Hey all

I'm still looking around for an long time rp partner. I do have some storylines going at the moment but I'm still kind of figuring out what I want & the more possibilities the better.

Who am I:

My name is Dorian/ Dax. My pronouns are he / him - They / Them. I'm 26 and I have been in the rp community for over 12 years. I have done both long format storylines on rpg forum boards as well as rapidfire ones on Discord and telegram. I've always played fandomless only. I'm pretty flexible when it comes to setting/ rp style.

I am in the CET timezone. My first language is Dutch so it can be that I make small grammar errors when writing in English, especially when writing multiple paragraphs. I study creative writing, so sometimes my replies are a little less frequent when the semester is particularly busy. But I love to chat ooc as well, so you can always shoot me a message and I'll make sure to reply as quickly as I can ^-^

Most of my OCs are male. I currently have three female characters that stuck around. I don't mind writing female characters, I'm just not very good at it. But who knows, improvement might be inescapable fhfgddd. All of my OCs have an overachring background lore. They are all from the same universe. The lore of that universe can be included in our storyline but it's not necessary for the storyline to function. Basically it can be used if it enriches the story, but I have no problem with dropping my guys into any story world/ AU imaginable.

What I am looking for:

I'm okay with pairings of any and all genders. Friends, enemies, lovers; all is possible as long as it's plot driven.

I am very new to the term "dead dove" and am a little hesitant to partake. Not to say that I won't write any dark themes ever, but it's not specifically what I'm looking for right now. A plot can have its dark moments, but I am not looking for a fully dark plot.

I don't really mind whether you write multiple paragraphs, do one-liners or anything in between. As long as it's well structured, has substance and engages with whatever is going on in the plot, it's great. I love complex inner monolog about what your character is thinking/ feeling. I also really love it when people put detail and thought into the surroundings that the characters are in.

What would work great for me is if you / your character loves to explain things about their homeworld. Or if you/ your character would love to learn about my homeworld.

I love the bonding between characters that formers through learning / exploring together and one of them taking the other under their wing.

Fantasy worlds tend to work best for the dynamics described above but there are _a lot_ of variations possible (think: pirates, medieval, apocalyptic, historical, steampunk, victorian ect) and especially once we know which characters make a good match we can do endless AU's with them too!

I love plotting together and talking ooc. I am so for telling each other about our silly little guys & how they are 100% not prepared for the stuff we're about to throw their way. Please tell me why they would be absolutely insufferable together or super wholesome :3 Feel free to send funny memes about our guys or pictures about our storyworlds. On the other hand I would also like to get to know you & what's going on in your life. Being both friends & rp partners would be awesome! No pressure tho, it's fully valid that not everyone is comfortable or able to open up quickly.

2 - 5 replies weekly would be great! Though I fully understand that life is very busy and this won't always be possible. Communication is key. As long as the ooc contact stays on / periods of inactivity are communicated about before (if possible) or afterwards, it's all good. Rapidfire would be very fun to do for certain storylines but I understand that it takes a lot of time. So maybe we could try and arrange that on a weekend day.

I love it when people are overall enthusiastic, come up with ideas, engage with the plot, and engage a lot ooc.

Going to answer just number 1 for now.

Some important background info: most of the OCs I write with right now don't necessarily require sleep. They make sure that the story they are in goes the way it has to go (and they are aware of being in a storyworld) and so their timing has to be extremely precise. Any daily tasks that slow this down (eating, drinking, sleeping ect) are still possible but not necessary. Most of them are either immortal or partially immortal and can travel through the time-line of the story. This being the case I can imagine that sleeping would give some very intense and hellish dreams, since their consciousness has to process a really big portion of time, events and emotions between one moment of sleep and the next.

1: For Oliver in particular, i think lot's of his dreams would take place either on his boat, on the bottom of the ocean or in the hotel he owned.

1a: Yes, particularly the hotel would have been a place where he spent a lot of time. It's basically the place where he welcomes other people's OCs (it's a place where my OCs and the OCs of anyone who wants to do a storyline together can meet and get to know each other a bit, before traveling to either of our worlds.) It's gigantic and each new room will be brought into existence with the arriving OC in mind. Lot's of space for dreams to build on.

1b: It's honestly been a while. With the newest world merge back in 2016 there was a little oopsy whoopsy in the communication- as in both of us thought we where in the world of the other. We have made another separate world that stands in between their world and my "hotel world" (so twice removed from my main world). It's still active to this day. I think Oliver went back once in 2018 to show another OC around. But that's about it.

1d: They still could now. Although I don't know for how long. It's been awhile since I last had it active. It's a case of meeting the right people at the right time. If it stays inactive for another couple of years than I will move on to other alternatives.

1e: Most of it is positive. A lot of friends are made here. And it's honestly really interesting to get to know other OCs and their backstories / the world's they come from. (But also it's really nice to just chat with people who are genuinely passionate about worldbuilding and to get to know them better too). Some of it is bittersweet though. Of course people can grow out of this hobby/work over time. Or there is some kind of fallout. Especially since I've had doing storylines as a hobby since I was like 14 or so, fallouts are kind of inevitable. Not that it has happened often but it is kind of part of the teenage experience I think. So the good times together with the bad ending all get lodged in this place. For Oliver specifically I think it's a stark 50/50: the good of getting to know new people and make new friends v/s the questioning of his own morals, since he's not a fully trustworthy host and has his own motives for inviting other OCs over.

Aaaaaaa this was such a long one. Sorry for the long post. If you have any questions/ feedback for me feel free to drop an ask in my ask box ^-^

1e. How do they feel about this place? Are their dreams surrounding it mostly positive or negative?

2. If your OCs had the option to undo a mistake or regret from their past, which would it be, and how would they handle it differently?

2a. Which OC would change nothing in their past? What leads them to feel this way?

2b. If there was a cost to this ability, what price would your OC consider too high or otherwise too egregious?

2c. If your OC successfully changes that moment in their past, how would it affect the present?

Would anyone be up for a chat about oc / rp related topics? I'm relatively new to the rp community on tumblr, there's a lot of terminology and etiquette that I still have to learn. But I would love to discover / learn about that. I just need someone who would be enthusiastic to introduce me to it. Other than that I would totally be up to chat about our ocs, just a bit of lore dump & who knows maybe it will turn out that they could match in a storyline together.

Two important notes tho: I'm 26 so I would highly prefer to keep this at least 20+. I only partake in fandomless rp myself, so while I wouldn't mind to chat about fandom related storylines I'm not sure how much you will get out of that.

001: I don't know the year of his birth because honestly he might be more than a thousand years old overal dgdtdgd but his birthday is on the 8th of August

002: Ollie celebrates in one of two ways. He either gets some fine beverage like an expensive wine or port, a cheese pallet and cigars and celebrates by himself by just enjoying that whilst star gazing. Or he hosts a big party. Like a ballroom sized party. He absolutely loves playing host and making something grand of the occasion. But since he doesn't want to burn out on it he usually save those for the big numbers. He's gonna be 30 sometime soon ish so there is one coming up.

003: He doesn't mind coffee but he's 100% a tea drinker. In the same way ppl like to take the time to prepare their coffee he really likes to use different filtration techniques with self grown herbs. And he drinks it with milk or different kinds of syrups sometimes too. Plus who doesn't like a extravagant high tea from time to time?

004: Really split down the middle. He really values his alone time. Especially when studying or learning a new skill. So his time alone is intensely needed but doesn't often occur since he has a innate need to be liked by people and part of accomplishing that is to be the center of many different groups. If he would be more self aware and better mentally more alone time might occur. But as of now he loves to drown out his negative thoughts and problems with the noise of others

005: Honestly not really. He is very active and frequently gets help from Sam to repair things so in that regard he is healthy. But constantly traveling, spending large amounts of time at sea or in rough territory in combination with being a regular smoker, drinker and overall just not being the best in those little self care rituals that are nice for the body long term, you can't really regard him as healthy. There's only so much the body can tolerate and if he doesn't change course his one will have a couple of rude surprises for him in his 30s

006: For 1 it's not sight :') he left that eyesight behind in 2014. I think it would be touch. You might think hearing would improve and while he can hear good, listening is something he could seriously benefit to work on. His other senses aren't above avarge either. But I can imagine him knowing his away around a familiar ship or house by feel in the dark, simply because he has had to fall back on it so much.

007: I think Ollie is an optimist but not in a good way. He wants to be able to fix things (and by things it's often people which is a problem) when they are so far beyond saving it's ridiculous. He pushes himself and the people around them for the 'greater good' without realizing he can hurt people that way.

008: I think it would be some kind of fokelore instead of a fairy tale. And it would be quite rude/bold in it's humor. If we have to pick human stories two things come to mind rn. The cyclops in Odyssey and the part where Thor is in disguise as someone's bride.

009: Yes, to a fault. He does not know when to let go or switch gears. Or that happy endings can't be bruteforced

010: No. Eventhough he is convinced he does. He gets obsessed with every new person he picks to fix. And while a relationship often follows from that, due to his actions being so calculated at the beginning he doesn't believe it's love at first sight. This could change if someone chooses him from the beginning instead of the other way around.

011: It would have to be the slow burn of the century in which this other person courts him. Otherwise he will fixate on them from the beginning as someone so get, a project to fix. And once he gets them the love usually only lasts a year or twenty, which is not long on the time scale of his life. He needs someone to genuinely push him in a better direction. To be patient with him (altho sometimes a kick up the arse will be necessary too) and act as a close friend for a long time before making any moves. Any early moves will fly over Ollies head no matter how obvious some of them might seem. If this guy has shelved you away as "they couldn't possibly be in love with me" or "I can't be busy with any of that right now" goodluck trying to claw your way back out of the out of my league zone. So, what romantic gesture is there to be expected once the obvious has been clear? My best bet is an overall earnest and steady path to self improvement, a startlingly good reliability both here and to his sons, an great improvement in being available for those small favors a relationship relies on sometimes, able to admit his faults, able to meet someone halfway and an improvement in selfcare health wise. All topped of with the very occasional well ment but still slip up of doing something absolutely ridiculously over the top to the equivalent of 'I've rented the moon for us'.

As for a 'wrong' relationship, he will decide to get them from the first time they meet and do everything in his power to make it come true. Usually falling in love along the way. He will find something they are missing or need fixing in their life and provide them with the solution. Along with over the top sweeping romantical gestures, totally plotted out and personalized based on what he has learned this person wants or needs most in their life. Ollie doesn't tend to fall for the sober & humble. The grander the gesture the better.

012: There are plenty of ways to tick him off. Shame is one his most response provoking feelings. Want him angry or upset? Just tease him with one of the following: His bisexuality, his androgynous appearance (bonus points if you say he's feminine or weak), his intellect simply call him dumb wrong or stupid, the consequences of his own actions simply show that he is to blame, call him a bad father or bad partner, simply point out that he is embarrassed and he'll argue that he's absolutely not or say that you know what he serectly enjoys winkwonk

013: Absolutely. By his peers, by his colleagues, by other characters sometimes even by partners. It's just too easy and too fun to tick him off

014: I'm not sure how obvious this one is, in particular towards other characters at the time. Eventhough he does not act like it Ollie feels a deep and immense shame for abandoning his sons, all the way from Einar and Santos to Ravi. He is helplessly repeating the pattern within his family that fucked him up as a kid. And it will be a long time (maybe never) before he will be able to forgive himself (after he has conformation eventually that he has mended the bonds with each of his sons)

015: what that tongue do hahahaaaaaaa but in all seriousness he loves to argue and win to a fault. And he is annoyingly good at knowing how to win any argument no matter if he's actually right or not. That being said he does love a good fight from time to time. Just to feel something? I honestly don't know

016: It's technically not a weapon but the ocean or any other body of water. If he gets a chance to drown his opponent he will. Otherwise it's a set of personalized double swords.

017: Ollies moral compas sways depending which person he's currently fixated on. Does violence benefit said person or himself? Than it's justified. Bonus points if it's about vengeance.

018: No matter which side he's on he would be likely to join the action and convince others to join him in that. He mignt actually thrive in a world where laws bend under the pressure of the situation.

019: To be able to influence chance. This guy wants to be a 100% right all.the.time

020: Sailing, ship building, fishing, swimming, mapping out unexplored areas, playing the piano (it runs in the family), reading, various boardgames and painting.

021: Acts of service (bonus points if it's emotional service) and gift giving. He loves to solve issues for the other. Giving them whatever they are missing or craving most. He is not the most physically affectionate but can unknowingly be a tad touchy(placing a hand on ones shoulder for example) when trying to be charming or a good host. Him showing others a new place or thing is a big sign that he likes said person

022: His new born sons. And secondly the northern lights at full energy in total darkness.

023: Ollie has a wide range in types in all genders. Some specifics that jump out are: tall, fit, rough around the edges, small imperfections

024: Truly ugly is quite harsh. Maybe poor dental health? (As if he has a leg to stand on when it comes to that) and people who look so well kept they no longer look fully natural.

025: Beautiful?: curiosity above all else. When someone clearly has a drive to explore and actively live life. Attractive?: Confidence and stubbornness. When someone can take over the room with their personality, believes for 110% in what they do and know themselves to be interesting and excentriek. Stubbornness is just an adorable quality
