Atlas and the Armor AU

'Jim is chosen as the Trollhunter, with a twist. When he summons the armor, the helmet hides his face, and he is believed to be a troll, going by the alias Atlas. Believing he can train and do his best to handle this ‘Gunmar’ guy within only a few short weeks, and safely fade into trollish oblivion, Jim Lake Jr. works towards getting back into his normal human life, and washing his hands of this whole affair. No such thing.'

Originally inspired by this fic, which I lost for a long time, but I remembered the base concept of Jim hiding his human identity from the trolls with his helmet.

Sphinx!Archie and Douxie for the Monster Kids AU

(Archie heavily based off of @eurazba's Archie gijinka design)

Archie came from a line of sphinxes that are very proud of their heritage, and keep to the traditional roles of a sphinx (only interacting with humans if they met them on a quest/giving riddles and devouring them if they failed (Archie's father was so well known for that one it became his own title))

Archie is very proficient with sphinx-based magic, one of the few in his generation that still has a connection as strong as he does

Archie finds Douxie when he hears a rumor from a nearby village of a 'were-child'. He investigates, and finds a very young sphinx, alone and terrified. Douxie calms down considerably when he sees Archie is also a sphinx, and before any humans come and find them, Archie scoops him up and flies off back home to his flock.

He teaches Douxie some basic glamours to help blend in among humans for emergency reasons. If they got split up- gods forbid- Archie wants him to be able to hide a bit safer in human villages

They do get split up a few times, but usually find each other within the hour, with Archie's tracking skills. It's one of these times in Camelot that Merlin finds Douxie, and his innate talent for magic.

Archie, protective dad he is, almost tells off Merlin- what if he changed his mind the moment he saw their true selves? But Merlin is persistent, and Douxie is so interested and practically begs Archie.

After some consideration, he allows it, much to his chagrin, but sets a rule: wherever Hirsidoux goes, he goes. Merlin grumbles a bit at having to take both instead of just one, but obliges.

Douxie and Archie have been doing pretty well with keeping up their human glamours and hiding their sphinx heritage while in Camelot, until Douxie gets pretty sick (Archie explains to him that its just a normal part of a sphinx's development into adulthood) and forced to stay in bed until he's better. He can't keep up the glamour while he's so unwell, so Archie does his best to keep Merlin's nose out of finding out his apprentice is not human.

Merlin's a nosy old badger though, and distracts Archie long enough to go in and see Douxie (he won't admit it, but he's worried about the boy, and Archibald had been very adamant about no one but him going in). Merlin enters to see Douxie in his real form, and while he's very surprised, he reassures his apprentice that he won't turn him in to Arthur and his knights.

Merlin and Archie have a discussion when he gets back about it, and Archie tells the truth- about him being the son of Charlemange, finding and taking in Douxie, and the human glamours.

Merlin says that he won't turn them in- Arthur would likely assume Merlin was harboring them knowingly, and take his head as well.

Merlin makes a joke about 'i always assumed morgana would be the crazy cat lady, but i guess here we are' / 'hardy har har'

Long after Camelot, Douxie and Archie come to Arcadia, and with the recent boom in monster population (thanks in part to the new Trollhunter), they are both very confused, but very intrigued.

As a note, Archie is a panther/raven sphinx, while Douxie is a black tabby/crow sphinx.
