Spent a day off work in D.C.

Was so stoked for D.C. Taco tacos I almost forgot to snap a photo.

Constantly craving this place. Went with a few friends while down in DC - @lapuertaverdedc (translated as “The Green Door”) is WHERE IT’S AT. 👈🏼 soooo many tacos! 😋🌮 $3 tacos on happy hour. Pictured here are: Tinga with tomato and chipotle braised chicken, Lengua with tender braised beef tongue, Al Pastor with grilled achiote chili pork and pineapple, Carne Asada with grilled mojo marinated beef skirt steak, Pescado with cumin crusted fried cod and mango slaw, then a Carnitas with braised pork and pickled veggies. All topped with cilantro and onion and served with chile de arbol salsa and avocado tomatillo salsa. FIRE 🌶🔥 They’re taking happy hour to the next level here! Inside you’ll find a large bar and dining area with colorful mosaic tiles around - even in the bathroom! - and large beautiful murals of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Quetzalcoatl, the God of Wind and Wisdom (I think?). True Mexican spirit here in Ivy City.
