Announcement chapter 16!!!

Hey guys, so maybe the 24 page was a goal a little bit too big for me, so for the update of next week we will upload the first part of chapter 16, and then at the end of the month we will publish the second half I was too greedy for thinking i could do all of it but this is part of learning my limits and have a healthier work balance schedule, hope everyone can understand the situation and thanks so much for the constant support

hi! i’m curious if you guys have like, an age rating for ddvau? my cousin whos 13 likes hermitcraft and superhero aus so I wanna show it to her but also don’t wanna be blindsided by a sex scene or smth lmao

DDVAU is 16+

This rating is mostly cuz there's going to be violence and blood in future updates!

Also the story will deal more with serious topics regarding mental health issues and sociopolitical issues, which anyone can enjoy, but its good to be mindful (also we will always trigger warning if necessary)

There will never be full on nudity or a sex scene don't worry. The most nudity would be shirtless people or beach episode outfits.

I did not make this, the props to the original creators that had dessert duo vigilante au (DDVAU) this is mainly an au with a few tweak ups but it's based on the original comics just with different characters and a few tweaks up because I loved the concept so much :D it has empires folks so it's also a empires au

Note: Katherine is now 25 year olds!

The reason why I made her and Jimmy best friends is because I watched their roblox videos together and I really thought they're a cool duo :D

If you're bound to be friends with Jimmy you're most likely know who Lizzie (his sister) and Joel (his future brother in law) is and they've been friends for many years so that's why she trusts them a lot

What was your thought process on some of your stareater designs/ where did you draw inspiration?

HELLO!

hmmm, I think I just really wanted to start a fan series, last year sort of rediscovered my love for the borderlands series and their art style and character design

I think maybe for stuff like pearl blog very much inspired by her season 9 base as well as the sort of vintage sci-fi look!!!

And specifically with Jimmy, Lizzie and the Avian species as a whole is very much inspired by the Zora and Rito from botw

Id say though alot of the inspiration is taken from Borderlands

I love borderlands soo much I just wanna eat that games art and characters style (and I don't play shooters ..aside from maybe Splatoon if that even counts)

And other smaller inspirations like, Final space, Nausicaä and maybe a lil Arcane, despite enjoying fantacy sci-fi as a genre, I can't really think of many exsmaples haha, you could probably ask @kairamuwu cos he might have some different inspirations than me

OH ALSO just fan series in general!!! I like it a lot of series like ddvau and boatem knights and just the cool stories ppl write with these characters

That's probably what inspired me most to start this series, seeing the overwhelmingly talented fan work created ..with fanart and writing, just got me all inspired to start my own with Luke. And we're having a lot of fun!!!

thinking about ddvau theories is so fun especially when looking at the parents and piecing together who is who's parent.

(This is my first time ever sending an ask to a creator so sorry if it’s long or stupidly worded) I was looking through the one world building post explaining the Emerald Soldiers vs Nexus thing, and I had a thought. Since the ES have been converted to mostly deal with “problems” created by mutants it would make sense if that whole group is all humans, but also the government doesn’t outright want to say “hey we hate mutants”, they want to make it seem like the mutants are the problem. But this whole thing gave me a realization: is Scar a diversity hire? He’s not a mutant, he doesn’t have any powers and therefore isn’t “dangerous”, he’s still considered human, but he does have mutant ancestry which shows in his pointy ears. This way when people accuse the government of discriminating against mutants they can point to Hotguy and go “see, one of our top soldiers has mutant blood!” as a defense. Not sure what I was trying to ask, just thoughts. Love the whole comic by the way, the new chapter is amazing! One of the highlights of my month.

It's not a mistake; it's an intentional decision.

We wrote Tango based on our own experiences as Spanish speakers in English-speaking spaces. Since Tango was born outside of the capital, one of the ways we see he doesn't fully fit in the city, is with the language. His dialogues imply that english (or the language the characters speak in the capital) it's tango's second language, which is why he occasionally makes grammatical mistakes when forming his sentences.

All of this will be explored further in upcoming chapters.

Jellies powers, is that how she appeared so suddenly on top of scar when he woke up? Would her floating consume more energy? So theoretically you could just be walking in the streets, see a cat floating in the sky and I'd be a normal Tuesday?

Yes, jellie moves around the house floating, she barely walks, and it doesn't take more energy out of her.

She's just build like that

And yeah, it's quite common. No one would be surprised to see her floating

I’m sorry but it has been consuming my brain since reading ch19. I could be reading too deep into things, but does Jellie have powers? Scar says she can float around the house but would rather be carried (as she deserves). And her jump off Scar’s lap was very gracious and does give the idea that she could float around in loaf mode.

Again could be reading too much into things but the idea of Jellie having powers is kinda near and I would love to know if she does or does not.

Just as humans, animals and plants in the universe can have mutations/powers

I thought it would be a fun way to introduce the concept

I know you've mentioned it on stream before so I just wanted to say I think it's pretty cool that you guys gave Tango a "weird" allergy. I do want to clarify I'm not allergic to water, but I am allergic to the sun, so it's really cool you guys went out of your way to add something like that.

Thank you!! Maru particulary has been putting a lot of work into investigating papers and investigations about the water allergy so we can portray a more accurate experience!

Tango's allergy is something anyone could have, it's not because he has fire powers, it's because tango is tango

Had Scar gone to visit Grian? And if not, how does Grian feel about the fact that someone he considers a friend hasn’t even come to see him while he’s been in the hospital?

He hasn't.

He's not close enough to Grian to visit him. Besides, for now, Grian only accepts visits from family and very close friends.

On the other hand, Grian doesn't feel anything in particular either. He sees Scar as a friend, but like Scar, they aren't close enough to spend time together outside of work.

He'd be more surprised if Scar visited him.

Not really. Only a week has passed since the Mother Spore Incident in the second volume. If we look at it as the beginning of the week: - Chapters 14-15 are Mondays. - Chapters 16-17 are Tuesdays. - Chapter 18 (and the future 19 and 20) are Wednesdays. Also, the Cuteguy doesn't appear every day; it's common for him to disappear for a couple of weeks. But HG wonders why CG didn't show up to help with the Mother Spore Incident
