07 Ghost (2009) - Episode 4, Rewatch

Okay, they’re really delaying Mikage and Teito’s reunion here. Maybe it’s to increase the emotional impact? Despite him not showing up as fast, it really seems like the Teito x Mikage show whereas the manga is more interested in exploring Teito’s past. I guess they just really knew which target audience they wanted to hit.

Notes:

-Biggest change of the episode was that they swapped out Teito’s wish to see the father who raised him with Mikage. I guess that doesn’t hurt the story too much but it does kind of feel like pandering

-Lazette shows up, yay! It’s honestly always nice to see female characters in these bishounen shows. One thing that bugs me about her design though is that her top makes it look like she has a hairy chest lol

-Lazette apparently can speak through singing which is a nice touch (she was mute in the manga)

-Dat CGI for the Kor’s wings and Frau’s scythe tho lol. Why do I feel like CGI in anime has barely improved in 2020? -sigh-

-Labrador’s rose toss was so cheesy. IRL the villain could have just stamped it into the ground lol

-I feel like they didn’t really explain Lazette? They just ignore the fact that she stole Teito’s face for a second. Castor never explains that that’s a thing her species can do

-The lore where you have 3 wishes before you’re born and then spend your life figuring out those wishes is interesting. I’d kind of like to see it expanded on...
