the other half was good sometimes. It was nice to see Gaby dance ballroom since she didn’t do it her entire season, but Lex...could have used some more work. He did get it together towards the middle and the end when they did the more intricate flicks, but for the most part, he was kinda stomping and slipping around. The chemistry also wasn’t steamy enough. I don’t think it was horrible or anything, but I really need to Lex to get something he can shine in this week. I’m kind of scared for him.
8. “The Letting Go” (Paul/Sydney contemporary), Jaci Royal
I was shocked that this was Jaci Royal. The group routine she did in season 12 was one of the highlights, but this routine was pretty...generic. I thought there was a little too much standing/walking around at the beginning and end, and even though ti was supposed to be all tragic, I didn’t really feel anything at all. Of course Sydney is a pretty dancer, but there’s something in her performance that’s really missing and I kind of can’t believe the judges preferred this to Robert’s routine.
7. “Radha Nagechi” (Fik-shun/Dassy Bollywood), Nakul Dev Mahajan
I cannot stand when Nakul gives us this whole long story about the routine only for it to end up looking exactly like every other routine he’s ever choreographed. Where exactly was Dassy being all sexy or comparing her love to Hindu gods?? This is why I wish they’d ditch the story packages sometimes. But for what it was, it was good. They kept up the energy the whole way through, and outside of the botched lift, it looked like a lot of fun.
6. “The Man That Got Away” (Robert/Taylor Broadway), Al Blackstone
So was that standing ovation really necessary?? This was good and all, but I didn’t find it like...super innovative or outstanding. I might be biased because Broadway isn’t really my thing, but I generally like Al Blackstone’s choreography. I think I wanted the second half of the routine to be more dynamic or something. The music picked up, but I didn’t feel like anything happened other than the lift. I liked it, though. Robert a little more than Taylor. I really hope she’s challenged this week.
5. “Otherside” (Jasmine/Robert contemporary), Stacey Tookey
Nigel is crazy. There was plenty of emotion in this routine, thank you very much. I will say that I don’t think their chemistry was as strong as it could have been, but it wasn’t a chemistry vacuum or anything. I liked the concept since it was a little more creative than the typical broken love contemporaries we usually get, and I thought Stacey’s choreography was creative and made Robert look really good. I really thought he deserved to stay after this since it’s so far out of his style but he did it so well, and losing Jasmine this early in the competition should be illegal. I’m still salty about this.
4. “In the Morning” (Allison/Logan jazz fusion), Brian Friedman
We can always count of Brian to give us a wild jazz routine with wild outfits, lol. This took a few viewings to grow on me, but I really like it. The things Logan can do are absurd. Like that bit on the floor where he lifted one leg up while crouching and spun around? How do you even do that? I think he and Allison have fun chemistry together and it worked for this routine, though I do wonder how that’ll go when they have to be like...sexy or romantic. Logan looks so young...it might be a little awkward. But thus far, I’ve really enjoyed him and I hope he’s also challenged this week so we can see what else he can do.
3. “I’m Better” (Cyrus/Kaylee hip-hop), Pharside and Phoenix
I was SO RELIEVED when I saw Kaylee and Cyrus dressed as regular people for this routine. I was so scared when they said aliens lmao. But they really got it together from last week! Her and Cyrus’s personalities are a trip together. I like Kaylee more in hip-hop than contemporary tbh, and I think having Cyrus as a partner exacerbates that. This routine was also constructed in just the right way to make her look just as good as him. I worry for them if they get ballroom, which I have the strange feeling they will very soon, so fingers crossed they pull that off because I really like them and want them to stick around longer. (Just saying though, I would not have agreed to drag my hair on the floor. Can you imagine how much crap was in her hair afterwards?? Ew.)
2. “Speaking in Tongues II” (Marko/Koine African jazz), Sean Cheesman
As far as animalistic African jazz routines go, this is one of the better ones I’ve seen in a while from Sean. The stamina they must have needed to pull this of is crazy. How did they not get tangled up in each other during all those flips?? How do you count to this type of music? Pretty much this just seemed really difficult but they pulled it off seamlessly except for a tiny little stumble that Marco had during one of their partnering moments. Even though this was still technically in her wheelhouse, I feel like we saw a different side to Koine. Now hopefully she gets something completely different this week and slays because I love her.
I just realized that my top two dances are the same couples from last time. Whoops.

#20: “Soundclash” (Popping) - Dassy
I really like this solo, but I didn’t find it quite as magical as some people did on here. Dassy is amazing at what she does, there is no doubt about that, but I’m just not that thrilled by Popping. This isn’t to take away from her solo, though. The way Dassy controls her body is insane and deserves recognition. I love that part where she isolates her hips to move in a circle and that one guy in the audience behind just goes off with his clapping, lol.
